Adrenaline-fueled, action-packed romance!
Hang on to your seat because this story starts off with a bang and never slows down! Ruby is trapped in a position of working for the Russian mob in order to save her kidnapped father when Elias Gasper and his Xtreme Ops team follow the evidence of drugs and human trafficking to her restaurant. She's not willing to risk trusting anyone, despite the intense chemistry she has with Elias, but he's not a man to take no for an answer so the team sticks around long enough to figure out just what's going on.
Gasper is a wonderfully protective hero, even though his feelings for Ruby catch him completely off guard. Theirs is an unconventional romance, fueled by equal parts passion and mistrust, making this a truly exciting story that kept me glued to my reader and on the edge of my seat. I loved the way the conflicts were resolved, especially those that Gasper brought to the team, and I was overjoyed to see the triumphant HEA for Elias and Ruby as well as for her father and for their injured team member.
I love this series, and I highly recommend this story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I find I can always pick up a book of any type by Em Petrova and be certain that it will be a good or great read. She has a wonderful talent for writing heroes and heroines who are great characters, and who also display great personal character. “Xtreme Measures” is a great story that will pull you right into it and keep you there until the last page. It’s the 5th book in the ‘Xtreme Ops’ series but you can definitely read it as a standalone.
Gasper is the last name of one of the Xtreme Ops team members assigned to ferret out major criminal activity in the harsh climate and difficult terrain of Alaska. They’re continually going after the Russian mafia and its relentless trafficking of drugs, weapons and women. Their latest assignment has them posing as tourists on a fishing trip in a tiny town where the team thinks it’s likely that the smugglers are moving their goods.
Gasper is experienced and highly trained for anything … except the power of his attraction to Ruby, the woman who owns the bar/restaurant in the tiny town. Unbeknownst to anybody else, the Russian mafia has been forcing Ruby to cooperate and facilitate their illegal activities by threatening her with the destruction of something very important to her. She is struggling under the massive pressure being put upon her to go against her own moral standards and help them commit their evil deeds. Chapter by chapter the tension builds. Despite the secrets they’re keeping from one another, Gasper and Ruby both recognize the power of the indescribable connection that has blossomed between them.
The dramatic and satisfying conclusion to this story definitely doesn’t disappoint. Throughout the story it’s nice to learn more about secondary characters iwho were featured in prior books of the series. It’s like visiting with family, if you happen to have a family full of rugged, good-looking men! It’ll be great to catch up with them again when the next book in the series comes out.

The latest book in Em Petrova’s Xtreme Ops has everything we’ve come to expect from this edge of your seat, action-packed and utterly thrilling series as the elite warriors tasked with protecting US soil go head-to-head with the Russian Mafia. Xtreme Measures is book five in this series and I can honestly say that these stories just keep getting better and the characters are as always tenacious, stubborn and totally unwavering in their determination to fight evil and solve certain issues in their own precarious way.
Elias “Jack” Gasper is a powerful, focused and unmovable mountain when it comes to doing the right thing and getting the job done, and is definitely NOT looking for a happily ever after. However, one encounter with the feisty and irresistible Ruby Ryan has his heart racing and other appendages standing up and taking notice. But something is definitely not kosher in Ruby’s world and Jack is adamant that he will be the one to rescue this particular damsel in distress.
All members are front and centre in this exciting book (with the exception of one on the injured list) and the description of them all walking into a small Alaskan bar is priceless! Xtreme Measures is aptly named as the events that unfold are covert, perilous, life-threatening and passionate, as these capable and resolute soldiers risk all for the safety of their country and the citizens they are determined to protect.
Ms Petrova has always been a favourite author of mine, and I’m in awe of her flawless storyline development and the easy ebb and flow exhibited in such intense and multifaceted plots. Then we have the myriad of complex and interesting personalities she outlines in each and every story which only enhances the overall enjoyment as you delve between the pages ans uncover the mystery held within. This is certainly an author whose talent has grown over time and I’m sure she will continue to inspire and intrigue her readers for many years to come. Thank you, Ms Petrova, for a fabulous, thrilling and unputdownable read.

