Some men are born protectors, some are forged by the tragedies of their past, some are tempered and toughened by the atrocities they witness on the battlefield. Former Navy SEAL Logan Haines was a combination of all three. From a young age, he was taught that love hurt—it came with fists, lies, guilt, and blame. As far as he was concerned, love was pretend, a façade used to manipulate the ones you should care about the most, and he wanted no part of it. He f**ked, he played, he had fun—period, the end.

Then he walked into Triple Canopy and met the sexy receptionist, Lauren Saunders, and no other woman would do. The problem was she wanted that ugly four-letter L-word Logan had spent his life avoiding. She wanted marriage and babies and the stupid picket fence. Worst of all, she wanted all of that with Logan. Until he successfully pushed her away.
Now Logan’s living in a hell of his own making. Lauren wants not one thing to do with him. And if seeing the woman he’s fallen in love with every day at work isn’t bad enough, someone’s trying to kill her.

When Lauren vanishes it’s all hands on deck. In a race to find her, all the men of Triple Canopy go on the hunt. Lauren is one of their own, a member of the team. But only one man stands to lose everything. Logan’s hellbent on finding the woman who taught him love is peace not pain—even if it means he dies trying.

MMC goes deep off into assholeville before making a comeback. His mindset is believable and worthy of empathy, but do prep to be pissed before he has his epiphany that he can’t live without his woman.

Lauren was a bit cardboard for me. Very bland. Nothing bad or good… nothing exciting or TSTL…. annoying or high five. She was just kinda like Chevy Malibu - it runs fine enough to get you to the finish line, but it’s not your dream vehicle.

Side characters played their smallest roles yet in the book.

Bad guy was literally obvious.

Danger scene was rushed and anticlimactic, which is a shame because this book had one of the best investigative plot subjects of all the series, but it took such a back burner that it really didn’t transition well through the book.

2 maybe 2.5 stars. This is one of my least favorite from the series, and it showed in my reading. I typically read these in 4 hours or less… this one took me two days because I kept putting it down.

Hits every mark dead on

A must read author whose book releases I stalk and eagerly await (I’m a midnight “download and devour” reader for this author!!)

Along with I’m sure all readers of her books, I’ve been eagerly awaiting Logan’s story since we first met him in Adoring Delaney. His backstory just sounded so sad and through the Triple Canopy series his growing feelings for Lauren have kept us all on tenterhooks.

Well this book doesn’t disappoint and my only complaint is that it was so good I’m left with a desperation to read the next book in the series, as well as craving more Echo (swoon…) and now Dylan entering the fray also……

I adored how strong Lauren was despite everything and when negative things happened she just rolled with it and powered through. She wasn’t at all the meek character I had imagined her to be from what we have previously seen, instead her strength come from her quite confidence and ability to manage situations and feelings so well. Despite this though she needed more and needed to be well and truly loved and shown the value of her self worth.
Enter Logan who despite all his big talk, all his diversions and tactics to avoid her and pushing her away for all this time just couldn’t help himself when faced with no Lauren.

I adored how Lauren understood and could read Logan, how she encouraged him to deal with his feelings and whilst understanding and allowing his alpha badass tendencies, if they strayed over the line she was so quick to put him back in his place and not allow him to walk over her. I loved watching Logan fall for her too, recognising and realising his own feelings. His interactions with Ian were so emotional too, how that relationship started and ended was lovely and you have to love a man who so openly shows how much he adores his mum and sisters.

An exciting, thrill filled storyline with so much action it leaves the reader breathless, this is also a story filled with love and family (Logan’s family are just amazing it has to be said and I am so hopeful we see more of Dee Dee and Ian in the future, as well as Jackie - wink wink) but also so much time is spent on the purity of the relationship between Logan and Lauren and how this develops.

This book just hits every spot you want it to and is everything you need it to be for Lauren and Logan.

This year has passed scarily quickly with everything that has happened in the world…yet I find myself wishing time away to make the next book release come quicker.

