It seemed like a good idea at the time. A two-week Hawaiian vacation with a beautiful woman. What could go wrong?
Well, when that woman is my best friend’s little sister, the answer is - everything.
Mackenzie Langston has been in my life since we were kids, and until now, I didn’t see past her family and our friendship. So when she tells me she’s sworn off men for the next year after a bad breakup, I jump at the chance to have some company on the vacation I’d booked for me and my cheating ex. But Mack’s all grown up, and we’re both on the rebound.
In a romantic suite with just one bed, the weather isn’t the only thing that gets hot.
USA Today bestselling author Kim Loraine was raised a Navy brat but spent most of her life growing up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. A proper Washingtonian, she's addicted to coffee, doesn't let a little rain ruin her day, and thinks the sun is a gift from God. When not chasing her three little minions around, Kim spends her time writing, reading, and binge watching Doctor Who.
What could possibly go wrong when you go to Hawaii with your best friend's little sister? Let me tell you what, ALOT!!
Luke Wilde won a trip to Hawaii that was supposed to be his honeymoon but when his ex is caught cheating all that goes up in smoke. Luke decides to take this trip to get away from Montana and get over the heartbreak he never saw coming. After a few too many drinks he is inviting his best friend's little sister to go with him and now they are to spend two weeks in Hawaii together, just them. Alone, and sharing a bed.
Mackenzie has had a crush on Luke since they were kids, but she never acted on it. She knew what kind of mess that would bring on for their family. This trip is supposed to be a way for her and Luke to get over their exes but too many hours in the hot sun has them craving one another in a new way. Mackenzie never wanted to fall for Luke, but before their time is up, she can already see what they could be if only they were given the chance.
As their trip gets cut short and they have to leave for a family emergency every fear Luke & Mackenzie had starts to come true. They can't possibly be together. Their families wouldn't approve, Luke doesn't believe in love and Mackenzie deserves everything. What will it take for these two to get back on the saddle?
If I've said it once I will say it again. Kim Loraine writes some of the best cowboys. Luke was swoony with this charm and the way he would call Mackenzie darlin'. Mackenzie was a force and just as stubborn as you would expect for the girl to win Luke Wilde's heart.
At this point I am caught with the Wilde's, so it is time I go over and see what the Ryker's are up to. There really is no such thing as too many cowboys.
Wild Mistake is another fantastic cowboy romance by Kim Loraine. Listening to the audiobook narrated in duet by Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton was such a treat. They really brought these characters to life with their animated voices. Teddy portrays Luke perfectly bringing all the cowboy charm and swoon you can imagine and Stella portrays the confident, sassy Mackenzie perfectly as well. Luke and Mackenzie have known each other their whole lives. She is the twin sister to Luke's best friend Nash. After his wedding is called off, Luke asks Mac to come on vacation with him to Hawaii and the two begin a vacation fling. Their chemistry was scorching and undeniable. I loved the witty banter between these two and being on vacation together away from the family dynamics it really allowed them to open up to each other without their families getting involved. Of course once they return there was some light angst and conflict but I loved the way it all turns out and cannot get enough of these Wilde cowboys! After that ending I cannot wait for Maverick's book next!
Sunrise, Montana we meet again! This time we read about Luke Wilde and his best friend Nash’s twin sister, Mackenzie Langston and she grew up! Always in a crush with her brother’s best friend, she went away and found out she didn’t like the person she had become. Back home to figure out who she really is, Mackenzie doesn’t expect to find Luke to be the guy after all these years that can still make her blush. Luke is done with love after his cheating ex and thinks that he isn’t worthy of finding the right woman. Lo and behold the right woman has been with him the entire time, but will he realize it before it’s too late?
How better to get over your miserable love lives and skip the rebound period than with your friend on a luxury trip to Hawaii? One bed, check! Hot tub, check! Falling in love with the friend that was just supposed to be a benefit to have for the 10-day trip, Double Check!
Oh! does author Kim Loraine give us all the steamy action that left me gasping for air and asking for the air conditioner to be cranked to sub-zero temps! WOOOOO the first half of this book is unbelievably hot and then we skid the brakes hard when the drama hits to remind them of who they are to each other. Friends with lives so intertwined that falling in love could ruin everything. Completely enthralled with this story I could not stop reading and wanted to know how Luke & Mackenzie would get out of their own ways to make this work since they obviously had chemistry. The heat levels are intense, but so is the deep love and of course touching base to members of the Ryker family bring you so much to love about this story.
