When evil comes it comes with the face of death and death gives lots of pain to those who loses there loved once and the same happens with the story this book tells when it comes they brake them and parted them and started a new story which is to unite souls who got separated in past lives and the story is getting weaved once again with a new ink.

I liked the narrative style of the book which also talks about the nature and said that when the evil rises nature stops them in there ways and helps those souls who is meant for each other and Love the sould who tends to something bigger.

The book is very detailed and needs full concentration to read it and have a very beautiful story with some love, deception, lust, deceit and some motivational lines.

I loved the book but sometimes it bored me and in start I was confused what was happening as I didn't read the first part and after sometime I got hold of the story and then I started liking the story.

Glimpse of Characters

Ozcan from the beginning was a man of wisdom and a lover of nature and it's beauty, he learned and become what his teacher wanted him to be and had followed his duty in very reverence way and had a heart to help those who is in pain, his life was good but he only desires for the girl he sees in dreams and always goes to sea to talk to immortal being who gives him motivation to be on his path.

Hanah a girl from india is searching to find the meaning of her dreams which she always sees and in finding that she finds him the man who she always sees in dream and keeps her eyes on him so that when she gets chance she would talk to him and hope for the best.

Junaid was working as a child labour in a mosque and a young man once gave him his number to call him when he need him and the worse day came he lost his father and he had no place to go and call the man and the man kept him under his guidance and loved him like his own brother.

A women died giving birth to girl and in last breath told the nurse giving some paper that someone name Ozcan will come who is her guardian and big brother to her husband.

As we all know, an essential element of historical fiction is that it is set in the past and pays attention to the manners. Authors also frequently choose to explore notable settings, allowing readers to better understand how these individuals might have responded to their environments. Some subgenres such as alternate history and historical fantasy insert speculative or abistorical elements into a novel and this book accomplish all the qualities in a genial manner. Which make it an apposite element of deft writing skills with that,it not only a historical fiction but a compounded bag of various emotions, like love, family, motivation and much more.

This book explicitly revolves around the characters named Hanmah, Junaid Maryam. They all have different perspective and objectives in life. We need to read this book to know how they spend their life and the adversities they face. Is there any influence of Maryam, who has some magical powers? And all of it in the land of Syria.

This book allows us to travel through the portal of Deniz in the high tide across parallel lives.
The way the author describes the relationship between Junaid & Bahr is unique in every aspect. I've read a lot on the topic of incoherence but in this book it has depicted it on a whole different level which enchants the reader. The poems have been added to the story which makes this story a perfect piece of writing and fascinates the readers.

Previously I've read a lot of books on History, both fiction and non-fiction (mostly) and honestly, I found this book unique. This book easily transcend my feeling of not reading a historical fiction as this book maintains a good pace most of the time. The author garnish the elements, incidents and characters in a transparent mannerfasfascin hardly found any languid, obnoxious description and all of it in a lucid language with the balanced plot. And lastly I must say, I fall in love with the cover in the very first instance.

You can definitely give this a try to pacify your reading bud..

I have a lot of conflicted thoughts on this book. So I'm going to divide my review into two parts- what I liked and didn't like.

•What I liked:

- The plot is really interesting. I loved the way things progressed, the events that took place, etc.

- I really appreciate that even with so many characters the author took the time and effort to develop each of their stories with proper character growth and great world building.

- The Poems: There are a few poems here and there throughout the book. And you guys know how much I love poetry so it's no shocker that I ended up really loving the poems.
Sharing a few of my favourite lines~
"I went to catch raindrops for you,
Countless droplets of joy,
Along the trails of wet pitter patter of hope,
Heaven opened and showered these blessings,
I collected all and I sent them to you,
Till the sun comes out,
May these raindrops protect you."

Sadly that's the end of what I liked. Now, coming on to What I didn't like:

- It took me so much longer to finish this book than I expected. It proved to be quite a difficult read for me. It doesn't help the fact that it's 408 pages long. Usually the length isn't an issue for me but with this book I was really struggling. The main contributing factor was the pronunciation and understanding the meaning and use of the Turkish words, names and phrases/dialogues used throughout the story.

- There are too many characters, names and places thrown in, which left me confused at times.

- I was losing interest in some places.

