The Bosshole #1

Mariage blanc à un million de dollars

Rate this book
“Stay married to me for a year, make five million dollars, and be on your way. I have a big house. We’ll hardly see each other. Don't worry, I'm not interested in being your first.”

When billionaire CEO Asher Davis speaks these words to me, I’m stunned.
He’s rich as sin, and breathtakingly gorgeous.
A tyrant by day, a playboy by night.
I hate his triumphant grin, but his seductive gaze makes me shiver at the same time.
And now he owns me.
I’m a journalist and I’ve faked my identity to get access to the most exquisite parties often before -
but he of all people has to be the one who catches me.
My blessing in disguise: Asher needs a fake wife to close the biggest business deal of his career with a candidate who is running for president.
So here’s my choice: Get sued, ruin my career, and go to jail…
Or marry him for one year and pocket 5 Million Dollars. Easy, right?
Well, so I thought. Because what starts as a fake, suddenly gets really intense.
Not only do we spend a passionate night and I make him the gift of being my first -
Even worse, I forget that I swore to myself to never fall in love with the enemy.
As if that isn't enough, my morning sickness tells me that an unexpected surprise is on its way!

When I discover Asher’s business partner’s horrifying secret I need to choose which to give up: my love for Asher and our unborn baby, $5,000,000, or my integrity...

MEEEEEH!!!

Juvenile

The premise sounded promising but it was pretty bad. The story was all over the place. The heroine was at home, then went to sleep in a hotel, was at a party then home again... Huh??? The hero was just an asshole with a big dick. Save your time and skip this one.

Well, I got a few pages in and feeling blah. Book slump is chasing me like a damn boogeyman in a nightmare 😫

Okay, dnf 4% had to stop. Just, blah. Blah characterization, details, etc. maybe this could be a cheap easy sidetrack read after a heavy book but not in the mood right now for this.

Nice romance read

This book is a bit predictable but it was light and enjoyable. Something I would recommend to a light romance reader. I prefer dark romance ,but I still enjoyed it .

Communication A+

Talk about that level of communication!👏👏👏 Authors, please note how good this book was and how well it turned out all because of the COMMUNICATION the main characters had with each other! Both characters were so open about what they wanted and their fears that there was no miscommunication and stupid problems that tore them apart.

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.

abbandonato!!!!!

He needs a fake wife. He asks her to be his fake wife. She hates him at first. Thinks he is an arrogant man. She agrees to be his fake wife. They then become close and she finds out she is pregnant with his baby. She has to make the decision of what to do. To stay with him or leave him and not tell him about the baby.

✨MILLION $ FAKE ✨

Assolutamente NO !

Ho faticato davvero a finirlo.

Low budget

I hate being so negative in reviews, but this is the second book I have read by this author and both of them have been the same. They feel like watching a movie that was low budget or poorly produced. Or getting generic rather than the name brand. There was no plot holes and the idea was good, but the details just weren’t great. The H tells her he loves her right away. The h is overly dramatic telling hi, constantly she is scared to be intimate because he didn’t want kids. Idk, it wasn’t bad, but it really wasn’t good.

Surreale l’intero percorso sentimentale e matrimoniale, frettoloso quindi male argomentato.

I'm incredulous that this wasn't pushed as a fairytale. The storyline was rubbish.

I know of no seasoned, socially sought after, physically gorgeous, near-god-like heir to a massive fortune with his own billions, who would willingly marry a woman he just met, much less one who fraudulently impersonated other female journalists and accepted benefits and gifts meant for the person she was impersonating. The argument he gave for not using women he already knew was lame, as was we excuses for breaking the law and giving in to him.

Good grief! Ophelia was (or Leah, as she preferred, which was ridiculous, as Ophelia was a prettier and more interesting name than boring Leah), snarky, irritating, a pain in the butt, and way too unlikable for my comfort. Asher turned out to be a much more thoughtful, caring, and less harsh and cynical as he responded to Ophilia's physical beauty and intelligence, as well as the fact that he considered her sexy. Personally, I couldn't stand her from the beginning, while Asher cracked me up despite acting lecherous with her. He came off fumbling and a tad charming, while she never rang true once she she's the twitchy witch act and tried to be vulnerable. Right. She didn't resonate with me, and I simply couldn't connect with her. The things she said came out sounding like rainbows, unicorns, and fairytales, but her actions in front of Asher before and right after first meeting him did not reflect an honest or upstanding young woman. In short, this book is a mess of contradictions and oppositional contrasts in personality and action. Not much rang true or felt believable, and he gave her far too much for the little comfort she actually begrudged him. Offering her five million dollars for one year of marriage? Then backtracking and telling her he wouldn't expect her to concede sex to him? No. Way. Fairytale, very one-sided in its HEA that obviously was written by a woman. One star.

Spoilerish, but not too much

I really enjoyed reading the book. The banter between the main characters was fun, and though the love story started to develop maybe a bit faster than expected, it wasn't any less delightful nor adorable, as well as sometimes unexpected. Besides, we have a good reason for it, since there's more to the story that first meets the eye, we have a bit of a mystery/conspiracy that needs to be dealt with.