Bring on the Teddy Hamilton Darlin's and all the Stella Hunter sass as this just hits all the right notes for me!! The way they play off each other in the duet narration is just perfect. Teddy brings the smolder that I love when he plays these alpha type of characters, but it is even better when he has this loveable Cinnamon Roll side to fall back into in the tender moments. And Stella is giving me a serious #GirlCrush with the way she handles "sexy-times" with the sighs and breathlessness that keeps you in the moment. Then she's ready to smack down with the best of them when it's time to shine with her no-guff sass. Love listening to them and hope to hear more from the Sunrise crew soon!
Ahh, best friend's little sister, who doesn't love that. It was fun, and I liked Mackenzie the best. She is getting out of a relationship and doesn't want anything serious. Only best-laid plans and all that. Two weeks in Hawaii changed everything. This was a fun, fast listen.
Another Wild story by Kim Loraine. MacKenzie was Luke's Best Friend, Nash's little sister. That meant she was completely off limits. Luke won a honeymoon trip to Hawaii but he never ended up getting married. So he asked Mack to join in for the trip. They promised it would be strictly platonic. One thing lead to another and ... Loved getting to know Mack & Luke. Great listen! Excellent narration by Teddy Hamilton & Stella Hunter.
Luke won a trip to Hawaii but has no wife to take. His best friend's all grown up, beautiful sister, Mackenzie, should do just fine. They'll just have to make sure that if anything happens, it will be of the no strings kind, no feelings involved, because neither of them could survive that kind of falling out, and they definitely could never let her brother and his best friend, find out.
Mackenzie has always had a crush on her brother's best friend, but knew it was useless because he only saw her as a little girl, his best friend's little sister. Now that he's looking at her with heat in his eyes, will she give into the temptation, even if there's the possibility of getting her heart broken? She will do her best to keep it at no strings, even giving him that line. Because there's no way she wants her heart broken, AND to be the reason for destroying Luke's friendship with her brother.
I fell absolutely in love with Luke and Mackenzie. They're so adorable, both together and individually. From her sassy teasing hiding her crush, to his never realizing he had always subconsciously held himself back from noticing her as someone other than his best friend's little sister. But when they came together, their feelings were so obvious, and their chemistry was smoking hot that I was rooting for them to figure things out and obtain the happiness they deserved.
This is the steamiest book so far of the series IMO. Mackenzie and Luke have been close since they were kids and she is off-limits because she is the sister of his best friend. As teens/young adults they don’t want to give in to a relationship because that could affect everything if it goes south so they wait until they are both adults and getting out of relationships to engage. Mac didn’t want to go forward with her relationship because it was taking her in a direction that she wasn’t comfortable with. And Luke’s relationship imploded when his fiancé cheated on him. So Luke is taking his honeymoon trip minus the wife and asks Mac to accompany him. They steam of the island of Hawaii but what happens in Hawaii doesn’t always stay in Hawaii. When they come back to their hometown it is awkward and they both try to avoid each other as much as possible but it doesn’t work. Will they move forward and explore their relationship?

He won a trip to Hawaii and since no wedding happened he decides to go to regroup and asks Mackenzie to join him. Wild Mistake is a best friend's sister romance at its absolute best. Luke and Mackenzie's story is one of heartbreak, moving forward and taking a chance. There is a storm brewing of emotions that will take your heart on one epic journey. It will have your skin on fire as the chemistry and heat between these two lights up a night sky. These two have ups and downs, push and pull and a lot of words unsaid and said that cause misunderstandings and a lot of hurt. As their hearts are pulled in so many directions and confusion plays a big part, it will be the intense forever love that radiates between these two that will leave you breathless. Luke and Mackenzie will leave you with the biggest smile on your face as these two dance their way into your heart.
I really loved this book, I would’ve given it 5 stars, but I don’t love miscommunication, luckily the angsty bits weren’t dragged out!! These 2 were both so swoony, I loved them both equally!! And it was spicy enough to notice, without melting my eyeballs.