Book Five in the Extreme Ops Series is Gasper and Ruby’s story and it has the special Ops in a super small town in the wilds of Alaska trying to figure out what’s going on with a small bar/restaurant/brothel and or all the above smuggling ring involving possibly the Russian mafia/Bratva and somehow the restaurant owner Ruby Ryan might be involved against her will which is to be determined. Elias Gasper aka Jack is known for his ability for calming hostages and getting information, assessing a situation and meeting the challenges thrown at him, but he is finding trying to get Ruby to open up and talk and let him and his team help has been his biggest challenge so far and all while fighting his growing attraction to her. Ruby has had such a hard time of things, having to take over a business that her father ran into the ground and try to save his life from the Russian mafia killing him for how deeply he got into them. Ruby feeling responsible for trying to get her father out of their clutches alive even though he never did anything for her, somehow she felt she needed to do the right thing. She found herself falling for Gasper but denying herself happiness until she could fulfill what she felt she needed to take care of, so through all these challenges they don’t speak about how they are falling for each other. This story is fast paced, action packed, suspenseful with its share of danger, fear, trauma and heaps of drama to go with some bumps in the road. From the first word you can’t set this book aside. So much red hot chemistry between Ruby and Gasper. You will be hanging on the edge of your seat reading faster than you thought possible in order to find out what the heck could possibly happen next! This is a must read, an excellent addition to anyone’s library. But, make sure you have ample time on your hands cause you are not going to want to set it down for any amount of time. Xtreme Ops was on a mission once again trying to do the impossible to eradicate Alaska of the Russian Mafia. The first part of the mission got Paxton seriously injured and out commission for several months. The second part of the mission sent the rest of the team to a small sea side village to a restaurant/brothel the mafia had taken over from Ruby to force her to pay off her father's gambling debts if she wanted to see him a live again. They were using her place to sell women and drugs. Thanks to the earlier raid, the Xtreme Ops team was able to somewhat trace the trafficking to the Anchorage area which eventually lead them to White Fog. Ruby's restaurant was the only place to eat in the entire town, so the team had no choice but to eat there. Ruby was not happy to see big burly men such as them as they were all dressed in street clothes. The bouncers wanted her to get rid of them fast, but she could only move them so fast, and Gasper watched every step she made. They all knew there was something strange about the restaurant with there being to many employees for the number of customers. Gasper made passes at her until he got her to trust him enough to give him information. There was electrifying chemistry between Gasper and Ruby, whenever they were near each other. This was a fast paced high action story that will grip you from the first page until the end.

Elias is a member of the Xtreme Operations group for Homeland Security, and thus is in an ongoing battle against the Russian Bratva who use Alaska as a drop-off zone for women and drugs...and with their latest bust they discover there is a problem in a small coastal fishing and tourist village...White Fog...which has a Bed and Breakfast, scenic views of the Alaskan mountains and Bering Sea and Ruby's Bar/Restaurant and Hostel...but because of her father's gambling debts to the Bratva, her father a prisoner, she had trafficked women who were promised rich, American husbands and a life of ease, but found themselves working in a brothel run by Ruby. Barrels of pure grade heroin came into her bar under a disguise of liquor deliveries with Bratva thugs making sure nobody could change things for the town...and she saw no way to escape and save her father's life until Elias comes barreling into her bar and heart...but could she trust him to save her, the women and stop the thugs who were planted in her business??? I am a huge fan of the romantic suspense genre and I am quickly becoming a huge fan of Em Petrova’s Xtreme Ops Series. She is a phenomenal writer, who’s story telling ability keeps you hanging as you go page by page.

This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series and the characters is achieved.

Despite everything their chemistry is off the charts and their attraction to each other is hard to deny. Xtreme Measure is the 5th installment of the Xtreme Ops Series. This time it is Elias "Jack" Gasper's turn to follow in his teammates' lead and fall head over heals in lust... but can lust just as quickly turn into love for him and Ruby Ryan, owner of Ruby's Place in White Fog, Alaska? She is sexy as heck but even more secretive. Will he be able to break through her incredibly thick walls to discover what feels so incredibly off about her restaurant and town in order to save her in time?
The storyline was unique and interesting but the chemistry between Gasper and Ruby fell a bit flat. It just wasn't as explosive in chemistry as the lead characters in the author's previous novels. I also finished the book wanting to know a bit more about Gasper's background story. I didn't feel like I knew him as well as previous lead male characters. Regardless of these slight shortcomings, the Xtreme Ops Series is still my favorite series to date by author Em Petrova. I highly recommend beginning with the first book and devouring your way through the entire series if you have not already. It's the perfect way to while away your summer days.