Aside from feeling like I’ve read this book before when I’m fact it’s just too close to other books in the series and the connected series’, my biggest issue in the whole book is that Delaney had her baby at Quinn’s wedding. The same story line already happened before in a different book to the point where they joke that they hope it doesn’t happen again early on in the book. I’m tired of plots being reused and I hated the having a baby at someone else’s wedding story the first time. I swear the only reason I keep reading these books and this author is because I like the writing style and it always manages to pull me in and then I’m like 40% in and complaining the rest of the book that it’s too similar to previous books and these books satisfy my desire to read a protector romance where the fmc isn’t a weak doormat needing a man. In these books the men are the ones that need to protect the women out of love.
The blurb says the book is about two people who love each other but hate each other when in fact they get over that for the most part early on and the majority of the book is about Lauren’s ex being a drug dealer and threatening them. I’m writing my thoughts with 15% left I can guarantee how this will end.

Like every other one of these books I’ve been roped into reading the next one based on the chapter at the end of the next characters.

How does she do it?

I do not know how Riley Edwards can write a tortured hero, a strong heroine, a chemistry of epic proportions and still cram the story full of emotion and heart. And of course, the action is never a let down.

I know the formula can get old quickly, but I have not read a book by Riley yet that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. Tarnished is no different. While Logan has the most character growth in dealing with his fears and feelings of unworthiness, Lauren also fights to find her own authenticity. Once Logan is able to accept and deal with his past, he steps up to be what Lauren needs..and more.

I do love the family element of these books. Tarnished reminded me again that the love of a family, whether one you choose or the one you were born in, has the power to heal.

In the same breath, even having read the other series, it does become difficult to keep track of who is who, married and family...and you know they are work g on the 3rd generation now too!

Tarnished (Triple Canopy #4) by Riley Edwards

So much angst, drama, passion and strong bonds with a band of brothers of Triple Canopy who are more than friends they are brothers. Throw in a sexy receptionist, Lauren Saunders and Logan Haines world and everything he made himself believe will turn his world upside down, These two have been attracted to each other from the beginning but Logan pushes Lauren away due to his past. Logan does not believe in love he only knew pain, abuse and guilt. Logan plays hard with no attachments as he will never allow love to enter his life. Lauren has always had an attraction towards Logan and when he pushed her away, her attitude towards him was full of spunk and fights in order to protect her heart. These two will battle back and forth between sass and insults. When Logan and his team are trying to find a drug dealer known as Lucky they come upon Guy, Lauren's boyfriend who is using drugs and associating with prostitutes. Knowing Lauren needs to know, he decides to be the one to tell her as she hates him already. What transpires next when he informs Lauren will be raw and explosive as these two once again will attack each other even when he is told to leave, Logan will not give up on her. These two will begin a cat and mouse game where Logan is hoping to get close to her and Lauren ignores him at work. When Lauren tries to make Logan jealous while out with the women of the men of TC, Logan no longer can take her rejection and does the one thing he thought he would never do, makes his move traps her in the bathroom with one kiss, these two go all in with all the desire they tried to suppress. Once Logan tells Lauren he will be spending the night with her her everything will change for the both of them. The passion and sexual desire that comes out between them is over the top steamy and explosive. What will start out as sex only will have Logan changing each time he is with her. When they are both attacked by unknown men and finds out that Guy was harassing Lauren, he tells her she will be living with him at his home that he bought with her in mind. Finally Logan realizes he loves Lauren and finally opens up to her about his past, his father, mother and sisters and confesses what his father did to him. Love the close bond Logan has with his family especially with his over the top big brother attitude. Now Lauren with all of the love she has for Logan along with his friends has to make him see that he is not his father who beats and abuses women and is capable of finding love. Lauren is able to make Logan see that he is more than what he perceives himself to be, he is loyal, brave and loves with his whole heart. Finally with Lauren's love he accepts that he is not his father and looks past the pain and suffering and begins a relationship with Lauren that is hard, fast and full of passion as Logan learns that love is real as he will take what is his and will have Lauren in his life. But soon Lauren will be in danger, her ex is not who he says he is, the men of the TC finally put all the pieces together that the person Lucky that they are looking for is nothing but a name. When Lauren ends up missing, Logan becomes out of control as he knows who has her, now Logan and his brothers are racing against time to get to Lauren in time with a daring, dramatic rescue. Now these two soulmates will have it all a future full love and family. Once again Riley Edwards has her readers become engrossed with her storyline as she brings her characters to life with this emotional love story. Now we have to wait for Matt's story and find out what happens when he approaches the one woman who he believed was off limits and does the unthinkable.

