When a retired rodeo cowboy inherits a guest ranch, will he find more than just some place to call home?

Gabriel Carmichael knows what hard work is. But he also knows that he needs to bring in the professionals when he and his brother inherit an unfinished guest ranch from their grandfather. What he doesn’t expect is Kingston Blake. While the man ticks all of his boxes, Kingston is off-limits because he’s the man in charge of the construction and renovations on his ranch. And mixing business with pleasure is never a good idea.

Kingston Blake finds himself drawn to not only the Broken Arrow Ranch that Gabe owns with his brother, but also the man himself. But Kingston discovers that Gabe is new at relationships and Kingston has been burned by love before. Is he willing to chance his heart again? He thought he knew what love was, but what he feels for Gabriel is so much more.

When Gabe and Kingston can no longer deny their attraction and take a chance, will their chemistry ignite them or will they both be left burned and wanting. Will Kingston be patient enough for Gabe to figure out what being in a relationship means or will he lose his heart in the process?

Gabriel is the first book in the Broken Arrow Ranch series. It is a HFN sweet-with-heat story of two men navigating life and what a relationship is.

Fabulous gay romance, near Steamboat Springs, CO.
A 150 acre ranch was left to Gabriel and Gideon, twins,

by their grandfather, whom they'd never met. The letter leads to more questions. We see Gabriel

and Gideon talk, decide and go visit the ranch,
where, some questions are answered, and a surprise is found.
The twins, Gabriel and Gideon, are 34, muscled and strong from Rodeo work, plus they are blonde, blue-eyed, solid men, and make plans and begin to put them into motion, and pick a name. They have eager buddies ready to give up Rodeo work, like they are, and come to work for them.

When the construction guy, Kingston, 36, tall,

bearded, dark haired, brown eyed wonderful man, shows up late, it's okay, he cares about his momma, besides, he's a big, hot, muscled hunk.

Kingston/King and Gabriel/Gabe are getting pings of desire, or something in those first weeks.
A lot is happening, construction, guys gathering, setting up the business, ordering supplies, picking up their horses, plus the twins and workers will be taking business classes to help them run the ranch, vacation spot.

Kingston's Yorkie dog is terrific.

Awesome characters, a sexy, hot romance, that begins with a dinner date. I liked King so much, such a goof hearted, strong guy, and his Dad is great. Gabriel is really fun, but has never had a relationship, only rodeo hook-ups, so they talk it out and his acceptance of King's dedication, TLC, attention and wooing is wonderful.

I'm hooked on Taylor Ryan's books, and there is a book #2.
We have an HFN, with more to come, but no cliffhanger.
ENJOY !

I've been hesitant to pick this book up. My first encounter with this author didn't end that well (for me) but that was their first book so I figured they might have been getting better. And I did like this. It did remind me of that other book I read though. The plot is pretty similar. In this book Gabe and his twin brother Gideon inherits a ranch. They hire a construction team to renovate the ranch. Enter Kingston. In that other book the guy is a rancher and he hires a construction team to renovate their ranch. Enter the main characters love interest.

What I did like though was the characters. Both Gabe and Kingston were great guys and I loved seeing them fall in love. The author lost me a little towards the end though. It felt very quick and the relationship between Gabe and Kingston didn't really get to grow.

I do not like this book.

I was originally going to call it a "bad book" and be done with it, but taste is subjective or whatever. This book is poorly written (insane amounts of detail about utterly inane things), incredibly poorly edited ("incidences" is not the same as "incidents"; the eponymous character's age is stated as 34, changes ten pages later to 36, and goes back to 34 after that; etc); and the narrative voice is so freaking BORING. The plot showed some promise but failed to live up to the expectations it set: twins inherit a ranch which possesses secrets that are never actually explained. They decide to make a guest ranch, invite people they know to work there, remodel it... and the main couple couples. That's it.

Also, something that annoys me: Gabriel inexplicably trips over his feet whenever he sees the love interest, which is a descriptive tactic that can be used once, max, before getting stale. Who actually does that? Like, think about it - what 30-something repeatedly and physically trips over themselves because of someone attractive?