I love this series and getting lost in Kim Loraine's cowboy world. I was lucky enough to get an ALC of the audio of Wild Mistake and it is perfection. Luke and Mac burn up every scene together, it's brother's best friend done so very right and I couldn't get enough. I hope the Wildes and Langstons go on forever.
This is a steamy, sexy romance with strong characters in Mackenzie and Luke, two people who've known each other as long as they can remember. They've been crushing on one another but never moved on it. The author takes them on an emotional journey filled with ups and downs and tons of heat. She gives them a fun banter and great chemistry and delivers a terrific story.

These Wilde boys are stealing my heart!! What a great third book to the series! Luke and Mackenzie have one heck of a chemistry. Both are carrying a ton of baggage and have sworn off love but sometimes it finds you when you least expect it. Will they take the chance and hope everyone understands or just go back to the way it was before? It's so great to see characters from previous books and also from the Ryker Ranch series as well. If you haven't started this series, you are really missing out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Luke Wilde is the middle Wilde brother. Luke recently got his heart broken and finds himself at his ex’s wedding to make the statement that he is fine. But is he really? Mackenzie is the twin sister of his best friend. When Mackenzie left their small town to spread her wings. Fate brought Mackenzie home after a break up of her own, and right in the path of Luke...who is her twin brother's best friend. They have always been off limits for each other. But they can be friends, right. Just friends.
After reading Sutton’s story, Luke’s younger brother, I knew that Luke was going to melt my heart. He comes across as the funny playboy but deep down he is really looking for his one true love. Mackenzie has always had a little crush on Luke but knew he would never look at her twice because he was her brother’s best friend. As the pair reconnect they decide to take a Hawiian vacation that Luke won for his honeymoon. A very romantic vacation. This vacation would be a time for them each to mentally get over their break up, recharge, and be ready to face the town refreshed. Well, the attraction and connection is pretty intense between these two and they decide to embark on a vacation friends with benefits arrangement. I mean nothing will go wrong there and feelings won’t be caught, right? Especially since they each harbor life long crushes? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this pair rationalize their arrangement to themselves. And from the get go I felt like they both knew it was going to go sideways, but they just could not resist each other. And really isn’t that the way you would want your love story to be? Where you could not keep your hands off each other. When a family emergency brings the pair home early, they work really hard to stick to their arrangement. But the reality is they were drawn to each other, and not in just the physical sense. I think this is where Loraine’s story telling shined in this book. I could feel the pull they had towards each other and I was so ready for them to just come together. And they way that Luke showed Mackenzie that he was all in. Oh my stars. It was perfect. How they each came to their own realization that they belong together.
In so many books with families sometimes the other members of the family take over the book, and it is not the case with this one. While Loraine introduces us to Mackenzie’s family, especially her brothers she gives us just enough to want more of them. And the Wilde boys, while their relationship is a little fractured, are working hard to become the family they want to be….and it really made me want more of them! I cannot wait for the next book in this series, and the next series The Irresistible Langstons! If you love small towns, family romances, with a little humor you are going to want to read this book. Kim Loraine has quickly become a must read author for me!
