Armed with books in the crook of my elbow, I can go anywhere. That’s my philosophy! Better yet, I’ll write the books that will take me on an adventure.

My heroes are a bit broken but will make you swoon. My heroines are their own kick-ass characters armed with humor and a plethora of sarcasm.

If I’m not tucked away in my writing den, with coffee firmly gripped in hand, you can find me with a book propped on my pillow, a pit bull lying across my legs, a Lab on the floor next to me, and two kittens running amuck.

My current adventure has me living in Idaho with my own gray-bearded hero, who’s put up with my shenanigans for over thirty years, and he doesn’t mind all my book boyfriends.
If you love romance, suspense, military men, lots of action and adventure infused with emotion, tear-worthy moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, dive into my books and let the world fall away at your feet.

This 7th installment in the Whiskey River Road series doesn't pick up where book 6 left off but takes us forward ten years later and Rose and Missy are now seventeen. I thought it was going to focus on the girls now that they are older, especially once a new young man named Tucker was introduced. However, just like the start of this series, Boone and Clem are the main focus with plenty of activity from all of the other family members blended in. All of the ladies still can't stay away from their alpha men, Chet's cranky most of the time but not nearly like they used to be, Rose and Missy have grown up and are starting to cause problems for their parents, just as they did for Chet when they were younger. But then we learn Clem's secrets, thus introducing a huge internal and external conflict for Clem, Boone, and the entire family.

I've always loved Kelly Moore's writing and imagery making it to where all of my senses come alive while reading, but her characterization in this book is some of the best I've ever seen. Clem and Boone have been around since the beginning with moods varying from steaming mad to silliness to sexy. But now she has taken them to a completely different level, demonstrating parts of their characters that I never expected - fear, hopelessness, anger, and resentment. Don't get me wrong, Rough Road will make you laugh (and possibly blush) as much as the other books, but I was floored at the seriousness of portions of the plot and the transformations of Boone and Clem throughout the book.

Did I mention how much Kleenex you need to have on hand while reading this book?

Yes, this book did make me cry my eyes out. But don't worry about it being a downer! Although there were certainly tears of sadness, there were also plenty of tears of joy and laughter. As typical with Kelly Moore, there were plenty of subplots that built tension, added to the characters' depth, and that were just plain funny! There's ample romance, teenage crushes, teenagers going behind their parents' backs, serious storms, and much, much more. And just wait until Clem show's up at Winnie's pampered pet shop to cover Winnie's lunch! That is a priceless scene that will have you dying laughing and cringing at the same time.

Rough Road is a spectacular book that has honestly taken this series to the next level. Moore has poured her heart and soul into her characters and their experiences which is evident from the first word to the last. There is romance, tension, suspense, sadness, and joy all wrapped up in this perfect package. This is absolutely a five-star read which I highly recommend, but as always with this series, make sure you start at the beginning to fully appreciate each wonderful character and their amazing journeys.

A great writer makes you feel all of the emotions. Kelly Moore did that in spades with this book! I laughed. I swooned. And I cried...a lot!

I have come to love this fictional family as much as my own and so this tumultuous journey had my emotions all over the place. I so adore Clem and Boone that the heartbreaks they go through I was right there with them. Leave it to Kelly to mend my heart and theirs in a most gratifying way.
I will always look forward to more Whiskey River Road stories.

HEARTFELT PERFECTION!
A beautifully written heartfelt perfection that from the first page to the last it will wreck havoc on your emotions making you feel and see every exciting twisted word. Enjoy the laughs because this story made me ugly cry and my heart melt all in the same page. A brilliant addition to this series that has me wanting to read it again.

Clem and Boone have been through so much together already but nothing has prepared them for what’s to come. They’ve been happy, together with their daughter Rose. Clem and Boone have to buckle up for the fight of their lives. Will they still have their happily ever after when the dust settles?

Ever since the first book in the Whiskey River Road series I’ve been invested in the complete Calhoun family. This crazy and loving family found a spot in my heart immediately. Every single one of the women are fiery, strong and a force to be reckoned with. Their men and the men of the Calhoun family are equally strong, honorable and fierce loving cowboys. They’ve never backed down from any fight and they’ll stand strong as a family to overcome whatever the universe throws at them.

What I love the most about Kelly Moore’s stories is that she has the ability to make you feel her words. She gets you hooked and makes you fall in love with every single one of the characters she writes about. Rough Road made me laugh, made me swoon while I was reading about young blossoming love and made me bawl my eyes out. Kelly Moore doesn’t spare anyone from heartache but she never lets the bad outweight the good. The Whiskey River Road series is one you shouldn’t miss and I highly recommend this spectacular series.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Kelly Moore is just absolutely brilliant and she is one of my favorite writers . Kelly Moore never fails to pull me in from the start. Her stories move me and Rough Road is no exception. Every story written by her is an absolute must-read and I can't wait to start the next book in the Whiskey River Road Series.

Please note that to fully understand the backgrounds of every member of the Calhoun clan these books need to be read in the right order.

Is it possible to laugh so hard you cry…only to have heartbroken tears flowing down your cheeks a couple chapters later??? Yes. Yes, it is…and Rough Road by Author Kelly Moore is proof of this.