Asher is a powerful billionaire with runs his empire with a firm hands and a no-no sense attitude, but he is also a big time womanizer. Hates commitments and will run away as far from them as possible. However, his new possible business venture might come crashing down for that reason alone.

Ophelia is a young journalist trying to find her way on the world, and before she gets her big shot, she will do almost anything and be almost anyone for a story. She is snarky, smart-mouth, an adrenaline junkie, and loves finding big scoops while no one suspects anything.

However, it all comes crushing down when she gets caught by none other than Asher. He offers her two options, go to jail and lose everything, or marry him for a year, help him get a multi-million dollar deal, and get a nice sum of money. Since she doesn't have the means to get out of trouble, she yields.

I loved the transformation both characters went through during this story, loved their interactions, their banters and fighting, the sweet and tender moments, and also the moments that are about the break them.

Will Asher and Ophelia manage to face everything coming their way? Will they be able to come out victorious of the dangers lurking around? And when the year is up... Will they have found enough common ground to stay together, or will it all become a memory?

Okay, finally I'm writing the review. The beginning was a really interesting way for a romance novel to begin. It was fun & new for me. I loved Ophelia's energy & the way she flirted. I wouldn't have expected her to be a virgin later one. Also, this is the first time (or the first time in a while that I remember) that was maybe a more realistic way for a girl to lose her virginity: she cried! And had the appropriate nerves about it.

Asher was kinda an asshole, even back when they were at the house. He reminded me exactly of this guy I had been talking to online for a while! They were both movie nerds. Anyways, Asher, when they got to his huge mansion (which sounded like a dream house tbh), reminded me of a frat boy in my mind lol.

Honestly, I could have had the whole novel of them enjoying the time in that huge house and slowly falling in love. I don't think I would have been bored. But there was also the whole other plot, which is how they met in the first place with Ophelia's investigations of the shady businessman who was running for president. I don't think that plot took away from the romance, bc if it had just been the romance, one would wonder well, what happened to the whole shady guy plot point?? --it needed to be wrapped up

Asher's house that was formerly an Arbn that he bought in Paris in my mind was the Arbn that my family rented in Paris, so I was thinking to myself how is this soo beautiful? Why do they want to move there? So I didn't like how they ditched that amazing house in Washington DC (can I live there??! Endless movies) to move to Paris at the end. Also, they would prob want a really big house for their kids too.

Recently, I read a book about a whole pretend marriage to secure a business deal, but I liked this book and Asher WAY better.

I think I've found my preferred troupe. CEO who's a jerk to smart mouth woman will put him in his place. He is usually cold hearted but she changes him and they fall in love.

In this one, Ophelia is the girl. She is trying to become a serious journalist. She crashes a big political event at a winery. Asher, a billionaire CEO sees her and wants her. He finds out her true identity and calls her on it. He needs to gain a family to win a big deal so, he makes her the ultimate offer...marry him or go to prison for impersonating another journalist. She agrees and he pays her one million dollars that day, with four million more at the end of one year.
AFTER they marry, she exposes a scandal involving one of Asher, 's most prominent clients. He turns the scumbag in and things get crazy. In the mean time he and Ophelia get close and really fall for each other. They even wind up with kids.

The story is a little much for me on the political stuff and what the scumbag was up to, but I liked everything else especially the light fun between Asher and Ophelia. Their banter was fun.

Would i recommend? Sure
Would I Reread? No
Book Hangover? No
Stand Alone or Series? I say stand Alone, although there is another book about one of Ophelia's friends either out already or coming soon and I fo not plan to read it.

Badly paced book... cute epilogue was the best part

So I'll start of by saying I expected so much more from this book from reading the blurb. It was terribly paced and it felt like the author didn't quite know who she wanted the characters to be. My first problem is the main girl, Opehilia. She's a free spirit who basically steals other people's identities without hardly a second thought and then shes made out to be some fragile girl out to save the world and always wanting to do the right thing. Second, the main Male lead, Asher, is supposed to be a playboy who never wants a family or really fall in love becauss every girl he meets wants to immediately get married and start a family with him because he rich, but for some reason he falls in love with this chick and by like day 3 he's in love with her... really? 3 days..... not to mention by the time you even get to the part where shes pregnant (pretty much the end of the book) he's totally cool with it and wants to start a family with her. Contrary to what the blurb says there's never really a time where she is forced to choose between "her love for asher and their unborn baby" and the money. The best part was honestly the epilogue. It was cute and it was nice to see them happy with a family.

This was a very surprising great book. It started off a little with Oplelia Jameson sneaking in places to get a story as a freelance journalist to her getting in deep trouble for impersonating someone she was not….

Then…. Stepped in Asher Davis a very rich billionaire who had a technology security company that protected all different kinds of people with money information.

That is where the story took a dramatic turn. OMG!! You’re going to love the turn that happened next.. I don’t want to spoil it but it involves, kidnapping, hostages, selling of people, holding Ophelia against her will.. but!! All things working out in the end.