These factors made it hard for me to enjoy this book. I had high hopes but sadly I was left underwhelmed.
You guys can give it a try maybe you'll like it more than I did. This book just wasn't for me I guess.

I got to know after reading the 1st chapter that it's 2nd book in the series. I haven't read the 1st one but it didn't affect much while reading this one.
I started thinking it's fantasy genre but it was mostly into historical fiction.

It's about Ozcan, who was disciplined son as well love natural things. He despise war, blood shed.
He see dreams of Kum and Deniz that is sand and sea who loved each other eternally which made Ozcan's believe in love strong.
Everything changes when he go dubai and meet Junaid there.

I like the way author has written the character. Having lots of characters, it must have been hard to get that deep in their stories.

At some places over descriptions took me off the speed. It felt as if the book was too lengthy for its story. It's language and vocabulary was rich. And as I am not
that much into historical fiction I like it average. For the fans of this genre this book can be a good read.

This is my first book in regards to any war history. The story is about Oscan his life, how he met Junaid and Junaid going to Syria, how he falls in Love, there is also Kum ve Deiz.

The First and Foremost thing I loved about the book is its poems, a very touchy, romantic, painful conveys what the author wants to portray. The next part I loved was Junaid and Bahr's love story. You can feel the pain, the love, and how separation takes place. I cried at some places. I loved Mariyam.

The negative part of the book, the start, and the end has too much drag, the author could have cut shorted few chapters. I was initially bored but the book picked up its pace. I was also confused with Hannah and Oscan's Meeting, that part was quite confusing.

The title of the book is the best suitable for the story and the cover of the book itself portray what is inside it
There are numerous characters in this book. It is all about Love,History, war pain and inspiration.
The story is about the kind hearted young boy Ozcan Gunes, his life.
Also about Ozcan meeting Junaid. Junaid falling in love with Bahr.
Read the book and find out the connection of Ozcan with Hannah and who was Maryam.

At times the book is emotional, can make anyone cry. The beautiful poem in between makes the book more lively and interesting.
The writing style of the author makes the book engaging to read.
I would recommend those people who love to read historic fiction and also who like to read love and separation stories.

With a hint of mystery and kismet magic, this book tells of a true love story in the backdrop of war and enchantment.
The storyline was painful and heartbreaking adorned with suffering and speration. So yes, it's an emotional book that will break your heart into pieces.
I loved the setting author have chosen to tell this story. The setting, travel adventure and culture shown brings an intrigue to the story.
The writing style is lyrical with poems in middle which adds a romantic flair to the book.
The only drawback was it gets confusing and boring at times. Otherwise, it was an emotional, beautiful journey.

FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF "Sand and Sea: CHILD OF TWO WORLDS" by Ann D'Silva.

Genre: Fiction (Fantasy, Historical fiction)

Rating - 4.5/5

QOTD: What makes you pick a fantasy book?
AOTD: Umm, I don't pick many fantasy books, but if I did, it should be the characters in the book.

Sand and Sea: CHILD OF TWO WORLDS" by Ann D'Silva. This is the second book in the series Sand and Sea. I am glad that I had already read the first part of the book a way back, which is the follow-up. As I have read the book's prequel, I have some reasonable connection with the characters in the book, and because of that, I connected with the book more. Here is Mr. Ozcan Gunes, a young and determined boy, but he is suffering from constant thoughts in his mind, always about blood gushing out from the dead bodies as if a big war has taken place. Not just that, he then started dreaming about Kum(sand) & Deniz(sea), who are in love unconditionally; you could say that they are one of the examples of true lovers. Later Ozcan will take us to Dubai for a Quran recitation competition. There he met Junaid, who was affected by a war that has taken place, so he is from the land of war. Imman helped him with Junaid's education and all his needs. With all that, Junaid meets Bahr, where he falls head over heels for her and marries her. They had a kid named Maryam, who is blessed with magical powers. We will also get to know about Hannah, who is also present in the prequel. She is the symbol of true love; she heads to turkey to meet her other soul.
.
Before entering into this book, I would like you to read the first one, not that you can't read this like a stand-alone, but as the characters' names are pretty difficult to remember. You will get into the flow of the writing because the writing of the author is quite different, and I like it, but when I read the first book, I couldn't get into her writing, so it's better you start reading the series from the book one. Yes, the plot of the book is slow, but the characters will keep you hooked. So take your sweet little time and read this book, as this is great but a lengthy one!

