But I read this book anyway. And I thought since all he did was kiss her I could handle it. And I was wrong. He had an emotional affair with her for a while. It was not someone he just met, they worked together and he even had his phone number in his cell. He did block it but not until months after he kissed her. I didn't like that he bad mouthed Hazel to his wannabe girlfriend either. And to his pig of a best friend too. So that is all the bad.
There was good too. He was very remorseful. He really tried hard to win her back. His persistence was commendable. He was truly sorry.. So I gave it Three stars. I just felt Hazel's pain. And the scene with the Clorox and the bed, been there done that myself and that made it more real to me. Doc was a good guy too. I just didn't feel his advise was that good but I definitely liked the premise of him. Will give this author another try for sure. Very engaging.
The blurb pretty much sums it up, Hazel and Graham have been married for years. (12 I think) They’re both very career oriented (her a lawyer/him a pilot) and have drifted apart as so many couples do. She throws herself in her work and confides in her bestie, but he develops an inappropriate “relationship” with a co-worker. (flight attendant-Jackie)
The book opens after the couple have separated because Hazel was sent pics of Graham laughing, talking, holding hands at a table, and kissing.
First let me get the safety out of the way because that will be most important to many readers.
The Good- 🟩 The H has ZERO interest in OW and is completely dedicated to saving his marriage. 🟩 The H makes instant life changes including his very important career to be able to dedicate more time to his marriage. 🟩 Great grovel. He takes full responsibility and seeks help to become a better partner.
The Not-So Good ❌ The couple spend the first 20-ish% not speaking. ❌ I realize he needed to make amends and grovel, but I felt like everything was very one sided. IMO, it takes two people to let a healthy marriage fail and both need to be committed to fixing it. ❌ The person who sent the pics was a huge plot hole.
Bottom Line- I liked it but didn’t love it. I really liked Graham and all the effort he made to save his marriage (which was crashing because of his actions), but I had mixed feelings about Hazel. She just never felt that into it. He did all the heavy lifting, and she took no responsibility for her part.
She gave up immediately on the marriage and put no effort into salvaging it. Even her epiphany Whatever happened, whatever broke us, it didn’t start with Jackie. was followed up with a laundry list of his failings. He stopped chasing her. He stopped prioritizing her. He worked long hours and traveled. It left her with no culpability for the breakdown of the marriage. He needs to change. He needs to prioritize. He needs a new job. He needs to chase. He needs to feed her, to drive her, to woo her.
His mantra … Not always my fault, but my responsibility. supported all the above and IMHO that dynamic (one person giving everything while the other takes everything) does not make a sustainable, equally fulfilling, healthy, happy marriage. So, I was left feeling bereft with the reconciliation. I just wish she would’ve had some growth too. 🤷
It's on KU and the epilogue sets up the next book. His best friend's arranged marriage.
Second chance, marriage in trouble, H cheated emotionally as well as kissing OW who is a stewardess and a work colleague. Yeah yeah, I KNOW. My stomach was in knots while the book downloaded and opened. THANK ALL THE STARS IN THE SKY that the kiss happens off page and before the beginning of the book. First chapter is the hero trying to find heroine as she has left their home. Someone had mailed pics of hero eating, smiling and holding hands with OW. When confronted as he is leaving for work (he is a long distance pilot), he confesses that he kissed OW. Through his thoughts, you see that he immediately regrets the kiss while it is happening and pulls back thinking of his wife. Hero and heroine have been married for 12 years and drifted apart due to work schedules. In conversations with hero's friend, you find out that H and h have been more roommates and that hero has voiced his unhappiness to bachelor friend who....honestly I don't know if he was trying to really get the hero to give up his marriage or shock him into getting his head out of his butt. Anyway, the mechanic featured in prior books shows up to Yoda this guy. Hero's remorse and slow realization of the damage was great to read, ESPECIALLY when he realizes that there is a younger, hot guy circling his wife. OW tries to approach him and he finally shuts her down beautifully. Even though it had cheating, this may be my fave of the series so far because the drifting apart is so relatable.
Note to self: when in sever reading slump DO NOT read trashy books that you know from the review has trashy plot with a dose of sever stupid pathetic FMC antics and stupid disgusting MMC shit. You’ll only prolong the slump after.
