Meredith always dreamed of being whisked off her feet by a prince—she just didn’t realize he’d be a blue-scaled alien warrior.
Working a dead-end job in a chocolate shop, Meredith Sinclair has all but buried her dreams of finding happiness.
But when a bland-looking man comes into the shop and starts asking her suspicious questions, the most ridiculous thing happens—he turns into a horned, seven-foot tall alien before her very eyes.
Sent on an expedition to determine the intelligence of the human species, Lord Kyrix Yio’naeus doesn’t expect his cloaking device to break down on his first mission.
When a human sees his true form, he has no choice but to take her back to his ship. But at the touch of her soft skin, his blood ignites like it has with no other female.
When the Herkleian government orders Meredith transferred to a lab for study, Kyrix will do anything to save her. Is it possible a human could be the fated mate to an alien royal?
And even if she is, will Meredith and Kyrix be able to escape his crew for a future together?
Kyrix is a prequel to the Bride to an Alien Prince series. This standalone story has on-the-page heat, a guaranteed happily-ever-after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.
USA Today Bestselling Author Kate Stevens has been devouring romance novels and absorbing every detail since she was far too young to be reading them. With a passion for sci-fi and fantasy, she loves nothing more than a captivating villain, a touch of angst, and endless groveling. She lives in Toronto, Canada, with her cute-but-demanding pets and a hoard of books.
She's the author of Bloodborne Court, a dark fantasy romance series. Prior to that, she published sci-fi romances including Archlord of Exile and the Bride to an Alien Prince series. Her work was featured in the Claimed Among the Stars anthology, which hit #42 on the USA Today Bestseller List in 2022.
It didn’t take long for both MCs to be willing to sacrifice anything for each other. Maybe a few hours. I like the fated mates trope as much as the next girl but this love story was rushed. Both characters were well rounded enough, so that helped me get through the fastest of fast burns.
I read this genre for the humour, something which was rather sparse in this little novella. A few moments made me smile, chiefly the rescue of the heroine's cat. Although he barely makes two sentences, it felt right. You'd best believe that no amount of orgasms would make me run off to outer space without my little catstronaut.
Other than that, it was just a shit ton of instalove. Don't get me wrong - instalove is a big part of this genre and it CAN work when done right but done right usually involves personality and that's not something either protagonist has much of. If we don't know who they are - not their job or their parents or their body type but who THEY are - how are we going to root for them? If we don't connect with them, how are we supposed to believe in their connection to other people?
There were a few inconsistencies that I found troubling. Firstly, that no one has ever seen their own "mate mark" because it's on their neck. I was just going to write a comment on this superior species' inability to create a mirror, when I scanned further and saw the hero express that he wished he had a mirror to show the heroine hers. I'm sorry - what? So... they have mirrors but just never thought to use them?
Secondly, the protagonists using the same ruse for their second escape attempt. Hello. Superior species, yes? Would they really fall for the same farfetched idea twice in the same day? I don't think so. I'd strongly suggest some more brainstorming for better plot ideas.
