Katama Bay #3

Summertime Nights

Rate this book
The Remington Sisters and Janine and Nancy Grimson unite for a final month of Martha's Vineyard summertime splendor as they fight to heal the broken women of Katama Lodge and Wellness Spa -- and one another.

As a child, Carmella Remington was boisterous, alive -- always one to move too fast, laugh too long, feel too deeply. She was the middle child of Neal Remington, the fraught one between Elsa and Colton. Until one day, Carmella made one of the biggest mistakes of her life -- a mistake so wretched that it cost Colton’s life.

In the wake of this, Carmella's entire life changed forever. Her mother could no longer look her in the eye, resulting in even more trauma for Carmella, especially when her mother died a few years later. Carmella built up thick walls and allowed only one woman: her stepmother, Karen, to penetrate them. Soon after, Elsa and Neal seemed to conspire against Carmella, which resulted in Neal divorcing Karen.

Carmella was alone, yet again.

Since then, Carmella has worked tirelessly at the Katama Lodge and Wellness Spa. She's a fantastic acupuncturist and takes pleasure in providing healing and wellness to women from all over the world. Naturally, she's never allowed such healing for her soul. She wouldn't even begin to know how.

But this summer, everything has begun to change. Her father died six months before; Nancy, her current stepmother, along with Nancy's daughter, Janine, and even Elsa, Carmella's once-enemy, have joined together to make the Katama Lodge better than ever. And Carmella senses a shift in the love that swirls around them -- one that allows her, finally, to begin the healing process she should have been allowed thirty years previously.

Along the way, she just might find all the things her life has been missing -- love, companionship, wealth, and loyalty. It's a new dawn for Carmella Remington. The past can stay in the past. It is time to build.

Dive into book three of The Katama Bay Series -- a heartwarming journey of motherly and sisterly love, healing, and promise for better days, all on the island of Martha's Vineyard, with its gorgeous ocean views, its endless summer days, and its bubbly cast of islanders.

For fans of Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis, and Debbie Macomber.

This book in the Katama Bay series tells Carmella’s story. She carries a great deal of baggage and guilt after the accidental death of her brother Colton. A few years later their mom is killed in a car accident. The family never seems to come to terms with their grief.

Working as an acupuncturist at the Katama Bay Spa, Carmella heads to a training where she meets up with her previous stepmother Karen. More hurt feelings come to the surface as Carmella feels unworthy of love. That night she meets a handsome stranger Cal. Just when she decides to open herself up, it seems Cal is just using her to gain access to information about a wealthy Hollywood client staying at the spa. As Carmella enters therapy she begins to wonder if she will ever feel worthy of love, and will the family ever accept and forgive her? Will Carmella ever bond with her sister Elsa.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

Come along to summertime in Martha’s Vineyard.
The scenery is beautiful described making the reader
feel as if they are right there with the characters.
This is Carmella Remington’s story. Carmela is an
acupuncturist at her family’s Katama Lodge and
Wellness Spa.
Carmella is haunted by family trials both old and
new that she still has to face. At a conference
away from the Vineyard, she meets a man who
seems truly interested in her. She trusts him and
figures she will never see him again so she spills
all her woes.
But when a celebrity shows up at the Lodge so
does this man. Turns out he is a reporter and uses
Carmella story against her.
With the veil of her feelings toward her family making
front page news she is forced to face all her old
feelings and distrusts. But her story is hurting the
Lodge’s reputation and cancellations are happening
every day. Carmella has to turn the tides making
peace with her family. Will she be able to do this?
I felt this to be an emotionally riveting storyline line
that will keep the read glued to the story from the
first to the last page. Will love and forgiveness prevail?
Will Carmella save the Katama Lode and Wellness Spa?
Will her family finally accept her unconditionally?
I volunteered to read Summertime Nights. Thanks to
the author for the opportunity. My opinion is voluntary
and my own.
This is book # 3 in the Katama Bay series.

Carmella, an acupuncturist in her family's health and wellness spa on Martha's Vineyard, has had a difficult life with much pain, beginning with the death of her little brother, Colton. She seems to be on the verge of mending her relationship with her sister Elsa and the rest of her family. On a trip to an acupuncture conference in the Southwest, she unexpectedly meets up with her ex-step-mother, Karen. Things spiral downward from there. Carmella finally begins therapy to deal with her problems, and realizes how important her life-long friendship with Cody is. This was a complex story dealing with several new characters. It ended with hope for all the dominant characters in the book. I recommend this intricate story.

I really liked reading this book - I am a sucker for books set in Martha's Vineyard. This was really a great story that talked about so much of the history for Carmella. It was hard to go back and hear about what happened with their brother Colton and to see where Carmella grew her outside shell. I thought that the growing relationship between Carmella and Elsa was also really sweet - sometimes difficult to read - but I think that they were moving in the right direction at the end of the book. Carmella's lack of dating experience was also sweet and hard to read at times - and I loved seeing her move towards someone who really cares about her. Overall great book and can't wait for the next one in the series.

This is the story of Camilla, I love the depth that this story goes into with all the struggles that have made Camilla who she is or at least who she thinks she is! As we dig into her past we learn so much of what plagues the relationship of the Remington sisters.

As the story progresses Camilla starts to unfold and see where her own faults lie and that things weren’t always what she perceived. We also see healing in many of the family relationships and then hardship strikes again threatening to undo everything.

Will they make it through and come out victorious? Will Camilla realize as everyone else always has that the live she has sought has always been right in front of h

Summertime Nights is book number 3 in the Katama Bay series. This book deals with Carmella’s emotional grief nearly thirty years after the accidental death of her younger brother. Even though his death was a tragic accident she has always felt responsible and has always thought her parents and older sister blamed her. This book has her coming to terms with this and trying to reconcile with her sister. I definitely recommend this book.

Another great read by Katie Winters. It is the story of two sisters trying to find their way back together after a tragedy and years of misunderstanding. It is a story of unusual friendships and the people who come into our lives when we need them or, sadly, the people who take advantage of us for their own selfish gains. As we all need some healing in our lives at times, it is nice to loose yourself in a book that does just that with positive results.

Elsa and Carmella

Must admit it's nice to learn about the background of Elsa and Carmella. Carmella certainly had her struggles. Nancy is a sweetheart and proving she has character to Janine...speaking of Janine - hope she gets to see the destruction of ex husband with ex -best friend. Those two, ggrr...Looking forward to book 4.

A heartbreaking story of Camilla and her struggles with a tremendous about of guilt and sadness. Always leaning on Cole, her best friend but realizing that maybe she was seeing him in a new light. Wonderful characters and mending family. I received this arc for an honest review.

Kate Winters’s Katama Bay series

I just finsihed the first 3 books in this series and enjoyed them very much. The characters were easy to embrace and the stories were light enough to enjoy as a summer beach read.

Enjoy the stories but not realistic descriptions of Martha's Vineyard

I enjoy the family drama but Ms. Winters is so vague and far off on her description s of Martha's Vineyard it's as if she has never been there.