👿the cheating was a kiss and time spent together; pilot/stewardess 👿he admits he wasn’t going to tell her he cheated 👿his initial reaction to the confrontation is irritation, denial, brushing aside the obvious proof 👿his initial reason for working on their marriage is so that he can pass his health exam iot work again 👿he’s thoughtless when, after stringing the ow along, he doesn’t make it clear to her that he chooses his wife 👿while he does have to grovel the h should also take responsibility for the already failing marriage (before the advent of ow) 👿who’s lying: ow or H when they both say they initiated the kiss? 👿he used the willing ow as a distraction from his failing marriage 👿no closure on how long the H and ow spent time together
🧐 writing style feels “abstract”. I prefer solid wording for this kind of scenario
❤️No on screen H and ow intimacy; only photos ❤️He grovels well and long ❤️She. Does. Not. Give. In. ❤️He really does love her ❤️He makes big changes in his life iot work on their marriage ❤️The ow doesn’t feature in his mind once the beans are spilled ❤️He didn’t love the ow ❤️Lotsa ow no. 2 drama: an ex gf that he cheated on in college - he can barely recall her ❤️Hxh don’t sleep with anyone else ❤️Nice ending
This is a great romance because it is close to reality. There are so many take aways from this book but it is not just a marriage repair guide, Nia's writing describes the passion between the couple without having to go into the bit gritty details. That takes skill to get you hit and bothered without the obvious. The only negative is that the crux of the couple's breakup was not severe enough for me. Yes, kissing another woman is a no no but at the same time I could get over that if I see remorse. But then maybe that was the problem. The husband didn't have so remorse until his wife left him. Yet, I still want something more severe.
It was an ok read for me. But I really did miss how they resolved the emotional cheating. There's the kiss, but what about the rest. The hand holding, going to restaurants. What did Graham do to lead Jackie on? To me the book was a bit surface and didn't explore the deep lying issue.
What I liked: I liked how Graham knew he messed up and did everything to fix it. I also really liked Doc. He was a great character and I enjoyed how he helped Graham by fixing the car.
What I didn’t like: Is it weird for me to say that I didn’t care for Hazel the heroine. I felt like she should of given Graham the chance to tell his side when the “ex” shows back up. Hell he quit his job and has been doing everything to earn her trust and she is just going to believe a woman scorn. Also, I really wanted some karma to get the so called ex.
How hot was it: 3 out 5
Details/Triggers: H and h are married. h is sent pictures of her husband kissing a flight attendant (H is a pilot). h leaves and H realizes that he messed up and decides to fight for his marriage. H goes to the h’s best friend and she sends him to Doc. Doc helps the H and shows him the errors of his ways. H starts driving his wife to and from work, giving her flowers and making her breakfast. He also quits his job. During the break up the h stays at her assistant brother’s house. The brother likes the h but she turns him down when she realizes that she still loves her husband. h moves back home while the H moves out. The whole time the H is working on making the h forgive him. Ow that H kissed comes to see the H because he hasn’t been taking her calls. This sets the H back as the h sees her. Finally they get back together but an “ex” comes to visit the h and shows her more pictures. h doesn’t let H explain and stops talking to him. H calls the “ex” and ask her why while recording the conversation. Also, the woman that the H kissed goes see the h and tells her that she was the one that kissed the H and that he doesn’t want her that he wants his wife. H plays the recording to the h and the h starts to realize that the H is innocent. H and h get their HEA.
Final thoughts: This was my first book by this author and I will definitely read more from her. I really liked the grovel and truly believed the HEA. Great job to the author for giving us a book with a great grovel (they are hard to find).

The couple has a short fling, during which they barely see each other, because he (Graham) is a pilot and she (Hazel) is a lawyer. He's gone a lot, and she doesn't have a lot of free time. She expects him to end the fling, but he proposes instead, which she accepts, but she kind of expects it won't last. She doesn't trust "forever."
So after they marry, the novelty quickly wears off, and their real lives get in the way, and the marriage goes stale. The husband, Graham, has an emotional affair with a co-worker, Jackie the flight attendant. They end up kissing.
Someone sends Hazel, pics of Graham and Jackie. They argue about Jackie, and he gets mad enough to admit they kissed. Hazel moves out while he's gone for work. He comes home to find his clothes all shredded with the pictures laid on top of the pile, and Hazel gone. She's staying at the summer house of a friend of a friend, so he has no way to find her.
Hazel's friend Chloe won't tell him where Hazel is, but she does give him a business card for Doc's Auto Body Shop. He goes to see Doc, to figure out if Doc knows where Hazel is. Instead, Doc does some Mr. Myagi guru stuff while they fix cars together. His advice is kind of like, men drive the car (the wife is the car). Men are like air traffic control and women rely on the men. If the marriage isn't working, the man has to come up with the solution.
I mean, I didn't like being thought of as an inanimate object under the control of a man. Also, he chose to cheat, but the marriage had already turned to shit. And part of that was Hazel's fault. She had a lot of relationship baggage and lack of trust. Even without the cheating, the marriage wasn't going to last, and it wasn't all Graham's fault. But Hazel loves attention, so when all the responsibility for fixing marriage gets put on him, she likes that because she gets to receive all the good things but never has to give anything in return.
