Benjamin Jones is not a stranger to tough times, being born & raised on the west coast of USA. His father raised him to be considerate and remain loving throughout all adversity in life. The Marine Corps did not deter those traits, but strengthened his will and gave him exemplary tactical skills.
Faithful to his religion, Beanz had remained coy to a fault until presented with the art of war which heightened his leadership tendencies and his focus. After a promotion to 1st Sergeant EOD Team Leader, The Sergeant aka Beanz witnessed all levels of chaos during the war on terror.
After 4 tours and an honorable discharge, the sarge returns home to Portland, Oregon to live life and chase his dreams with a trusted small circle, including a communications specialist he met in the Corps. But things take a turn when a violent rapist targets homeless women downtown.
With unique characters, thrilling drama, epic action scenes and page turning suspense, this Original adventure Series by Oregon's own Anthony Scott depicts into the civilian life and recreational activities of a Humble and loving killer.
Wow, what a first book! And not just in this series but this is my 1st novel I wrote in less than 2 months. I put everything I had, (in my head) in this book & I'm happy to see it spreading.
Forgive the errors. I'm finding better help for my next project...
But bare with me... I get better with each book I write & if you like this Introduction to The #ChroniclesOfAHumbleHitter, just stay tuned. You ain't seen nothing yet!
4 Star review of In The Cut by Anthony Scott Anthony Scott is a new author to me. Our hero is Ex- Military Sergeant Benjamin Beanz Jones, a man of integrity and honor, although at times some of his actions are questionable to be honest. The story certainly has a lot going on and there was plenty happening throughout. Although not a long book the author certainly packed a lot into it. Beanz does his best to look after those who are needy and less fortunate whilst also being a killer for hire. e. The writing was strong, a raw and gritty story that will challenge you on numerous levels.W There were moments that I was n the edge of my seat whilst reading. Who will win the war that Beanz is fighting, good or evil? Or will Beanz and everything he stands for be destroyed?
I enjoyed Anthony Scott's In the Cut. The story was a fast-paced introduction to the gritty underbelly of Portland, Oregon where his protagonist struggles to navigate life after a traumatizing experience in the military. I enjoyed the way Mr. Scott gave each character a moment to shine and allowed the audience to learn how all of these intersecting narratives will soon merge in his upcoming series. This was a creative introduction that I won't soon forget. If his actual series maintains the momentum established in In the Cut, Mr. Scott has paved the way for a thrilling series. I hope there is more to come from this talented author.
A nice quick read. The pace of the story fits the length of the book and does not feel rushed at all. The author was able to not only able to introduce a handful of well-developed characters but made the introductions so seamlessly that I was able to vividly paint the scenes mentally.
Considering that this is the author's first book I can tell this is the beginning of a thrilling and action-packed series. I cannot wait to see how the author and his characters grow with each book.
Book- In The Cut(Vol. 1) Author- Anthony Scott Rating- 5/5
This book is a story about an Ex- Military Sergeant Benjamin Beanz Jones and his way to form an empire in Oregaon, USA. He was greatly inspired by his father ideology and thinking to be humble and defend oneself. He is a war hero who lives by the motto "Speak Softly and Carry A big stick. You will go far." He tries out to help the homeless people in whatever way he can and feels the injustice divide between rich and poor. He does odd jobs like being a hitman(hunting down other person for money) but only for the people he knows. He has a self made rule to know the reason for someone being a target and then would decide whether to take up the job or not. The story takes a turn when he gets into conflict with one of his employer who is a powerful mob boss. Also a robber and a rapist is in town which puts danger to the people he cares the most about. Will he be able to win this cat and mouse chase game and plant seed for his new empire? What length he will go to protect his loved ones? The character of Benz is very inspiring and shows that everyone can make a difference. What I liked the about this book was that different characters of the book were quite relatable and there was a genuineness in the conversation and interaction between them like the way you would find in the real world. The book reminded me a bit of the game GTA 4.The author writing style is perfect and the character development of Benz has been one of the highlight of the book. I will highly recommend for everyone to read this book.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨ IN THE CUT By Anthony Scott ... Genre - Action/Crime Thriller Pages - 75 ... This is a brief crime thriller with a lot of action. . The author has created a fast-paced action thriller novel with only 75 pages, with Benzamin Beanz as our main protagonist. He was in the military and helped people, but he also did jobs that were not thought to be good. He was both a hero and a villain, possessing both good and negative qualities. He was focused on establishing an empire in the United States. He twisted his relationship with his boss in his job of hitman and there were also other awful occurrences and crimes happening in the city that bothered him. What will be the next step in his life? Who is the perpetrator of crimes? Was there any sort of plot? You need to grab the copy to know more! . So this was the first book in the series, and it did a fantastic job of introducing the protagonist. We learn about his beliefs, his relationship with his father, and other influences. The plot has a lot of twists and turns, and it's a lot of fun to read. It's a little confusing at first, but as the plot progresses, things start to make sense, and the suspense rises. The cover is attractive. . Overall, an action-packed thriller with sexual abuse and violence trigger warnings; if you're alright with the trigger warnings, you should give this quick book a try!
