Lita Woods was looking forward to seeing and celebrating the end of another semester of her daughter Tameeka’s college career. It was going to be great night, and the male attention she garnered from just stepping into the door of restaurant was just a added bonus. One admirer in particular caught and held her attention to the point of if it were any other night she might have enjoyed spending some time in getting to know the handsome stranger better. But be careful what you wish for because as the night progresses Lita’s wish comes true and what happens next is not at all what she expected.
Trey Hamilton arrives early to meet his son Jamil and his girlfriend Tameeka for what he assumes will be a ordinary but nonetheless enjoyable dinner. While awaiting their arrival, something or better yet someone from across the room snags his attention and he can’t seem to look away. In that moment he realizes that he would love to meet the lovely lady who not only caught his eye but many of the other male diners in the room. Well luck sure seems to be on his side tonight because it just so happens that the object of his current desire also happens to be non other than his son’s girlfriends mother, and the surprises just keep coming until the night turns into one that will change of their lives forever in ways neither parent saw coming but surely made for a very interesting and unforgettable evening.
I was truly excited to get my hands on this book because it’s very rarely that we get a chance to read a romance story about over 40 lovers and I can truly say that I enjoyed this one. Lita and Trey don’t meet under the best of circumstances but even that doesn’t dampen the attraction that these two instantly feel for one another. Since their kids are involved they both try to do the adult thing and deny themselves of each other’s company but soon find out that once love and fate has you on their radar they will not be denied. The story is well written and gets to the point quickly so there’s no waiting for you to get to the meat of the storyline. The characters are likable and fun to get to know and of course who doesn’t love a happily ever after. The added bonus of Lita and Trey both being over over 40 just made it more relatable to more mature romance readers and also proves that there is no age limit to. Thank you Reese Ryan for thinking of us and writing one for those of us over 40 and looking for a little love too ❤️😅.

I discovered this book by accident. I was looking for another title, stumbled across this one and was intrigued by the premise. And, for the most part, I was not disappointed.
It was interesting seeing this trope from the perspective of the parents who fell in love rather than the blindsided kids. It was great, the way Lita and Trey got along and supported both one another and their children even as they felt their kids weren’t quite ready to be parents. I just wish it was longer, that I could see the romance fleshed out a bit more. Because of the length, it also felt out of place when the author reminded us of side characters. It wasn’t long enough for me to forget names. Or, I understood it for Lita’s friends since they only appeared once. But not a reminder of Trey’s son being the father of Meeka’s baby. They were nearly as central as the main couple.

Sassy Lita Woods and debonair Trey Hampton lock eyes across a bar and the level of interest only increases from there. Even though, unbeknownst to them, they are meeting to discover that their youngest offsprings are engaged and expecting a baby.

While they are both blindsided by this news, Lita is more shocked since her daughter, Meeka has never mentioned Jamil or dating anyone seriously; whereas, Trey has spent significant time with Meeka.

While the grown-ass kids (as they like to remind their respective parents) have a struggle to get Trey and Lita on board with their future plans, the chemistry and spark keeps growing between Lita and Trey.

I loved, loved, loved this story of a mature couple (over 40) dealing with real world problems and accepting the decisions of their children, while offering and providing all the support the kids will allow. I say kids, but Meeka and Jamil are both over 20.

There’s a little bit of humor, a lot of sass, tons of chemistry, and each couple gets their happy ending and a beautiful baby girl, Malia, bonds the two families forever.

I really enjoyed...

I really enjoyed Trey and Lita’s journey to love. I especially loved the way they met and came together. It was definitely unconventional, but heartfelt. I loved that they both were loving supportive parents as well.

I’m so glad that someone did a mature romance. I was happy to see characters over 40 fall in love. There’s still plenty of romance, steamy scenes, sass and witty banter, plus a HEA and an epilogue!!!

Lita goes to meet her daughter, Meeka, for dinner after another successful semester at college. She was not expecting to be approached by a stunning man, Trey, while waiting. As they go to part ways they are approached by Lita’s daughter and Trey’s son, Jamil.

Here comes the surprise!!! Jamil and Meeka drop some heavy news on Lita and Trey. Despite Lita being livid, she decides to stay and enjoy a meal with Trey. In the aftermath of emotions, Trey offers to let Lita come and stay with him and the kids at his house. What follows is a story of support, friendship, passion and love.

I loved this novella, about two grown, divorced folks finding love again. Reese always gives such depth to her characters. I loved the honest portrayal of Lita, even when it didn’t show her at her best. And with Trey, you had me the minute there was grey in his goatee. Plus he cooks. Commence swooning now.
This is Reese's first book with the newly formed Rose Gold Press. I sincerely hope we get more in this series!!

Love Second Time Around

h

Trey and Lita are given a second chance at love. They are brought together by his son Jamil and her daughter Meeka getting pregnant. They have decided to get married while still in college.
Trey and Lita are navigating their relationship through an obstacle course of deju vu because that was what happened to them and their marriage ended. Their reliving feelings of hurt and second guessing going one step forward possible two steps backwards

They decide to take a chance on love and happy every after triumph

A very enjoyable "seasoned" romance.