Also listen to some of it on audible, and there's a single narrator who has a foreign accent, so the text to speech option on the kindle was better.

This is the best book in the series! For me, that is🙂 The writing is fantastic and our male lead character is amazing. His personality and descriptive thoughts about himself, his mistakes, his wife, and his life is THE best. Now, I still feel that more depth could be given to this story, just as I felt about the last 3 books. The ladies get off kind of easy because their "true" stories and real reasons behind their behaviors is not necessarily, detailed. But I get it...another type of story, another 1000 pages, right? But Graham is my guy. He was not a "rollover" and take it type of guy and his pairing with Hazel in this story is spot on! He couldn't be with any other type of person. She's an attorney, fully comfortable in her own skin, intelligent, unapologetically "name-brand" aesthetics..... neither one of them would be attracted to a person who doesn't fight for what they want or what they believe. It was just a great flow of feelings, interactions, arguments, sex, and making up, with misunderstandings, and resolve, and recovery intertwined. Epic. The focus placed on her emotional pain and sobriety was wonderful and I actually felt that I could relate to these characters. Graham's outlook and reaction after seeing Hazel in the park with her male friend was hilarious. I feel in love with the guy!! Such a fun read, and a wonderful conversation about their life, ongoing relationship, and work desires at the end of the story. Just really good writing and I don't want it to end here. So, since I already like Graham's best friend, Calvin, I'm hoping his story is just as good (or better) than this one. Moving on to "Show Me" right now!
First, I want to point out how much I love that Nia writes this series with her dad. They've taken father-daughter bonding to a whole new level. Her dad's a relationship therapist and the character that Doc is based on.
Each book in this series gets better and better. I feel like over the course of this series and their Doc Exclusives series, I've seen Nia's writing get stronger and stronger. That said, I think Hazel and Graham's story is my favorite thus far. This is surprising since I generally struggle with enjoying contemporary romance books where one of the love interests has cheated and we already know going in that they're still going to end up together.
Hazel's a kickass attorney who worked her butt off to get to the top of her field and Graham is a pilot who was basically born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Overall, this second change romance explores what happens when couples get complacent and why it's important to keep the honeymoon phase going even after you've got the honey and the moon.
This book also deals a bit with alcoholism which is a topic near and dear to my heart. Calvin's story is introduced in this book well and I can't wait to read it next. Also, I'm hoping Greg and Jackie get a book in a different series. I have my reasons, but I don't want to go into them because spoilers! However, I think if you love second chance romances where the heroine takes no shit and the hero really has to work to get her back, this is the book for you.
I truly like and appreciate this series. I pretty much only read romance for pleasure and it is rare to find a romance series that is so intentional, meant to be informative--educational even and, actually useful to actual life. I liked this book 4 more that the rest--and I really liked book 1--because the hero was written in the kind of detail that I felt we learned more about his heart and who he was than prior husbands of the series. I appreciated that once he was in with Doc, he kept to the program and didn't waiver from its progress, no matter how much he wanted to. His discipline was impressive to me. My criticism of the story was suspending disbelief at the point that a high-powered, sharp attorney that our heroine was, was so easily accepting, hook, line and sinker, of a long past girlfriend's lies when they simply didn't make sense--not from the moment they were spewed. That didn't work for me and really seemed out of character. But I still enjoyed it very much and recommend the series for anyone who can appreciate meaningful and substantive issues you can actually learn from in your romance reading. Thank you Ms. Authurs and Mr. Authurs.
4.5 stars only because I sometimes didn't like the inner monologue in Hazel's POV. Moving forward, I initially downloaded a sample of book 1. I planned on reading it first and working my way through the series but after getting to the blurb of this one and reading the reviews, I had to dive in straight away. I loved how realistic this book was and the way Graham worked with so much devotion to win back Hazel's trust. It was not an easy road but seeing him so relentless was admirable. I felt Hazel's emotions through those pages, as well as Graham's. Thank goodness the authors didn't make his character cheat physically, aside from the kiss but the emotional affair was just as painful. We didn't get to read about that but it wasn't necessary because details were still given to make the story flow effortlessly. I recommend for those who love to read books with realistic and relatable topics. Happy reading!
This was such a great book. Many times we don’t want to read books about mistrust, but this was needed and written well that you had no other choice but to root for the couple. GRAHAM & HAZEL are amazing together. They are a little older than the other couples in THE LOVE REPAIR SERIES, but their journey was just as passionate. Their passion leapt off the pages, when they were angry, hurt, arguing and loving it was passionate.