Kim Loraine has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Mackenize and Luke. Luke has been Noah, Mackenzie's brother's best friend for a long time. He has not even thought of her as anything other than his best friend's little sister. Now she has grown up and he is looking at her differently. Luke has not seen Mackenize for a while and now she has come back home. Luke is at his ex-fiance Sienna's wedding and this is when he sees Mackenzie. They leave and go back to her place and start drink and talking. Luke had won a two-week honeymoon trip to Hawaii and he was going to go alone, but now he invites Mackenize to go with him. Mackenzie has always had feelings for Luke. Things are fine between them the first couple of days until their feelings get in the way. They sleep together and the next morning, she notices that Luke is different. She tells him that they can have a no-string fling while they are in Hawaii. When they get back home, things will go back to the way they were before. This was fine for them until they started falling for each other. Mackenzie knows that her brother Noah will be mad if he finds out that she has been seeing Luke. Luke wants to let her family know that they are together but she wants more time to think about how to tell Noah. Luke gets a phone call from his brother Sutton telling him that their father Wes is dead and he needs to come home early. After the call, Luke begins to push Mackenzie away and tells her that she was right about them not working out. After they get back home, Mackenzie doesn't see Luke for a while. She has gone to the store for her sister, Nell, and sees Drew an old classmate and he wants to have dinner with her to catch up and Luke hears this and he gets jealous and makes a fool of himself in front of Mackenzie. Luke can't stop thinking about Mackenzie and he finally sends her a text asking for her to meet with him so they can talk. She agrees to meet with him. The night she is to meet with him, she is running late and Luke doesn't think she will show up. When she gets there, she tells him she is sorry that she was late but her dad wanted to talk to her. Luke tells her how he feels about her and after he has finished she doesn't say anything for a few minutes. Luke thinks that this means she has given up on them and moved on. She tells him that she feels the say way about him. They decide to tell her family about them seeing each other. Noah is the one that doesn't take things well when he is told. He hits Luke and knocks him out. Will things work out for Mackenzie and Luke not that her family knows about them? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

'Wild Mistake' is book three in Kim Loraine's 'Wilde Horse Ranch' series. This novel can be read independent as of itself, or you can read from the beginning of the series. This novel is easy to pick up as a standalone if you wish to start here.
Thank you to Grey's Promo for allowing me to read this advanced readers copy to read and review. I am now up to speed with the series, having read the other two previously.
As outlined in the title and listing of this book, it is a romance story between the main character, Mackenzie, and her brother's best friend Luke. Immediately as these types of tropes go, Mackenzie to Luke's mind at least, is off limits. That is, until said limits are removed when an interesting turn of events presents itself to both Luke and Mackenzie. Luke has dismissed love altogether, and Mackenzie has shelved love until further notice. This makes for an interesting situation when the two of them in a semi-forced proximity setting, choose to disregard the aspect of love, and do what they want until such a time where it is time to go back to reality.
Wild Mistake is a very easy-to-read novel with the admirable cowboy, ranch-based, feuding family aspects that I have come to enjoy in a Kim Loraine novel. Although removed from the ranch for just a little under halfway of the novel, this no less gives us a chance to explore the two characters from both the Wilde and Ryker/Langston families outside of the ranch setting. This strips away any pretences and opens up a whole new avenue for the characters to let go, reveal their true selves (which will either remain or hide when back home), and for want of a word, take a walk on the wild side. Having the split-location written into the book was a bold choice to do, for those of us who love a good small-town ranch life romance, but paid off in the overall nature of the storyline.
Additionally and oh so much appreciated, is the additional steamy element that has quite literally intwined our two characters. Luke certainly steps things up a level in this book, so you'll need to grab a fan to cool your cheeks from that blush I know will creep up onto them as it crept onto mine. The chemistry was there, so right, and off the charts. If only the two could see it, but then again, when it is realised, prepare for a finale of passionate fireworks. That cowboy sure knows his way around a woman.
Steam aside, the journey to love in this novel is no way easy, but the reward when there's a happily ever after is oh so much sweeter thanks to the course that has been traversed by both Luke and Mackenzie. As the Shakespeare wrote, 'the course of true love never did run smooth'.
It was a pleasure getting to read another Kim Loraine novel, and to sit once more in the saddle of this series getting to know a new set of characters and their stories. I'm definitely hoping that there will be more in this series, as the characters only get more promising with each new release.
Wild Mistake A Best Friend's Little Sister Romance (Wilde Horse Ranch, Book 2) By: Kim Loraine Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Stella Hunter
Kim Loraine’s swoon worthy cowboys are awesome, it is always great to visit one of her ranches because I know I will be an entertaining and enjoyable ride. This is the second book of this series and features Luke Wilde and Mackenzie “Mac” Langston, Luke practically grew up with the Langston’s and is best friends with Mac’s older brother Nash. Luke was burned by a cheating ex, he had won a trip to Hawaii, he planned on going with her but is now going alone, when he saw Mac at a wedding he asked her to join him, just as friends. Mac just came out of a relationship that was not working for her, she had the time off so why not go. They agreed upon just being friends, in Lukes eye she is off limits, but once they start spending time together things start to change. They decided friends with benefits just for the trip, but as much as they tried it was impossible for them to keep their feelings out of it. But what happens when the vacation is over, will they be able to go back to their lives the way it was. I just loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Kim Loraine, thank you for another awesome novel and cowboy to fall in love with. I can wait to see what happens next on the Wild Horse Ranch.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an awesome job portraying these characters, humanizing them as they bring them to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable in that role and just as I picture the character to sound. Teddy Hamilton played Luke with perfection, Stella did the same for MacKenzie. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions which is reflected in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and their duet performance enhances an already awesome story to another level of awesomeness. Thank you for another amazing listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
Every time I think these cowboys can´t get any swoonier, there comes Ms Loraine and makes them even dreamier and hotter. The heat is getting steamier by the book.
