I’ve read so many first person accounts of hiking the AT and this is one of my favorites. Why? Because it’s not just fleshing out their journal entries, there are beautiful pictures and real misgivings. But maybe what I liked best was including the the people dangers on the trail. I haven’t seen that before. I won’t give spoilers here. But my cynical mind had suspected some could exist. Their experiences included some magic that other hikers have not. I think they share a more in depth experience because they didn’t charge through, they experienced through. Well done and captivating!
Having hiked the trail in our 50's as you did,it was amazing how well you related to the trail as we did. Same Hostels and experiences! We may have passed you on the trail where you were ending it. We did it over 5 summers and were in the same area as you in 2015. We now live in FL and Va. I really appreciate and enjoyed your book. It brought many smiles and memories.
Turning 70 next year I appreciate the effort that went into the prep, trek, and book. An interesting view of the trail and its society from a slightly older perspective. Thanks, Semper Fi