BUT!!! You’re going to love every minute of it. I cried, got soooooo!! Pissed.. and loved the end of it soooooo! Very much. You have to read it AMAZING!!!!

Key People: Lainey— Asher’s Housekeeper
Thomas —- Asher’s Driver/ Butler/ Head of Security
Harper and Eliza — Ophelia’a roommates, and best friends
Jobob Rails — dirty politician/business man/billionaire
Harper’s parents— They own a lobster farm in Maine
Rupert Mandeville — Asher’s trying to buy his company

Ophelia wants to be a journalist but instead of taking an internship she decides to crash every function and press conference she can using her fake ID and wits. Asher is a billionaire CEO with a reputation as a womaniser.

Not a match made in heaven which is why Ophelia is shocked when Asher proposes a deal for her to be his wife for a year for which she will receive five million dollars.

Their journey is not a straight forward one but quickly they are becoming friends and care deeply for one another. When Ophelia's life is threatened Asher makes some decisions that he thought he never would and which will change his life completely.

Ophelia is a strong character standing up to Asher and slowly changing him for the better, much to the joy of his 'family'. Their journey is a rollercoaster but they grow together and the relationship that blossoms is truly special.

I very much enjoyed this book and seeing Asher be his true self with Ophelia is heart warming. The characters compliment each other well despite both being strong minded and independent soles. A joy to read.

Ophelia is a journalist who is trying to find her place. Since she hasn’t made a name for herself yet she pretends to be other people to get the scoop. She then sells that to a journalist she knows.
It is during one of these days pretending to be soMe one else that she meets Asher Davis. Asher is a billionaire who owns a storage firm that offers both physical and virtual storage that also protects what his clients have hidden. One such client is JoBob who is running for president and Ophelia realizes that things are not quite what they seem. Once her story gets out Asher realizes that he needs to get her away from JoBob as to not ruin his business. Asher proposes the idea of being married for one year to help him out. He is trying to buy another storage company but has realized he might have a better shot if he were married.
Asher basically kidnaps Ophelia to get his way. During their time together Asher and Ophelia come to realize things about themselves and each other.
I love the HEA that we get.

When I read this write up I thought a quick lighthearted book about a fake marriage turned into love troupe. Might have started that way but wow it turns into an amazing investigative page turner riddled with heartbreaking emotions, trafficking, action, lawsuit, and suspense sprinkled with some humor. This kept me invested in the book on the edge of my seat, captivated and with baited breath. I absolutely loved the part where Asher meets Ophelia's parents.

The author did an amazing job highlighting and describing the emotions and feelings between Ophelia and Asher and their growing attraction to each other. The supporting characters and relationships between them were realistic and well done. I loved this book can't wait to read more by this author.

Everyone deserves to be happy. Leah {Ophelia} was determined to be happy with a normal marriage and family after her contract with Asher was completed in a year. With both of them being only children and one had no true love from their parents, it was hard for them to trust being in love. Asher was funny. He was totally honest in how he felt about relationships. But as time went on, he fell in love with Ophelia because she was true to herself, She was not interested in his money and understood how he felt about love. He had such a respect for her because she was able to give and take he banter where other women could not. He also was able to trust her regardless how she felt about the situation. in the end they were fighters for each other.
The story was on the weaker side. Ophelia character other being a journalist, was not as strong as she should have been.

Ophelia and Asher meet whilst at a wine tasting evening where politicians and rich people discuss business. Ophelia is in disguise and pretending to be someone she isn’t as she is after a story to sell. Asher tries talking to her but she is not interested, she knows who he is and knows of his reputation, so stays clear.

The two meet again at a press conference, and Asher has a proposition for her, marry him or he calls the police! She doesn’t have much choice, but she refuses to make it easy. What neither of them expect is to start having feelings for the other, but love doesn’t come easy, especially when they want different things in life. Can the year they spend together bring them closer together or make them dislike each other more.

A good book which I enjoyed reading.

Good romance with surprising characters at the beginning
4.5
There're excellent characters, rather amoral, but at the same time, they have their own ethics. Leah is a journalist and she does not hesitate to fake an attraction to obtain information for the defense of social rights or the poor. Asher, hides digital secrets of the richest while remaining invisible from the FBI
Their pair is more than hot, all in manipulation, in denial of themselves and their link, all with an equally unhealthy political environment.
Asher pushes Leah to marry him, but the influence she has over him comes as a surprise to both of them.
The story is both surprising in its characters who are both tender and harsh on each other, all with steamy scenes.

Leah & Asher

I love a billionaire romance. I gave this book a 3/5 stars. I liked it but I didn’t love it. And the reason for that is simply because the story didn’t flow as smoothly as I’d have liked. Asher was known to be a womanizer and didn’t want any part in feelings or a future with anyone. Ophelia was a virgin who always wanted to do the right thing. Asher kidnapped Ophelia and forced her into a marriage she didn’t want. But it took only 1 night for both of them to question their wants and views. For me, that took all the original excitement from both characters. I would’ve loved to see their characters slowly grow into who they finally became. And as the pages went by I felt like the story played out very quickly without any excitement, curiosity or thrill.
