ABOUT ARROWHEAD NATION
The country of Arrowhead Nation is set in modern-day earth but is largely isolated from the rest of the world due to a totalitarian Supreme Leader and national government. Arrowhead’s primary trading partner is the city-state country of Finnska, which is ruled by a tyrannical warlock and is located a short journey across the Hackensack Sea from Arrowhead.

Named after the shape of its land formation, Arrowhead is surrounded by the Hackensack Sea on its south and east borders, the great Gitche Ocean on its west, and the White Earth Tundra to the north. The country is made up of four states, each roughly the same size. The states were named after their directional location in Arrowhead: Superior North, Sierra West, Bayou South, and Capital East. Cutting diagonally across the country from top to bottom is the Hodag Mountain range, which creates a natural divide between Superior North and Sierra West from Capital East and Bayou South.

Superior North is a rugged snow-covered land, known for its logging in the Sawbill Forest, and its mining in the Taconite Caves. Sierra West is a hot and dry climate full of gunslingers, snakes, and scorpions, with a large shipping port at Devil’s Point. Bayou South is mostly composed of alligator-filled wetlands, but on the western part of the state there is the infamous coyote desert. Capital East is home to the nation’s capital, Zenith City, as well as the Mahtowa farmland which produces most of the country’s food supply.

Each state government is led by an elected governor and protected by a sheriff. They report directly to the national government in Zenith City, which is led by the Supreme Leader. Differing priorities and concentration of resources has left many of the local leaders and citizens at odds with Zenith City. The tension has manifested into a power struggle that will test the country and its citizens to their very core.

Superheroes are always a matter of curiosity and wonder to all. Superhero movies never fail to become everyone’s favorite, especially kids as they have the best abilities to improvise extraordinary things. Thus, a superhero book that can help children to make the characters and action scenes come alive in their minds instead of someone else to do it for them on the big screen can be a different and wonderful idea. The book ‘Roscoe Boone’ written by Joe Field, the kid’s edition of the third book in the Roscoe Boon series, is such a different attempt to gift the middle-grade audiences with an adventurous reading to experience the superpowers of their favorite heroes.

When the one-time sheriff of Bayou south is given an opportunity to win, he faces the challenge with the brawler match of a lifetime for a chance to return to his former glory. He also has to use his special abilities to fend off the relentless witch who tries to stop him from winning. Even though the book has a wonderful style of narration that can attract young readers, I felt that storyline does not maintain a definite order or sequence of events. Despite the flaws, the book is worth reading due to the unique style of characterization and writing language that is easily understandable to the target audience.

Drama and western-type action in the fictitious country of Arrowhead.

Set in a fantasy country called, "Arrowhead," this is an action tale about Roscoe Boone, a giant of a man who has extraordinary strength and a massive hammer that he uses as a weapon. He inherited his abilities and his weapon when he was a young man from a mysterious benefactor and although he was the sheriff of Bayou South state, before he was framed for a murder that he did not commit. Arrowhead is divided into four states, although it is part of the modern world with all of the modern technology available to it's citizens, it is rather like the old "Wild West," in character. Written essentially for older children and young adults, most of the stories are crammed with action and a light taste of romance. Personally, I rather enjoy the atmosphere and the setting of the world of Arrowhead, although the action and the plot are somewhat superficial and is almost akin to reading action-orientated graphic novels. Although this is part of a series, it may be easily read and enjoyed as a stand-alone book.

Roscoe Boone: The Fugitive of Bayou South (Arrowhead Legends Book 3) by Joe Field is a great story for the YA audience and older. With colorful characters, an interesting landscape, a vast and colorful world, and a solid and fast-paced story it doesn't get much better than this. Roscoe Boone is the main character and has been a fugitive for a while, must redeem himself as the former sheriff of the Arrowhead Nation’s state of Bayou South. But he must win a brawler match to achieve that goal. There is a multitude of forces against him though, among them a voodoo witch. Roscoe must use all of his abilities to succeed. Love the highly descriptive writing, the sense of fun within this story, and the engaging story. Highly recommend it for a great read for young and old alike.

Arrowhead legends continues the adventures of Roscoe Boone

This book is the third in the series and Roscoe has a chance to redeem himself but it will require all of his abilities and his battle hammer to defeat his foe. The arrowhead nation is shaped like an arrowhead and encompassed by the sea. There are four states that make up the nation and each one has its own government. There is a power struggle arising in the nations and nobody knows who will win. The characters in this story are well developed and the storyline is fun. This is an easy read that will pull you in and keep you guessing what will happen next. A great read for anyone who loves a good adventure.

Joe Field has very interesting and enjoyable books that my nephews love. In this case, Roscoe Boone, which is the third book in the Arrowhead Legends series, is a story in which the main character is called Roscoe Boone, a fugitive.
The story is very entertaining and as it is not a long book, it is perfect for kids aged 8-12; my two nephews loved it, we read some parts together, mostly at the beginning so that they get engaged in the story.
I would recommend this book and also the author, because his writing style is very good and entertains and hooks the little ones attention.
