Alice is a half-demon. A loner with one goal. Defeat her demon sire. But a chance encounter with a mysterious warrior changes everything.

Alice Blackburn has only ever known one thing. Demonland. All of her time is spent slaying demons and preparing for the day when she’ll have to defeat hers. Except she doesn’t know which of the seven deadly demons he is until the gorgeous warrior, Kade Everett fights his way into her life.

Now Wrythe, king of the Dark Moths, has ordered her to find out who Kade is and what he wants. A seemingly straightforward task, except it isn’t. Because she quickly develops feelings for him. Which isn’t part of the plan.

With time running out, it seems like Wrythe knows more than he’s telling her, and Kade certainly does. Can she find out the truth they’re hiding before her demon sire kills her?

I recently downloaded several ebooks that were free on Kindle and this happened to be one of them.

It wasn't bad, the idea was there, but it didn't make me want to continue the series.

It felt like the book tried to force parallels with Alice in Wonderland and they ended up looking out of place in the story. It would've been much better if the title was the only similarity.

This is also one of the worst cases of insta love I've ever seen. There's no build up, and the kiss was so random.

There's nothing strong going on here, scenes are jumping from one to another and there's no time to get attached to the characters. This is good for the mc because she shouldn't get attached to anyone because of her training/line of work, but for readers - it sucks.

The book ends at 82% so it's even shorter than I thought it would be. The rest is the first chapter of book two.

One last thing. The main plot of Alice in Demonland is that trainee baby demons are supposed to try and kill their demon parents before the latter kills them. Everyone has a parent that's one deadly sin.

Now, I got a bit confused there and I'm not sure if I missed it or if it wasn't explained, but, are there several demons that represent those seven deadly sins, or do they just resurrect back to hell when they're killed if there's just one original set? I'd really like to know.

I'm sorry, but this book is really bad

The premise wasn't terrible, but it's handled in an extremely sloppy manner. Most of it doesn't make sense, and it's very rushed. Its best quality is that it's short.

2.5 stars. I know I have said this many times before but I really hate cliffhangers. This book was good, but nothing special. It was a 3-star book till it ended on a cliffhanger and dropped half a star.

Beginning was good

But then there was insta-love with very little character development. I got bored. Nothing made sense, so I quit reading.

Interesting premise on Alice in wonderland. Not enough built into character development and story building. Short read.

This is a demon children's hunger games twist on Alice in Wonderland I got as a freebie for Kindle. Seems like it could be a fun read but this is just an excerpt of a longer story and nothing is resolved here. Skip unless you plan to get the rest of the series too.

Decent

Nice storyline and reimagining of Alice In wonderland. Story ends at 74%. I felt it could have been longer to really make it better but decent nonetheless.

Alice Blackburn was the child of a demon who mated with a human woman. Once she was born, her father murdered her mother and sent her adrift among humanity, where she suffered the humilities of the foster care system. That was until she was twelve. When she was told who she was and what she had to do, and was invited to Demonland to train until she was eighteen. She was unusual. When her powers came in, the black tattoos on the back of her hands were supposed to change color. Her eyes were also supposed to change color, but neither had. They didn’t know who sired her. When she turned eighteen, her dad would try to hunt her down and try to kill her for sport and everyone she cared about. She would be eighteen in a couple of weeks, but tonight, she won the challenge and invited everyone to join her in Wonderland, Arizona, where they wanted to go to The Mad Hatter’s Club.

Oh, an inventive retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I like the premise. Make Alice a half-demon. Train her to defend herself against her father, who would hunt her for his sport. The physical world-building was lacking. The action was too descriptive to be juvenile(Google, YA=Goodreads) fiction. I don’t know. Parents, you will have to read it to decide if your juvenile can read it. The character interaction seems on par with the unfolding action, and each student character’s background is the same. There is no distinction between the student character’s experiences or personalities. They seem to be cardboard cutouts or copies of one another.

While inventive, this adaptation of Alice in Wonderland leaves a lot to be desired. I give this young adult read four stars out of five stars.

It has insta love, not one character is developed and everything happens way to fast for me to care. The book is also wayyy to short for it to develop a true plot.
Alice is a moth that is destined to kill her demon father, but she doesnt belong to the 7 deadly sins, surprise surprise, she is the daughter of the devil (whom btw has the weirdest and most human name in the world). The romantic interest seems so convenient and stupid that i would prefer if he died, he is just so... intrusive. He mantains secrets and is pissed when people tell them they do not trust him. Oh wow dude, you are such a genius. I dont care for his "love story" with the MC (which so far, it seems like just attraction and somehow a liking the fireworks they feel when they touch) and his POV does nothing for me to like him or to amplify the knowledge of the reader.
The only character that seems slightly interesting is the director/other love interes? but he also, as everything in the book, isnt developed.
The scene where she appears to be in wonderland and chases a rabbit is so bad and has no reason that i am mad that it was put in there just to say there are similarities to alice in wonderland

Before reading this book, I read the reviews, and some people stated that this book wasn’t a good read. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy the book. It was a short read, which was disappointing. However, I enjoyed the story. Sometimes, short books are a good thing. I think this book was easy for me to get into because it reminded me of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. It’s not a completely similar story, obviously. But, it was easy to imagine the characters looking similar to the ones from that series. They’re demon hunters, after all. There weren’t enough descriptions on the characters, but that wasn’t a real issue. I just looked up actors/actresses that I like and was able to use those as references. I’m a true Alice fan, so I enjoyed this book. I quickly downloaded the second book. There’s not much character development, the story is quick paced, and there is just a lot that seems to be neglected from some scenes. If you want a quick read, this would be a good one to read.