Wild Mistake is yet another amazing cowboy romance by Kim Loraine. In this Friends-to-Lover’s story, we meet Luke Wilde and Mackenzie Langston. Mackenzie is Nash Langston´s twin sister and he is also Luke´s best friend.
Luke and Mackenzie have known each other since forever and both just had bad breakups, so running off together on a 2-week fake honeymoon to Hawaii seems like a great idea. Mack always felt more for this handsome cowboy than she let on but kept it to herself. Luke was always protective of Mackenzie, treated her as his little sister and there is also the fact that best friend´s sisters are forbidden, but she became a woman, a very beautiful woman, which means spending time together in close proximity does not help the feelings that are building. What should have just been casual soon feels like more and once they get close to getting back to Montana, their moods change because none of them wants to ruin what’s left of their friendship or get their hearts broken again. And darn it, did they break mine a little in between being all dreamy.
I just love Kim Loraine´s cowboys! They always put a smile on my face, let me switch off for a few hours and sweep me away into their fun, swoony, sexy world.
The book is narrated duet style by Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton and boy did they get all my feelings flowing. I think I was swooning non-stop. Enjoyed this so much, an awesome performance. Oh My, Teddy as Luke just swept me right off my feet, him saying Darlin in this Montana drawl is something and made me all gooey inside! He also brought Luke´s dirty talk across perfectly-being all smooth and dominant. I always get a smile on my face listening to Stella, I just love her voice, tone, and she really brings the sass out of all these cowgirls. Especially loved the part where she performs Mackenzie going all shy on the dirty talk. Again, perfectly performed by both.
I can only highly recommend to everyone to get swept away by all these cowboys, be it Ryker’s, Wilde´s and Langston’s to come.
I just want to begin by saying that I don’t think I will ever get enough of the wonderful, heartfelt stories about the people of Sunrise, Montana and their paths to love. Whether it’s the OG Rykers, their former rivals the Wildes or the lovable Langstons, I quickly fall in love with each new story and cast of characters. Kim Loraine has such a wonderful way with words and cowboys.
Wild Mistake is another one of those amazing stories and I immediately loved Mackenzie Langston and Luke Wilde. They have a sweet and steamy love story that is built on a long history of growing up together and secretly loving each other from afar. I’ve always been a fan of secret crushes and forbidden love stories and this one about Mackenzie’s crush on her brother’s best friend is simply wonderful. (I use the word “wonderful” a few times in this review, but it’s just so fitting.) Neither Mackenzie nor Luke have been lucky in love and they end up finding solace in each other, thanks to Luke’s invitation to join him on the honeymoon trip that he won but that will no longer include his wedding. With broken hearts in tow, they head for Hawaii and realize that their attraction to each other still burns bright. I enjoyed getting to know the Langston family and how much they love and support one another. Despite all of that, Mackenzie is uncertain how her family, especially her brother, will feel about her dating Luke. Not only do they try to deny their growing feelings for each other but they also try to keep it a secret. Their journey is full of sweet, funny, sexy moments that will warm your heart and fog your reading glasses. (I will never look at a mechanical bull ride the same way again!)
I highly recommend the audiobook because the duet narration is simply amazing! Not only are Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton amazing individually, but they are so great together and have incredible chemistry. Stella brings both heart and sass to Mackenzie and makes you root for her as she finds her strength and independence again. Teddy brings such richness to Luke and makes you fall for him as he opens his heart to love again and swoon for him as he goes after Mackenzie. You don’t want to miss this audiobook and their wonderful narration!