I love Reese Ryan and this one is no exception. She never pulls any punches with her characters and they always come out stronger on the other side. The things they go through may be hard, but they are realistic and relatable.

Wow, great mature love story

Trey and Lita, parents first, lovers second. Love these two working together to support their kids, who unfortunately is now also on the verge of being young parents. These two all around were just special. Lita didn't have to worry whether Trey was the right "man", because when you get your "girlfriends" thumbs up, that's always a good sign. I loved when Trey mentioned the "grown-ass kids comments and the grown-ass kids being able to handle this", then kisses Lita with his all. Wow!! A beautiful couple, a beautiful love story.

Grown and Sexy

Bravo!!! I fell in love with Lita and Trey in the first chapter. It is an outstanding story of mature folk, doing grown folk ,and living life with all it's ups and downs. Grown children are living just as complex lives their parents. Beautiful story that's definitely five star for me.

First off, kudos to the author for featuring a romance with the main characters over 40. We need more of these, especially ones featuring black characters. I loved the chemistry, and it was also an emotional read with several real life issues. There were no games played by either person, and it was so great to visit pleasure clove again. I cant wait for the next book from this author

There’s something wonderfully relaxing reading about mature adults. It’s not that they don’t have problems, but the problems are different than that of new adults and they tend to have more experience of how to handle them. The characters are each secure in who they are and what they want in life – at least until they meet. This novella is an amazing example of all of that!

Lita’s looking forward to seeing her daughter Meeka, who’s just finishing up the spring semester at college. So even if a particularly hot man is flirting with her, she’s eager to talk to her. Until she finds out Meeka has a boyfriend – the hot man’s son – she’s never told her about. And they’re engaged. And she’s pregnant. Understandably, Lita doesn’t handle that information well, and before long, Meeka’s stormed off with her boyfriend and Lita’s left with the man she’s soon to share a grandchild with. Trey’s sympathetic, as while he knew about the relationship, he’s just as surprised – and devastated – by the rest. As Jamil and Meeka are already planning on spending the summer at his beach house, Trey invites Lita along as well in hopes of helping the two women reconcile. But spending the summer with Trey is its own type of temptation…

“Trey Hampton really was a very sweet guy. A week ago, the last thing in the world she wanted to be was a grandmother. But if she was going to be one, she was glad her grandchild would have a grandfather as kind and generous as he was.”

Trey’s been raising two sons by himself for the past twenty years. They’d originally moved to Pleasure Cove, a sleepy beach town in North Carolina, to try to make his wife happier, but that didn’t work and she left. He’s no stranger to hard work or dealing with tough conversations, but this situation is more than he bargained for. Since Trey at least knew about Jamil and Meeka’s relationship, he handles it a lot better than Lita. They’re both disappointed that they’re following in their parents’ footsteps – getting pregnant and marrying young – and Lita’s especially upset that Meeka plans on putting college on hold while the baby’s young. They’ve both worked so hard to provide a good life for their kids, and seeing them make what seems like the same mistakes is devastating.

I loved both Lita’s and Trey’s relationships with their children. Though they may make different parenting choices, they’re both loving parents and they both eventually understand that their kids are, as they remind them, grown-ass adults. So while they’re always there to love and support them, it’s ultimately up to their kids to live their own lives. While my kids are much younger, I could definitely empathize with how much they both worried about their kids and how they wanted the best for them.

“Because no matter how attracted he was to this woman—and he was insanely attracted to her—she was the mother of his future daughter-in-law. And Lita was right; the two of them hooking up would only make the situation messier. Relationships were complicated enough on their own.”

On top of all of this, Lita and Trey are dealing with an overwhelming mutual attraction to each other. Their first meeting at the bar showed exactly how much chemistry they have between them, but both Lita and Trey have been burned before and understand exactly how badly things could go. Like it or not, they’re going to be bound together forever by their kids, so adding in another relationship to an already messy situation is the opposite of of a good idea. Luckily, sharing the beach house gives them time to get to know each other and see how they interact with the ones they love most.

I mention this in all my reviews of this author’s books, but I love the authenticity of the relationships, from the romantic ones between Lita and Trey (and Meeka and Jamil), the parent/child relationships, and the friendship Lita has with a group of other “living your best life” women. I’m definitely hoping we’ll see those women again! My only con? It’s a novella. While the story works well as it is, I wanted so much more of Lita and Trey getting to know each other, more of Lita supporting Meeka, and more of Meeka and Jamil being so adorably sweet with each other.

Overall, this is a delightfully sweet and relaxing read. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a romance with mature characters navigating parenting and love!

Something About You is more than a grown and sexy romance. Not only did the author craft a second chance love with a mature couple, but we also get some insight into a new in love younger couple.

Trey Hampton and Lita Woods are parents of adult children and navigating living their best life. When dinner plans with their college-bound children throw them into each other paths. The chemistry is undeniable, but will the news they receive alter their course to true love and happiness? The announcement of a pregnancy and a marriage proposal was not the menu special they were expecting.

