Determined interior designer seeks hot basketball player to create perfect fake romance.
This is the month that could make or break my career. I’m desperate to enter the biggest design competition of our city and win the big contract that comes with it but lack a standout property to tip the scales in my favor.
Then, I need a date to a family wedding or be sentenced to pariah in front of my ex and his new girlfriend, who happens to be one of my biggest design competitors in the city. I think I just found the solution in gorgeous basketball superstar Rome Marius, who is in trouble with his coach and is in need of a little image rehab, just like his totally empty penthouse. I’ll be his adoring sweet girlfriend to show his coach and team he’s a grownup, and he’ll let me redecorate the monstrosity he calls home and enter it in the contest. So what if I don’t know a thing about sports? Faking it can’t be that hard, right?
I am absolutely able to ignore that he’s hot, single, and incredibly sweet…I’m a professional…?
Contemporary Romance & Chick Lit with sizzle and sass
Brynn North's goal is to write fun, witty, and relatable books that leave you with a smile and laugh. Her heroines are often finding their way in life, in and out of relationships. Her characters may not always be perfect people, but hey, neither are we, right? She hopes that you can see another perspective or even parts of yourself in her books and realize you aren't alone in figuring this whole life thing out. Her books are chick lit or closed-door romance, perfect for readers who love chemistry and sizzle but no explicit content.
She is a Minnesota native and still lives in Minneapolis with her family, loving it for approximately eight months out of the year. The other four months she dreams about moving to a warmer zip code. She is a total cat lady, with the best cats in the entire world. #sorrynotsorry
This is my first book by Ms. North. I thought I'd just try the sample, but found myself quickly sucked into the story. I liked the overall story, kept me reading and wondering how things would play out. I thought the relationship with Vienna and Rome could have been developed a tad more. They go from being roomies/friends faking a relationship to hooking up super quickly. I would have liked more flirty build-up and really feel the chemistry between them. After they hook up, it looses some steam. No pun intended, lol.
Overall, a fun and entertaining book. Look forward to trying more from Ms. North.
Content rated PG+ Romance: Clean, mild kissing. Close-door intimacy. Mild innuendo/jokes more to do with MCs mother - I could have done without that Language: Moderate (handful) Violence: None Other: Casual drinking
I didn’t feel the chemistry between Rome and Vi..there was a disconnect for me .. this book could have been shorter too some monologues were just repetitive.
Vi is a designer looking for something to jump start her career. Rome was traded to the Polars because he had gotten out of control. He needs a designer for his penthouse condo and hires Vi.
Delightful book of opposites attracting. They did love their Mexican food and a cute cat thrown in. Enjoyed the book a lot.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I may have rated this book a bit higher if there weren’t so many typos in it and if there was a tad bit more explaining or closure at the end or something. Not a bad story, though. Although I did find it difficult to believe that two people with trust issues would decide to live with a complete stranger. I also don’t know why the details of her mom’s dating life needed to be included. Maybe they were supposed to be the humor? They were not humorous though. At all. Kind of gross actually.
Vienna and Rome have a chance meeting and their chemistry was evident. A month or two later both are in sticky situations and need help. Vienna needs date to impress at an upcoming wedding as well as a show-stopping location to decorate for a contest. Rome needs a steady girlfriend to impress his coach and bosses. They agree to help each other and start to see all the positives in the situation.
Really enjoyed the characters and their personalities. You see their flaws as well as their strengths. We were introduced to some of the characters in book one of the series, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this book. The story makes you laugh and smile as you picture the conversations and connection.
Can’t wait to read about the next book in the series.
I read the first book - Love, Redefined - of this trilogy and found it enjoyable. A good story, with a heroine that, though she was frustrating at times, was also amiable and engaging.
Love, Game isn't really a continuation from that story, so not having read it won't matter. A solid romance, with some good laughs along the way, characters that are truly fun to be around . . . and a CAT! The kind of book you can fall into when you really need a break from the world!
[I was fortunate to receive a pre-publication copy of the book from the author, with no obligation to review. The opinions expressed herein are given freely and are entirely my own.]
This is my first read from this author. I loved the first person point of view of the story. This is a deal breaker for me. I really loved Vienna-Vi. She had a lot of smart things to say and she was a funny character. This was a good read and I will read more from this author in the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I initially wouldn’t have given this 5 stars but weeks after finishing I still kept going back to it…reimagining some of my fave scenes and trying to find another book like it :)
Spoiler-ish…
I actually like that they were both a little stupid, they both messed up and could’ve been better, but as much as that annoyed me, I liked that they recognized it and moved forward.
Started out ok, but way too much over thinking nonsense from the main character. I kept skipping ahead to find places that moved the story forward. After a few chapters, I just gave up.
I really enjoyed this one over the first in the series. You knew what the ending would be from early on but I enjoyed the little twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. Vienna’s character was strong and independent but also had to learn to communicate & see things for what they actually were rather than what they were perceived to be. Overall so so good!