Logan and Lauren have been dancing around each other in previous books of the series so it's about time they got their story. Logan doesn't know what love is, true love, as what he saw growing up was not it. He believes he has the incapability to love. Lauren loves too easily and has been attracted to Logan from day 1. She decides it is time to move on and that decision results in Logan now having to protect her. I love how these two characters finally come to terms with their feelings and the heat is off the charts. Riley Edwards characters are always a joy to watch develop and wish you could be part of their lives on a daily basis in real life (minus the kidnapping part).

This was another great addition to this series. I LOVED Logan's sisters. Watching Logan and Lauren navigate love was great too. Interesting twists that I didn't see coming.

I enjoyed the book, but I didn't connect with this one as much as I did with the others. I think that is just because I love Basket so much and any connection with him makes me happy. This series is VERY much like The Rock Chicks by Kristen Ashley.

Holy hotness! Tarnished is another great addition to the Triple Canopy family! Let me start by saying that if you haven't read any of the other books in the series, Tarnished stands alone however since this is a series there are many interconnecting characters so you will definitely want to go back and revisit the rest of them. Logan and Lauren have been dancing around each other since the moment they met a year ago. Lauren loves her job at Triple Canopy and everyone loves her as well. Logan has longed to love her from the moment that they met however this man has a boatload of baggage that he needs to deal with before he can give Lauren the life that everyone knows she deserves. Since Logan is dragging his feet about that Lauren is forced to move on with her life and date and that is what finally gets Logan's attention. I absolutely hate when readers give away the story so I will say that Logan and Lauren's journey is emotionally charged and full of action and suspense. It is the kind of story that Riley Edwards fans will love and want more of. Logan's family was a great addition to the TC cast of characters and I can't wait to read more about them!

Logan has loved Lauren from a far but having a crappy childhood and your own father trying to kill you would leave anyone scared. Lauren has loved logan since the day she met him however no amount of throwing herself at him gets her anywhere. So she decides to date other only to find out he's grade a creepy. Logan finally gets his butt in gear and plans to hook up with Lauren but he has the lines blurred. For someone who's just hooking up he can't help but use her as his peace. A beacon when he's lost especially when his family (mom and twin sisters) come into town so that he can meet the new man in his mom life.
This book was everything you expect from the Triple Canopy collection. The love scenes are hot, the over protective male on 10 is all over this story. You will love this page turner.

First things first... I finished this one... unlike the previous one that I just couldn't get into.

I'm not sure what it is about this series, but as it has progressed the 'voice' sounds different to other Riley Edwards' books... I don't feel the same urgent need to finish the book as I had with others.

My main interest was in Lauren. Since we first met her I was looking forward to her HEA. I just didn't particularly like Logan. For a 38 year old man, I found him rather immature and just plain annoying. I think that I wanted more of the plot... it felt like it had been shoved way to the back of the cupboard with no real intent to develop it.

I think I would've had a little more respect for Lauren if she had stuck to her original proposition for even just a little bit longer. The whole trope of lust/love from near yet so far to be fulfilled and realised within days of the man finally 'manning up'? Boring. Specifically the 'manning up' part... I get that this is all about 'alpha' men... but, it doesn't resonate for me. I think that these later entries in the series have the same sort of vibe as the 'Black Ops' series... which I wasn't too keen on.

Ah well, let's see what happens with Matt and Chelsea...

In this latest installment of Triple Canopy, we FINALLY get to see the sparks fly between operator Logan Haines and admin assistant, Lauren Saunders. They work up from a slow, sexy simmer to explosive & possessive like only Riley Edwards can do! Ladies, keep a fan & glass of wine nearby!

Long ago Logan resided himself to live a lonely, empty life where love had no place in the equation. He was simply too messed up after a whacked up childhood & seeing what was in him. Then he met her. Lauren Saunders - his version of the perfect woman all wrapped up in a sexy little package with some added sass. At least she would be perfect, if she could remove that four letter ‘l’ word from her vocabulary. She wants it all - the American dream complete with kids & a dog. He doesn’t feel capable of giving her anything more than a few good nights to keep as memories. Everything changes when Lauren’s taken and Logan will do anything to protect the woman who holds his heart.