another alien book of course. this book felt very fast paced so if you want sort of a “mindless” read this is good for that. however i did not like the epilogue. i like don’t care for humans and aliens to co-live on earth it takes me out of the fantasy :/
This would have been a perfect read, except I believe this author needs a good or (better) alpha reader to catch continuity issues. Mind you this book is not as bad on continuity issues as some of the other later books in this series. PRAX being the worst offender in this department. More on that in its review. Mind you I have already read all four books in this series with exception of RIVIX since it does not come out until august. Kyrix is a prequel to ANAX in the bride to an alien series In this book our heroine accidentally sees our hero’s true alien form and he kidnaps her to avoid exposure only to discover she is his fated mate. It is an amazing story all but one glaring detail. Which gave me high anxiety the entire book. I do not think KATE STEVENS has pets, at least I hope he/she/they does not have pets. Clearly does not understand how pets work. *warning. Pet lover trigger* See as a responsible pet mamma… we love our fur babies. And not only would we scream and yell not only for our safe return if we were “taken” but we would beg for the life of our pet! Appeal to our kidnappers love for pets hopefully they would care about wellbeing. I can’t stand authors who put a pet into a story where the animal is left to fend for itself. In this story our heroine has a cat and does not care that it has been left unattended for more than a week! So what if she, has a food timer for pet. We all know that 1. A food timer can only give fresh food without going bad, stale or running out altogether especially fat cats who have the anxiety of it owner not coming home for more than a week. 2. Even when you have a food timer a pet still needs fresh water daily. Even with a filtered water fountain. In a week the bowl still needs cleaning (they get slimy) the remaining water if it has not been completely drank up has evaporated or gone rancid yes water goes rancid after a week in a filter fountain. I know from personal experience. 3. A cat can survive maybe a week without water but a dog would be dead. There was no dog in this book but seriously.. don’t cats mater too. If you know a dog would not, survive a week why would you think a cat could.. I’m angry at you! This book caused me great anxiety for this poor cat cause #4. A cat is not as aloof or independent as you seem to think and would suffer greatly being left alone with owner not coming home for that length of time! Shame on you don’t put pets in your story unless you intend to do them justice with their owner caring about them cause our heroine does not. Oh it’s no big deal. “He has an automatic feeder and he won’t be happy about the state of his litter box but he’ll be fine.” Shame! Shame! Shame! . Either you are one of those bad fur baby owners or you don’t actually have pets at all or your one of those dog people who think cats are fine being locked in a home for a week without fresh water FRESH FOOD, and the companionship of their owners coming home and CATS DO SUFFER ANXIETY. My sweet babies are rescues and one time I got stuck overnight and a day (should have been home in 3 hours) but I was gone for 32 hours and could not get home.. my poor cats ate enough food in one day to last them an entire week. They knew something was wrong and they emotionally ate all the food in an automatic feeder for one whole week! all the water was gone too and they poo-ed on my pillow and pee-ed on my bed in anger & protest but mostly out of anxiety. Cats care if you come home! *I’m about to wax poetic and get very dark here.. so, if your sensitive about pets do not read*. Shame on you Kate please do not put another pet in your books if you heroine is not gonna care about their well-being. As a reader who loves my 2 babies this caused me great anxiety. otherwise this was a great book. I’m glad our heroin’s cat was still alive but let’s be honest. I know for a fact if I did not come home for a week both my cats would be dead. One will have killed and eaten the other and then eventually succumbed, without fresh water. I also know that if I died and was not found after a week my cats will have started to eat me after a couple days. They are after all tiny house panthers. They are predators who need to eat. And blood is a great source of “water” in fact many outdoor cats never need to drink water as. Blood is the most excellent hydration there is. What? Did you think cats eat out of garbage cans? No, that’s what dogs do. cats kill. anyhow decent read besides the anxiety you put me through. I spent far more time worrying about the heroine’s cat than she did! ANAX next book in series I have no real issues with, there were some tiny continuity issues but nothing glaring. PRAX however .. now that I got serious issues with! A lot of continuity issues and a glaring issue with tying up loose ends with a vulnerable character a female victim of sexual trafficking! Grrrrrrr ! a big no no ! Who was forgotten by PRAX’S MATE our heroine is an immigration lawyer who is on…….cont.
Kyrix comes to Earth on a mission to see if humans are ready to join the other aliens in an alliance. But while questioning Meredith his cloaking device fails and his true form is shown to her. He has no choice but to bring her back to his ship and erase her memory but the memory wiping serum doesn't work on her. When Kyrix's government hears about this, they decide that she is to be transported back to their planet and experimented on to find out why the memory wiping didn't take on her and if humans will be a problem.
But Kyrix doesn't like this at all and has formed a bond with Meredith so he's going to do what he has to in order to keep her safe.
