This is the 3rd book in the series and Cassie's story continues as she continues to learn about her magic. In this book Cassie and her best friend Penny decide to go on a short vacation. When Finn and Dean show up, Cassie is surprised. But she is drawn to Dean. When a body turns up and Dean knew the person, Cassie has to get involved to clear his name.
This book has a good mystery, interesting characters and some sweet sentiments. A little bit of everything for everyone. A good series.

I had a bad day today. I had a lot of work and yet no energy to get anything done. Luckily everyone at the office is off to celebrate Carnaval for 4 days while I hold the fort, so I can simply catch up with everything next week. However, this was the perfect day for a nice, relaxing cozy mystery. And luckily I had one last arc from BookSprout in the Crooked Windows Inn series left to read. So, after waiting until it was 5pm sharp, I grabbed the book and dove in.

Although I absolute loved the little town where we spent the last two books, I also really enjoyed the change of scenery in this book. Not so much because everything was said and done and told, but more because it was nice to see our little witch doing what she does best in an environment where people don't know her, or her aunt, or her friends. It felt like she could truly show what she had learned in the previous books in this one.

And I quite liked her character growth. Since the last book it's clear that our witch has grown more comfortable with magic, even though it will take time for her to gain the knowledge she should have had already. In this book she used the perfect mix of more traditional detective skills and a little touch of magic. However, the most useful tool she used in this book is her own brain and in that way this book also truly showed how smart she actually is.

This case might also be one of my favorites. Partly because Lind managed to once more make the case personal, even though it happened so far from home, but also because I like how all the pieces of the puzzle eventually clicked. And just like in the previous two books the case indirectly forced our heroine to grow and learn. This time it wasn't her magic or her skills being tested. This time she was confronted with emotions she was trying to ignore.

In the six months since Cassandra “Cassie” Duke has moved back to Monroe Cove, she has solved two murders. Ready for a break, Cassie and her best friend, Penny, go on a much-needed vacation. Upon arriving they quickly find Finn and his brother, Dean, in the neighboring bungalow. Much to Cassie’s surprise, she finds this was a sneaky plan Penny had made.

Determined to relax, Cassie does let the addition of the boys to their girls’ trip interfere with her plans. However, a phantom within her dreams has other ideas. When she finds the man haunting her dreams dead in the pool house and Dean becomes a suspect, she concedes to her usual sleuthing. Will she be able to find the true killer and salvage her vacation?

Valia Lind intrigues her readers with the third book of the Crooked Windows Inn Murder Mystery Series, Third Witch’s the Charm. Yet again, Valia demonstrates her efficiency as a writer with a limited amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Plus, her elimination of profanity and sexual content allows this novel to be appropriate for the young, the old, and everyone in between.

However, this storyline moves a little slower than Valia’s other books in the series. Although reasonably paced, the story dried up a little in the middle. In addition, the mystery seemed a little too easy to figure out. Luckily, the characters pulled it all together in the end, but 4 out of 5 stars is the rating.

As this is a murder mystery, there are several actions that may cause one distress. Please read with caution if affected by any of the following: dead body, amnesia, scandal, deceit, betrayal, disappearance of loved one, heart attack, hauntings, flooding, hurricane, gash on head, bleeding out, blackmailing, thievery, gun violence, incarceration, and murder.

Overall, Third Witch’s the Charm is a continuation of Valia’s murder mystery series in which the main character finds her true self. Nonetheless, be forewarned as an unexpected development will leave you longing the November 2022 release of the fourth book.

Thank you to #ThirdWitchsTheCharm, #CrookedWindowsInnMysterySeries, and #ValiaLind, and #SkazkaPress for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy and give my honest review.

This 3rd installment in the Crooked Window Inn series was just as smoothly written as the previous adventures. Cassie and Penny decide to head out of Monroe Cove to a resort location for some well needed R'N'R when again they are thrown into a mystery. Cassie is coming to terms with her life destiny with magic and trying to harness her new found sleuthing abilities while trying to reestablish old relationships she left behind . Watching Cassie come to terms with her life path and where she belongs is a nice progression throughout the series without having to read the previous ones before (but it is nice to read them all). This is a relaxing set of reads for the quiet afternoons with a cozy corner and a cup of your favorite drink to pass the time.

Such a fun book!