I feel as though I say this with each new release, but this is my favorite of the Triple Canopy books. Lauren has been in all the books as the receptionist, but she comes into her own here, along with Logan, whose childhood has scarred him and made him a firm unbeliever in anything like love or permanence. It is an understatement to say that sparks fly between them; they are incendiary! As a reader, my heart broke for Lauren when the depths of the deception she experienced were revealed, and there is much joy in the way the Triple Canopy family come together under pressure. As always, the plot is fast paced, the characters are appealing, and there is a sense of coming home to close friends when you open one of Riley Edwards’ books. Do not start this if you need sleep; you won’t want to put it down.

Logan and Lauren😍

Wow, I’ve been waiting for Logan and Lauren’s story but I’ve been so caught up with ARCs and Betas I’ve only just now gotten to reading it…but it was worth the wait and the anticipation❣️

Logan has tried to stay away from Lauren as much as he can to the point that he’s driven her into a relationship with another man😳 Logan feels his past has tarnished his future and is unwilling to put someone he cares about through what his family was put through😢

Lauren has been in love with Logan for a while now, but he keeps pushing her away. In an attempt to get over him, she starts dating again…..that is until Logan comes to her with some news about what her boyfriend🤦‍♀️

That said, I loved this story and I really loved the hints of Logan’s sister Jackie and a possible connection with Echo. I’m also excited to see what happens with Matt and Chelsea next❤️

Updated for a re-read to get ready for Fractured:

Every time I read this book, I marvel at how much of a jerk Logan is in the beginning of the book. I always doubt he can be redeemed until he turns that corner and OMG… He simply slays me 😌

Original review:

Riley Edwards scripted the build up to Logan & Lauren’s book perfectly and seriously delivered when it was finally their turn. Downloaded this when I woke up & devoured it in one day. Triple Canopy is my favorite series by this author. Can’t wait for Matt & Chelsea next and hopefully Echo & Jackie after that!

I absolutely loved this book. Logan and Lauren were a long time coming but so worth the wait. This book was heartbreaking at times but the HEA made it worth it. This is my new favorite from Riley. I reread this on audio and it was even better! The narrators were phenomenal.

One of the best and one of the worst in series - read on KU

Firstly, don't start with this book. There are way too many characters and back stories to start here. This really is one of the best and one of the worst in this series. This series hasn't been my favorite by Ms. Edwards. I liked the Gold Team best, then the rest in that world, and then the ones in this world. One thing I dislike about the TC world is how often the FMC gets kidnapped. It's ridiculous. Also, the story is far more interesting than what the blurb suggests.

The steamy scenes in this book may be the hottest in the series. Someone complained there were too many scenes in this book and said there were more than usual. I didn't count, but I don't think there were more. If so, only 1 or 2 more. My only problem with them were they were mostly clustered toward the beginning. I much prefer the author save some for closer to the end of the book, when the couple has more deeply committed to one another. There is profanity and some people really do speak like this. You are warned. Please don't read the book knowing these things and then leave a bad review based on them.

I think I liked Logan better than some of this world's other MMCs. Lauren is portrayed as being a well loved member of the TC family and that Jasper treats her like another daughter. I don't remember seeing that in other books, but maybe I forgot. I liked Logan's family. He has twin sisters named Jackie and Jill. It looks like Jackie will be back for her own book with a character I don't remember being in previous books. Speaking of all the characters, we need a family tree at this point. Desperately. Most of the characters from the TC world were at least mentioned if they weren't in a scene.

The good - the interactions with Logan's family, the plot outside of their relationship, and the steamy scenes.

The bad... (very minor spoilers)

Logan, his sisters, and his mom were abused by his dad. His mother was able to get them out of the situation but he never let the situation leave him. 25 years after the end of the abuse (Logan is pushing 40) and he is still not over it. He is convinced he'll become his father. He still doesn't trust any men with his mom or sisters. Other than this being an over used back story, I have no problem with this. What I did have a problem with was they beat several dead horses talking about it. Way too much page space was given to the topic. Not that I expected him to heal a lifetime of pain over night, but repetitive conversations were too much.

