This book is literally about how animals see. It shows you how the eyes work, how the eyes connect to the brain, theorizes on how vision is processed, and shows you what colors different types of eyes see, and how they work in different atmospheres (ie, in water and in air) and at differnet distances.
This book was a little bit pedantic at times but overall it just opened my eyes and made me try hard to look at things around me and imagine how they'd look if I were a squirrel etc. I just love the pictures in this book with their color skews.
I imagine a more recent version could have been even better and more pictures would have been great, but despite reading it some 25 years after publication I really recommend this book.