Kyrix and Meredith fall for each other so fast and I loved that. At first she thinks she's having a break down because big, good looking alien in her shop? That can't be real. But it was and Kyrix turns out to be such a great guy. He is the illegitimate son of the King and the King has sent him away so that his other son can take the throne. Kyrix doesn't want the throne and wants to keep his mother safe.
This was a cute, quick read and now I want to go back to the first book and read that too. Bring on the aliens! I'm here for it.
Kyrix, a Herkleian, is the bastard son of the King. His father never acknowledged his parentage because his mother is only a Duchess. But some still know his true identity. Kyrix is sent to Earth to question a human to assess if they have advanced enough to be considered being admitted to the IGA . But while questioning one individual his cloaking device glitches revealing his true form. Now he has to take her back to the ship to erase her memory, which he starts to regret. He suddenly has urges to protect, comfort, nourish n seduce her as his whole body tingles from head to toe. Meredith is a clerk at Cocoa Love. She's the only one there when a stranger enters n starts asking her mundane questions. I'm the middle of one his questions, she hears a ding, n an alien with horns n blue skin stands before her n not a human. Does she freak out? Yes. Is she afraid? Not really. But an honest to God sexy, buff alien is right in front of her. He pulls something from his belt n then total darkness. She wakes up aboard a ship but the memory procedure does not work on her. What a different take on fated mate scenario.
I enjoyed this story about the exiled son of an alien king finding his mate on earth. It was just another hogue day at work for Meredith when a peculiar man came into the shop. After a few very bizarre questions his alien cloaking gizmo malfunctioned. Kyrix had no choice but to take her back to the ship. They quickly discover they are fated mates. Something rare and precious among Kyrix’s people. But that doesn’t mean their news is welcomed. I’d have liked to see Kyrix being able to go home to his planet and resolve the familial issues, but I guess this book is more just a little prologue for the rest of the series. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
"In a blink, the ordinary man in front of her turned into a purple-haired, black-horned alien."
Meredith was working another boring shift at a job she didn't love when an unremarkable man came in, and everything changed.
Kyrix is just trying to do his job. Not to say his life is going the way he'd choose... but the moment he gets to know Meredith he wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
This done in one story establishes this Universe, and Earth's place in it. A story of two people trying to figure out both what they want, and how to get it in a Universe where it feels like a lot of forces beyond their control are influencing their lives.
The beginning of this had me cackling. That interaction in the chocolate shop was tooooo much. I will say Kyrix is an interesting specimen with the manners of a regent, curiosity like a child yet insanely intelligent, titled but a bastard, scaled but a panty dropping physique. It’s a lot. Meredith to her credit has such spunk even with everything changing and revealing all these new things to her at lightning speed she takes it and says okay now what. We Stan a strong badass woman. The mating bond physically appearing was definitely a new one, I’m still not sure how I feel about that. I read this as a fun read I didn’t have to think a lot about and it did it’s job.
Alien comes to Earth disguised, meets girl. Disguise fails alien take Earth girl to his ship. So begins Kyrix and Meredith's story and kicks off the series. Despite his alien appearance, Kyrix is an honorable man who wants to protect and cherish Meredith. Despite the differences between their species, when the mate mark appears on both of them it is clear their bond is fated. Action, sexy times and intrigue are a great to launch to the series.
Lord Kyrix and Meredith Sinclair story was amazing I liked how Kyrix was on a mission to check on the intelligence of the humans on earth but on this mission his image enhancer malfunctions in front of the human and she see’s his true self and with option he kidnaps her and takes her back to his planet once there he is ordered to take Meredith to there lab to be tested on but how can Kyrix handover his mate. How does it all turn out and can Kyrix save his mate and have a HEA.
When Kyrix’s accidentally reveals himself to a human, he has no choice but to take her onboard the ship. Things don’t go according to plan.