There were some technical issues that bothered me. Ian, the man his mother is dating, owns a security company and wrote two of the programs the security TC uses is based on. Ian talks to the head of security at TC about the newest offerings, such as facial recognition for entry. They only installed the entry software at TC within the last couple of years and you know they would have chosen a system with every bell and whistle available. Obviously, facial recognition is not new in that time. There were more details like that. Also, Ian finds some blind spots in their security camera coverage. As a reminder, TC is a SECURITY company. Other people pay them for installing these type systems and it takes a new guy to find blind spots? These guys are supposed to be the best. It was a way to form a better connection between Ian and Logan, but better research could have helped Ms. Edwards come up with something more advanced than facial rec and blind spots.

There is also a point where they are searching for something and searching by air would have been the only way to find it in time but Ms. Edwards doesn't go in that direction. What she does instead would have failed.

I don't know if I just haven't paid as much attention in the past but the grammar in this book was somewhat of a mess. There was her usual occasional misuse of personal pronouns but there were also hoards of missing commas. Some of these missing commas made the sentences hard to understand. Tons of clauses were not separated out by commas. There were places where two complete sentences were separated by a comma instead of a period. There were other things that were just sloppy and places where writing things just a hint differently would have been more clear. It had the feel of being hastily written and released.

And then there was the epilogue. Logan does an action and about 10 sentences later, he says he would never do what he just did. Without giving it away, it was as stupid as if he had been eating an apple and 2 minutes later said he would never have a snack that close to dinner time, when he literally just had and it wasn't said in jest or with sarcasm. Had it not been in such a significant point of the story, it wouldn't have stick out quite as badly as it did as written. It took away from an important scene.

Logan's last romantic act was messed up. It was unbecoming of a book boyfriend. I enjoyed the book but it needed one more draft.

Tarnished is the fourth installment in the Triple Canopy series and is the workplace protector romance of Logan Haines and Lauren Saunders.
Logan is a former Navy SEAL who now works at Triple Canopy. He was taught from an early age that love hurt, fists, lies, guilt and blame all played a big part in his childhood. All he’d ever known was that love was pretend and a tool for manipulation, so he f**ked, he played, he had fun…end of. That is until he meets Lauren. Lauren is like no other woman he has ever met, the only downside was she wanted love, marriage, babies, and the white picket fence and after she made it clear she wanted it with Logan, and he successfully pushed her away. Now he must see Lauren every day at TC with Lauren being the receptionist and her having moved on with Guy Stevens, a man who rubs Logan up the wrong way and pushes him to his limit. Will Logan be able to work his way back into Lauren’s good books and her heart while also keeping her safe?
Lauren is the receptionist at Triple Canopy and has been besotted with Logan since the day he joined TC, but since Logan is averse to love and has pushed her away, she began dating what she thought was a good man, Guy Stevens. Only none of her friends, especially Logan liked him, and when Logan and the team follow a lead on a case, they find Guy with a 5K a night hooker snorting coke off her breasts while getting his d**k sucked. Lauren is embarrassed and angry, and Logan tries to soothe her, but she won’t hear it. They end up out for drinks and pool with the TC team and when she tries to make him jealous. Logan corners her in the bathroom and things get steamy. He follows her home and when she becomes self-conscious about her body, Logan reassures her that not only is she perfect but that he’s been obsessed with her for over twelve months. Will Lauren overcome her insecurities and enjoy a healthy relationship with a man who worships her mind, body, and soul?
Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright take Riley’s words from page to audio in the most fabulous way possible.
Connor’s portrayal of Logan had me captivated from start to finish. Connor captured the passionately protective alpha with his quick temper brought on by fear and vulnerability perfectly.
Mackenzie effortlessly showcased Lauren’s honesty, strength, and loving nature as well as her fiery passion in the best way.
Riley has done it again, she has a way of writing the most incredible heroes and heroines, broken souls that collide in incandescent desire.
If you love a workplace protector romance with a hero who overcomes insecurities and past hurt and trauma to claim his HEA with the woman he’s been pining over for a long time, and a heroine who proves to be stronger than everyone thought she was, who fights for what she wants and finally gets the man she’s wanted since the first day she saw him, then Tarnished is the book for you.

I’m finding it harder and harder to write reviews. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because the books I’m reading are bad. It’s because they are so emotional. So gripping. I’m having a difficult time putting my thoughts about these books into words. Which is the case for Riley Edwards’ newest release Tarnished.

