Agreeing to be his no-strings-attached, fake fiancée for a weekend seemed like a breeze...Until I found myself sharing a bed with the enigmatic, bearded recluse who's setting my heart on fire.
Our deal was a lifeline, a way to escape my ruthless boss's blackmail and rescue Wyn from his fading success. We had to mend our crumbling lives, but what I didn't anticipate was Wyn sweeping me off to his picturesque hometown, where I'd meet his sharp-witted mother and clash with his conceited brother – a man who revels in his success, usually at Wyn's expense.
It shouldn't bother me this much, but it does. I have my own secrets and battles, yet the idea of anyone interfering with my fake fiancé...
Hold on. We're just pretending. It's all an act.
But I can't help it; I'm falling hard for this enigmatic recluse, and I fear the plunge might be deeper than I ever imagined.
Indulge in the irresistible allure of this red-hot, bearded hero and a fake engagement that's turning into something dangerously real. Loveris a steamy, opposites attract, reverse grumpy sunshine romance with no cliffhanger. It can be read as a complete standalone."[this story] had literally everything. A strong sassy heroine who works hard for what she's got while trying to keep her past hidden and a struggling rockstar who's band is no more and is trying to find his way. Put them together and BOOM you got an incredible story!" - ★★★★★
I received this read as an ARC from the wonderful people of The Hatters Authors Services for an honest review. This book is the third book of the Rockers to Lovers series by Ketley Allison. Even though it was the third book of the series, this book can be read as a standalone because all the books of the series focus on a different character. This book centered around the characters of Dee and Wynn and they are such loveable and fun characters to read. Their story was such a good read with so many twists and turns and broke and warmed my soul at the same time.
I forgot how much I love and enjoy the fake relationship trope because it is just so so SO good and this one was definitely one of my favorites. It made the conflict for this trope even more juicy and I was glued to the pages from the very first chapter. The book was told through the eyes of both Dee and Wynn with alternating chapters and I was so here for it. I’m obsessed with multiple perspectives because they provide so much insight to the overall story because as a reader, we can only see what the main character sees.
Adding multiple perspectives to this read is very important because there was a LOT of conflict in this book and it added a lot of confusion for the reader. These characters also had a lot of baggage from their past that they were holding and they were not open about their feelings ABOUT ANYTHING! They both were just a lot and honestly were the only ones that could handle each other....
Since it was the third in a series, maybe I missed something, but I felt like the storyline focused a little more on Wynn’s conflict than Dee’s. I was kind of annoyed about that because I found Dee’s problems to be pushed at the back end and a majority of the plot was spent on Wynn’s... I just wanted more insight on Dee’s story and I was a little annoyed, sorry for the temper tantrum.
I loved loved LOVED Dee so much. She is such a badass character with a heart of pure gold and she got sh*t on the entire book by every single person. Dee never did that to Wynn or anyone else, why couldn’t they just leave her alone!?! I mean Wynn wasn’t in the best shape and everyone seemed to be on his side while everyone kind of expected Dee to just pick herself up and get over it. NOT COOL GUYS, NOT COOL.... However, I have nothing against Wynn because he is amazing and definitely my pick of the month... can you say.... YUMMY! But.... he didn’t have any tattoos.... Sorry he’s not a rockstar if he doesn’t have some yummy tattoos.....
There was also a little snag in the ending. The plot line was so fast paced and addicting that when the ending came around, I was just a little unsatisfied. It was just over and I wasn’t happy about it.
Overall this read was a great one and I’m on the hunt for some more rocker and fake relationship romances! If you have any suggestions, put them in the comment below!
New Title: Lover: A Fake Fiancé Romance (players to lovers) as of 6/2022
Formerly titled - I'm Not Loving You as of 3/2022
Originally titled - Synced to Us (Rockers to Lovers Book 3) *only find it on Goodreads with this title.
This story is about Dee (Mackenna’s bestie) and Wyn (Mason’s best friend and band mate).
I’m sad to see this series end, but what a way to end it. It has been a few years from the end of Rebel (aka Strum Me); the band has officially disbanded and living their own lives except for Wyn who is in bit of rough patch. Dee is at the top of her game and up for a promotion when her slime-ball co-worker, Dennis, tries to blackmail her with the reveal of her past job, but Dee does not cower.