The start of the story worked really well for me. The middle felt like it dragged on without a lot of romance or connection between the characters, then they were thrown full throttle into a romantic relationship. I wish there would have been more development relationship wise between the characters. The ending was cute and satisfying.
The Bride to an Alien Prince Omnibus Edition includes: Volume 0.5 titled KYRIX - ✅ 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Volume 1 titled ANAX - Volume 2 titled ERYX - Volume 3 titled PRAX - Volume 4 titled RIVIX - Volume 4.5 titled MARKED FOR THE ALIEN PRINCE -
I only read a short excerpt in '24 Gifts from the Galaxy' MULTI-AUTHOR ANTHOLOGY It was only one chapter from the first volume, but I liked it so much that I decided to read the entire series.
A human woman is working at a chocolate shop in a mall. There are no customers in the shop and she is getting tired of doing laps around the store. A male alien prince is on a mission to find out if Earth is ready to join an intergalactic alliance by talking to humans on Earth while disguised as a human. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to everyone. There are twists and turns in this story. Happy reading!
A short look into the world of the "Aliens" that came to earth to learn about us and made a mistake. One that Kyrix and Meredith now have to live with. The characters were okay, the plot at this stage is also okay... Has everything you would expect a novel of this nature to have, but its not enough to understand where this plot is headed?!
UPDATE: 10/14/2021, I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS BOOK MAY BE IN PRINT IN ANOTHER LANGUE. THE TRANSLATION BACK AND FORTH MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF ERRORS. EITHER WAY, I REALLY LIKE THE BOOK. Quick read. The only thing I disliked was the poorly edited copy. The proofreader and or the software used, need to be fired or updated. Nearly every page had a mistake in grammar or punctuation. I gave it FIVE stars because the characters were well developed, the story made sense and left me with enough information to imagine a very happy life for these two and their children.
Meredith was having an uneventful day at work. A good looking guy enters the store and asks rather strange questions. Kyrix is disguised as a human. His equipment goes haywire. She freaks out, he takes her to his ship to erase her memory of him. There seems to be a strange pull that they both feel. What will happen to their budding love? Good read.
This book was really perfect for what I was looking for. It was short enough to read in a few hours, had a decent plot and good character development. I would highly recommend if you need a book to just take your mind off any lingering trauma from another book. Lol. There is some decent spice in this book. Good build up!
Kyrix Is a banished Alien Prince on a routine mission to scout Earth when his technology fails and he is seen by Meredith. Protocol dictates that her memory be wiped and he rushes her back to his ship. Only she is his fated mate and the cosmos has other ideas. It was sweet, insta-lust with insta-love thrown in. I really enjoyed it and loved the ending.
Meredith is bored until a customer comes into her shop. He is very ordinary looking and speaks funny. Then he morphs into a horned her talk purple guy.
This is first book in series. I read out of order but that's ok. It's a good book that can be read on its own. The characters are realistic and so were the events. It may have been a short story but it was well written and the story had a lot packed into it.
A short but interesting story. I enjoyed the premise, but felt it could be more fleshed out. I think it could be better if more of the culture and characters were developed.
I enjoyed this story. I just love purple aliens. This was an up and down roller coaster of scary aliens and nice ones. Everyone wants a human female but very few are nice to them.
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is entertaining and filled with action and adventure. The interaction and chemistry between the characters is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book 📚, as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This novella was short but really good.. I enjoyed getting to know Kyrix and Melody..Their love story was sweet! I need to meet my mate like this lol Kate is now one of my favorite authors!
I thought this story was cute , and adorable and a quick easy read !!! I have read a few other stories from this world , not in any particular order though , and I plan to read more about these Herkleios' ( not sure i spelled that right :+))
What a cute story! A big blue hunk and an ordinary human woman, who are true mates. Gotta love it! The baby's the perfect addition to this story. Guaranteed HEA. Looking forward to starting the next book in the series.