Like any parent, you want what's best for your children, and certainly a pregnancy and getting married before finishing school will prove challenging, a journey Trey and Lita know all too well. Well, it becomes a battle of wills when the parents try to guide them to their way of thinking, while Meeka and Jamal have plans of their own laid out.

What I like most about this read is it offered insight from both perspectives, and while both sides offer compelling points, in the end, they agreed it was better to combine forces. I will say I was curious how that family dynamic would be if the couples followed their hearts, but this one didn't take us that far in the journey. Hopefully, a sneak peek from another story in is the future.

Overall, Something About You was well-written with great characters making it the perfect addition to the Rose Gold umbrella.

It is so nice to read about romance in the air for 40 and older people. Reese you did an awesome job and I hope that there are many more to come not only from you but from other authors as well. This is such a great genre to capture the romance for the old generation.

Lita is feisty, vivacious, lively, bubbly 41 y/o mother of two, web graphic designer and she is at a restaurant/bar waiting for her college daughter Meeka. Lita and her divorced friends have forge a club “Living My Best Life Club”; they meet often for dinner, drinks and trips. While Lita is waiting a much younger guy tries to talk to her and she is being very polite and saying she’s not interested. Trey is suave, charming, well-groomed with just the right amount grey in his beard and he’s into real estate and is sitting at the bar and is also waiting for his college son and has been making some serious eye contact with Lita and decides to come over and intervene with the guy talking to Lita.

Meeka arrives to meet her mom with a young man and gives her mom some very shocking news that she is engaged, pregnant and that she and Jamil who is Trey’s son are very much in love. Trey knows that Lita is his son’s girlfriend but does not know about the pregnancy or marriage.

Lita, Trey, Meeka and Jamil all come together and deal with the issues that they are facing and support each other. Trey and Lita have some awesome chemistry, mature over 40 couple, funny situations and family bonding all make for a great romance HEA.

It was nice to catch with my guy Liam from Pleasure Cove.

I received an ARC via Rose Gold Press and I’m voluntarily leaving my review.

Starting with that cover that shows grown folks in love, I knew that this would be a romance that I'd enjoy. Lita is 45, & Trey is 50, and find out that they will soon be grandparents. What they had feared has come to pass.

I enjoyed the romance that blossomed between the parents; however, I would have liked this to have been a bit more focused on the parents and a bit less on their young adult kids at this length. This is a compliment to the author because I was enamored with Lita and Trey.

I really appreciated how the parents originally tried to handle it and then after taking time to listen to their adult children, they decided to make a positive change.

This had a realistic storyline included in the romance. I enjoyed the banter and dialogue. It was well-written. I just wanted more with the parents because I enjoyed the parts that were just about them most of all.

I hope this author writes more romances like this one with mature couples dealing with life situations while falling in love with more pages. I liked the cover so much that I bought the paperback too.

When it comes to reviewing Reese Ryan’s Something About You, the blurb pretty much says it all.

Forty-five-year-old Lita Woods and fifty-year-old Trey Hamilton are living their best lives, now that their youngest kids are in college. Each became parents in their late teens and know all about sacrifices due to their very adult decisions. Both have preached to their kids about education and their own poor life choices and thought their kids learned from watching them. So imagine Lita and Trey’s surprise upon learning they are going to be grandparents, and that their kids plan on getting married. The only thing they can do is squash the sizzling attraction they have for each other and work together to make sure their kids don’t make the same bad decisions they did.

Reese is one of my favorite authors because she brings this good-natured southern vibe to her books. Lita and Trey are real in their actions and emotions. They aren’t down for playing games. They embrace and love themselves for who they are. While part of me wished there was more of their kids and their situation in the story, I really liked that we are able to see Lita and Trey’s relationship grow and evolve. Something About You was a wonderful well-rounded story.

Reese has even added a little connection to her Pleasure Cove series. I’m hoping Something About You is the start of a new series for Reese. I would really love to read books on Lita’s best friends.

~ FAVORITE QUOTES ~

“Life is too short to eat bad food or to spend it in bad company.”

“We get to choose who we love and who deserves our love.”

I Absolutely Love Seasoned and Second Chance Romance!! 🔥

Wow! What a story! Even though the story centered around Meeka and Jamil doing “grown-a@@“ things resulting in “grown-a@@“ consequences, it brought together and highlighted real, seasoned and definitely “grown-a@@“ love between Lita and Trey!

Reading this was like experiencing it because some of us have “been there, wrote the book!” It was good to see them all come together and work together to make everything work out! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!! Kudos, Reese! 💜

Grown folks🔥 heads yaasssss!

This is an awesome and entertaining story, I want more. I am also thankful to Rose Gold Press, we mature people like love and romance too. The stories of young love is great however, who likes musing about the past not me. Trey and Lita's love story tells me that I'm on the right lane of the road. The intensity that the author conveyed was absolutely remarkable.

The parents of two young adult children find out that they will soon be grandparents despite their every warning. Lita and Trey in their 40s-50s dealing with the unexpected while falling in love. I liked the playful, romantic cover. This was almost evenly split between them falling in love and dealing with their children. Enjoyable read