I loved how this book seemed to held so much more tension and danger than the others as the team are all right there in the middle of all the bad stuff happening but they are still working on piecing it all together and Ruby the owner of the small bar slash restaurant slash inn and more is right in the thick of it where one wrong move could end her life. You can feel the tension and desperation Ruby has to get out of the situation but being unable unless she sacrifices her father who although not a good father is still her family and the opening Elias "Jack" Gasper gives her ramps up your nervousness of how bad will things get before they get better. Jack and Ruby's attraction is undeniable and thankfully Jack is determined not only to get her to open up to be his as well. But when feelings run high the danger becomes closer and hard decisions have to be made not only for the team but also for Ruby. This has you wondering whether someone in the team may not make it as well as could this time the woman Jack has fallen for be too hard on herself and refuse to have a HEA.

Drug and human trafficking, the Russian Mafia and a woman caight in between a rock and a hard place trying to save someone are the backdrop for Xtreme Measures. The Xtreme Ops team is once again going after the Bratva. Elias 'Jack' Gaspar is a darned good operator. He's the team's utility man. There's very little he can't do so having Ruby Ryan completely gobsmack him when he first see her is a new experience. Ruby is caught between a rock and the mafia. She's trying to save her father's life by paing off his debt, keep young women safe and run a business while having everything she does scrutinized by a couple of Russian bouncers. Having a group of very large men invade her establishment doesn't bold well. The Xtreme team know there's something off at Ruby's and Jack makes it his mission to find out what it is. Ruby captivates him and that's something he's never felt before. Coming clean to Jack is a big risk but things are spiraling out of control. Now she just needs to control the narrative. But, you guessed it. Things go off the rails rapidly but the team is on top of it so the outcome is optimal. Jack and Ruby get their HEA and she gets to claim a new life.

Gasper and Ruby have an instant attraction to each other. However, with way too much as stake, Ruby does everything she can to get Gasper and his team to leave.
I liked the character of Ruby. She is between a rock and a hard place. She wanted to right by family but yet she felt the need to protect the people under her care. You could see that even though she had a hard exterior, she was soft and squishy on the inside and just needed help.
Gasper wasn't helping at all. He was more of a bull in a china shop and knowing that Ruby was in trouble but was acting more like a protector of his woman than a trained operative that he was. I did enjoy (OK enjoy isn't the right word) but when his supervisor called him on the carpet about being too close. It made it feel more real and that there were consequences for his actions.
The book was very suspenseful which I enjoyed. You were rooting for Ruby from the first moment you meet her, but even you couldn't figure out how to help.

Elias Gasper a/k/a Jack-of-all-trades to his Xtreme Ops teammates find themselves in a small fishing town of White Fog, AK to bring down the Russian Bratva that are using a bar/restaurant/brothel to ship and sell their heroin and traffic women. Ruby Ryan is the owner of the bar and thanks to her father’s gambling debt to the Bratva, she is forced to work off her father’s debt or he will be killed. When Jack and his team walk in her restaurant and he lays eyes on her, he is totally captivated with her. With the mafia watching her every move, she tries to get him and his team to leave. Another awesome storyline with danger, suspense, passion and a bond that grows stronger and stronger between Jack and Ruby. The characters are strong, independent and grow throughout the story. I loved this series as they are all hard to put down reads.

Ruby's life is very stressful. The Russian mob is keeping her father because of the debt he owed them. They are also using her bar for illegal purposes. This has an added stress to her. Elias is a member of Xtreme Ops and with his team they have been trying to put the Russian mafia out of business. Everything leads them to Ruby's bar and sparks fly between them when they meet. Ruby just wants to have a life without the threat she is currently living with. When she learns what Elias and his people are there for she takes a big risk in helping them. Elias wants to make sure Ruby is safe but he needs to do the job he was sent there for. Can he do both or will he have to choose? Will something more come of them being together?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This book revolved around Elias/Gasper/Jack and Ruby. I am talking about non-stop action and suspense with healthy doses of romance and steamy scenes.
My thoughts about Ruby morphed as I read further into the book. Ruby's character also began to change after she encountered Elias. This book was also emotionally charged as Elias and Ruby tangled with their feelings for one another as well as attempted to keep their heads on straight while dealing with the existing op.
I normally don't bother to give a book a 4.75 rating, but this will be the exception. It's either 4.5 or 5 if I am going that high. The only thing I would have liked to see more of is Ruby's encounter with her father, and a little more of Jack and Ruby's future.

