Edward invited Snow to a the Academy ball. Snow is excited but hesitant. Snow goes into town and meets Hazel a dressmaker. She is odd but surely she only wants to help Snow. Lamps and Lies **** stars Alyeesah (Aly) grew up on the streets. She finds a ring with a genie. She uses one of her wishes to become a princess and attend Grimm Academy. Will Enver forgive her when he finds out who she really is? Alyeesah is a sweet girl who feels terrible for all the wrongs she has done. She wants to save her last wish to free the Genie. Will Alyeesah be able to free the Genie? The author has built a great enchanted world in this series about the Grimm Academy. The characters are endearing. This story is a twist on Aladdin. The story flows and keeps you entertained. Frost and Fears ****stars Gerda is at Grimm Academy because of her prophecy. She has always avoided making friends because of her prophecy. Her prophecy says her best friend will turn away from her and hate her. Kai, a childhood friend has come to Grimm Academy. She is so happy to see him again. Gerda meets Matilda and decides to risk it all by becoming friends with her. Mati is a mermaid with her own prophecy. Can Gerda defeat her prophecy with the help of Mati? Can she save Kai? This was an enjoyable story with interesting characters. The author has created an enchanted world that is filled with wonderful characters. I look forward to reading more stories in the Grimm Fairytale world.