I don't recommend this book. That being said, I am thinking about reading the next in the series because Kitt seems like a more interesting character than Gabe, but I'm not expecting much tbh.

This book had no oomph. I realized that pretty quickly and was hoping to settle into a serviceable read but the further I got the worse it became. The whole "I literally stumble every time he smiles at me" reads as juvenile, I think most of the focus of the book is actually on the purse-dog, Gizmo, and finally, the dialogue kinda sucks. That's what always gets me in the end. Uninspired, cringey dialogue that makes grown men sound like teenagers kills the vibe so fast. The scenes were slapped together and nothing felt thoughtfully considered. Disappointing effort.

Such sweet tale

I really enjoyed Gabe and Kingston. Will their interaction with Lawton be in Kitts book? I’m interested to see how that plays out.

Gabriel: Broke Arrow Ranch Book One is the firsts book in a new series by Taylor Rylan. It takes place outside of Steamboat Springs when Gabriel and Gideon Carmichael, identical twins, inherit a half-finished dude ranch from their grandfather, who they didn’t know. They are champions in calf roping on the rodeo circuit but have decided they have had enough of the traveling, lonely nights, and injuries and have decided to try to make it into an LGTB friendly ranch. They have to make a plan to hire other men to help with the ranch, a cook, and a construction company to finish the cabins and redo the main house. They also start taking college courses in business and hospitality management so they will know how to run the Broken Arrow Ranch when it opens and to make a success of it. The men they find from friends in the rodeo who are looking to retire and the cook they find in town. Then enters Kingston, who runs the construction company they hire, and his cute yorkie Gizmo. King and Gabe have an instant attraction but neither wants to act on it in case it jeopardizes their working relationship. However, the more they see each other the more they want to explore what it could be like to be together. There are some problems in the way such as busy schedules, King’s prior relationship that didn’t work out, and the fact that Gabe has never had a serious relationship and doesn’t really know how they are supposed to work. The rest of the book tells the story of how they build their relationship, even with these obstacles. From what I can tell from the ending, they will appear in the next book and we will learn more about them, even though the main characters will change. I started reading Ms. Rylan’s books several years ago and have enjoyed all of them. I find her characters and the situations they find themselves in to be very realistic. There is some humor that had me laughing out loud as well as some hot loving times as the characters get to know each other. I also learned a lot about building a dude ranch and some about the rodeo circuit. I highly recommend this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

I have been looking forward to the release of this new series, ever since I read the prequel in 2020. Two ex rodeo men, twins Gabriel and Gideon, inherit a ranch from their grandfather. They never met the man as their mother never let them. They don't know exactly what happened and don't really care. They are both tired of working in the rodeo circuit and live out of their suitcases and decide to put their roots down on the ranch. They figure out what they want to do with it and ask their closest friends to come and help. What Gabriel hadn't counted on was the boss of the building crew, Kingston, being exactly his type. Every time he smiles at him he looses his footings. Kingston had a break up three years ago and his hesitant at first. He doesn't want to screw up his business. Gabriel has never dated in his life and only had a friend with benefits, so he doesn't know exactly how things works. Gabriel and Gideon have named the ranch Broken Arrow, and see it as a new beginning. Will that include love and finding their soulmates as well? If you look for a sweet, uncomplicated love story, you definitely should pick this up. I can't wait for the next release in this series.

A very pleasing start to a new cowboy universe...
Taylor Rylan has a way with cowboys - from the Men of Crooked Bend to our friends in Sulpher Springs, she's always done a great job of making her cowboys lovable and real. Welcome to Broken Arrow Ranch, where twins Gabe and Gideon are starting a new thing - a vacation spot for LTGBQ couples and families to experience the great outdoors and be safe and comfortable in their own skin. Gabe's story sets just the right tone, and we get to see, from the very beginning, how a group of rodeo friends goes from riding the circuit to building a new community. Builder Kingston Blake is an unexpected temptation, and lucky for both of them, they are willing to figure out how to make THEM work out. I loved this introductory novel into the Broken Arrow Ranch community and can't wait to see what other characters will bring to the series. Well done, Taylor - I'm already hooked.