Luke Wilde and Mackenzie Langston meet up at a wedding reception after not seeing each other for almost a decade. Luke was Mackenzie's brother, Wyatt best friend and he practically grew up at her house along with his older brother, Maverick. Luke's family may have had money, but their home life was nothing. The first thing Luke noticed about Mackenzie was she no longer looked liked a kid sister but a grown woman with all the curves to prove it. He had to keep his hands off, her brothers were always protect of their sisters. Besides he was off women, since the wedding they were at was his cheating ex's whom, he thought he was going to spend forever with. Luke and Mackenzie soon left together going to her place spending the evening drinking and catching up. Mackenzie had just broken her engagement as it just did not feel right and moved back to Montana from California to find herself. Luke ended up spending the night at Mackenzie's on the couch leaving early the next morning before she got up. Luke had won a trip to Hawaii the year before that he was planning to use for his honeymoon, but he had scheduled to leave the day after the wedding. He decided it would be fun to invite Mackenzie a long for the trip to have someone to do things with. He called her inviting her on the trip telling her it was already paid in advance. Against her better judgement, she went with him, but she did not know that they would be sharing a bed at the time. They agreed before leaving there would be no sex. These two had way to much history for a trip like that. Mackenzie had a secret crush on Luke for years and was still drawn to him. Luke always thought that Mackenzie was special even left Montana continually telling himself that she was off limits. He had to be strong, he did not believe in love. He would not hurt the Langston family after everything they had done for him and Maverick over the years. Luke and Mackenzie had the perfect chemistry together. They always seemed so in sink with one another except when they got to over thinking the situation. They made each other more complete. An exciting read as this couple tries to keep their romance a secret.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I cannot get enough of the sexy cowboys from Sunrise, Montana. I didn't think I could fall in love with any cowboy who wasn't a Ryker, but I was WRONG! The Wilde Boys are surely invading a part of my heart. Wild Mistake is the second book in the Wilde Horse Ranch Series and I LOVED IT! Mackenzie Langston has returned to Sunrise, where she is going to be teaching at the high school, but before the school year begins, she takes off on an unexpected trip to Hawaii with her twin brother's best friend, Luke Wilde. Luke and Mackenzie were not strangers to each other. As one of the Wilde kids, Luke grew up spending most of his time at the Langston home. The last thing he wants to do is risk his relationship with the people he consider family, but when lines are crossed there is no going back.
Let me say that I absolutely loved the chemistry between Mack and Luke. It was insanely HOT. There were a couple of scenes in this book that had me wanting to take a ride to a ranch and seek out a cowboy. Mackenzie was so hot because she was not shy at all about what she wanted. She was not shy about owning her sexuality and being comfortable with her body. I LOVED THAT! When she asked Luke if he needed help......(if you have read the book, you know what I am talking about) - that moment was so hot. I was like "yes, girl.!!"
I read the ebook and listened to the audiobook and they are both two complete different experiences. While both extremely enjoyable, the audiobook, which is narrated by Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton, really takes us on a different journey. Stella and Teddy are two narrators who give their characters distinct voices. Anytime I listen to a book narrated by either of them, it is a new experience.
Wild Mistake is one of those books that made me feel I was back in a very familiar place. It wasn't only Luke and Mack's story, but we got to see how life in Sunrise is going for the Rykers, Wildes, and Langstons. We also have Travis back in Montana. It was so much fun seeing them all interact and building relationships with one another. I love the friendships, love, and support. I cannot wait for more.
I love everything about the cowboys in Sunrise Montana! I would encourage everyone who hasn’t read the Ryker’s Ranch and Wilde Ranch Series to get started right away! Each new book brings with it new surprises, new characters, and new swooning opportunities. Mackenzie and Luke have known each other for many years and have great respect for each other. That is always a good thing in a relationship, but it also brings in some complexities. Mackenzie’s brother, Nash, is Luke Wilde’s best friends. Mackenzie has always had a crush on the handsome cowboy who always treated her fairly and with respect. That is always a slippery slope, and this is no exception. Mackenzie is a beautifully free spirit who is finding herself after a previous oppressive and emotionally abusive relationship. Luke is reeling from a cheating ex and has set love aside for good. His attraction for Mackenzie has long been kept locked up tight, but when circumstances put them together in Hawaii on a mutual mission of healing and carefree time away they cannot deny the raw attraction and need for escape. They can find solace in each other. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, right? Right? Deliciously naughty sexy times are the result and you DON’T WANT TO MISS OUT! Luke Wilde’s dirty mouth is a thing of beauty! Luke and Mackenzie wade through all of the cliches of the best friend’s little sister, friends to lovers, vacation fling, and all of their own personal baggage to find something that truly resonates and will not be denied. Absolute true love! The question is whether or not they will realize what is right in front of them before it’s too late...