Mirrors and Magic Some students at Grimm know very little about their curse, or may have only learned of it at an older age. For some it is almost an afterthought to their other adventures and overcome with barely a hiccup. Not Snow. She has known about her curse for as long as she can remember and it dominates her life in a way that only those with anxiety can understand. Except her fears aren't irrational the curse is all too real. When the signs indicate that it might be coming to pass, will she be able to stand up to her fears?
Edward is a prince any girl would dream of - he is totally supportive, consent positive and not bad on the eyes. This is a guy who knows history is written by the winners and isn't afraid to set the record straight. He wants Snow to have her own voice and feel empowered and isn't looking for her to be anyone but who she is. Along with a baby unicorn, maybe they have what it takes to help Snow beat this curse once and for all!
This is a loose adaptation of a very familiar story. I loved the way so many details from the traditional story were wrapped into this retelling and re-imagined.
Lamps and Lies A gender-bent, modern academy retelling of Aladdin. This street urchin with a heart of gold isn't looking for a prince, just a chance at a better life - a roof over her head, a full belly. When opportunity comes her way in the form of a genie, she her wish is to go to Grimm Academy, where she hopes to meet someone who will marry and take care of her - at which point she plans to come clean and hopes it will all be good. Maybe not the most well thought out of plans. As you can imaging, one lie leads to another and things rarely go to plan.
Fun addition to the series. This one was interesting in that every previous student was sent to the academy because of a prophesy, and Aly doesn't know anything about prophesies. I liked her friendship with the genie and the romantic relationship that developed. The conflict suited the story well, but reminded me in places of a middle school sitcom.
Frosts and Fears Gerda and Kai's story has far more in common with the traditional Snow Queen tale than the Disney adaptation. Gerda is a loner by choice, trying to avoid the prophesy hanging over her head, but when she is reunited with her childhood best friend, the companionship is too much to resist - even if it is the harbinger of her curse.
Sweet tale of friendship and taking risks. It fits well with the rest of the stories at Grimm Academy - even joking about the ubiquitous balls. I liked that this one had both Gerda's internal struggle to trust people and allow friendships and the external struggle against the perpetrator of the curse. It was a touch slow at places for me, but overall the pacing was good and it stayed entertaining. I was expecting a bit more drama in a few places, but this telling stays sweet and not dark.
This collection from Laura Greenwood's "Grimm Academy" contains the following books from the series:
4. MIRRORS AND MAGIC If you've been keeping up with Laura Greenwood's "Grimm Academy" series, then you know Grimm Academy is where all fairy tale characters go to avoid or stop their prophecy, the original fairy tale, from happening. In 'Mirrors and Magic, the fourth book of the series introduces us to Snow, the re-telling of Snow White. In this version, Snow is a bit geeky, a bit of a nerd, extremely shy, and filled with anxiety. That is until she meets Prince Edward in class. It was great seeing how Snow grew in confidence afterward and came into herself. The story was enchanting with just enough drama, angst, and chemistry to keep the storyline flowing seamlessly. This was such a fun, easy read and was a great escape for a rainy day.
5. LAMPS AND LIES 'Lamps and Lies' is the fifth book in Laura Greenwood's "Grimm Academy" series, and in my opinion, the best one so far! Based on the fairytale "Aladdin and the Lamp" Ms. Greenwood has given the lead character role to Aly, a female street urchin with a heart of gold who has learned to survive on the streets as best she can. When she finds a gold ring in the street a genie appears. Yep, you guessed it, she now has three wishes. She wants to become a Princess, attend Grimm Academy, and find a Prince of her own. Since this is a quick, easy-read I don't want to give away too much of the story but the genie has gone above and beyond what I've been taught when someone asks for wishes. But even at that, Aly has no idea about prophecies until she has one of her own and it's almost too late. I absolutely loved getting lost in this one.
6. FROSTS AND FEARS 'Frosts and Fears' is the sixth and final book in Laura Greenwood's "Grimm Academy" series. We're given another story about a prophecy to come. Gerda, a lowly Baron's daughter, and her childhood friend Kai both wind up at Grimm Academy at the same time. The prophecy has started. What is it, you ask? Imagine having a prophecy that includes the betrayal of a friend and the possibility of losing everything. This retelling of "The Snow Queen" was a fun, quick read with joy, friendship, betrayal, and some heartache. But if you know anything about Ms. Greenwood's writing, you know you'll get your happily ever after in the end.
I have read several series written by this author, and this is one of my favorites… if not my favorite. I love the idea of having a special academy for people who have a prophecy about them, all based on fairy tales. The author does great twists on these, capturing the flavor of the original story while making them completely her own. A few books do have issues, like the one below, but I still find her takes on these classic stories cracking good reads. In this collection, you get the last three books of the series. The books do stand alone, though they are so enjoyable (and relatively short) that I recommend starting at the beginning. It was so fun to binge-read these again.
Here is my review of one of the books included in this collection:
Review of Lamps and Lies: Can a Fake Princess Have a Real Prophecy? I have so enjoyed the Grimm Academy stories by this author. She always manages to create a very inventive twist on an old fairy tale. This one is a take on Aladdin and the Lamp. The book starts with a struggling young woman from the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak, living a hardscrabble existence. Her life is altered forever when she finds a magical ring with a genie attached to it. As typically happens in genie stories, he offers to grant her three wishes, with a few notable exceptions. One thing I like about this story is that the genie truly seems to care about her. He not only grants her wish to be a princess but helps her to be more princess like, assisting with reading, writing, and acting with proper decorum. He even continues to aid her after he has granted the three wishes. Unfortunately, this book did have some issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. Random commas were left in where they should not have been. The book had multiple run-on sentences. Sometimes “that” and “which” were not appropriately used. As I received an ARC copy, I did check the published edition here, but unfortunately, these errors persist in that. Other than that, as always, a great spin on a classic fairy tale by this talented and imaginative author.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Mirrors And Magic I’m a little torn by this story. It’s certainly not the Snow White I’m used to, but I think my biggest stumbling block was in the portrayal of Snow herself. I have a very different opinion of it after reading the author’s note than I did while reading and that’s where my confusion comes in. However, learning what the author’s intent was, may mean that this is all a “me” problem with how I viewed my own issues through the lens of Snow and not anything to do with the character or story at all. On a side note, I adored Edward and the way he jumped in to support her no matter what was happening. Lamps and Lies Much like the animated movie of my younger years, the genie pretty much stole the show here. And between you, me, and the magic lamp, I couldn’t help but imagine this genie in much the same way. I think my second favorite thing about this book was that it flips the gender stereotypes of the original on their heads. I loved that our “Aladdin” was a scrappy young woman willing to do everything in her power (and the genie’s) to make a better life for herself. Frosts And Fears The tale of the Winter Queen isn’t one I’m very familiar with, other than where it’s been retold by someone else. However, I kind of enjoyed being able to come at this with fresh eyes. Gerda and Kai were an interesting pairing. Even after their long separation, they were still able to resume their friendship as if no time at all had passed. I could easily understand Gerda’s jealousy, but I didn’t get quite the same sense of the love necessary for the pair to begin courting. That hasn’t affected my enjoyment of the series and I’m very curious to read what’s next. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
Grimm Academy is the unique place where fairy tale characters go to avoid the bad parts of their stories from coming true. Surrounded by friends as well as enemies, it’s always exciting to see the prophecies begin and the characters doing everything they can to turn it around into something positive. Here we can share three fantasy academy fairy tale retellings, and this author is superb at twisting the tales “just so”.
Grimm Academy Books 4-6 includes:
4. Mirrors and Magic 5. Lamps and Lies 6. Frosts and Fears
*** Reviewing “MIRRORS AND MAGIC (#4)” *** Snow is afraid of apples, combs, corsets, and an almost endless list of things. She came to Grimm Academy for protection because this is where fairy tale characters go to escape their foretold fate. She has spent her whole life nervously waiting for her fairy tale to begin and is terrified of what will happen to her.
When she attracts Prince Edward, she begins to have hope that maybe her prophecy can be stopped from coming true after all. When people care and want to help, it makes all the difference. As Snow begins to start living her life, she is able to have better control over her fears.
This is another of the author’s wonderful twists on fairy tales, in this case “Snow White”! It is very well done, a good story line, well-drawn and likable characters, and enough intrigue to keep the reader’s attention. And the author gives us a very good “life lesson” as well. Grab your copy and enjoy Snow’s story! Then finish the rest of the wonderful tales! You will not be disappointed!
Mirrors and magic: Snow white is basically at a school for fairy tale characters when she meets Prince Edward. Living her life in a scared and careful way, trying to prevent her prophecy from coming true. There's unicorns, smooching and young love... What more could you ask for? Finally letting go of her fear changes her life.
Lamps and lies: Aly starts out homeless and deprived but finds a ring which also comes with a genie. She wishes to attend the academy as a princess... The truth of her humble background comes out and blackmail is the weapon of choice against Aly. How will she get her happy ending?
Frosts and Fears: Gerda is sent to Grimm academy where she gets reacquainted with a childhood friend. Unfortunately, another person has started to attatch themselves to the pair and is seen as weird by Gerda. When the mirror smashes and Kai becomes cold towards her, Gerda is heartbroken by his rejection and preference for Caryn. Can Gerda get him back? I absolutely loved this series of books and hated for them to end... I like the way you are sucked in by the plot from the first and when you think all is lost, it quickly is resolved. It is a unique take on the classic fairytale and I'm grateful for it.

