Tracie Tanner has followed her father into the deep covert operation that is the CIA. She has continued the work her father started and taught her. And she has done it very well but not so much so that she could prevent her summary dismissal from The Company. Now she works entirely off-books for them doing the things she does well. In this case, to steal back a piece of stolen property from a secret project for the Navy. But there's a hangup, she has a jagged scar on the side of her head that got there just weeks before after an op in Russia, the very same country to which she's heading next. And the scar is VERY noticeable, as you can well imagine. Oh, yeah, there's also that KGB killer thief she's also got to deal with. But no worry, Tracie has a plan - sort of. 😁
Another winner for Allan Leverone's Tracie Tanner series! I LOVE these novels and the character. I enjoy the subject of Cold War espionage and Tracie Tanner makes it even more fascinating and suspenseful. Book 9 was a very close call for Tracie, and I was on the edge of my literal seat! I hope Leverone has plans to keep writing about TT and her adventures for a very long time. There is not another series that I love more than this one. Excited for book 10!!!
The author has this wonderful knack of ramping up the tension the more you get into the novel. And he has done so again here with Tracie having two missions combined. Recover a stolen piece of equipment from a secure Russian submarine base and terminate a KGB assassin. Both of these push her to the limit. Faultless story that I fully enjoyed and look forward to the next instalment.
Really good series. Liked the time it was set in. Made it more interesting. The only downside was the speed in which Tracie recovers from near death situations and is back in the field. Pretty unrealistic. Aside from that enjoyed reading all of the books so far.
Injured. Tired. Hungry. Thirsty. Working alone, again. Yet our girl, Tracie, gets in and out of the USSR with a recently stolen submarine communications device with barely a scratch. Always enjoyable reading these books. Can't wait for the next one.