This is the fourth book in the Triple Canopy series and focuses on Logan Haines and Lauren Saunders. These two…the sparks have been flying between them through the last couple of books and it’s fantastic that we finally get their story. And what a story it is...

Logan lived through hell during his childhood and promised himself that he would never fall in love. Never subject someone to the pain that he could bring. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t see and want Triple Canopy’s receptionist. It just means that he must stay away from her. How hard could that be?

Lauren has had a crush on Logan since he first walked through the door of Triple Canopy. But try as she might, he’s rebuffed any and all advances from her. Well, she’s not going to wait around for someone who obviously doesn’t want her, much to the consternation of Logan. But when Logan comes to tell her about her cheating boyfriend, Lauren decides she’s had it with all men. She’s going to protect her heart if it’s the last thing she does. She can live with no-string relationships, can’t she?

As I mentioned, the chemistry between these two characters is off the charts. Watching them navigate the turbulent waters of their rocky relationship is mesmerizing. And experiencing it all through the Triple Canopy “family” is hysterical. Riley Edwards always delivers with her stories. You get the emotions, the angst, and the comedy all wrapped up in literary greatness. You feel the connection not only between the characters on the page but that connection to you, the reader, as well. As always, I am amazed at every single story that Riley has written. She does not shy away from the big emotions. She embraces them. As a reviewer, I always want to convey why another reader should pick up this book. Don’t pick this book up solely based on my review. Pick it up because of the exceptional writing. Pick it up because of the fantastic characters. Pick it up to get lost in an amazing book. But most of all…
JUST. PICK. IT. UP.

This is book 4 in the Triple Canopy series and while it could be read as a standalone-I highly recommend reading the previous books before this one. Of course, I also recommend reading all of the connecting books as well just because they are so good and this book also has some of those characters in it as well. In this one we get Logan and Lauren's story. Logan is a born protector but he is also a man who learned at a young age that love hurts and that it wasn't real. And because of his past, he knew he didn't want anything to do with love or relationships. Lauren knew what she wanted, she just hadn't found it. She had finally given up on having anything come of her attraction to Logan. But it also pushed her into thinking that love maybe wasn't meant for her. Until she is suddenly in danger. And then she is thrown with Logan as her protector, and they both realize how much they truly care about each other. But when she goes missing, can he find her before the worst happens?

I absolutely loved this story! Now mind you, I have been hooked on this author's books since I read my first one by her. But there is just something about this series and the previous ones that it offshoots from. Logan hooked me in from the start with wanting to know not only what made him tick but exactly what forced him to be the way he is. And when I found out the reason-my heart broke for him. Lauren is this sweet, sassy woman who has always tried to get the things that she wants out of life. Even when she gets her feelings hurt, she still puts that effort in. Until she thinks that it isn't for her. Her and Logan together though? They are perfect for each other! Not only do they compliment each other in ways I wasn't expecting but they also have this chemistry that is off the charts. And once they actually learn to talk to each other, it is amazing! I loved it from start to finish!! I have to say that I can't wait for more in this series but I also wouldn't mind some books for Logan's sister's!!

Every Riley Edwards hero is my favorite, there’s no denying it. With each book, she seems to just crank that hot alpha meter up just a notch or two more. But Logan probably breaks my heart more so than anyone else (okay, Brady is a very close second). This man has spent his life believing that love is a myth. Or at the very least, not for him. Even as friend after friend finds their soul mate, he knows in his heart that there isn’t a woman for him.
Then there’s Lauren. Sweet, shy Lauren, the receptionist at Triple Canopy, who has spent the last year drooling and lusting after Logan. And while he wants her, he thinks she deserves more. And she knows she does deserve more than a man who wants her but stays away. So she’ll try to find someone else.
And when that puts her in danger, who steps up to keep her safe? Yup, you guessed it. But now Lauren is willing to take what she can get, because she’s been burned and is done looking for that forever. Why not hook up with Logan and then walk away. Yeah, that works all the time in romance, doesn’t it.
But in addition to that build up of chemistry, there is tons of intrigue and danger that builds with every turn of the page. If that’s not enough, Logan gets some company in the middle of all the drama, and they bring even more to the table.
Logan and Lauren are a wild, complicated and hot as hades ride that will thrill new and established fans of the Triple Canopy/707 Universe series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but after meeting this awesome cast of secondary characters…many of whom are featured in previous books, I predict you’ll be binge reading any you missed out on the first time.
I just wish I could give this book, and this couple, more than 5 stars!

