Sweetheart: A Jen Sweet novel by Alison L Robson involves a kidnapping and road trip adventure travelling from Melbourne to the Gold Coast and is the first book in the Sweet Series.

❤️‍🔥Jen Sweet is having a disastrous morning, she’s slept in, is having a bad hair day and has snapped the heel on her favourite Jimmy Choo pumps!

❤️‍🔥After work Jen’s organised to meet her girlfriends for a drink or four but they stand her up. A scruffy loser guy then tries to pick her up at the bar with some bad pick up lines. Can it get worse, yes it certainly can! Poor Jen is held at gunpoint and both her and the loser guy at the bar are kidnapped.

❤️‍🔥I really enjoyed this crazy ride! The writing style is very dialogue driven and the story involves both interesting and likeable characters, especially the sexy Hitch with his smouldering interactions and flirtatious banter with Jen. It was easy to love Jen’s feisty character with her enormous appetite, her smart mouth and her drooling over Hitch, her kidnapper.

❤️‍🔥A great read, very entertaining and a little flirty! I’m team Hitch by the way!

Jen Sweet is having a BAD day. You know those days where all the inconveniences add up until you get kidnapped? No? Well that's what happened to poor, innocent Jen Sweet. An annoying day turned into being held at gunpoint after a misunderstanding and being involved in some pretty heavy stuff. A few escape attempts on the trip from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, a few laughs and some smouldering looks between Jen and her kidnapper and you've got an interesting trip.

Once they get to the Gold Coast, things really heat up. Crime, rich handsome men, debts, designer clothes and a ball. How could they possibly get into more trouble?!

This was such a lovely little read. Perfect for coming into summer and reading on holiday, by the pool with a cocktail.

Book two is out this week and I can't WAIT to see where this goes.

They say if a series of mishaps are triggered in the morning your day will go from bad to worst.
The negative energy seems to attract more doom and gloom.
Over sleeping started a nightmare day for Jen with it concluding in gun threatened abduction.
Jen Sweet is a happy go lucky girl who says it how it is, has a healthy appetite and has a philosophical outlook on life with a bubbly demeanour.
Sweet by name and nature.
After being stood up by her friends at the bar she is the target of a flirtatious encounter.
One that she felt a bit crept out by and would ultimately place her in precarious situation.
Guilty by association she is forced into a car with the loser who tried picking her up.
An abduction that takes her on a road trip from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.
The attraction Jen had to her abductor was immediate and this eroded the initial fear and she slowly started to win him over with her flirtatious behaviour and off the cuff comments.
Hitch is hot and his job is Retriever.
He hauls people back to face the consequences of their actions.
Extracting Joey from the bar was hopefully his last job in the field.
The girl with Joey was taken as collateral insurance and little did he know what he was in for with Jen.
What a fun, flirty and entertaining romantic comedy with a slight criminal suspense thread.
Jen was a fabulous character and I was immediately drawn to her.
The abduction and its aftermath had me guessing the outcome.
The cast and the scenarios kept me engaged and entertained while the well written pages bound them all together.
I really enjoyed this and devoured it quickly.

✍️ This is the first book in the Sweet Series and follows Jen Sweet who up until recently has been in a rut with her life, her job and absent love life until she meets Joey Granger at a bar and whilst trying to escape him finds out there are lots of people after him for money such as Hitch who is a retriever. Next thing you know she's being kidnapped into a car and driven from Melbourne to the Gold Coast where she's faced with jeopardy, adventure, ardor and some hilarity along the way.

As soon as I commenced reading this I knew immediately that I was going to love it to the end and I assuredly did. I didn't want it to finish. I revelled in the fact that the writing style was extremely conversational, engaging and delightful.
I liked the different angles that the story encompassed including romance, peril, suspense, dalliance as well as a modern storyline which was very relatable. I adored all the characters notably Hitch and Louis and the coquettish interactions they had with Jen. I was kept captivated till the end. It was a smooth, polished and fast paced read.

Sweetheart is a fun and fast-paced thrill-ride of a book. Throw in some local crime lords, bad debts, gun play and a sexy kidnapper and you’ve got the recipe for an action-packed romance. I honestly would get Stockholm Syndrome too if a guy like Hitch snatched me…
I enjoyed this book, it was a light and easy read. Joey and Rita were fun side characters, I really liked the road-trip part of the story the most. Jen is funny and real without being annoying. And I think all readers will like Hitch, he’s devastatingly perfect.

Thankyou Alison for sending me a copy to read and review. This is a super fun, sexy read. It is the perfect holiday read - easy to read, sexy, funny with a bit of action thrown in too! I think fans of Janet Evanovich would enjoy this book. I loved Jen and her sassy attitude. I enjoyed Hitch and Jen's banter. We didn't see Louis nearly enough. I am team Louis and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book

This was a super fun light read. Poor Jen goes on such a roller coaster! She went from having a dull life to having more action in a few weeks then some do in a lifetime! Hitch was just perfection, would have loved some more spicy scenes with him! Overall if you want a fun and light read this book is perfect

I thoroughly enjoyed the hijinks, humour and romance of Sweetheart. Set between Melbourne and the Gold Coast, and following Jen's adventures after being stood up by friends one night in a Melbourne bar, the story weaves in romance, action and comedy in a way that reminds me of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. Fun and flirty banter, some shady underworld drama, designer glamour and a couple of hot guys (#teamhitch, by the way) make for an entertaining, fresh and feisty read.