I love all of the side characters with other potential budding romances. We need to know about Jenna and Wyatt, Claira and Maverick, and so much more - I hope there will be so many more stories of sexy cowboys and cowgirls in Sunrise Montana! So much potential!
Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter in duet are perfection in this audiobook! They deliver excellent performances so you don’t miss any of the snark, emotion, banter, or absolutely soul-shattering desire that cannot, and will not, be denied. Did I mention Luke’s dirty mouth? Teddy is so perfect with his timing - it is a thing of beauty! Stella doesn’t miss a beat with her performance of Mackenzie, who is a strong female character finding herself and her independence. Don’t miss out on this excellent audiobook!
I received an #AdvancedListenerCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
When rancher Luke Wilde agreed to attend his cheating ex's wedding, the last person he expected to run into was his best friend's not-so-little-anymore sister, Mackenzie Langston. Mackenzie was also recently single, having broken off her engagement a week before the wedding. They spent the evening together drowning their sorrows and reminiscing about old times, and at the end of the night, Luke impulsively invited Mackenzie to tag along on his trip to Hawaii the following day. What he failed to mention was that the trip had been planned as a honeymoon for him and his cheating ex, so he and Mackenzie would be sharing a room with only one bed.
Mackenzie and Luke were fun together, with lots of flirty, witty banter and steamy chemistry. What started as a vacation fling quickly started to seem like something real, but neither of them wanted to admit their true feelings because they were scared of how Mackenzie's family would react to the news of their relationship. Just as they began to realize that their feelings for each other might be worth the risk, a family tragedy brought their trip to an early end, and they both said things that they would later regret. Luke's grand gesture to win Mackenzie back was very sweet, however, and I appreciated that they immediately told her family the truth about their relationship rather than risking someone finding out by accident.
Overall, I really enjoyed "Wild Mistake" and highly recommend it for all contemporary romance fans, particularly fans of cowboy or travel romance. It was the first book I've read by this author but certainly won't be the last.

Luke makes a suggestion that may just change his life. Mackenzie has decided change may be a good thing. Even though this book could be considered a standalone, I’m hoping that you will enjoy this enough to go back and read the book and prequel that you may have missed.
The author does a good job at creating tension. You may not be able to see it but you can almost feel it coming off the page. Loved how she would create a situation and once the conversation got started, you could see wheels turning and how things could go one of two ways – what a great way to show that tension that we can feel.
This is a story that would be great to make a picnic, grab a blanket, your favorite bottle – and don’t forget your book – then locate your perfect reading spot. It’s one that you’re just going to want to read from beginning to end in one sitting. But if you’re taking a picnic, you may want to eventually make your way back inside depending on the weather in your area and the bugs that may be buzzing or crawling around.