This isn t a bad book but I got to the end and realized nothing happened. The MC got together pretty late in the book and before that there was a lot of repetitiveness, like they would talk ab their insecurities hash them out and 2 chapters later same topic, same problems, same answers. I also felt many times some of the dialogs were too long, I just lost interest in what they were talking about. When they re finally couple and it seemed some trouble would come their way in the form of an ex the book ends and the next one is ab a different couple🤷🏻‍♀️..the least interesting for me. I would have preferred Gideon the fun twin but it s Kitt who I couldn t care less ab. So, my feelings are mixed..the set up, the twins with their rodeo friends and King (what an awesome name Kingstone Blake) with his work crew are a great group of characters but in this book there was no plot or much romance.

I understand if people loved this book, it just wasn’t for me.

There was no chemistry, no build up, no angst (which some people may like, I’m one of those but I feel this book needed a push). Everything is so cookie cut, like the money from their grandpa, going back to school (it seems everyone is taking classes), the dogs, the whole cowboy but nothing came from that, the romance felt very plain. It was like a very plain vanilla cake without flavor (and this comes from someone who loves everything vanilla).

I don’t even know what the plot was, I think by the end I was skimming. I didn’t even realized the book was over.

Best thing in this story: Kitt.

What a great start to a new series.
In book one we get Garbriel and Kingston's story. Which was a super sweet wonderful story. It made my heart melt.
So Gabriel and his brother Gideon are trying to figure out how to turn the ranch that they inherited from their grandfather.
They decide to make it a guest ranch, unfortunately, neither one of them knows how to do that so they look for help.
In comes Kingston.
With all the patience in the world, which is good because he will need it with Gabriel.
I really enjoyed these two charters in this story. I can't wait to see what's coming next.

Gabriel and Kingston’s story is fun and has the feels one has come to expect from Taylor Rylan. This first book in the new Broken Arrow Ranch series does a great job establishing the world in which this new series is set. I enjoyed Gabe and Kings story, and look forward to watching their relationship grow in the coming books. If you love cowboys this story is for you. I can’t wait for the next book. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.

Gabriel and his twin brother inherited a dude ranch. It’s needs work so they bring in Kingston who clicks with Gabriel. The story develops showing how the brothers who are not ranchers prepare themselves. Gabriel and King have a slow burning romance. King was hurt before so he’s cautious. And Gabriel wants to keep things professional but chemistry wins. And love blooms. It is a HFN so I plan to keep on reading the next book! Great writing!

This was a fun read!

I can already tell this is going to be a fun series. I love that Kingston has an Itty bitty dog that is the mascot for his company and how Gabriel and his brother brought in others who were done with the rodeo life to help make the ranch a success. Can't wait to read Kitt's book.

The whole first chapter was already so awkwardly written and set up that I didn't want to continue. As an editor I would have told the author to scrap it and start in medias res with the MCs already having met. I didn't need all that backstory and it was a clear sign of overwriting to come

Good story and good concept for a series - read on KU

The concept of the twins inheriting a ranch from their grandfather isn't exactly unique. In fact, I've probably read 5 different books with that general premise. However, the circumstances are a bit different and that's what I like. In the first chapter, the letter they received from the attorney from their grandfather about him giving them the ranch states they will find some surprises he has left for them if they choose to keep the ranch. I have a spoiler portion of my review clearly marked below with a small spoiler about that.

I originally was going to give this 4 🌟 but the more I think about it, it really is pretty average romance for a MM or MF book. I couldn't feel any great heat in the chemistry between the MCs. The attraction was definitely there but the urgency wasn't. The sex scenes are a bit descriptive but not overly so. They're also very vanilla.

The book is interesting and the pages fly by until the couple gets together. In the beginning, it's mostly about making plans for the work that has to be done to the ranch before they can open. There's a lot of dialogue about the construction, who needs to hired, what they will offer, if they will be a LGBTQ only ranch, etc. However, once the couple gets together, it's all about going on a date, one or the other MC talking to a friend or family about their relationship, maybe a couple of pages about something else and repeat. It got a bit boring.