I really wanted to love this book but unfortunately was let down. It took me so long to read this book because I kept putting it down and just couldn't put up with the behavior and child-like mindset of Logan and Lauren's bitchy attitude. I kept plugging along hoping that there would be a turning point where my viewpoints would change, and they kind of did, but I even felt like the ending with Lauren getting kidnapped was rushed and I felt like it was kind of unfinished and anticlimactic after the whole book was building up (pretty well) to figure out who the bad guy is.

Logan was pretty much a douche the first half of the book... maybe even 3/4 of the book until he realizes that he loves Lauren. I think it was truly due to fear, but I think it was portrayed in the wrong way due to his upbringing that is actually pretty logical for him to not want to be in a relationship after going through what he went through. But there were many times he was a dick for no reason, and I had to remind myself, that he's suppose to be 38 years old, which also pissed me off that the author made a grown ass adult suck a jerk who acted like a teenager.

Lauren was kind of transparent for me also. I felt her feelings for Logan when he wanted nothing to do with her romantically but when she started 'settling' that's when it kind of started ticking me off. I think since he was such a jerk to her at times in the book, the author made it seem like she was standing her ground but it came off as really whiney and bitchy which was unfortunate.

The bad guy was super obvious. Usually Riley Edwards knocks it out of the park for me but unfortunately this book fell short.

Ahhhh the sweet and bada$$ Riley Edwards hero...there's nothing like them. Totally alpha, demanding, overly protective, busting with muscles and brains, bossy and tender in the bedroom, and completely devoted once they get their heads out of their a$$es. Logan Haines is no exception and he breaks your heart with his story. As tragic as Brady's, Logan carries a lot of burdens he doesn't need to and it isn't until he's with Lauren that he truly sees what he's missing. He also needs to let go of his past so his mom can move on. One of the best parts of this book is the introduction of Ian (Logan's mom's boyfriend) who brings tears to your eyes with his scenes of talking to Logan. He also brings new software to TC so I hope to see more of him, Dee (Logan's mom), and Jackie (one of Logan's sisters).

A lot went on in this novel and it was all good and I pray means it's going to be further expansion of the 707/Next Generation/TC universe. Not to mention we need to know what happens with Echo and Jackie. And let's not forget Shiloh's other two brothers, River and Phoenix. There's just so much happening and all the characters we meet and fall for play integral parts and they show up just when you need them.

Lauren is sassy and loves Logan with her whole heart--his timing on letting her know things is crap but they are a delight to get to know and love as they begin their life together at TC. I only fall more in love with all of Riley's characters, and every time I think it can't get any better she proves me wrong. My only hope is that she keeps writing them.

Tarnished was an awesome read. We have watched Logan and Lauren dance around ea8ich other in the last couple of books. Logan is so afraid that he could be too much like his dad to be able to love a woman without the worry of what his anger could do.
Lauren is sweet and headstrong with lots of sass and always stands her ground. She doesn't see why Logan is afraid of Love, but Logan hasn't shared his childhood with her either.
Logan had a lot to deal with as a kid growing up and is a natural protector but is always afraid his anger could cause him to hurt someone he loves. He doesn't really believe in love due to seeing how his father treated his mom and his sisters when they were young. He loves fiercely.
He doesn't think he's worthy of Lauren and worries about his sisters and his mom. HIs mom brings her new boyfriend for Logan to meet. Logan begs Lauren to be the buffer and keep him in line. She threatens to get a shock collar from the local pet store so she can “Zap” him when he being a pain.. She tells him Zap, Zap a couple of times.. These moments are my favorites in the book.. Danger is lurking and it takes the TC group a minute to figure out who the bad guy is.
We catch up with all the members of Triple Canopy as well as the Uncles that started it. There is lots of excitement, tears. Wedding and a birth. Such a great story about overcoming where you came from to what you can be. Love this series.

