You don’t have to know how to cook, you just have to love to eat.
Delish.com speaks to food lovers who don’t fancy themselves chefs—and they do it through helpful, shareable recipes that are as fun to watch as they are to make. Now, they’ve crammed all of that insanity and entertainment into their first-ever cookbook. Inside, you’ll find more than 275 recipes and ideas that are meant to be devoured, not perfected—including Quesadilla Cake, Chicken Fried Cauliflower, and Cookie Dough Cheesecake—plus their best tips, tricks, and indispensable advice.
I am always drawn to cookbooks with lots of photos, so I love the fact that there is a photo for every recipe in this cookbook.
The best part is that this cookbook has recipes that even the pickiest members of my family are excited to try. I mean there is an entire chapter of pizza-inspired dishes. Pizzagna, anyone?
From game day to dinner with the in-laws, there is plenty of recipes perfect for entertaining plus plenty of family-friendly recipes for any day of the week.
The pics and recipes looked good - too bad I couldn’t get through the book to actually read them. My issue here is solely with the digital layout - it is horrible.
In this day and age, an author can rightfully assume that many people will consume their books digitally. In general, cookbooks might have, say, the pic on one page, & the recipe on the next. The layout of this cookbook has the pic AND the whole recipe all on one page, so that without zooming in, none of the text is even large enough to be legible.
I read cookbooks like I do fiction and nonfiction - page by page. I was **attempting** to read this on my phone, a feat I’ve managed to accomplish on a regular basis (with every other cookbook), but I was already frustrated and done with this cookbook by the time I got to the third recipe.
I perused every page of this cookbook looking for delicious and makeable foods and drinks. Some recipes had no appeal, even with alternations. Some recipes were spot on: I am making Pizza Rigatoni Pie tonight (pp158-159) and plan to make Cheesy Mexican Cauli Rice (pp234-235) with Tex-Mex meatballs (pp232-233) next week. Oh, and what about all those Add-Ins for Mac n Cheese (pp200-201)?
Super fun read. Colorful interesting images. Funny quotes. Kinda reads like a hip food magazine. It’s for people who aren’t experienced cooks which means lots of processed ingredients. Some of the things I tried were outstanding and some were just okay-
🍤 Shrimp Tostada Bites- cute and easy. Great for a party. Tastes just like a one-bite tostada! It only made 23 chips’ worth so I’d make way more for a real party. 🍕 Pizzadilla- this blew my mind. Who knew a TORTILLA would be so great as a crust! I used the Mission gf tortillas and loved every bite. Way better than 80% of gf restaurant pizzas out there. So so so good! 🧀 Creamy Three-Cheese Spaghetti- this was actually 5 cheese pasta for me because it calls for “Italian blend” and that’s what was available at my local grocery. I thought it was kinda bland so of course the kids loved it :) I used Jovial gf spaghetti as always 🍜 Asian Chicken Noodle Soup- this was alright. Healthy and filling. I used lotus gf ramen noodles 🥜 Peanut Butter Chocolate Trifle- this was INTENSE. I used birch benders keto cake mix, which I really liked! The recipe says it serves 14 but most of my friends who tried it were good after 1 or 2 bites because it’s so rich. Extremely tasty!! I loved eating a bite at a time over the course of several days! 🍰 Giant Twinkie Cake- SO sweet. My friend makes something similar and she said if I make this again, try omitting the powdered sugar from the filling. I think the volume would still be fine because it made probably twice as much filling than I needed as written. I used Betty Crocker gf yellow cake mix.
Enjoyed the recipes in this. Many relied on having precooked and prepped meat so thats something to keep in mind. Its totally more time to defrost, cook and shred chicken vs using a rotisserie chicken from the store. The entire book has color photos of each food and the recipes are simple definitely friendly for a beginner or inexperienced cook. Helps me with ideas for when i cant think and just need to pick something and run with it. Love this. Its only missing a star because although the food is good its not flavorful but I suppose you cant be easy, quick, accessable, and beginner friendly AND have lots of different cultural food.
Maybe they'll have more books like this. I really appreciate how simple and how colorful the book is. I would describe all the food in here as some form of American fusion. Simple flavors but you can always add your own seasoning to make it better.
I won this cookbook as part of a giveaway and I am very pleased with it!
This cookbook is perfect for recipes for gatherings (there's a whole section dedicated to dips and friendsgiving recipes, as well as other crowd-pleasing appetizers and party foods like pizzas). There are some recipes on the healthier side in this cookbook (I'm dying to try out the tomato tacos), but as the title and cover suggest, this cookbook is geared toward delicious guilty pleasure meals and desserts, perfect to feed a family or a crowd. All of the recipes are straightforward and use ingredients that you should be able to find at your local grocery store with no problem, making this a great cookbook for anyone who is a beginner or a pro in the kitchen.
I received this book in a giveaway for an honest review.
I cannot wait to cook everything in this book! I can imagine showing up to a get together and everyone be impressed by the food while also being very simple to prepare. I love how the book is sectioned, especially the "Friendsgiving" section. I don't want to wait for a holiday. Everyday is thanksgiving now. There are these funny little jokes and quotes on some of the pages that made me smile. This is a great edition!
One of the books I would not read cover to cover, but I enjoyed some of these recipes in these books. They might not be the best like the Crunchwrap supreme, but I want to try to make it since the homemade crunchwrap supreme would be far healthier than the one I would get at Taco Bell. I love getting two to three recipes and using them, refining them, and then moving on to the next recipe I want to try.
Thank you to Goodreads for this cookbook giveaway. I love everything about this cookbook! It has easy to follow directions, beautiful color photos and so many delicious sounding recipes! It has a lot of my favorite foods and different ways to make them. I can see this being one of my favorite cookbooks.
I have been enjoying going through this cookbook several times. It's been interesting to read about how some of the ideas for these recipes came about. The recipes aren't too complicated, nor do they use alot of unusual items that one ordinarily wouldn't have on hand. I want to try the steak fingers.
Lol, bought this because the sandwich on the cover looked fantastic, but that sandwich ISN'T in the book. Isn't that a cardinal rule of cookbooks? If there's a picture in the book, it needs to have an accompanying recipe? Luckily, there are quite a few other recipes in the book that I've found that I want to try.
Loved this book! Great photos, easy to read and follow recipes, especially for a new or a cook lacking confidence. Often times a cookbook is just beautiful photos of food that you will never eat, but these are recipes you want to try. This would make a great gift.
Love love love! One of my favorite cookbooks. Fun graphics and amazing, exciting, almost "out of this world" type recipes. About everything in this cookbook is an extreme. Love having fun and exciting dishes to try. :)
Thought this might be a good book for my college kids... because the recipes looked like they would fit the age. After making a few of the recipes my kids weren't impressed. So this is a no go. The recipes are heavy with the calories. Loaded with cheese and only a one and done kind of try.
I love how accessible these recipes are and that they have a picture for every dish. I'm not a visual thinker so I need help figuring out what things are supposed to look like.
Excellent cookbook, even if you're not a foodie. Most of the recipes are not overly complicated. Great variety of dishes. Lots of of comfort food as well as some more unique meals.