This seventh book in the Whiskey River Road series is an incredible blend of amazing characters, humor, heat, and heartbreak. This book is a smooth transition into the lives of characters in the previous books in the series…10 years later. The main storyline is of Clem and Boone, once again, after their debut, rekindling their romance in the first book of the series. The stories of Rose and Missy (now 17 years old) and Tucker, a love “interest” of one of them, and his story, may remind you of a certain other character in this series.

Author Kelly Moore has written the most incredibly emotional storyline…one that will have you at the edge of your seat, cheering on the characters, hoping for the best, wanting to reach into their world to give them hugs…as well as giving an occasional butt-kicking as well! Rough Road is full of devastating secrets, heavy feelings, resentment, consequences, and healing.

I believe each new book in the series has become my favorite. This series needs to be read in order, and can I just tell you…that ain’t no hardship! The humor and heat in this is book/series will have you blushing, the picture the author describes is so visual, and the Calhoun family dynamic just makes you feel like you are reading from the room they are in.

Like I said, this is one of the best series out there in my opinion, and this is one of those books that you will recommend as an “ugly cry” book as well as a fantastic “romantic comedy”. I absolutely recommend this book with 5-plus stars! It is SO damn good!

Warning: Have your tissues handy for this one! While this story does include many humorous moments, and steamy sexual encounters, it also includes very poignant, emotionally fraught moments. It grabs your attention, holds you captive and evokes your empathy and admiration for the both Clem and Boone.

After reading the previous books in this series, I have come to love the Calhouns. Boone and Clem have been may favourite couple right from the beginning. Boone is definitely an alpha cowboy, a man’s man with a gigantic heart when it comes to his family. He has loved Clem since they were teenagers, lost her for a few years when she left the ranch and him behind, and finally claimed her for his own almost a decade ago. Clem is a feisty, vibrant, give em’ hell woman who definitely keeps Boone on his toes. She also has a huge heart and loves her family unconditionally. She and Boone haven’t been blessed with children of their own, though they are parents now to his orphaned niece. Her odd symptoms of nausea and fatigue soon lead to a surprising diagnosis with a good news bad news scenario. Yes, she is pregnant, and further along than either of her previous pregnancies that ended in miscarriage. But she is also facing a life or death decision that she feels she must make on her own. This decision will change not just her life, but also Boone’s, their daughter’s and the rest of their extended family. Of course it causes hurt, confusion and conflict among the family, especially as they are all there to notice the effects and aftermath of Clem’s decision. Read this captivating book to discover how it all unfolds.

Outstanding! I don’t think I have ever given an entire series, book after book a 5 star rating for each as I have this. Now, having said that. This book darn near killed me. I’m a sensitive reader keep in mind but this was a hard read for me and I needed a box of Kleenex. An emotional roller coaster from start to finish. The story revolves around Boone and Clem. They finally find their way to each other and I was relieved and happy for this couple. Rose was finally able to breathe as no one was trying to take the ranch. Clem finds out Rose is pregnant. Rose should be so happy. Her and Boone struggled for many years to have a child. Boone is sure something is going on with Clem. He feels he’s keeping a secret. When he does find out. he does not take it well. This brings ups and downs and angst I to the story but just when you think all will be well, our author throws us a curve in the shape of a tornado and when it hits, everyone at risk. So captivating and compelling. This is a ‘read I to the wee hours’. I think this is the last story in the series, although I’d happily read on.

I loved, loved, loved this book. Of course I can’t get enough of this series period. I must warn you to have some Kleenex nearby when you read this book! Boone always seems like this rough and tough guy, but he has a heart of gold. I was so glad to see him help out Tucker as Tucker reminded Boone of himself when he was younger. It was fun to watch Missy and Rose fall over themselves because of how good looking Tucker was. This gives me hope we will see the story continue to another generation when the time comes. The news that Clem tries to keep from Boone, Rose and her family is heartbreaking. You will need the Kleenex during some of the trying times they go through. There is also Mother Nature throwing in some her two cents worth of problems for the family. I was on pins and needles reading the book. Ms. Moore has such a way with her writing that I always feel like I am there with the characters going through all the emotions they are going through. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Rough Road ~ Whiskey River Road bk7 by Kelly Moore.
I have been following this series from the very beginning, and Kelly has become one of my favorite authors. When I read her books, I feel that these characters are part of the family and so so real.
Each book follows on from the previous except for this one, where we join the family again but 10 years later with Missy and Rose aged 17.

Rough Road has more from Clem and Boone, it has secrets, new love interest, drama, laughter and tears,(you will need some tissues to hand), and of course suspense.

Kelly has put so much into this book, it was quite emotional at times hard not to put it down. I thoroughly love this book!! I was hooked from page one heart-wrenching beautiful story.