One thing I love about this series, is that self-deprecating but lighthearted tone, that drew me in. Present tense, which is not always favorite with me, is done well here. The bubbly vibe was just right for me, just what I needed. Fun! It feels young and fresh and exciting! Mayyybe, at times, bordering on a liiittle too light, but if you’re looking for a fun read, you’ve found it!

First, I want to thank the author/publisher for the opportunity to review Valia Lind's third installment of her Crooked Windows Inn Cozy Witch Mysteries, Third Witch's the Charm. I have been lucky enough to review both of the previous books in this series, so it was great to catch up with this quirky set of characters.

Cassandra “Cassie” Duke moved back home to Monroe Cove after a minor mishap with her magic made her lose a job. It's been six months and Cassie has been working hard, so her and Penny, her best friend, take off to a resort to spend the week. Well, unbeknownst to Cassie, this is half a set-up by Penny because Cassie's time away gets slightly distracted when Cassie's guy best friend, Finn, and her crush/nemesis, Dean, have the bungalow next door.

Of course, as with most cozy mysteries, there's suddenly a dead body and Cassie is on the case.

Review Part

OK, so this is the third installment of the series and probably my least favorite. If you know anything about cozy mysteries, you know that you have to suspend belief at the sheer number of bodies that are constantly dropping. It's just part of the charm of this genre. However, most series at least feel the need to wait awhile before feeling the need to take us out of the world the author is trying to create and put them into a new environment. As such, I feel like there was world building being completed that stopped happening in this book. Although integrating a new character who appears to have information Cassie needs for the long-term arc of the series, I think this character and that information could have been implemented in other ways without taking us to a resort.

With that said, I do think this is a good book. I had fun reading it and I read it quickly.

Everything about these books are fantastic. The world building, the relationships between all of the characters, all of the interactions, and especially the mysteries. These are not your run of the mill mysteries. You cannot figure out the murderer until the very end and I like that. I like that a lot actually.

These books make me think and put things together. Cassie is an absolute doll and I love that she is relatable. She has the same issues with self doubt as the rest of us. She is humble and also strong willed at the same time. Her determination is felt through out the entire book. I am happy to see things change between her and Dean. It really makes me want to read the next book. I cannot wait until it comes out next Spring! And her aunt, her friend Penny, and the kitty are some of my favorite characters in here as well. They all have such big personalities and they make me laugh. These books are so cheerful and I am always happy when I get to read one.

I love to visit Crooked Windows Inn whenever I can. I love the magical element to it and I love that Cassie is still learning. I love that we can see her advance and get better through out every book. Every book is absolutely charming and I look forward to each and every one. I absolutely recommend this book.

Big thanks to Valia Lind and BookSirens for the ability to read and review this book. All of my thoughts and opinions are honest and completely my own.

Cassie is an a much needed vacation from Monroe Cove. She's having a small problem with her magic and really needs this little vacation. On top of just needing a vacation, Cassie’s been having a recurring nightmare that has her on edge. It’s someone she has never seen before. Is this an omen or just her witchcraft acting up? Cassie and Penny are off to a resort to unplug and relax and they are not alone. Dean and Finn happen to be staying in the bungalow next to them! Small world or fix Up? Before she can sort out too many of her feelings about Dean, she finds a body, it’s the man from her dreams! It turns out Dean knows the murdered man, and they had strong words right before the time of death. Cassie, Finn, Penny, Dean and a sassy feline are on the case to make sure Dean is cleared. And unlike her normal experience with the Sheriff, the head detective in the case has embraced Cassie’s help but they’ve got to figure it out quickly! I LOVE THIS SERIES! This was a great mystery from start to finish. The Dean and Cassie story is taking an interesting turn and this fun story sets us up for another big adventure with Cassie! Thank you to Book Sirens for an ARC. I am not required to leave a review. I just love this author and series!!!

The third book in the Witchy Cozy Mysteries series didn’t disappoint! Cassie is starting to embrace her roles as an amateur detective and witch. A few things are coming a little easier for her, but she isn’t just blinking her eyes and getting everything right. The story reads quickly for me, and I’m happy to see that not everything happens fast for Cassie. She is still learning and growing. Cassie and Penny’s friendship is solid, and her other relationships are reconnecting nicely.

After the holiday season, I feel the need for a vacation myself, and reading the description of where Cassie and Penny went, I think I’d like to go there. The only problem I have is the surprise storms that occur. I know Penny mentioned some rain in the forecast, but when they’re on the boat going to the island, suddenly they have to turn around due to the storm rolling in faster than anticipated. I didn’t realize the rain was turning into a storm, so this surprised me a bit. Although, that may have been a glitch in the writing and not an actuality of the setting.