Book : Sand and Sea – The child of two worlds
Author : Ann D’ Silva
Version : Paperback

How often have we understood the plight of refugees? The ones whose land is destroyed and they may never go back to their hometown. We are in the mid of pandemic which many are already considering as world war, but do we know that some parts of the world are always suffering with war?
Syria , for me has been the matter of concern to me since the beginning of the war. I am always worried about the situation of children there.
This book is one fantastic read and an eye opener. I have been always inquisitive about the war history and this book has helped me to understand the horrors of the war and the dearth of humanity.
The story revolves around Ozcan, a devoted student and son. He is a deep thinker , and a keen observer. He is studying at a madrasa with an able mentor for him. He does converse a lot with his mentor. His life changes and takes a different turn when he visits Dubai for the Quran recitation competition. There in Dubai he happens to meet a Junaid a kid who is working near a mosque. This marks the beginning of a deep brotherly attachement.
Ozcan is often encountered with a dream that has kum and Deniz romancing each other. Since then for Ozcan understands and feels the epitome of love. Time passes and he becomes a messiah for many downtrodden who desperately need help. He gives his life for social services. Junaid joins with this brother like Ozcan in his venture for a while.
The world is now an Oyester for Ozcan.
The narration of the story is wonderful and deep. I am emotionally attached to Ozhan and we get a picture of Syria in the eyes of the author.
Will Ozcan finds his love ever?
What happens to the lives of Ozcan and Junaid?
Who is the child of two worlds?
Do read the book and co-journey with Ozcan.

Title : Sand and Sea : Child of two Worlds
Author : Ann D'Silva
Language : English
Edition : Paperback
Pages : 410

💫 While sitting in the safe boundary of our house how sincerely do we think or rather care for the people who are at war. Elderly people, women and children are the most affected by it. There are some children who not only witness but also take part in it.

💫 Child of two worlds is written by author Ann D'Silva. It is the second book of the series Sand and Sea. It is a beautiful book which allows us to get a close look at what the people who are in a war situation goes through. The story is about Ozcan Gunes, a young boy with simple desires who learns Quran. After learning, he goes to Dubai for fast Quran Recitation. There he meets Junaid, a broken lad with no money. Ozcan unites him with himself. After a while they both became brothers and they felt that they were both real brothers. Ozcan had a soft corner for the poor and needy and Junaid joins him in this good cause. The book is a mixture of many emotions. Love, friendship, separation and loss are the emotions which rule the story. It is an engaging story.

💫 The book is a result of the extensive hard work done by the author. It is a well written and well researched book. The choice of words used in the book is very rich. Poems are also added in the book which are like cherry on top of the cake. The plot chosen is that of a war land. We find multiple characters in this book. But all the characters are well developed. It is a long book so it took me three days to complete the entire book. The cover of the book attracted me. The title sounds exciting. When some parts of our world are already at war, it is a good book to read in order to get a broader perspective. It is altogether a different read.

Sand and Sea might seem like simple words to people like us. But this book gives a whole new meaning to these two words. Sand and Sea: Child of two worlds is more than just a simple narration. At the center of the story, the reader sees the journey of different characters. The reader is exposed to events and emotions that cannot be described in simple words. What I liked most about the book was how it developed- it wasn’t fast-paced; it gave me enough time to absorb what was going on. The portrayal of the gruesome events in Syria is painted with utmost detail by the author.
For me, the terrible condition in Syria remained the core of this book, because at some point or the other it affected the growth and development of different characters. Talking about Sand and Sea, the character Ozcan often has dreams about Kum and Deniz, which signifies Sand and Sea respectively. This added a subtly romantic touch to the otherwise intense backdrop of the story. For me, Ozcan was a simple character on the surface, but inside he was an intense man. His thought and vision were beyond that of an ordinary man. Ozcan is soon exposed to Junaid on one of his endeavors in Dubai. Ozcan and Junaid soon become the best of friends and continue to have a huge influence on each other’s lives.
This book is full of characters and their stories. Each character is on a personal journey and it is beautifully represented by the author. The book itself is quite indulgent. Each character is unique and often leaves an impression on your mind. To be honest the book is quite long and this can be a drawback.
Another great thing about the book is the poetry. I love the poetry… that’s all I can say about this book. Grab a copy and uncover the secrets of this book.