Kelly is an exceptional writer who brings out the very best in her characters, the plot, which brings it all to life. I have no hesitation in recommending this book and the whole series.I am looking for to book 8:)
Thank you so much, Kelly, for the advance copy, and the above is my honest review.*****

An emotional roller coaster from start to finish. Boone and Clem are finally together and happy. Rose is thriving and no one is coming after the ranch. When Clem gets the news that she is pregnant after years of heartache, she should be thrilled, but it comes with a hefty price. All she has ever wanted was to give Boone a child of his own and she finally has that chance and she won't give it up for anything.
Boone knows that Clem is keeping something from him and when he finally finds out what it is, he does not take it well. Can he get her to do what he believes is the right thing or will she still to her convictions? Just when they think they have that under control, a tornado hits and puts everyone at risk. I was on the edge of my seat, reading as fast as I could to get to the culmination of this highly emotional book. Grab a box of tissues and get ready for a highly charged, poignant story about family, friends, love and sacrifice. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in this series.

This book leaves me with a serious conundrum: how the heck do I put into words what I just experienced through it without spoiling the whole blessed plot? First off, keep the tissues handy; you will need them by the handful. This was quite possibly the textbook definition of an emotional roller-coaster ride. Every time the situation brought us down, the author would bring us back up, but then there would be another crazy turn just up ahead. The next generation of Calhoun’s are really coming into their own in this book. However, at its heart it’s Clem and Boone’s journey to try to find true and lasting healing for the hurts neither one of then realized they still had.

Rough Road is a heartbreakingly beautiful story that took me on an emotional ride and had me breaking out the Kleenex box. I fell in love with Clem and Boone in book one Coming Home and was cheering them on to get their happily ever after. But, life takes over and between family struggles and secrets kept will love win the day. I had to give myself a couple of days after reading Rough Road to think of the right words to say in my review and they didn't come so I'm just going to say that this book is one of Kelly Moore's best writing. An unforgettable couple, an unforgettable family, and an unforgettable story completely pulled at my heartstrings from the first page until the last. I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Wow! That was a heart wrenching read!

Clem has not been feeling well and being stubborn as she is she waits too long to find out what the problem is. Boone know something is up with Clem but she is still hiding something from him which will do everything in his power to find out. You see their love is epic second chance love story and the one thing they can’t do is lose each other when everything is so good.

This book! I cried, I laughed and I cried again! This was an unexpected heartbreaking twist on the Calhoun family saga. I love, love, love where each character has ended up so far but my goodness, my stomach was in knots reading this one.

I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.

5 Stars are not enough!! We all fell in love with Clem and Boone when they finally reunited and could only hope that their love created the best HEA. However, life has a way of throwing things at you and only the strong survive. Secrets are kept and love is strained but in the end can Clem and Boone fix what is broken and allow love to prevail. This book had me crying form the opening chapters and kept my heart under lock and key until the very last word on the very last page. Completely heart wrenching but a book I can completely say will change your heart, mind and soul. Bravo Kelly Moore, BRAVO!!

This is a really great book. Be prepared to cry, I was so emotional over this book. Love the sense of family. But the secret Clem has really tears up her family. The decision she makes is really hard. Love how great parents she and Boone are to Rose. Loved seeing Rose and Missy as teenagers. Loved getting updates on all the characters and being so involved in the book. I’m not giving any spoilers, but I do recommend reading it. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and can’t wait to read more on this series.

My first thoughts as I started reading this book was heartbreaking. It broke for Clem and Boone but it also broke for Tucker. The Calhouns have always been a favorite family of mine from their very first book. They are loud, funny, loving, hard working and stubborn but above all family comes first. Coming into the book I thought it was going to be centered around Missy and Tucker but it was more about Clem and Boone. All the Calhouns are present and we get to have a look into all their lives. Please keep these books coming!

Wow! Great book! You’ll be laughing out loud then you will be crying. It jumps years into the future, but it was done great. It was good to see Missy and Rose older and living their teenage years. I can’t wait to see why trouble they get into. Loved how we got an update on the whole family! Not even going to talk about the parts that make you need tissues. Definitely a page turner-can’t put this book down until it’s over.

Kelly Moore has good and truly wrecked me! I had an idea what I would be experiencing by the sneak peek we got from the last book but those notions were torn up, burned and spread to the wind!
You’ll think you know what’s coming at every turn but don’t put anything past Kelly. Will she or won’t she? I asked myself that many times throughout this book. Oh, and have your tissues handy. The whole box.
Bring on more Whiskey River! 5 stars!

Book 7 of the Whiskey Road Series will keep you turning the pages as the suspense of the situation that Clem and Boon find themselves in when she finds out after all those years of trying to have a child together that she is finally pregnant but also as leukemia and she decides that she will risk her own life in order to carry this child to full term. Great suspense and romance with the usual wonderful characters in this family series.

Rough Road is book 7 in the Whiskey River Road series by Kelly Moore and OMG!!

Ms Moore writes emotional, heart pounding books but this one was so much more and the roller coaster ride of such powerful emotions, tears aplenty, family, sacrifice, friends, a tornado and ultimately love to carry them through!! What an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what Ms Moore has in store for us in her next book…

I absolutely adore the characters in this series. This book may be centered around Clem, Boone and their daughter Rose, but alot happens requiring the Calhouns to stick together to handle the hurdles life throws at them. It was hard reading about Clem and her circumstances. They tackle each obstacle together. I was relieved for the ending.