This is the fifth book in the Xtreme Ops series. Each book can be read as a standalone but they are connected through the members of the Xtreme Ops team. Em Petrova has done it again, another awesome, steamy fast paced military romantic suspense. I have loved every book in this series and have been looking forward to this book. The author does a great job of pulling you in to the story. The guys in Xtreme Ops are definitely alphas. I love that the author writes the women in her stories to have a backbone and are independent but these tough alpha males also have a soft spot for the women they love. They'll die to protect but they also recognize that the women they love can protect themselves. Gasper and Ruby's story is explosive. Exciting, well written story.

This steamy action packed romantic suspense had it all with shootouts, sales of illegal drugs and humans, a kidnap victim, and a woman forced to do things she doesn't want to in fear of what might be done to her if she doesn't and the fading hope of freeing her father from his captors. I can't imagine living a life where I would sell myself because it was better than what I had before in the hopes of something better. Elias Gasper laughed when his teammates fell head over heels for their women but he does the same in this book, acting recklessly at times because of his feelings. The romance between Gasper and Ruby develops quickly. I was surprised she let him in knowing she was being watch all the time by her handlers and the risks involved. But he was going to do whatever it took to save his girl and those she felt responsible for.

oh wow a fantastic story. Ruby is in over her head and can't find a way out. Her father owed the mafia money and they are holding him and making her pay the debt using her bar. She is in Alaska and is in an isolated town. She has a little say in what goes on and is reminded often whats at stake. Elias and his team are trying to find the Russian mafia and put them out of business, while saving the women they off and getting the drugs off the streets. When they go in to Ruby's bar for food and a place to stay they find things are odd. Too many women working in the bar, too many women period and why would this bar need two bouncers? Elias has feelings for Ruby when he sets eyes on her. Will Elias and his team be able to help Ruby? Must read to find out.

I loved this amazing story! I have been a fan of this series since the beginning. I love reading anything by Em Petrova. I loved the interactions between Elias Gasper and Ruby Ryan. I didn't want this story to end.
Elias Gasper is a jack of all trades on his Xtreme Ops team. Their latest mission is to crack down on the Russian mafia's smuggling ring. They believe that they have found something when they stumble on it in White Fog. There is something weird going on in the bar in that town. Ruby Ryan is doing what she can to keep her father alive and unharmed. She hates herself but sees no way out. She is not sure why she helped Gasper or his team at first. With the Russian mafia, anything can happen. Will Gasper be able to keep her safe?

Ruby is in serious trouble as her father is in deep to the Russian mafia and to save him she has to keep the bar/restaurant/etc open in a little town in Alaska. She is responsible for people and has to keep them safe. Enter the Special Ops unit and Gasper, who sets his sights on her and can not wait to unravel what is going on with her. His tactics of interrogation may not work on her as she tries desperately to get them to leave town before the truth is found out. The characters are strong and determined. The storyline is suspense, drama, surprises and twists galore. Romance does change things up some as they both fall hard for each other. Loved how the team and Ruby worked things out. Many toasts at the bar, in the end.

Being trapped in a vice to keep her father alive, Ruby’s establishment is being used by the Bratva to run booze, drugs and women through into the country. She also tries to look after all the girls that come to her and it is all getting too much, she is at breaking point, tired, scared and angry. When the Xtreme ops team show up at the restaurant to eat before their assignment starts they pretty soon pick up that something is amiss. Elias is immediately focused on Ruby and tries to get a grip on what is going on and how he can help her, but she is full of barbs and feisty to boot. Another very enjoyable read in this series of tough men who are made vulnerable by the women that capture their hearts, with a good storyline, great characters and lots of action, steam and suspense.

Gasper is completely committed to the Xtreme Ops team. He's not looking for a woman but the universe decides it's time for him to find his one true love. Ruby is in a really bad place and she is not looking for a man. And then they meet and they just can't stay away from each other! And then love happens. Yup, that about covers it.
I liked this story because even though it is a super-fast insta-love, there is a very solid story that brings the characters together. I did have an issue with the fact that the bad guys didn't seem to realize that the good guys were in town but maybe they were just idiots. This story was so fast that there was no time to stop and wonder about some of the oddities (for example, the girls that live in Rudy's guest rooms....that's all I'm going to say about that). Bottom line, I liked Gasper and Ruby and I liked how they came together so I recommend the book.

