Nicholas Kalashnikoff was a Siberian-American author from the 1930s to 1950s. Before moving to the United States in 1924, Kalashnikoff participated in the 1905 Russian Revolution and was a political exile during the rest of the 1900s.
One of the most touching stories I have read in my life, and I've read alot of them. I can't even begin to count how many times I've read this book and every single time it moves me like I'd never read it before. Even tho it has been a couple of years since I last picked this book up from the shelve, I can still recall countless details and just thinking about this story, moves me all over again. The author really does a great job creating a world seen through the eyes of a horse, and it's one of those books that you just have to keep reading, it'll draw you in completely. A must read for anybody who enjoys touching stories, or loves horses. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Warning tho, it's not all happy go lucky, there are quite a few moments in the book where I shed some tears.