Characters - well developed and described
Flow - slow paced

The author has narrated the story amazingly which made me hooked till the end despite of the slow pace. There are so many characters in the story and all the characters have been given equal chance to contribute in the story. There are poems in the book which added the beauty in it. It is a perfect blend of love, war, history, mystery etc. All the war scenes and places were described so beautifully which can be easily visualised. I recommend this book to all specially who love reading about wars and history.

In nutshell, an informative read.

This is the second book in the series on two soulmates and nature's connection to love, the trilogy is also a travelogue across Turkey and India, tapping into cultures, places and human connections. The second book individually deals with some global issues like the displacement of families of Syrian refugees, adoption and the importance of respecting nature.
Through this book the readers can have the taste of history, love, inspiration and more.
The narration makes the readers engage well.
The lucid language is another plus point.
The title suites the book and compliments it well. It's a mixture of several genres yet greatly influenced by the historical fiction.
There are numerous characters in the plot. Each character is properly described and illustrated. It's great that we can make a connect with the characters and that makes us indulge furthermore in the story.

I personally don't read historical fiction but after this one, I'll surely try more. It's a great book. I would recommend all the historical fiction lovers to check this trilogy out. The first two books are published.

The story is set up in the war land Syria and revolves around the main protagonist Ozcan Gunes, a young shy, quite, disciplined boy and a deep thinker who frequently dreams about wars and angles of death, bloodshed, or killing of people with a sword. Apart from this, he also used to think about Kum (sand) and Deniz (sea), which gave a romantic touch to the whole story. Kum and sea love each other which made him believe in true love so he is in a search of his true love.
Hafiz Halit Mu'min was a kind teacher and a father figure to him who encouraged Ozcan's spirit and gave wings to his talent. To Ozcan he was a gardener who shaped him from a weak sapling into the strong man. Ozcan had graduated as a Hafiz and was selected to attend the world Quran recitation competition in Dubai, representing Turkey. There, he met Junaid who is from Syria and his father who is a carpenter and works at the same mosque where the competition was conducted.

Will Ozcan be able to find his true love?

This is the second book of the series Sand And Sea by Ann D' Silvia. The last book was one of my favorite reads of that entire month. So while I picked up this part of the series, I was having very high expectations from the author.
Well, I can say this one made me so satisfied again. The author has introduced many characters in the story which are very well explained. The language used is easy and Lucid. I loved the way she has added poetry in the book. Each of the poetry is so beautiful and unique. The cover is so pretty.
Super engaging! Amazing read.

This is the second book in the series named the Sand and Sea. It's a mixture of several genres yet greatly influenced by the historical fiction.
The plot is set up in the war-torn Syrian land where the sand and the sea are the two protectors and lovers. There are numerous characters in the plot. Yet I would include a little bit of the main characters, Junaid, Hannah and a mysterious kid.
Junaid is a young man who wants his desires to be fulfilled but end up being on different perspective. Hannah seeking out for love. Junaid meets Bahr and he falls in love and marries her soon. And there's a kid named Maryam, who is blessed with magical powers. Will the kid bring some changes to all these lives?
As there are numerous characters, it's a little different to remember each name but the author has penned down each character development in detail. Each character has been given sufficient scope to contribute to the plot.
The narration is kept simple and easy making it a enjoyable read. It's a thick book including in the development of the fictional world and characters too. The pace is a bit slow as the author has taken enough time to build up the world for the plot.
The language used is lucid.

These lines from this book "Sand and sea child of two worlds"..this book reflects the situation in countries like Syria,Yemen,Iraq etc where a brutal force divides the people into groups and inculcates in them the greed of power..
A blend of love, lust, greed and power, this novel begins with pieces which looks unrelatable to each other.Slowly by proceeding further, these bits come together and forms a appreciable yet a bit exaggerated novel.. While many a times it looks like the author speaks about the physical or the materialistic world, author have kept the philosophical meaning a bit mystery which reader needs to unfold
Ozcan was the one who was destined to save and serve the humanity. He met Junaid and helped him to set up his life..While the life was always dangerous in Syria..What happened during the war was what Ozcan was made for..
A smooth and fast moving novel with an excellent plot yet with a bit of exaggeration in emotional stuff

Sand and Sea: Child of two worlds is the second book in the series but can read as a standalone too. Book has a whole a new story with some of the characters from the last book. Although I haven't read the first book in the series, it wasn't hard to grip the storyline.

