A wolf shifter guardian. A witch bent on revenge. When their fates collide, sparks fly…
When my best friend was murdered, I swore vengeance. But before I could carry out my plan, her death was blamed on me.
Now, I’m an inmate at one of the notorious supernatural prisons, where my magic is repressed, with nothing but my instincts to keep me alive.
Then, there’s Eric.
A wolf shifter with his own secrets to keep. He’s been assigned to guard me. But now with his lingering glances & soft touches I’m afraid my heart is just as at stake as my safety.
I’m determined to get out. And to clear my name. Because the killer was sent by someone who is more powerful than we’ve imagined and my family, and our way of life, are in danger.
My name is Cordelia Keller, inmate number 483285, and I’ve got an escape plan.
Witch Condemned is the first book in a thrilling upper YA paranormal romance series by USA Today bestselling author Valia Lind that is full of twists and turns, and one heart stopping adventure!

Inmate number 483285, or as she likes to call herself Cordelia “Cordy” Keller, has been convicted for the murder of her best friend. Of course, she is innocent. All she has to do is follow through on her plan to escape so she can find the true murderer and enact her revenge.
That is until she throws a couple punches at a fellow inmate and ends up in isolation. Granted the irresistible warden assigned to her is an added perk, but it does put a damper on her plan, or so she thought. When he helps her escape, the attraction is not the only thing that gets heated.
Instantaneously become captivated by magic, adventure, mystery and a hint of romance in Valia Lind’s, Witch Condemned. A brilliant display, Valia skillfully articulates a story that grabs hold and does not let go, even after the last word of the final page.
Include a lack of profanity, sexual content, and a minimal amount of spelling and grammatical errors and you have a book that is appropriate for all to enjoy. Without a doubt, a rating of 5 out of 5 stars is awarded.
Given the series is called Blackwood Supernatural Prison, some readers may be affected by some of the following actions: false imprisonment, hand to hand combat, isolation, inmate number tattooed on arm, murder, betrayal, fugitive, blood, and shattered bones.
A pronounced start to The Blackwood Supernatural Prison Series, Witch Condemned, leaves readers wanting more, especially given the mind-blowing cliffhanger.
Thank you to #WitchCondemned, #BlackwoodSupernaturalPrisonSeries, and #ValiaLind, for the opportunity to read this book and give my honest review.
I picked this up because I loved the premise, the cover, all of it screamed out to be that it’d be an amazing read, and from the first page, I wasn’t disappointed. Fast paced, and packed full of delightful world-building, it drew me in and I ended up finishing it in one sitting, and wow that ending almost killed me!! I adore Lind’s way of weaving together plot, characters and everything else in between. The book was a quick read for me, but one I very much enjoyed! Overall, will be reading more in this series and following this author! Highly recommended!
Cordelia is in prison for waiting to break out to get revenge for her friends death. No one wanted to listen to her, pinned everything on her. Cordelia is trying to stay strong in prison by keeping focused. When she was pushed, she is isolated. She is given a special guard, a wolf shifter. She feels a strange pull to him, she learns is name. This shifter will get her out of prison. Together with help for others, they will start to track what is really going on and how it relates to her. Cordelia will have a lot a information thrown at her. Then Cordelia's world will really be rocked when she sees some one she thought she never would again. The way this book ended was so good. I am not trying to give out any spoilers. I recommend reading this book.
This book is a great ride to go on. The book is fast paced, action packed with the promise of romance. As the lead character Cordelia goes on this journey. I am really looking forward to more of this series, what see what is going to happen with Cordelia and everyone else.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This was not at all what I was expecting, but I don't mean that in a bad way at all. I was anticipating another version of the supernatural academy story, but that was not this. Instead we meet Cordelia after she is already imprisoned in a dangerous supernatural prison for a crime she did not commit. The story was about isolation and despair, with only a tiny silver lining that came in the form of the stoic werewolf guard (that I loved).
Next thing I know, the story transitioned into a different kind of story, full of action and danger, all kinds of magical encounters, a mystery, and just a smidge of a maybe romance (that I am hardcore rooting for!). The story is just getting started and the ending left me with just as many questions as I began with and I am so looking forward to the next book. I liked Cordelia and I loved Erik and the supernatural world the author created was different and complex I can't wait to see more.