Logan and Lauren - perfectly swoony excitement

This military romance has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous heart stopping action, family moments, painful pasts, and even some chuckles. Logan works at Triple Canopy and is a former SEAL who believes a wife and child beater lives inside him waiting to be unleashed. So he is determined never to have a white picket fence life to avoid becoming the monster. Lauren has worked at Triple Canopy with Logan for a year. She has not made her attraction a secret but Logan has rebuffed her every time she asked for more. But eventually all that chemistry had to explode. The dance between Logan and Lauren was so beautifully choreographed that the emotions it evoked in the reader were a natural extension of the words on the page. On their way to their HEA, Logan has to come to terms with the darkness in his past in order to embrace a beautiful life together. This was at its core a heart warming story about love, loss, family, and damaged but not broken people. Riley Edwards is a master at balancing a story of romance, danger, and personal growth. And while most of us will never be in the dangerous situations the main characters are a part of, the author nevertheless makes who they are as people so relatable and real that it is easy to fall in love with them. I cannot wait to hear what happens next for the folks at Triple Canopy.

Logan and Lauren

The is was a great addition to this series. Once again, we’re faced with a main character who has overcome the adversity of a terrible childhood and the person who was meant to be the reason they realized their past doesn’t define them.

Logan was so afraid of becoming like his father he almost lost the best thing that ever walked into his life. He fell instantly for Lauren but pushed her away because he didn’t want to risk hurting her. I honestly didn’t like Logan for half this book. He was mean and rude and said things he didn’t mean, but he was scared. He knew he loved Lauren and on top of that his mom and sisters came to visit with her new boyfriend. Logan had a lot to work through and without Lauren, his family, his brothers at Triple Canopy and even his mother’s new boyfriend, he never would have seen the light.

Lauren also fell for Logan instantly. But she had all but given up on him. When her life is endangered, Logan finally realizes what he has. Lauren is blown away by the change in Logan and doesn’t trust it at first but he works to prove he’s the man for Lauren.

Although this book did have some suspense, it revolved more around Logan overcoming his past. His relationship with Lauren evolved quickly but it really worked for the plot. This book had both serious, thought provoking moments and moments that made me laugh out loud. It was a good mix of heat, romance, humor and danger.

Once again this author brings out all the feels and takes you on an emotional roller coaster of a ride. Logan doesn’t believe in love, his past hasn’t allowed him to move forward for years and years…..until Lauren, Triple Canopy’s receptionist. Lauren has been in love with Logan since he started at TC, and is heartbroken that the man doesn’t believe in love and will never love her. After her latest break up, she decides to accept Logan’s way of thinking…love is not for her anymore and decides to play Logan’s game. But there is someone out for TC and Lauren is caught in the middle of a dangerous op….will Logan come to his senses and realize it’s Lauren he loves before it’s too late.
HOLY HANNAH….HOLY SMOKES….OH BOY….make sure you have tissues on hand throughout this read, and a glass of ice to cool down after the steamy scenes. These two were on fire and so perfect for each other, their banter, their sparks, their emotional turmoil and the realization that they were one….AMAZING!!
Once again it’s another hit out of the ball park with steam, emotions, heartbreak, heartache, suspense and amazing characters that come together in the face of danger and protect one another with a fierceness that will leave you breathless.

Book 4 of Triple Canopy, finally we get to see Logan Haines and Lauren fight the sparks that fly between each other. Connor Crais and MacKenzie Cartwight bring these characters to life in a way no other narrator can do. They make you believe you are truly hearing Lauren and Logan through their voices! Great duo on this series!

Logan doesn’t believe in love and will never fall in love with anyone! But Lauren, she makes him wobble on the boundary lines he has drawn and makes him want to break all of his rules. He finds himself wanting all of these things that he has never wanted in his life before her!
Lauren has loved Logan since he came to work at TC but he never gave her a second look, time ot move on! But she can’t and after a foul relationship, she has come to agree with Logan, love is not real! Lauren wants to be strictly friends with benefits, minus the friends and Logan can’t do that, he wants so much more with her, he wants everything and Lauren knows deep down that he will break her heart! But there is something about Lauren, she makes him want to believe he is truly a good man but can he trust himself after all these years?
Everything changes when Lauren’s taken and Logan will do anything to protect the woman who holds his heart and shown him what it is like to truly fall in love.