Wyn and Dee had an interesting introduction and it seems their continued acquaintance didn’t improve either. However, they both need each other’s help and so they come up with a plan.
I just loved Wyn and Dee once they made their deal because, honestly, right from the start you could tell they weren’t faking anything with each other. Wyn was totally swoon-worthy especially once we learn about his tragic past and piece of cr*p brother, Brad. I really didn’t like Brad as well as all his shenanigans and little jealous jabs at Wyn.
Wyn and Dee completed each other and once we learn the truth about Dee’s traumatic past we get know how truly bad*as she is.
I honestly didn’t want this book and series to end; I wanted to see more of Wyn and Dee as a fully functional couple and I would have loved to have another novella on Mac, Mason and their son.
Spoiler for me:
I find funny that Wyn ends up falling for finance woman when his life was ruined by crooked financial agent.
He was ashamed of her finance background and couldn’t give a shit about her escort days, love Wyn.
Where do I even start. This was so much more then a Fake Fiancé Rockstar romance!
It had literally everything. A strong sassy heroine who works hard for what she's got while trying to keep her past hidden and a struggling Rockstar who's band is no more and is trying to find his way. Put them together and boom you got a incredible story.
Ketley has out done herself with this story. I absolutely am in love with Wyn and Dee.
Wyn and Dee know each other through their friends. They're not really friends but a little white lie turns into them needing eachothers help. Dee needs her secret to stay hidden and Wyn wants to get his mom off his back about bringing home a girlfriend.
These two big town personalities return home to Wyn's small town and drama drama drama. His brother let me tell you no other character has gotten under my skin like that man.
The ending completely threw me. I'm talking jaw meet floor. I did not see that turn of events. Let's say karma does come back around.
I have not read anything that Ketley's published that I haven't loved. This is right up on my list of amazing books!
Ok I am so freakin’ in LOVE with Wyn and Dee! They are the sweetest, cutest duo to grace the investment and rockstar scene!
Wyn, the small town boy who once made it big, is our goofy, fun-loving background guy. He takes life in stride, trusts wholeheartedly, and devotes his everything to his family. He’s insanely selfless but also has a side that only Dee can calm.
In the famous words of Drake, Dee “started from the bottom” now she’s here! This woman is fierce. Smart. Strong. Resilient. Even when the world chastises her, she lifts her head up, straightens her spine, and walks the room with her Jimmy Choo’s. This girl has a past, but my sweet Wyn could not care in the least.
When these two give into each other, they are EXPLOSIVE! Wooo, hot and heavy but also sweet and loving 💕 They are the yin to each other’s yang, the peanut butter to each other’s jelly, the calm to each other’s storm.
This is such a fun story that will have you rooting for them and maybe wanting to stab a certain d-bag in the eye while making a hashtag from the past go viral again #DontBeABrad
This is Wyn and Dee’s story. Wyn is a small-town boy who is now a rockstar, who has lost his band, and he takes everything in his stride, and he is totally selfless, while Dee is feisty, strong, resilient, and smart, but a co-worker has figured out her past and is not shy of a little blackmail. Wyn and Dee come to an agreement which will mutually benefit them both, as Dee will accompany Wyn for a weekend with his family posing as his fake girlfriend to get his family off his back about the direction his life is heading, while Wyn will accompany Dee to a work function posing as her fake fiancé to intimidate her co-worker to keep out of her life. These two may be total opposites but the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable. This is a well written story which is sweet, fun, entertaining, and with witty and flirty banter, which all had me enthralled throughout this addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
OMGGGG! Ketley has done it again! This book is THE perfect book for everyone! Seriously! I absolutely loved it! Wyn Riley and Dee Sparrow.....are......PERFECT! As soon as I read the first few lines, I instantly fell in love with Dee. She sort of reminded me of myself and I just loved how she carried herself despite her past. There were some characters that were poo heads like Dennis but I loved how both Dee and Wyn handled the situation. Even if theyre emotions got confused and mixed on the way lol. Mason is absolutely hilarious and I laughed sooooo many times! Im sure youll love him too! This book also has loads of action packed, seat gripping, breath holding moments so embrace yourself and be ready for "Synced To Us" as this is the book of 2021 for me defos!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Xx
I am a big fan of Ketley Allisons writing so I was asked to review this book with an arc. I loved see an wyn an the chemistry between them. Their story unfolded like a flower an was real an intense from the beginning. Both of them struggling with real life issues an insecurities. But both of them brought together to help an heal their past an future. I can honestly say I loved this book I however would of loved to seen wyns brother take a different past an more detail on his mistress an how it unfolded. I was sad for the cliffhanger ending, would of loved to seen how wyns mom managed an also more information on what happened with dees parents an if she ever heard from them again.