Of course, our author gives our main characters the perfect setting. One day if I ever get there, this book will be coming with me. But if I can’t then this would become the perfect beach read. I can see reading all the books again once the series is complete. Our author hints at a tie-in book that is in what looks to be a new series. Now I have to figure out which comes first. Will it be Wild Proposition or An Irresistible Chance. Will have to pay close attention to any emails I might receive. But whichever comes first I know I’m in for another wild ride.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Luke and Mackenzie have known each other for forever. He is like one of the family. Both are coming off bad breakups. Luke wins a trip to Hawaii and decides to ask Mackenzie to join him. But they agree to go as friends. Things get heated while in Hawaii but they both agree to work out their bad breakups with each other and then return home as friends. It sounds good but can they forget what they shared in Hawaii and go back to being just friends. Luke feels he cannot give Mack everything she deserves. But along the way he fell hard for her but tells himself it cannot go any further. They had the perfect situation. Both not looking for anything except to have fun and enjoy their time together in Hawaii. Not expectations. They were themselves. She no longer had to hide herself like she did with Dom. She can finally be herself and live for herself. This is what made them perfect for each other and what made this story such an awesome read. But once they return home, they go back to just being friends. Luke is having a hard time with it since he cannot get Mack out of his mind. He thinks about her constantly. Mack feels it too, but she is so afraid of this not going anywhere and her brothers finding out and Luke losing his friendships with them. To her it seems Luke would lose so much, and she did not want that for him. But how long can they ignore their feelings. Can they truly forget what started in Hawaii and just be friends? Or will they admit their feelings and hopefully her brothers will understand that they are made for each other in the forever kind. This is not just some fling and rebound, this is what happily ever afters are made of.
They find warm sand and cool breezes in Hawaii....and maybe the future they were meant to have
Wild Mistake is the fifth book in the Wilde Horse Ranch series and takes us to the sunshine, warm sand and cool trade wind breezes of Hawaii for the story of Mackenzie Langston and Luke Wilde. These two have known each other their entire lives. After all Luke is best friends with Wyatt, Mackenzie's older brother. Both have sworn off the other sex and relationships after some heartbreak. Luke had thought he found the woman of his dreams and future but she had another idea and cheated on him. Mackenzie broke her engagement as it just did not feel like it was supposed to. So she moved back home to Montana to regroup and figure out her life. Mackenzie and Luke's paths cross again at a wedding which has it own gut punch for Luke, as it is the wedding of his cheating ex. Luke has a Hawaii vacation all set to leave the day after the wedding, as it was supposed to be his honeymoon trip. But instead Luke invites Mackenzie and she ends up accepting. Well a honeymoon trip means romance and a lot of passion between the sheets. But this trip will be different ........ or will it when Luke and Mackenzie start to grow closer and things just feel right and meant to be. Maybe their futures were always to be together. This story was a lovely, romantic and very enjoyable story. Both Mackenzie and Luke are wonderful characters who have been written with depth and emotion. The Hawaii vacation is so much fun for them both but what happens when they have to return to Montana?
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Wild Mistake A Best Friend's Little Sister Romance (Wilde Horse Ranch, Book 2) By: Kim Loraine Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Stella Hunter
Oh these cowboys have my heart! Kim Loraine keeps me traveling to Sunrise, Montana and this time we get Luke Wilde's story! After catching his girlfriend cheating on him, Luke is not looking for a new relationship. Mackenzie Langston is home trying to decide what to do with her life. Not happy with her current situation, she figures the place that grounds her would be the best to find herself. When she runs into Luke, her brother Nash's best friend and her longtime crush, she didn't know it would change her life. Now the two are off in Hawaii for vacation, as two friends...or friends with benefits...or will they fall in love? Find out by listening to this gem! Steamy, romantic, and a fun listen, I had to listen all at once! Loraine pulls me in again, pushing all the right buttons with the brother's best friend trope and just leaving me wanting to visit Sunrise again! The Rykers, the Wildes, the Langstons, I just can't get enough of these cowboys!
Exquisitely narrated by Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton, I was transported to not only Montana, but Hawaii! Each voice and each scene comes alive with these two as they give personalities to their characters. I love Mac. She is vibrant and fun. And Luke, the alluring charisma is just pouring out of him. Hunter and Hamilton nail these two with their fantastic story telling and had me all in at Chapter 1!
Another fantastic story by this great author. One that I started reading in March this year. Every single book I've read is brilliant and a completely beautiful love story. This book is about Luke Wilde and how he falls for his best friend Nash's little sister Mackenzie. They are both running from heartbreak and need to find themselves again. And when they start this journey, you just knew trouble would follow them.
My heart broke when an incident happens and puts a spanner in the relationship that was blooming and happen. When Luke becomes cold and distant, I wanted to scream at him for making a huge mistake. I wanted to wrap Mackenzie up in a hug. Jealousy and want make them both look at each other and realize what they both want, need, and miss.
This book is a great addition to this interconnected series of books. It is a huge recommendation from me. I also can't recommend this author enough.