All in all, I am loving this series and can’t wait for the next book.

Third Witch's the Charm is the third installment in the Crooked Windows Inn Cozy Witch Mystery series by Valia Lind.

The protagonist, Cassie, finally goes on vacation with her friend. But a strange ghost man keeps coming to her for help before abruptly disappearing. Then he's found dead in the pool at the vacation resort.

I enjoyed the setting of this one, and I still enjoyed the characters. Cassie's relationship with the cat is fun, and it was certainly interesting to follow them through solving the case, but the book is under 200 pages. I felt like more could have happened.

One gimmick of this series is that they're fast-paced cozy mysteries, and there's nothing wrong with that. But for this particular novel, I felt like things happened too fast for the sake of moving the book along.

Overall, the writing and plot are well-done. However, this is it if you're looking for a quick and simple read.

This is my first time reading this book in the series and I will definitely have to get the first two so I have a backstory, but reading this as a standalone did not detract from a fun cozy murder mystery with some really fun and very relatable characters including the kitty. When Cassie and her best friend, Penny decide to go on a vacation to get away from things that went on while settling back at home, things begin to happen. Things like Finn and Dean just happen to be on vacation in the bungalow next to them. And a strange man seems to be haunting Cassie's dreams only to be found dead. But when Dean who seemed to have known the dead man becomes the suspect, it is up to Cassie to solve the murder to save her friend, who she seems to care about from an unjust charge while keeping herself from becoming a target. This was a fast, fun book to read and you will be kept surprised until the very end. I received an ARC of the book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Cassie’s still figuring out her magic, her feelings, and now—her talking cat. He’s not exactly helpful, unless you count shedding and reminding her that she’s a clueless 24-year-old witch with memory gaps.
She heads off for a vacation with her best friend, hoping to escape her romantic confusion. But surprise! Her bestie invited the handyman heartthrob and his brother, and they're staying next door. Cue awkward tension and unresolved feelings.

Then a dead body turns up (because of course it does), a storm traps everyone at the resort, and Cassie’s maybe-boyfriend becomes a maybe-suspect. Naturally, she ends up solving the murder—with help from her cat and a detective who’s clearly decided that “you found it, you fix it” applies to crime scenes.

This book is cozy, funny, and full of magical chaos. If you love witchy mysteries with talking cats, romantic tension, and a heroine who stumbles into sleuthing like it’s her side hustle, this one’s for you.

Third Witch’s the Charm the third book in the Crooked Windows Inn Cozy Witch Mysteries series. The cozy mystery is delightful and filled with the paranormal. I love witch mysteries and Third Witch’s the Charm is great addition to the genre and to the series.

Cassie’s now been back in Monroe Cove for a few months. She’s started to settle in and acclimate to her surroundings. Not only that, but Cassie’s magic also appears to be behaving itself. Everything is going well, and Cassie and her bestie decide to take a small vacation. Death, it seems, has followed them. When Dean is accused, Cassie knows she must get involved.

Third Witch’s the Charm is a fun story and wonderful third book in the series. The author continues to build a world filled with likable characters, vivid imagery, and interesting side stories. The book isn’t just about the death of a citizen.

I really enjoyed this story. I haven't read the first two but I decided to read this one because they can be stand-alone. They really are cozy mysteries. There's not a lot of violence and Cassie is an amateur sluth.
She's a witch but it's not right in your face magic. It's some tricks she's picked up and she's learning to use it. I'm sure there's going to be more in future books but because of the way her magic is presented I didn't feel like I needed a massive explanation for it. There's also some romance added in. It was a nice break for me because I prefer books with a lot of action. I needed something a little more laid back.

Third Witch’s the Charm is the third book in the Crooked Windows Inn Cozy Witch Mystery series by Valia Lind.

Cassie and her best friend, Penny, decide to get away from Monroe Cove. The week before they leave, Cassie starts having dreams about a man wanting her help. She has no way to predict how that will end.

This is my favorite book so far. Cassie’s coming to terms with her past and magic. I really enjoy seeing her progression. I also like her interactions with Birdie, especially now that she can hear her. It was an interesting mystery and I was shocked at what Cassie learned at the end! I can’t wait for the next book.

This is the third book in this series. Cassie and her best friend Penny decide it is time for a vacation. What she doesn’t know is that Dean and Finn will be there too.

