While Renji continues to train Ririka, he’s visited by none other than Berta Mathers, his former pupil and a member of the Sorcerers’ Association! She’s come to keep an eye on him, and when she finds him dabbling in forbidden magic…she’s more than ready to teach him a thing or two. But they’ve got bigger problems, as one of Berta’s colleagues catches Ririka alone and attacks her! Will Renji and Berta make it in time to save her?
The writing in this volume nosedived. It's so disjointed in some spots that I still don't know what the author was trying to write. Of course this could be a translation issue as well, but either way a good 20% of this volume was nearly impossible to clearly follow.
Forbidden arts, lost Druid magic, and now, people coming to destroy our friends?
The Homunculus it turns out, is a vessel for the soul of sensei's little sister. After literally blowing herself up last volume, she inserted part of herself in Riri's wand. Then it appears sensei created a fifth Homunculus as Riri meets the creature on the street, and little sister is in it. Investigators from the society who control magic and it's practitioners show up, one the former pupil of sensei. Sensei's got a few tricks up his sleeve it seems, as does Riri. It turns out she may be the most powerful Druidic magician to ever exist!
I mean it is developing story-wise, however I feel like it's missing something or it's not very engaging. It's just not very... maybe I was expecting more romantic drama. Maybe that's a future function in this storyline in the future volumes? It's kind of weird that there's another character joining the mix. Maybe it's to provide this illusion of a harem for the target audience. However, I guess I'll need to read more to see. I may just drop it if it doesn't capture me in the next volume.
