Delicious in Dungeon, also known as Dungeon Meshi, is a manga series that follows a group of adventurers as they explore a dungeon and cook the monsters they encounter.

The party is still deep underground, and Laios, in a succubus induced slumber, meets the legendary Winged Lion. I wonder if it occurred to Laios to wonder how the Winged Lion might taste.

Overall, Delicious in Dungeon is a unique and entertaining manga series that combines dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The art style is also fantastic, and the monsters look both terrifying and delicious. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, comedy, and cooking.

Oh the stories are all converging! The savior at the bottom of the dungeon is probably a demon! Ituzumi saves the day! I am still having a great time reading this series.

For the second volume in a row we're offered a couple middling adventures that don't really advance the main plot, especially since the focus is primarily on side characters. A new conflict is set up between two of those side characters and the central group that should pay off in future volumes, but can we please just finish the business with the sister already?

Side note: I thought Captain Mithrun was a female elf last volume, but apparently he is male. The character now seems less interesting.

First time meeting Marcille for Laios.
Izutsumi learns companionship and reliability.
Kabru’s backstory. A sheltered kid who wanted to explore the dungeons learns everything from their nanny. Cut to the present. Mithrun tells her backstory.
Dungeon masters. Demons. Desires and lack of them.
Not too much recipes this time around, but still enjoyable.

YOOOOOO!!!! This has been one of my favourite ongoing manga series ever since I saw @minovskyarticle (top tier Twitter follow btw) tweet about his love for it - I worked my way through the volumes that were out and then had to wait 8 months for this fucker to drop and GODDAMN was it ever worth it.

We get BIG plot development, we get a BIG monster encounter, we get a BIG goat demon with BIG human hands, and now I have BIG anticipation for the next volume because it seems like we are approaching the endgame and I can't wait to see what happens.

I didn’t catch a bad vibe from the lion but I should’ve. He definitely stinks.
Kabru and the elf dynamic duo brings even more fun to the story.

Part of my 2025 year of friend recs

4.5✨

Some more back stories including Marcille and Laois first meeting and an *interesting* run in with a group of succubi for our party

Honestly I'm surprised that Laois didn't wonder how the winged Lion tasted

A lot of table-setting going on in this volume, but Kui is such a tremendously skilled author that I would be content with a volume of Laios and company watching paint dry.

This one felt really short compared to some of the other Volumes but I liked this one a lot.

Additional thoughts:
- Loved that Izutsumi got her chance to shine and save the others all by herself. It was so sweet how caring she can be.
- The concept for succubi and for demons are really great and feel so new
- Love Kabru and Mithrun as a team.
- Mithrun's story was really interesting and so was his condition. Makes me really excited for what is going to happen next and for how this series will end!

Honestly I think I liked this volume the most so far. The demon illustrations were genuinely kinda unnerving.

Seeing some people complain about how this volume doesn't really advance the plot… Are we really reading the same book?

In this volume:

This volume definitely makes me ask some questions.
For example,
Also, Marcille fits into the 'Lord of the Dungeon' stereotype scarily well. I have a bad feeling about this, yk…

I'm really looking forward to reading the next volume! Also, I can't wait 'til it gets animated, and more people get to know this story, so I can watch some video essays about Mithrun's character lmao.

Volume 9 takes a slight step back from the action (though there is still plenty of that!) and gives us backstory on a few of the characters. Well needed at this point in the story. Starting to wonder.... how long will this series end up being?

Stories:
1) We get to see how Marcille came to be a part of the group and her first dungeon adventure with the rest of them. An obvious bond formed between her and Laios. Oddly enough, his flashback almost get them defeated by a Dullahan!
2) Izutsumi decides to go off on her own the find the Lord of the Dungeon, but returns when the rest of the party is overrun by a group of Succubi. They would be completely gone without her help.... so she rejoins the party.
3) Laios has a vision involving the cooperation of the Winged Lion. He dreams of a united Kingdom where monsters could flourish and work with peoples instead of constantly being hunted by them. This vision will lead to problems from those who wish to see the Dungeon destroyed.
4) Kabru and elvish Captain Mithrun learn much about each other when Mithrun must recuperate for 7 days from a Mana loss. When given the option to leave the Dungeon, Mithrun decides to stay and adventure more with Kabru.

On to Volume 10! Almost caught up!

Recommend.

Vol. 8 ★★★☆☆

Kabru and Mithrun's dynamic is so good. Their chapters, particularly Chapter 62, are easily my favorite of this volume.

We get some lore and backstory with this volume! The reveal in Mithrun's backstory got me worried for what's going to happen next. Also really enjoy this take on the succubi.

Another solid volume in the series. Super cool to get into some deeper backstory for the world and the characters, very interesting. Exciting to feel things ramping up towards a confrontation with the big bad. However, not enough Senshi for my taste.

Me encanta.

(3,6 of 5 for the first weak book in the series)
This is a great manga, entertaining, clever and hilarious. But over time, the basic story got diluted with sidelines, some of them quite far from the main topic. And the "canaries" line, except somehow expanding the world and explaining some part of it, is not very entertaining to me (as the other/old adventurers groups). And quite a big part of this book is connected to that line. and I did not enjoy it, so I may be forced to finish this book. And I somehow lost interest in the main story, thanks to all this "filer". As much as I enjoyed it so far, I may not continue with the next book. And that's big for me, I finished bigger "crap" just to have it done and checked.

I really can't give enough praise to how well Ryoko Kui crafts her story and how naturally she balances the different aspects of it and paces it all in such a natural way. Not to mention the lore and the depth to all of this just seems to get richer and better with each volume as I go along! This really is excellent and I can't recommend it enough.

9.5/10

A really cool issue, in which more development is given to Captain Mithrun, the elven leader of the so called Canaries. Kabru and him confront Sissel/Thistle/the Mad Mage in onoe of the upper levels and end up falling back and deep into the dungeon. In the meanwhile, Laios and his group have to confront succubi, vicious creatures that feed on the desires of humanoids. It's really hard to give further details without spoiling the story a lot, so I will keep it vague.

The storytelling is good, and even if the cooking is taking more of a back-burner in the latest issues, it is not too bad, since more details are given about the dungeons, Marcille, Kabru and the other protagonists of the series. It is well told and a lot of fun to read!