Xtreme Measures follows Special Operative Elias Grasper and restaurant bar/hostel owner Elliana Ruby Rynizski (also known as Ruby Ryan) through their journey of love, brothels, and mafia. Ruby finds herself in a predicament where she has to do the unthinkable in order to get her father back and out of harms way. Elias wants nothing but to help save and protect Ruby.
This is my first book of Em Petrova and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. Absolutely loved it!

The latest in Em Petrova’s Xtreme Ops series, “Xtreme Measures,” has all the steamy chemistry and bullet-dodging action in the Alaskan wilderness that we’ve come to expect in the lineup. Elias Gasper is known as the jack-of-all-trades of the team. He’s protective, sexy and falls victim to an instantaneous attraction to a woman who is under the thumb of the Russian mafia. Ruby is a gorgeous, gritty bar owner who has been under an insane amount of stress for longer than she can remember, and the element of danger is only ramped up by the appearance of Gasper and his team. The HEA for these two is a long and treacherous road, but those sexy scenes and the sweet moments? Wowzers! Looking forward to the next story in this series!

Like a Disney story?
No Ruby, not quite...although the Happily Ever After would be nice!
Another fast paced, high action case for the Extreme Ops Team but it is a close call for one of their own and Gasper finds something he didn't know he was looking for, is it the one thing he cannot master?
Your heart goes out to Ruby, she is in a no win situation, with peoples lives on the line every day....one false move and someone pays...with their life, not hers. She may be beaten down by her captors but they have not broken her and she retains her feisty spirit, even if it is buried until Gasper. He may be off limits but he calls to her, body and soul....he is her forbidden warrior but can he also be her saviour?
Such a kickass series, I love every book. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Xtreme Measure is the 5th installment of the Xtreme Ops Series. Each Xtreme Ops member has a book but the books can be read as standalones .This book is about Elias/Gasper/Jack and Ruby.

Elias and his team are trying to find the Russian mafia and put them out of business. Tracking the Bratva leads the Ops team to Ruby's bar. The attraction between Elias and Ruby is instant. This is a well written story with great characters.

This is a story that makes you think, what would you do for family?
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
Ruby is in a terrible situation. Her dad is being held by the Russian mafia and they also have control of her tiny bar/restaurant. How much longer can this last?
Then a group of men walk in and she knows they will be trouble. She never expected what really happened.
Gasper/Jack is all about the job and keeping his team safe, but something about Ruby has him making decisions he would never make.
Is this love? Does it go both ways or is Ruby just using Jack?
Loved this book. Lots of action to keep you reading and Hot action too.

Elias ‘Jack’ Gasper got enough information from the prisoner for the team to have an area to look at closely for the Russian mafia’s local stronghold. The small costal town has a restaurant/bar run by Ruby Ryan but one look at her on their first visit, Gasper knows two things: he wants to know Ruby much better and she’s scared out of her mind.
The team looks around quickly and notes Ruby’s Place is grossly overstaffed with women who don’t speak English, there are bouncers at the door and their visit prompted Ruby to switch the window postings. Gasper gets closer to Ruby who subtly gives the team a clue but the bruiser sized bouncers wants the team gone and charge Ruby to get it done!

But next she knows Jack and his mates show up. She wants to keep him safe and he her.
Sparks and more fly everywhere, Jack has never had this feelings before.
Great read full action, protectioon, evil guys and the good guys, a strong woman and more.

The Bratva is back in Alaska and the Xtreme Ops team traces them to White Fog. The team goes into Ruby's Place for lunch and realizes there is something is off. But will they be able to get any help in determining what is really happening?
The attraction between Elias and Ruby is instant and off the charts when they are finally alone. Throughout the story, we get to see how strong Ruby has been with everything that she has had to deal with due to her father. And Elias has to decide if he will follow orders or ignore them to protect Ruby. There is lots of action, some well placed humor, and plenty of alpha males in this story.
The attraction between Elias and Ruby is instant and off the charts when they are finally alone. What a great book! Such a roller coaster ride of a book that just keeps going and going.
Ruby was such in a situation with the Bratva Mafia and didn't know how to get out of it until a special ops team turned up and Gasper took a special interest in her.
Dramatic and so intense, those Bratva boys are certainly bad news. Trapped in a no win situation, Ruby didn't know how to get out of it and was trying to protect everyone else.
Extremely well written with great characters and a team spirit I just enjoyed immensely, I haven't enjoyed a book so much in a while. Fantastic job Em!!!