Liked it as a short introduction into a new series, but wouldn't necessarily have connected it to the Blood and Snow series. Rashelle Workman creates a strange new world that forces young Dark Moth warriors to kill or be killed. The storyline is fast-paced and unique, although leaves us with a definite cliffhanger. The characters are new and starting to develop nicely. I wish the story had been longer to give both the storyline and the characters more time to develop. Overall, a good read and a nice introduction to a new series.

this was a fun book to read. Alice Blackburn is a 1/2 demon moth trainee and there are 8 trainee's learning to kill demons, each of the trainee's father's will attempt to kill them on there 21 birthday. Their leader is King Wythe. They live in the underground when Alice is the winner of a contest her prize is to go up to Wonderland for fun with all the trainees but Alice forgets it's Eric's 21 birthday.
There's so much more I could say.
I recommend this book now I need the next book.

This is probably the lowest review I've had in a while. I give out 4 or 5 stars easily, but this book is super short and spends too much time doing world building and not enough time on the story itself. The world sounds interesting, and the Alice tie in is cool, but that's not enough to make up for the lack of story. And then the excerpt I saw of the next book skips a lot of the in between. I don't know if ill read the 2nd book, even though I can read it through Kindle unlimited

On Point

This book is amazing 😍. I loved it . Alice still went down the rabbit hole but you have to read it yourself to find out what's in demonland. Captivating , some much spiralling adventure and compelling descriptions and cozy love scenes that although not explicit leaves your goes curling. Can't wait to read the rest of the books. This author RaShelle Workman has just become my favorite next thing lol.🔥🔥🔥😘💯

Really interesting

I loved the take on Alice in Wonderland. However it was shorter then I expected and it is not stand alone. Not quite a cliff hanger but close. I have many questions about the characters and the world and I'm nervous that they won't be answered or they will be glossed over in future books. Not sure if I'll continue the series.

Contrived

This book has an interesting premise, but the execution is bad. Things just keep happening and I'm supposed to care, but I don't because I wasn't given time enough. The author also over explains things and adds details that seem irrelevant to what is happening which further takes more out of the story.

Talk about a twist to Alice in Wonderland. Wonderland is the world we live in. Where as Alice lives in the world beneath. She's been born and bread to kill demons. And worst of all her own father who is the devil himself.

Fun twist on Alice in Wonderland

I enjoyed a new twist on an old series and having the seven deadly sins was interesting. She built a world within a world we know that has such an interesting premise. The characters fell in love too quickly but it was such a fun read.

Nothing like any other fairy tale reimagining I have ever read. I only downloaded it because I was bored waiting for my surgeon, and have enjoyed every word . Looking forward to reading the rest of the series

2/5 stars

This story had a good plot to it. It had a good start to a good thought oof a story and a retelling about Alice and wonderland. Although it was too short and stated well but then it got from one plot to a different plot and the love in this story came on too fast. So I have it 2 stars

Great story

You developed the story line , keeping the reader anxious for more. Could have spent a little more explanation on each character. Loved the lack of curse words. anxious for the next installment.

Awesome Reimagining

Definitely not what I expected, in a great way. There was bit of the original Alice In Wonderland that really made this book an interesting read. I cannot wait to start the next in the series.

DNF @ 8%

I'm just really not a fan of the writing style, particularly the way tons of worldbuilding is shoehorned in with what seems like every paragraph. I also have little to no investment in the main character, who is pretty archetypical in motive, personality, and backstory.

Short but captivating

I enjoyed the world this book creates. Its an interesting twist and reads quite smoothly. My only complaint is the brevity of some of the scenes and how short it was.

The world may be full of wonders but there may be a lot of darkness to them in Alice in Demonland by RaShelle Workman.

To read this, and other book reviews, visit my website: http://makinggoodstories.wordpress.com/.

Sired by demons, Moths are pawns in a gruesome game where they are hunted by their fathers as soon as they turn eighteen. Trained from an early age to fight their sires, Dark Moths have been sequestered from normal society in a compound in Wonderland, Arizona. Where all the other Dark Moths bear colored markings that correlate to their respective demon fathers, Alice's markings are black, obscuring the knowledge of who will eventually come to hunt her. On a rare outing from their compound to celebrate a birthday, Alice and the others encounter a demon sire as well as Kade, a fellow fighter who hadn't ever been at their compound, but who raises many more questions that Alice wants answered.

A swift read that is an entertaining ride, the narrative provides a take on Alice in Wonderland that weaves in elements of demonic and/or supernatural lore and a dystopian system to the already fantastic base tale, this story introduces an interesting, action-packed world. Taking time to build the characters and framing the setting, this first installment in the series offers a start to the story that ends just as the narrative truly begins; the tale likely develops further and more satisfyingly in subsequent books, but this one leaves too much unintroduced and unresolved, reliant upon readers being committed to continuing.