Laura Greenwood’s “Grimm Academy BoxSet Vol.II” is a compilation of the last three volumes on her Grimm Academy Series, and includes “Mirrors and Magic” (Snow White, by the Brothers Grimm); “Lamps and Lies” (Aladdin and the Lamp, A 1001 Nights Tale); “Frost and Fears” (The Snow Queen, by Hans Christian Andersen). In Greenwood’s version of the story, the fairy-tale characters live and interact with each other at the Grimm Academy, where the are been sent to avoid their (often gruesome) fates in the original version of their stories. Seeing the characters well and alive and with a possible future, not set in stone is refreshing, and the vast plethora of characters make the stories worth the while.
Greenwood’s version of the fairy-tale world is funny, entertaining; and interesting. All well-known fairy-tale characters are well and alive, and the idea to sent them to the Academy, to enable them to avoid their fates is highly ingenious. A brand-new take on the fairy-tale trope, fresh, original and fun. The stories offer an amazing blend of the original tales and brand-new twist and situations, that will appeal to both fairy-tale lovers and all those looking for a brand-new story in an original Academy setting.
Books 4-6 of the Grimm Academy series. All were retelling of fairy tales with a twist that made them fresh and interesting to read. All stories are clean and have a different take and made me think.
Mirrors and Magic: Snow is at Grimm to try and dodge her prophecy and while there she meets Edward who has a different take on life. It was a cute fun read as Snow goes from the shy girl to one much braver.
Lamps and Lies: This time its a retelling of Aladdin with a twist. It was a cute and fun read. I loved the twist and the story itself. I loved the fact that the wish is flipped and Aly is the star. Loved the clean story. Made me laugh and liked the bit of suspense.
Frosts and Fears: This time it involves Gerda and her childhood friend Kai who both end up at Grimm at the same time and thus kicks off their prophecies. It was a cute fun quick read with some heartache but a great ending in the end. I loved it and its twist on a fairy tale of old. I had my fingers crossed that Gerda would win in the end and half the fun was seeing her put it all together and rescue herself and Kai.
Mirror and Magic: Bk4: Snow White is at Grimm Academy because the academy is where fairy tale characters go to escape the prophecy. When she meets Prince Edward she's hoping everything will work out. The story is well written with magic, some drama, angst, suspense, romance, and interesting characters. This is a great addition to the series and I look forward to reading the rest of this series. Lamps & Lies: Bk5: Lamps and Lies is filled with twists and turns that made this a page turning read. I loved this author's version of Aladdin and how Aly gets three wishes. I really love this author's imagination and her descriptive writing. The storyline is great and the characters are well developed. Frosts and Fears: Bk6: Frosts and Fears is the sixth book in the Grimm Academy series. In this book we get the author's take on The Snow Queen. Gerda is at the academy in the hopes of escaping the prophecy of her best friend betraying her. I am loving this series and I look forward to reading more books by this talented author in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Will Edward's love help her through ti? Or will Luna be her saviour? The dressmaker seems to be wanting to help, but what tuth is she hiding? Loved it! Lamps And Lies Alladin's lamp - Will Princess, Alyeesah be able to beat the prophecy and win her Prince? Loving these stories! Frost and Fears The last book in this series. Gerda and her best friend have not seen each other for years. Gerda knows her prophecy, and is determined to beat it! Will she succeed? Loved the whole series!

