There has been a major upheaval at Mount Weather. The president has been assassinated. Her running mate, who was her husband, is sworn in as president in order to preserve democracy, but in only a short time his behavior has put the Mount Weather community in a state of turmoil. If that wasn't bad enough, Chinese soldiers have been discovered on American soil and the zeds, already an ever present danger, are continuing to show signs of cognition and teamwork. The motives of both are unknown but do not bode well for the survivors.
After being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the United States Army, David Achord found his true calling in law enforcement. His twenty-five year career included stints with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. A lifelong Tennessee native, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Cumberland University.
Another enjoyable outing from The Rules gang. Not the best edition in the series, but it is still a solid story with enough action and intrigue to keep it interesting.
Once again, David Achord has continued to blow my mind with what I consider to be the best zombie story I've ever had the pleasure of reading. This book of the series specifically had me on the edge of my seat, and also feeling a range of emotion. From pride to dang near actual hate for a fictional character. To me, that's how you know if a story is great or not. Thank you David Achord. I pray that you continue this series for a long time. -Zack
This installment is overdue as Zachariah, the protagonist, has been taking the lead since the Zombie apocalypse as if no other character can survive without his input/guidance. This book started with unexpected revelations: the Newley elected President is dead, and Zach left Mount Weather with his family. The novel looks into the murder of the president and her retinue as well as shedding more light into overlooked secondary characters taking control. I’m delighted with this book as supporting characters need to develop and progress. Fred who is probably my favorite character appears, thankfully. Political affairs were not as overwhelming as the last 2 books which is appreciated. I think those who will enjoy this book will be enjoying the characters development as manipulative, righteous, and scheming elements will be witnessed as characters are not introduced as black or white anymore.
Zombies don’t feature in many chapters, but when they strike, they are a fierce foe. Expectedly, Zach appears to save the day 😅. If Zach didn’t appear, I would have rated this novel 4.
As usual with the previous books, all female characters are too sexually active that they can’t think of anything else. Those who are not, are described as ugly, brooding, old, or manly, and bossy. It is a shame that 8 books down the line, there are no females with leadership skills or admirable characteristics.
This one was a little bit more information and less action. I was happy with it overall. I got a little nervous leaving a comment saying this was the last addition. I'm not sure why that person thought this as the end clearly leaves a lot of things hanging.
I really wish you would have had more information about patient Eve. I'm hoping that the next book is all about her since I feel that's where it was leading us up to.
I hope David doesn't take too long in writing his next book on this amazing series.
I enjoyed this last book. I didn’t expect Zach to be back, based on the reviews i read. Im glad i didn’t follow the reviews and not read it. To me that’s a good wrap up and it leaves us with the idea that those good people Will choose wisely, their next president, and America will slowly but surely be built back with innovative minds.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. I fallowed the author so if their is another installment I’ll know.
David Accord is amazing. His creation of this world is at the top if the list for great zompoc authors. Mount Weather is under a different kind if attack. Only two men can really help, but will they?
I wondered how they would bring this series to a conclusion in one book. This is a very active book, with many twists and turns. Even so, I was very pleased with the way they ended the series. Want more details? Get the book!
This book primarily centered around the side characters of the book. The MC was not in the book until almost the end of the book. The story was in grossing and engaging, but it fell short without the MC. It is worth the read.
I really like this series. Fred! Who could survive without him? I was hoping to read more about Zach was disappointed that I had to wait so long for him. But overall a good read! Hopefully bk.9 will make an appearance very soon.
I really have enjoyed the additional characters and the trials that occur in this kind of end of the world zombie story. A really good look into how messed up we are and how some will not accept the change and others will take whatever they can.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Less action, but that didn't mean the book didn't have me turning each page with suspense. I'm looking forward to reading book 9.
Best book in the series so far. Love that we've branched out into other main characters - enjoyed main character throughout serving as "god in the machine" at the end.
Good read, main character comes back near the end if the book and some new characters look to join the story line. Hope this isn't that last book in the series!

Loved this series until this book... instead of zombie killing greatness. I got a bunch of political nonsense and a bunch of idiots allowing a Trump lite to be elected as president...