GRAHAM F****d up, lost HAZEL’s trust and had to claw his way back to gaining her trust. His past came back to really help him to open his eyes to his past mistakes affect his present issue with HAZEL. I loved that he took DOC’s principles and not only listened and followed but began to sincerely live by them as well.
Such a great story and glad he gained her trust again.
Another great, deep book by Nia Arthurs and her dad as Doc. Very insightful into marriage and how the husband is the foundation that the home sits on, therefore, it must be strong and able to withstand and stand firm for the heart of the home, his wife. Hazel and Graham had been married 13 years and he lost that foundation of marriage by holding another woman’s hand and kissing her and that woman was not his wife. Come to find out, Jackie confessed that she actually kissed Graham, however, Graham was in a compromising situation that allowed that to happen. Doc to the rescue showing Graham that the husband and wife are a team and when one falters the marriage is unstable.
A marriage without trust isn't going to work! When you loose that trust you have in relationship it's very hard to get it back! And that's what happened with these two! It takes a lot of work and some sacrifices to earn the wronged spouse's heart mind and soul because the wall that wasn't there before is what's keeping that person's heart protected from ever getting hurt or being destroyed by the one person they loved and thought they would never have to worry about breaking it. These two had a long road ahead them and thanks to Doc once again trying to help the husband accept the responsibility to fix it and make everything right again. Just gotta love Doc! Great job looking forward to the next book!
In reality this is true events!!!! I can understand both ends tired of a nagging wife a husband who alone has a female as a very good friend… us as women have low self esteem even when we can’t admit it. But for my husband to go outside my marriage and kiss his so called friend. Then pictures show up out of no where. But seems like their marriage was already in trouble. His betrayal just added to it only if it was a kiss😢😢 It woke up their marriage. I know exactly how both of them felt but I just can’t let Mr Sexy take all the blame. But in reality I can!! But the most important person was Doc the main character and I will leave it as that… author 5 stars to you
This is definitely one of the better ones in the series. I am not a fan still of this narrator. The way she says certain words is running me low. I loved how this book started. It pulled me into their story. The storyline and conflicts were interesting. Graham getting hit with a pipe caught me off guard for sure. There were several oh snap moments. Example- when Jackie showed up at the house. I cracked up when she called Greg hot to Graham. lol! I knew from the start Dena was lying. I was mad she believed her so quick but had to remember she didn’t trust him. I also love how Graham is still working to repair his marriage. He said we will see about me flying in a couple of years. #cillasbookmaniacs

Trust me: everything that I've read so far by Nia Arthurs has been most excellent and deserving of five stars! "Trust Me" is no exception! Graham loved Hazel from the moment he laid eyes on her. He made her his wife with the promise of happily ever after. But the "ever after" gradually waned, and Graham found himself drifting into a relationship with another woman. He confessed to Hazel, but someone had beat him to the punch and pictures are worth a thousand words. Hazel left him and the sun went down in his world. He did not realize he needed help until he was given a card. Doc...
“Tell me everything “… that was their things!! Where did they go wrong? they were best friends at one point? Then it took one big mistake that almost cost them everything… for Graham to reevaluate his priorities even when “it not always his fault, but it his responsibility “. With patience and determination and Doc’s guidance he will fix his marriage and win his wife back. Hazel is not any woman, even when she is hurting she is strong… she loved her husband but she refused to settle. Greg, well… hm ! Jackie and Dina … 🙄 Thank you for the bonus epilogues !!!
A little slow, I was a little bit upset with Hazel. The story begins with them living separate. It was like when her husband Graham told her he had kissed his co-worker the marriage was over. What happened to going to counseling? My husband broke my trust about 14 years ago, but with couples counseling and individual counseling we got our friendship and marriage back on track. It was like Hazel believed every thing that a stranger told her about the man she had been married to for years. Didn't understand that. Oh! well I may read the next book in the series. Not sure.
I know the most like the chase and build up to a relationship. I prefer what happens once the I do’s are long done and reAl life takes over. People put more work, thought, and time to the wedding than the actual marriage. This fixer series speaks to the park that want to root them on to the finish and the wedding is really just the beginning. Looking forward to Calvin’s story.
I was pleasantly surprised where this book went. I knew the plot but how they got their HEA was so refreshing and made me happy to finally get a story like this one. Graham knew he messed up and he did everything he could to make it up to his wife that he neglected. He took full responsibility for his actions and then some. Hazel also was a tough cookie that didn't immediately fold and made him work for it. Great read!!
Wow. I went into this book after disappointment after disappointment after disappointment from the books I came upon. I thought, just another cliché. But hey! I was surprised! This may not be the best of the best but it was decent. I was invested in the H (regardless of the half cheating incident). I also felt the h's pain so I was rooting for both of them.