This is a collection of the second batch of three books in this series which combines classic fairy tales with an academy setting. Here we get the stories of Snow White, Aladdin, and Snow Queen, all in splendid reimaginings with an academy setting.
The stories are well written and easy to read, and it is fun to watch characters that are familiar to you tell entirely new stories. The setting and characters are nicely done and we get a bit more depth to the setting as the series progresses. Each character is out to change their fate, but is that possible? Guess you will have to read to find out.
Highly recommended

Books 4-6 in the Grimm Academy series the second set in the Grimm World a well written set of stories that kept me turning pages. The stories are Mirrors and Magic which is a Snow White retelling and is Prince Edward and Snow's story. Then there is Lamps And Lies which is an Aladdin retelling and is Enver and Alyeesah/Aly's story. The last one is Frosts And Fears it is a retelling of the Snow Queen and is Gerda and Kai's story. All the stories where well worth reading and I enjoyed seeing them get their happy endings. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like it when the author provides a box set and you get three books to read instead of one. These books are great, all the fairytales with a twist. Each main character has a prophecy they have to beat, Snow and red apples, Aly the thief and her genie, Gerda and her boyfriend being turn into a person with no feelings. They have to find a way to stop the prophecy and get their HEA. Of course there is the bad person as well that they have to defeat. A good read and with so many fairytales I am sure we will get more tales. I would recommend this book to all who love fairytales.

In these three reimagined versions of fairytales are set in an academy with the chance to tart their prophecies. The characters were fun and personable and the stories were interesting and exciting with just enough twists to add a unique flair to the original tales to make them fun. In Mirrors and Magic, it’s Snow White, her prince and a unicorn that has to break their prophecies. In Lamps and Lies, is Alyeesah, Enver and a genie to confront their prophecy. In Frosts and Fears, it’s Gerda, Kia, and fairy dust that helps to overcome their prophecy. Fun reads

Can the three fairy tale princesses, Snow White, Aladdin and The Snow Queen learn how to change their fate. They all go to the Academy to learn how to escape the pitfalls of their prophecies from coming true. The stories are well written yet each story is retold in a modern way. Can each of these characters change their fate and skip the prophecies? Was fun the way that these stories were written in a school setting. I missed the first three book of the Gimm Academy but going to check them out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love this series, and the whole premise of fairy tale characters hiding out and trying to avoid their curses, basically suspending any chance of moving on or finding a HEA while they 'wait for the shoe to drop.' I loved watching them grow, learn to face their fears, discover their strengths, fall in love, and - yes - chase that HEA. This is another great set of three, including my first read in the series (which was actually book #6), Frosts and Fears.

What if the fairy tales did not turn out the way we all know? What if, instead the hero's and heroine's went to an academy designed to help them avoid or null their prophecies or at least complete them in a controlled environment? In this collection of tales, Snow White, Alys (Jasmine) and Gerda (Snow Queen) all attend the Grimm Academy and one by one must face their prophecies, but the Academy provides guidance and assistance in completing them.

This whole series has been great. I really enjoy this series. You had Snow White with her prophecy, then, and I didn't realize this until the end of "Lamps and Lies" that it was a reverse of "Aladdin". A great remake of The Snow Queen. All the "Princesses and Ladies" of fairy tale have to stop their prophecies. Loved it. The entire series was fun from beginning to end. I'm going to enjoy the other stories.
This is a collection of three fairytales that are being redone to make the outcome different! Each book has a different fairytale that has the hero or heroine going to the academy hoping to change the original outcome. They try to have a happily ever after but have to fight fate to get there and hope to have a different ending!

The author took me on a wild imaginative ride through Snow White, Aladdin and the Snow Queen. The characters were terrific and a little twisted, especially Aladdin where the princess is Aly. The storylines are fun and full of surprises and twists. Loved the uniqueness of the school addition and the peer pressure situations. Prophecies do have a place in their world. Very well done.

I liked this series because even if you knew the original story you didn’t know how these would play out which made them more interesting. I’d never heard of Gerda’s story so I had to google it so I could follow along. I didn’t like Mati too much cause seemed to play devils advocate sometimes. This whole set is worth reading if you liked the original story.

Three fairytale characters find their way to the academy. They are faced with many trials and tribulations. It is a wonderful twist on characters from literature. You will lose yourself in the fun and mayhem with all the characters.

I really enjoyed this collection of books. All three titles included in the collection followed a princess and her journey while she was at Grimm Academy. Some new there was a prophecy related to them, others were unaware. The male characters were sweet and supportive. Fun reads!

This is a different spin on fairy tales, and i am glad that they are boxed together. All three are a great read. This is the Grimm Academy book 4-6. I like reading stories from this author, she writes really well, hooks you right in.