Their dates were even kind of repetitive. They had dinner somewhere, they talked, they made out or had sex, repeat. And some of the intimacy was kind of irritating because Gabe wasn't sure how to act. He would pull away too soon and leave Kingston wondering what he did wrong or if he was too pushy.

I did very much like Gabe and Kingston as people and as a couple. I really liked Gabe's twin, Gideon. I liked most of the secondary characters except for Kingston's brother and I'm not really sure about Kitt. They decided, in the beginning, to ask some rodeo friends if they would like to work for them. Three agreed but one hasn't come yet. The other two are Kitt and Carter. Carter wasn't in enough scenes to form an impression. Kitt just kind of seemed like a void or a null. He just took up space. He had his leg trampled on by a bull the very day the twins called him to offer him the opportunity and he has been going to physical therapy. I would have already downloaded the next book if it was going to be about Gideon, but I'm not excited to read about Kitt.

I noticed another reviewer for the next book stated he or she liked Brendon, who is the cook they hire, in this book. I'm not sure how they could have an opinion one way or the other when Brendan (or is Brandon?) only spoke a handful of lines. It was impossible to get a feel for what kind of person he was - other than his size, which I believe was over 6 feet and 250 lbs. That's a big guy for a cook. He also works out a lot, so we did learn at least that much.

Now for the spoiler ********

They find a note that states the first surprise will be in the cabins. They find a very light weight bag in each cabin. And the thing that killed me was they took them back to the hotel to open them and they don't even do that when we're watching. There's no excitement of what's in the bags???? And then in the next chapter, they casually mention what it was. This was highly disappointing and seemed counterproductive to even including the surprises to begin with. That's also the only surprise they find. I thought they would find one during a particular scene that happens at the end of the book, but no. I had been waiting for that scene to happen for that reason. Another disappointment.

*********End spoilers

I'm not sure if I will read the next book or not. I may wait until the 3rd book is out. I may also read the related 10 book series but won't be reading her shifter books because I hate the whole mpreg concept. Which is a bummer because I love shifter books. So, I did like this book and will read more by this author but warn you to expect a pretty average romance. (It seems as if most raters give something a 5 if this is how they find the book, so these reviews are bloated, IMO.)

Back to where it started

This is a very good book, well written and edited, with a variety of nicely developed and interesting characters. BUT, I can’t help but make a comparison to Crooked Bend and have Gabriel come up lacking in some small way that failed to draw and hold my attention the same way. That is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars - my own personal opinion and preference.

In a lot of ways this is a slow-burn romance, with both Gabe and King getting close then drawing back, yet unable to resist inching forward again. They make a good pairing, if a somewhat unexpected one, building off a physical connection to get to an emotional one. The idea of a LGBT friendly guest ranch is an intriguing one, with a lot of possibilities to explore. This ends on a decided HFN note, so I imagine we’ll see their relationship progress more in later books in this series and I look forward to seeing that.

Sweet and sexy with cowboys - what more do you need?

Taylor Rylan is always great at showing how couples make things work between them and this is no different. There’s definitely a pull between Gabriel and Kingston from the beginning but both have their own reasons for not jumping in with both feet at first. Despite that we get a sweet journey as these two find their footing with each other and work to make something between them last. This isn’t a HEA as we usually get with Taylor’s books, it’s very much a HFN as the blurb suggests (which is in no way a bad thing - it makes more sense that way). That being said I never felt like I was missing out because it wasn’t a HEA and we always get to see lots of past characters in subsequent books in the series so I can imagine the next book will still see these two working towards their HEA. I also love the idea of an LGBTQ ranch and cannot wait to see more!

Just when we think we have things figured out Taylor Rylan throws us a curve ball. When she announced a new series, we did the happy dance. How can you not? Welcome to Broken Arrow Ranch. Gabriel is someone who knows when he doesn’t know what he is doing and finishing the ranch is one of them. He also knows that he doesn’t know how to run one. When he finds a contractor to complete the work that needs to be done. The attraction is mutual Kingston is just as taken back by his new boss. They both know that they should not break the boss and worker roles that they have. That lasts only so long before chemistry takes over. But relationships are the one thing that Gabe has never done, it scares him. Kingston is willing to wait and take things at Gabe speed. This slow burn is amazing, and I can’t wait to see more from Broken Arrow Ranch.