The book is about a war history. Our Main protagonist Ozcan found himself in the middle of it. He has frequent dreams about wars and angle of death. The story is about him trying to find the meaning about his dreams, life's purpose and finding love. Other characters like Junaid, Bahr, Mariyam and beautifully blended into the storyline. It has everything from searching and finding love, the separation, friendship and many emotions magnificently incorporated. Junaid and Bahr's love story made me emotional.

It's a slow paced read even though it's only has 400 pages, it took me much longer to read than average book of same length. The book has many different places, languages and different words in those languages and to decipher the meaning of those words in between was a hectic task.

I love the cover of the book and plot is really interesting. I would have enjoyed it more if the story was dragged too much. If you don't mind a slow pace read for intresting plot, can give this book a try.

Sand And Sea Child Of Two Worlds is a historical fiction novel mixed with philosophical thoughts , poetry and spirituality by Ann D Silva .

This book contains 20 chapters set in Turkey. The story revolves around the characters named Ozcan , Junaid , Hannah , Behr and Maryam . Ozcan and Hannah met because of a dream later after facing so many struggle they found each other . Junaid who met bahr and falls in love with her later they got married . After Junaid's death Ozcan found Maryam who's Junaid and Bahr's daughter in Syrian refugees camp then his life totally changed and he realised his dreams .

The storyline and plots are really interesting and gripping . I loved the way Author has used poetries in the novel which has made this novel quite gripping .

The author has impeccably portrayed and given justice to each and every character . She showed the situation in Syria and how war affected the people's lives there .

The language was easy and understandable though I felt the narration is little stretched but I think author has just tried to made it easy so one can understand each plot and character in the story. I really enjoyed and loved the ending ❤️

Child of Two Worlds is the second book in the Sand & Sea Series.

It's a story of Özcan Güneş, a young boy with simple desires who finds himself on a path conflicting with that of his identity. His longing for his soulmate from his dreams grows over the years.
Junaid, an unfortunate lad from the war-torn Syrian land, sees his fortunes take a turn when destiny crosses his path with a kind Imam, who offers him education and a better life.
Hannah, a Mumbai girl, seeks the love of her life in a faraway land, heeding to the call from her dreams she embarks on a journey to find him, in Turkey.
To know further read the 📚.

Sharing my favourite poem of the book 📖
"We are all travellers,
Venturing out in thought and through dreams,
The Sand and Sea are connected to our call,
Witnesses to every rise and fall,
Deniz is a portal for places to go,
A path back to lost love and connections to know.

We are an eternal essence of experience,
existing beyond the confines of time.
With mighty hearts and outstretched wings,
hope and courage are the songs we sing,
Carrying blessing in our palm at sunrise,
We are the children of truth, not lies.

Gain is loss and loss is gain,
They only bring pain.
Yet this is what we chase,
Round and round the maze!

🌺Once and for all I have become a fan of this book and I will keep it forever. This is one of those books that will make you cry throughout. It's a story of love, separation, finding, friendship and what not.
The author has very carefully crafted the whole plot which is fascinating to read. The language is simple and I really loved the inbetween prose/short poems that are included. The title also fits perfectly with the Storyline and the cover nodoubt is beautiful and heartfelt.
.
.
The storyline has many characters so I would suggest you to please be focused while reading else you may have to either re-read it or end up not understanding what the author wants to convey.
Major characters are Junaid, Hannah, Bahr, Maryam, Ozcan, Nawaz. Each character is well crafted and has a significant role to play...
.
📚If you are not reading it then you are missing a real good story. Do read the first part as well (footprints in the sand).

