Pranayama: The Yoga Breath: How to Transform Your Life by Improving Your Breathing Technique

Rate this book
I share with you the foundation of all yoga poses, i.e., the yoga breath.

Yoga breath, technically called Pranayama is a deep breathing technique that helps calm your nerves. Along with stress relief, it provides many additional benefits that you will learn about.

The phenomenal effects of this breathing technique make it the need of the hour today. With such chaotic lifestyles, we all need a magical solution for our mental and physical health issues. In addition to providing that, yoga breath also helps you connect with nature more profoundly.

Sundari Gibran leads you from breathing techniques for beginners to advanced forms of Pranayama and lays the foundation for all the benefits you will experience. The techniques will have positive effects on your mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional health.

The Yoga Breath takes you to a serene, tranquil environment mentally. The feeling is extremely refreshing, as opposed to being trapped in a concrete jungle all the time. You may physically be in the middle of a chaotic workplace and yet mentally feel like you’re visiting somewhere pleasant.

This is a smaller book, solely because the author chose to focus on one essential piece of Yoga, the breath. Amazing as it sounds, even though who have no desire to exercise using the Yoga techniques can still receive benefits by learning and practicing how to properly breath.

I have revisited Yoga at different times during my adult life and have incorporated it into my life for the last ten years, exercising 5-7 times a week. I have no doubt as to the high level of benefits I have received, such as greater flexibility, balance, and in other physical areas such as keeping my blood pressure and heartbeat down (regularly around 110/70, with a heartbeat around 65). Although I work to regulate my breathing during my Yoga exercising, I have not worked specifically on the recommended breathing techniques. It was this reason that attracted me toward author Sundari Gibran’s book.

The first half of the book is aimed at beginners, introducing them to reasons why they should make the time to understand and incorporate proper breathing into their lives. Ms. Gibran cites the many health benefits, as well as outlining the consequences of neglecting this important part of our anatomies. Once the foundation was laid, she introduces some of the basic breathing exercises that almost anyone can practice.

The author offers a few books and websites for those who wish to pursue the study of Pranayama and Yoga. While all three are seeking people to join their paid courses, I found a lot of free info on yogapoint.com and doyou.com. I recommend this book to anyone who is seeking better health or to maintain and safeguard their current level of good health. Five stars.