Witch Condemned was engaging and fast paced, a quick read that kept me turning the pages until I reached the end. This is the perfect next read for anyone who likes paranormal mysteries, action and all kind of magical antics.
This book was not what I was expecting.. I honestly wasn’t expecting to like the story so much.
It was great, the story line is super intriguing, fun, suspenseful and still holds sad moments that the reader can connect with. I’m super mad where it finished but also super surprised at it. I’m mad because it’s a major cliffhanger, not because it was unsatisfactory. It definitely wasn’t! I need to read the next one. I enjoyed the characters, the main character Cordelia is super interesting and badass.
The reason I had to make it with 3 stars out of 5 is because the book and writing itself wasn’t that polished. Wanting to become an editor has made me very technical but I’m always fair to let the occasional spelling mistake or missing word slide. Although they were too many mistakes and I just couldn’t ignore them.
I hope the next book has a little more polish on the actual writing but as for the book as a whole, I really enjoyed it, read it in a day and can’t wait for the next one!

Magically realistic! That’s how I would classify this book. Witch Condemned has a naturally flowing plot. There aren’t holes in the story that will leave you confused. A lot of the time in a magic troupe book there are times when I’m reading and thinking this isn’t realistic even with magic. Valia Lind does a wonderful job of incorporating magic into the real world in an real way. I would say the character building could be a little better, specially in the beginning when you’re just starting out how to picture the characters. There are also a few spelling/word errors throughout the book. Personally I’m an middle school reading teacher so those types of things jump out at me automatically. I do however enjoy her use of higher level words throughout the book. The ending is a cliffhanger I did NOT see coming and now I have to wait a month to read the next book.
Crazy good! From start to finish this is intense and does a phenomenal job keeping you at the edge of your seat! Cordelia murder her best friend’s killer and now must face prison for life. With a little help from a mysterious shifter she is hoping she can escape. That is if she can stay alive, this prison is no joke! Magic, non-stop Action and a splash of humor that will make you swoon! 😃 Awesome characters and the twist at the end had me 😱😭😱. cant wait for the next book!! i read this with my kindle unlimited 💋#TeamEric#MitchIsfunnytho
Fantasy and supernatural has not been my first choice normally in books but Valia Lind has made me a convert! I love her writing and the stories pull me in immediately. I can't wait to start the 2nd book In the series to see how the foursome can get out of their predicament. Im excited to see how Alex and Cordelia's relationship develops.
choice o volume and has made me I knew follower with her grade writing.
Really quick read. Kind of short. It was enjoyable and has great potential. Wish it was a big longer so there would be more world building and more info on the characters. Will probably read the second one to see how it unfolds.
Also, could definitely use an editor and proof reading. There are def some grammatical errors.
the flow was very easy to follow. world building is fantastic! it is making me want more of this series. the FMC is very witty, sarcastic, and strong. I am enjoying the book more just reading about her alone... then you add a sexy shifter?! definitely going to keep reading this series and maybe more from this author!
I'm sadly disappointed! The storyline, the plot, the characters....it's fun and fascinating. But the spelling and misplaced words and grammar are bad. The editing is horrible! It made reading this book more of a school assignment than enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love prison books and fated mates. It seems this one is both which is even better. Not to mention the action and magic involved. Can't wait for the next one.
Wow what a fast and easy connection you gain as the characters of the story become acquainted and become a strong unit. You can almost feel the electricity between the witch and shifter as the story delves further into the plot. Nice start to a new series!
This book caught my attention in the first chapter. Always excitement always New magic always a good story. Can't wait to start the next book in this series
I requested this book from the author because I LOVED this author's author novel, but sadly this one didn't measure up for me. I felt that this book had so much potential but fell flat. The idea of a magical jail sounded so cool, but it ended up with a girl who needs a man to break her out and make her feel good about herself again. I really wanted a strong female protagonist like in "Remembering Magyk" but at every turn she couldn't stop thinking about the boy tag a long.
The "twist" wasn't very twisty. Hopefully the sequel lives up to my own hype. :)