3.5 stars..A great start to the book as Gabriel and Kingston meet. This is a perfect slow romance with both povs.
Gabe didnt know if Kingston was gay and each were dancing around the attraction. Okay I was looking for something a little different to make this stand out from other themed books that I've read. Maybe this was just a little too slow in the romance department but I lightly skimmed pages for the story, I wasn't feeling the chemistry between them.
This was a okay story to enjoy without dramas.
Gabriel and Gideon 34 twins inherited a ranch and all its pink glory...yah not telling but it's hellarous. A new start for them both away from the radeo circuit but they needed help with the ranch.
Kingston arrives at the ranch and his introduction is a good one..lol

Fantastic!! Gabriel and his twin brother Gideon have just inherited a ranch from their Grandfather. It’s up to them to decide if they want to keep it or sell it. They decide to make it into a guest ranch but need help doing so. Enter Kingston who is an architect/construction company owner. These two were perfect for one another!! I loved Kingston’s patience with Gabe. It was sweet and steamy! Sooo good! I loved every single word in this story!! I was glued to the pages, couldn’t pit it down. Read it on one sitting!!! This was fantastic and I seriously recommend this story!! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.

Full disclosure....I had a bit of trouble starting this for some reason. Could it be because I haven’t read a cowboy/rodeo book in awhile? Who knows?
Once I got into it is got intrigued by the concept of what the twins were hoping to turn the land and buildings their grandfather had left to them into. Plus hot twin brothers and construction works? Um yes please?
Gizmo is the little dog everyone falls in love with even though I do agree with Gabe that little dogs are not my thing. I might have to make an exception for Gizmo!
I can’t wait to see what happens with Kitt and find out if his leg heals correctly so he can lead an active life.

I absolutely adored this newest book by this talented author!! Gabriel and his brother own a ranch that needs some improvements. Kingston is the contractor hired to help renovate the ranch. Sparks fly between the two and what we see is a very delicious slow burn that when it ignites to a full flame is steaming hot!! I loved every minute of their story, I laughed, cried and swooned all throughout their story. Such a sweet, hot story and one that I would recommend to all. I can't wait to read more in the Broken Arrow series, well done!!!

2.5 stars. This would have been so much better with a little professional editing to tighten up the storyline and help it flow more smoothly. The premise was interesting and the characters were engaging but it was rather disjointed. For instance: totally leaving the suspense of what was in the bags at the end of the chapter then two chapters later revealing what should have been momentous in such an offhand manner that it had no impact. What was worse was I no longer cared. Also both main characters kept “angsting” over the same minor relationship issues. For f’s sake they are both mature adults. Move it along and show their life experience/maturity.

This book was not bad, it was just a little on the boring side and feels like stuff was left out. Example the ‘clues’ the letter in the beginning referenced made it sound like there was going to be a surprises around every corner but nope, we got were a bunch of envelopes and then nothing. I kept waiting for something/ anything to happen, at one point I thought my kindle malfunctioned when it said i was at 91%, thought that’s not possible nothing happened yet. I’m going to read Kitt’s book because i’m curious and hoping maybe we’ll get more of the ranch’s story along with each book.

This is a new to me author and was excited to read her. I love the premise of the book. I'm a sucker for cowboys so I was thrilled knowing that there would be more to come. The main characters in the book Gabe and Kingston ad chemistry but were shy to start anything as they were semi co-workers.
While I enjoyed it, I felt it needed more of a spark at times. We read how they liked their steaks and coffee a little to much. Some parts were a bit boring.
That said it did keep me interested to read the next in the series.

“Gabriel” is a first in a new series of Taylor’s and its incredible! Anxiously awaiting for more to come! Gabriel and his twin Gideon are fixing up their inherited ranch from their grandfather. They hire Kingston to head up the construction and from there the attraction between Gabe and King grows! This book is low-angst and adorable!