Okay, but how freaking awesome was this story?! Let me count the ways…*instert start-eyed emoji*
Ketley Allison delivers a stellar rockstar romance with two main characters I had no problem falling in love with and rooting for. Wyn is as swoony as heroes come and I just wanted to melt into him. Dee is strong, fierce, and the definition of a badass, but she has secrets. Gah, when these two finally give into each other it’s like the Fourth of July times 10…BOOM! So, so good! I really enjoyed getting lost in this romance. Definitely recommend for rockstar romance lovers who like it steamy, fun, with just the right amount of feels sprinkled in.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Dee and Wyn’s chemistry. Dee is this super independent, tough as nails woman on the outside with a heck of a lot of internal self confidence issues that (so far) she’s been able put in a box and completely detach from. But they are always there coloring her decisions. Something you’d never guess from the outside. Wyn is the keyboardist of a former rock band that has split up due to having families and growing up. It was completely amicable. Even though all of his former band mates have found their own things, WYN is still struggling to find his own.
Because of Dee’s past, her co-worker Dennis tries to blackmail her into bowing out of a potential promotion. Because Wyn is tired of feeling like he’s disappointing his family, he decides that if he brought Dee home for the weekend as his girlfriend then his mom will quit worrying. Hence, the fake relationship begins. These 2 are complete opposites yet they work. That weekend at his mom’s house was so touching in so many ways. They’re slowly falling for each other but keep thinking the other only sees this as a contractual agreement. Which usually ends with one of them making a ridiculous comment that hurts the other. Wyn’s bother Brad is a horrible person. Just awful. The only part of the story that had me confused was how Dennis and Brad talked to each other to share notes. How do they know each other? I was confused.
Overall, this is a great read. I laughed. I cried. I loved it.
This book is the story of Dee and Wyn. The sassy girl and the former band keyboardist need to spend a weekend together faking a relationship, but things don't go exactly as planned. What else is new, right? But the author's writing gives this trope a whole new twist. His brother, just... no. And Karma, yes, she doesn't play around, does she? I really loved this book and can't wait to see what else Ketley comes up with. I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Her subway moment yelled I've never even visited NYC. and I'm not even talking about the handrail. Her speed ... And attitude - it drove me nuts
And then the train...
Lucy's age keeps changing - at one point she was same age as MMC which is two years below Brad.. then suddenly Mack was in MMCs year which was 2 below Lucy... Not forcing restitution was just stupid. And how did Mom not Lucy not notice any weird financial abuse!!! There were so many things.that were dead giveaways
I really liked the series, but really wished that the books read in order, because it threw me off with the timelines of the stories. And why is Mason’s story not included in this series? Was disappointed not to get to read his story. Also was disappointed that the band was front and center, and then disappeared! Hubby is a rock drummer, so this series was a huge draw with the band. Ah well, can’t always get everything you want lol
My favorite of the series so far. Enemies to lovers-ish. Friends of mutual friends, who were misunderstood by each other until they make a verbal contract to help each other.
I still echo my same sentiments about the order of the books. They’re all over the place and titled slightly different based on where you book.
Dee and Wyn. Dee has worked hard to be who she is strong independent and loyal. Wyn loved the high life with the band and now in a bit of a rut and trying to help his family keep their heads above water seeks out Dee's help. Both come to an arrangement and sparks fly seriously it's off the charts. Absolutely loved this and could not out it down. 5*
Loved this book! Wyn, a previously well known rocker, who's lost without his band. Dee is a previous call girl who became a financial analyst and is fighting to keep her past hidden. When the two finally come together is a symphony of hear
My overall irritation is why didn’t she indicate HR?? Regardless of what her coworker thought they knew the language that they used is clearly harassment and should have been terms for immediate termination.