Title: In the Cut Author: Anthony Scott Publisher: A. S. Series: Chronicles Of A Humble Hitter Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "In the Cut" by Anthony Scott
My Opinion:
'In the Cut' was captivating in seeing how Benjamin [Beanz] Jones lived in a world that he seemed to enjoy living in Rose City. He seemed to be there helping those in need, whether it was helping the homeless [Safe Haven homeless shelter] or doing a job for pay [killing for hire]. This was quite something since Beanz 'was educated, military-trained [marine], and a Christian who had been born and raised in Rose City' and had this other job. Beanz was great at helping in the shelter...helping the homeless, especially Miss Sharyl giving out water. Why did Beanz give Miss Sharyl a cell phone? Will Beanz open up a new marijuana dispensary, and will he give Sharyl a chance to work for him? We find Beanz was also helped with this neighbor, Carolyn...and yes, you can only imagine how that turned out with the blunt that was offered. What will happen when he later tries to help Angel, who was from the shelter? Who was this Mariah that Beanz was becoming interested in?
Well, on Sunday, Beanz attended church...still having memories of his military time in the service. Then, leaving for California, and returning to Portland, with more exciting characters, will enter the picture...To a few, Mike-T, Gemarcus, Slue, Trevor, Samuel, Kenny, Hafiz, Gerald Tate, Jamie, Jimmy, Jessie, Tip, Giovanni, D-rod will give you the reader quite a read that will keep you turning the pages. Where and how will Beanz be involved in all of this...well, he worked for Mike-T and carrying a .9 millimeter and a Glock 4.0, a .38 revolver on his ankle for backup and switch blaze, this story gets even more exciting. Will Slue get his up and comings? Who was targeting helpless people and raping women around the homeless shelter? Be ready for some twists and turns that you will have to keep up with what all is going on.
By the end of this action-filled read, will Mike-T get what he needs from Beanz, and will he get what he wanted...as he chased his dreams? What was up with 'some Jihad was just smuggled into town?' Will this be a problem for Portland? I guess we will find out what up with that in the next series. This is where I will say you will have to pick up this good read 'In the Cut' to get how well this author brings this story all out to the reader.
This was my first read from author Anthony Scott. Thanks for reaching out and sharing your work Mr. Scott. I wasn't sure what to expect from a story about faith touting, weed smoking, kind hearted killer but Beanz turned out to be a good dude with a mission to do better but had to use some shady tactics to see that mission through. I enjoy a book that has a few different story lines playing out and they all come together in the end. There are spots in the story that could be fleshed out more and another round of editing but overall, I enjoyed In The Cut. I'll have to pick up book 2 to see the next direction of Beanzs' journey.
Anthony Scott has one with this series! The action and intrigue started with the epilogue before the story even began. The future of this series looks bright. Good read, thoroughly enjoyed.
In this book you can find a strong main character who can fix and cope with all kinds of situations in a rough and strange world. It is based in the USA and during the reading sometimes I couldn't understand all the action, but that's because I think my English skills are not enough to understand it. I highly recommend it if you like action books with characters that go between good and bad.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It was a very interesting read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
