Short quick Informative read about how ADHD affects girls differently from boys. Issues that come along with it Parenting tips, ideas and touches on medication. This doesn’t dive deep into meds if that’s what you are or aren’t looking for. I already knew 90% of what was written in this book but there little things here and there that I didn’t think of… The last sentence stuck with me
“A diagnosis of ADHD isn’t life sentence, it’s a badge that your daughter will wear- one that takes courage & will build her character”
Awaiting a diagnosis of ADHD for a girl is a challenge especially when you know the answer already. This book is a little overwhelming in parts as it is a very honest about what to expect and strategies that can be used. It acknowledges the individual in each girl and ways to support. Superb, this book will do a share around the family.
As a counselor, this will absolutely be THE book I recommend to the parents of my (biological) female clients with ADHD. It gives a detailed explanation of the signs of ADHD, and provides vignettes so the descriptions are easily understood. Additionally, numerous strategies that parents can utilize are given in each chapter. Bonus - this book is so concise, it’s less than a hundred pages!
This was a great book to start a parent off. I was hoping there would more information and techniques on improving executive function weaknesses. This book touches on a few techniques or it guides you to seek out other resources.
this is very, very basic. Maybe if you have just received the diagnosis of ADHD, it would be helpful but otherwise, not as helpful as other books available.
Very helpful book to give ideas that can be tried and to reinforce things you may already be doing. It really helped me gain insight for not only my daughter but ADHD overall.
