Have you ever loved someone too much? Have you ever felt you were not loved enough?
In this collection of poems, Gabrielle G. depicts different love stories from the initial spark to the last heartbreak and writes in verses the heartache we've all been through. ♥
Divided into fourteen short chapters, each describing different journeys of love, this poetry book will make your heart smile and weep at the same time and will hopefully mend the remaining scars of any current or past heartbreak.
This was so eh to me. I felt like the author was trying too hard to be poetic and philosophical that a lot of them didn't make sense. I knew it'd be all about relationships, mostly failed ones, but it was just kind of... So blah to me.
It's been a min. since I indulged in some poetry. & this does not disappoint. Recommended by a friend <3, it was a pretty quick read since the themes were relative to romantic situations, I don't think this has to be read over a long period of time and the poems are quite short and easy to process. Secondly, I think some parts of this book could be read by all genders -not only by the person who 'loved the man too much.' I think the low level of relatability makes this a valuable read, I believe Gabrielle enters into the depths of the heart and has the ability to bring emotions into words -which is never an easy task. This book reminded me of "Il fera chaud cette nuit: Histoires de désir et d'intimité" by Yannick -which is a book I read in Feb. and some components remind me of the "Atlas of the Heart" by Brené Brown. <-- This is a good thing, IMO.
I recognize that this book is produced by a French author with some of the word-plays, I also noticed that she quotes Baudelaire, Proust & Hugo which is usually studied in France. I really loved this book mainly because of the word choice, I was very impressed by the style of this book each section was written under a theme that was obvious in each poem that corresponded to the theme.
My favourite part was how each section started with a famous quote; there were quotes from the greats; Wizard of OZ, Marcel Proust, Baudelaire, ect. Having these quotes to start off the sections really elevated the read.
My fav. poems : Silence, Chaos, Exception, Fate, Mercy, I C U, Words, Prayer, Last Chance, Mirror, and Mask
Beloved quotes : "Hearts will never be practical until they are made unbreakable" & "To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no pearl to be found in the dark folds of life."
i don't even know what to say it's forced to rhyme and a) the rhymes aren't even good b) you can tell she just put words down bc they rhymed and not bc they conveyed any kind of message also, the two word lines back-to-back made the poems read like bad spoken word someone said "by the time u realize u don't like a collection of poetry, it's like 'might as well finish it'" bc they're so short. and that person was RIGHT but this was uhhhhh not good
A wonderful collection of poems. It is an evocative and emotional-filled rollercoaster ride of feelings, and one that you won’t ever forget. Whatever type of love you have experienced in your life, you will struggle to NOT relate deeply throughout this book to the pictures the author paints with her words. Whether it be raw, moving, heartbreaking, or even lustful, I can guarantee there will be something within these pages that speaks to you. Beautiful words from a beautiful soul.
I thought the poetry in this book was beautiful. Most of the poetry made me cry tears of recognition and reliving lost love. It definitely spoke to me and to experiences that I have endured over the past year. The poetry was raw and emotional. It was a quick read, but I have many bookmarks in the book of poems that I related to the most.
I loved this collection so much! This felt like a raw collection from the poet sharing her experiences with love, heartbreaks and recovery. There were so many relatable pieces that anyone could find context in within their own lives and relationships. I'll be on the lookout for more collections by this poet.
This book of poems popped up on my Facebook feed today in one of the reading groups I’m part of so I went ahead and scooped it up on Amazon. The poems are broken up into different sections dedicated to different parts of her love life. In the words of the Tin Man, “hearts will never be made practical until they’re made unbreakable.”
This poetry collection was relatable about love for a guy who doesn't love you right or the way you should be, toxic relationships, dealing with the hurt and jealousy that can leave you feeling and coping with.
I C U, was such a clever play on words/letters and was my favourite from this collection of poetry about loving someone for everything flaws and all.
This collection was not for me. I was intrigued by the subject matter and the different sections. Unfortunately, I found the poetry to be stilted and played into expected and uninspired forms. Matters of the heart (and its break) ought not to conform to a typical rhyme scheme or meter.
not quite what i was expecting, but some of the pieces within this collection were stunningly beautiful, others felt far too philosophical for my taste. some violently heartbeaking and raw pieces throughout that have definitely sparked ideas within me
A bit overrated like mentioned before but certain chapters got to me hard. I was quite emotional at times and some of these poems truly helped me heal from all those moments where I felt crazy for loving so hard (and to men who did not deserve it).
This collection seemed very samey, 1 in 3 poems seemed to be a repetition of writing style just using different words. There were a few special poems but most you can just speed through.
My first poetry it was okay to understand but I am not expert here so it was easy to understand but some where difficult because i didn't understand the meaning of the verse
This has to be the absolute worst book of poetry that I have ever read. The rhyming was forced, and most of the poems made no sense. If I could give it no stars or even half a star, I would.