Sand and Sea: Child of Two Worlds is the second book from the triology "Sand & Sea Series". This is the first story plot that I have read about that takes back war history. It is the story of protagonist Ozcan, waiting for his love of his life though dreams.
.
Ozcan Gunes, a simple and young boy, who is longing for his soulmate from his dreams. Whereas Junaid, an unfortunate lad from the war torn Syrian land, experiences his fortunes take a turn. Ozcan went to Dubai for Quran recitation championship there he tends to meet Junaid and he wants to do something, so shares his contact details with Junaid.
.
The plot is very interesting, the narration goes very well, I loved the narration, and characters is concerned, the book has a lot of characters, it goes good for those who can remember all of it, else creates a lag. Except that, a great book, I liked the cover and title, they are so apt to the plot.
.
Who is the child of two worlds? Will Ozcan find his love? Read to know!
Happy Reading

I got to read this beautiful book Sand and Sea:Child of Two Worlds. Its a book about love, war, philosophy, dreams and life. One must notice factor is the immense beauty of language. Till some point I got no idea about what was happening, but this language held me on to the book.
Execution of magical realism is such that reader never notices how it blends so well with the real happenings...and I loved that.

This is book two of the series and that so it takes a little time to catch up with the story.Ozcan, who is a leader and religious man is in search of finding meaning to his dreams. He meets Junaid in between and they develop a bond. How their lives change during some national conflicts in Syria and where it leads all of the characters is the central plot of the story.

What connection can Hannah an Indian girl may have with these people in a land far away is also a beautifully carved mystery.

Maryam, the baby girl changes everyones life forever.

I liked the book for its presentation, plot and themes but felt some dryness at certain points too.

“True love is not a strong, fiery, impetuous passion. It is, on the contrary, an element calm and deep. It looks beyond mere externals, and is attracted by qualities alone. It is wise and discriminating, and its devotion is real and abiding”. The line as stated here remains wholly pertinent to the overall context of the literary work at hand.
Delving further, as stated earlier on the storyline of the book combines the element of faith and true love as the same can be seen from the relevant characters involved and the faith element can be seen from that of The majestic Sand “Kum” and the mysterious Sea “Deniz” who remain the constant protector of mankind against evil. As far as the storyline is concerned Özcan Güneş is one of the characters who feels conflicting emotions regarding his identity and similarly the presence of characters namely Hannah and Junaid who have their own quests in life.

Firstly the cover of this book is just stunning and beautiful. It's so attractive so I couldn't resist and wanted to read it asap.

So story revolves around Ocean, an 18 year old child. He is really a deep thinker and a really kind boy. He always helps the needy. Junaid also eventually joins him. They have the most beautiful bond of brotherhood.

This book is an eye opener about the horrors of war. Please read the book to find out what i mean. After reading this book I'm very grateful to the author for writing such a beautiful book.

There are even poems in the book and it made the book more beautiful to read. They were heart warming. The characters were so realistic and were built really amazingly.

The narration was also done brilliantly. I don't want to spoil anything so I just want to say please read this book. A must read for everyone. Hope you all like it as much as I did.

I must say this book took me to an another level. Everything relating to the plot, character portrayal, the suspense has left a special impact over me.

To be honest for the first time I was struggling with my keypad what to write for this book . The things which really touched my heart I just can't portray them in my words . Here my struggle begins..

Sand & sea ' The title is jst not a title the author shows the origin of human from where we are born and what we needed the most in order to exist but despite that we all run to climb the greedy mountain and we forget that only our good deeds can save us from the after life turmoil not the money or the power we earn.

The battle of blood, the screaming of the children has their own way to show us the cruel picture of the war. The poems are just beyond beautiful. I was so pleased while reading the book I feel like will just hold it in my arms forever.

Was it a fantasy or historical fiction I just read? It's hard to say.

This is quite an emotionally written story set in Syria and Dubai and it's also a part of the series. But can be read as a standalone. However I did not know this prior to reading this.

Sand and Sea follows the dreams of a young boy who dreams about nature and hates war but lives in the modern world War zone. He meets Junaid when he goes to Dubai and that changes his life.

So many characters and so many sub plots make it a lengthy read and it's not for the light hearted. There are also some poems penned by the author sprinkled around the book that mixes right with the theme of the book.

I'd have been able to enjoy this book a lot better had it been some 50 pages short and I wish I had read it in a single sitting instead of spending weeks with it.

Go for it if you like young fantasy fiction with a lot of actual history in it.