Someone at the resort ends up dead. Cassie gets to use her magic while she sleuths around looking for suspects. There are “shenanigans” and her interactions with the cat are hilarious.

Cassie is starting to make some progress with Dean. It is really sweet to see how much they are in love with each other and have Cassie accept it.

The ending was great and surprising. It leaves you wanting to read the next book to find out what happened in the past. I look forward to reading the next book.

This is the third book in this enjoyable series. Cassie is back, along with a nice cast of characters ( and a talking cat! ). Add in a budding romance, a murder and a small amount of witchcraft, and you have yourself a nice cozy read. Having read the previous two books in this series, I was hoping that Cassie‘s character would develop and I wasn’t disappointed. There is a well planned plot with the murderer not being too easy to figure out. I love the dynamic between Cassie and Birdie, and also with Dean, and then we get a hint of what may be coming in the next book. Can’t wait.

Thanks to BookSirens and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Book 3 in the series occurs six months after Cassie returns home. This story, however, takes us out of Monroe Cove for some time off at a vacation resort. I like how Cassie and Penny are filling out, character-wise. Cassie is coming to terms with her magic and missing memories and Penny is there to help her every step of the way. When an unexpected pair appear at the resort there is definite romance in the air as well as a murder mystery. Fun story with a bit of a Ohhhhhh at the end.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion of the tale.

Cassie and Penny decide they are going to take a little vacation and get away from everything including magic and murder. OR so they thought. It seems Finn and Dean also show up at the resort they are staying at. They are barely there a day when, yup, you guessed it, Cassie finds a dead body!!!

Follow Cassie, Birdie, and the rest of the crew as they work to find out 'who done it'. Cassie is finding her way with her magic and maybe someone that might know something about her mom's disappearance.

Third Witch’s The Charm is a cozy mystery with a bit of supernatural sparkle thrown in to create a cute story that I enjoyed reading and recommend to anyone into either genre paranormal or cozy mystery.

I found the book to be a fun easy read with only a few minor typos, a consistent plot, and good story line and I read a lot of cozy mysteries.

I’d never read anything by this author before this book, but I am interested in checking out more of her work. She is a pretty good author, and she developed the characters well. It kept me engaged and entertained.

The author provides a great recap of the first two books, allowing it to be a standalone book within the series while progressing Cassie's magic.

Yet again, Cassie finds herself at the heart of another crime and offers her assistance to help solve the mystery. Again, she is successful.

Her relationship with Dean continues - with the ups and downs of any budding romance.

The book was a quick and enjoyable read.

A thoroughly enjoyable, fun cozy mystery with a touch of magic. I love this series although they can be read as standalones. This one is set away from the Inn when Cassie and Penny take a well earned holiday, but of course nothing goes to plan when Cassie finds a body. A lovely light hearted story with a fast pace, great characters, witty dialogue and a superior feline. The only downside is the book ends and I have to wait for the next one. More please. I loved this book - it was the perfect take your mind off the world light-hearted mystery. I need to go and read the first couple now!

It was fun, and clever, and I enjoyed the combination of the supernatural with normal life.

It did feel at times like it needed a bit more fleshing out in places, but it was such a great read regardless.

Cassie and Penny have a girl's holiday planned - and Cassie has no idea that she is being set up until Dean and Finn turn up as well. Dean's brother works at the resort - and Cassie finds him dead. Will she be able to help the detective solve the murder? What makes the detective agree to allow her to help? Loved this story!

When Cassie and Penny decide to take a vacation to relax things don't go according to plan. Cassie finds a dead body and with the help of her friends they help the detective find who is guilty of murder. I love this series. You have a little magic with a familiar and great friends and a slightly wacky Aunt thrown in. It's always action and fun rolled all together and somehow works. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Delightful paranormal cozy mystery.

This is book 3 in the Crooked Windows Inn Cozy Witch Mysteries. Like books 2 and 3 it is very well written with lovely characters and lots of humour. Cassie is getting better and better at magic and sleuthing - helped by Birdie, of course.
I loved this book and highly recommend it.

I was able to read this book for free thanks to Book Sirens. I really enjoyed this book. I know it is part of a series, but I was totally able to read it as a stand alone. Between the mystery of who killed Arthur and the Frenemies to Lovers aspect between Cassie and Dean, this quick read was so enjoyable. I downloaded a while back, but actually took less that a day to read. I definitely recommend this one!
