The Greene Family #9

My Brother's Forbidden Friend

Rate this book
I’ve gone from crushing on my brother’s best friend to wanting to crush him.

Cameron Baker and I have a few things in common. The first being that we were both born and raised in our small Alaskan town. Second, is that we hide our feelings and keep our hearts closed off from anyone who could break them.

But hiding my feelings is harder to do with Cam than most. When I was five years old, grieving the loss of my mother, he showed me how big his heart is, and I’ve never forgotten.

He comes from the richest family in town. Cam’s bad boy gorgeous, flirts like he has a Doctorate in charm, and he’s my brother’s best friend. That last part is where it gets tricky and the sole reason we’ve never crossed the line.

Now, his parents have cut him off to force him to prove himself. I never thought he’d open a competing business to mine. So, I do what I do best, shove all my feelings aside and ready myself to crush him. Game on.

This story was a long time in the making, we have been teased with Cameron and Chevelle's story for a very, very LONG TIME! I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out, not only for Cam and Chevelle but for all of her siblings as well.

When Chevelle was five years old she went out back to the frozen lake to find her brothers, only the lake wasn't as frozen as she thought and being only five she really didn't know better, what she did know was that day was the day her mother died saving her and she has carried that guilt with her her entire life. Man that's hard to deal with, but no one else blamed her and it didn't matter because she blamed herself enough for all of them. Now she owns her own fishing charter boat and is fine with things just the way they are...until Cam moves in with her.

Cameron Baker is Fisher Greene's best friend and has been since they were very young, he's father owns the Marina and has been grooming him to take over the family business but when Cameron finds himself on the wrong side of the law his father cuts him off and he now doesn't have a place to live, well that is until Fisher says he can live with Chevelle until he works things out. HA if he only knew Cam was crushing on his little sister I don't think he'd be offering up her house as a refuge for him.

I loved Cam and Chevelle together and their story was definitely worth the wait. They have great chemistry together and they work well together. I loved that Cam was a total cinnamon roll and not an Alphahole, although he did have his moments...when they were needed.

This story also wraps up things nicely for her siblings as well. I am sad to see this family's time coming to an end, although there is a novella planned for the holidays this is the last full length book we will have of them. Ryland the youngest of this blended family will get his own story next year when Piper Rayne starts a new series with The Problem with Second Chances (Lake Starlight Book #1) and if you have read their Bailey's Series you're not going to want to miss this book because it's all about Calista Bailey and Rylan Greene.

I would recommend this book to those that enjoy Steamy New Adult Romances, Brothers Best Friend Romances, Large Family Romances, or Small Town Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

It’s hard to put into words just how fan-freaking-tastic this book was!! My Brother’s Forbidden Friend was the story I had been anxiously waiting for. Those nuggets Piper Rayne teased me with had me desperate for Cam and Chevelle. The final Greene sibling book has left me with the most bittersweet of feelings.

I loved Chevelle with her an unbeatable determination and her fierce spirit. She valued her independence and living her life just the way she wanted free of anyone’s opinion.
Cameron Baker, her brother’s best friend and thief of her heart, since before she even knew it what it meant to have it stolen. He comes off as this flirty playboy but really he’s a total sweetheart full of swoon and romantic gestures. I loved discovering just how deep his love really went for Chevelle.

I really enjoyed the growth you saw with Cam and Chevelle. Chevelle learned that it’s ok to ask for help and accepting help doesn’t take away from your independence. Cam becomes his own man doing what he actually has a passion for instead of dutifully following into the path expected of him. It was a beautiful thing to be a part of Chevelle’s journey of healing and seeing as she absolved herself of the guilt she held on for so long.
These two had that unspoken but fated kind of love. No matter who they dated, in the end they were meant for each other, even if they let hate and denial cloud their feelings for a while. It was the sweetest thing how Cam went old school. But, I loved his adamancy that nothing wouldn’t change the route he was taking to winning Chevelle’s heart. Their hilarious banter, the sizzling hot chemistry, I couldn’t get enough of these two.

Piper Rayne took me through the gamut of emotions that left me in tears for more reasons than one. From the hysterical laugh out loud moments involving everyone’s favorite boisterous grandma duo and their fellow residents of Northern Lights Retirement Center to the touching sentimental ones. I just devoured their story with zest and fervor. Absolutely unputdownable! This darling Greene family has forever cemented itself deep within my heart as one of my favorite families.

This book was bittersweet for me being the end of the Greene's but I dare say they saved the best for last. Chevelle and Cam's story was everything I hoped for and more. Chevelle has been harboring so much guilt for the death of her mom all of her life that it made her into this independent woman who had to prove that she was so tough. Cam is perceived as the fun loving brothers best friend but there is so much more depth to his character.
Chevelle has always had a crush on Cam and we finally find out how much Cam like Chevelle. This book had me laughing at times then crying it totally pulled at my heartstrings. I loved seeing Cam show Chevelle it was ok to lean on someone and see Chevelle get the closure she needed. I didn't think I could love a family as much as the Bailey's but the Greene's have a permanent place in my heart now.

"All I wanted to do that day was shelter you from the pain and protect you. I'd never felt that for anyone before. That's when I knew you were someone important in my life."

What a brilliant and emotional end to a great series.

I’ve been so excited waiting for Cam & Chevelles story and it did not disappoint.
The build up of tension between these two spanned 9 books and it was great seeing it come to an explosive head 💥💥
I love how protective Cam is. He cares so much about Chevelle and after her hurt in the past he just wants her to be happy.
Chevelle is so tough, caring this weight on her shoulders but never collapsing, and then having her moment to finally have it lifted at the end genuinely brought tears to my eyes.

I can’t wait for the Christmas book set 12 years in the future cause I want one last glimpse at all the Greenes!

My Brother’s Forbidden Best Friend by the authors Piper Rayne was the ninth book in the Greene Family series.

I’ve taken a leave from formal reviews for a while, but a couple quick thoughts: I loved both characters: Cam and Chevelle. The story had been building for the entire series and a I loved how they completed them. It was heartfelt, humorous, involved the entire Greene clan but really focused on both Cam and Chevelle - their emotions, but also what was holding each of them back. Another successful book and series by the authors!

Oh well, I honestly wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did. We’ve seen glimpses of Chevelle and Cam throughout the series and although I love them I never paid them extra attention. Well, let me tell you they took my breath away! Cam is the most amazing cinnamon roll alpha, cocky, sexy, completely in love and with a passion to be his own person. Chevelle is strong and determined to not allow anyone how to live her life. She’s independent and I love that!
These two just work perfectly together. They chemistry is off the charts and the Greene family never disappoints with the shenanigans and the emotional moments. I truly loved this book! And gained a new book boyfriend in the process.
I’m thankful Piper and Rayne are giving us one more little glimpse into this amazing world this Christmas.

“If life has taught you anything, it’s that tragedy can strike when you least expect it, so cherish every good thing and live your life to the fullest, kids. Now, open the safe.”

What's better than a brother's best friend romance to finish an epic series? My Brother's Forbidden Friend by Piper Rayne is our last visit to Sunrise Bay for now and oh wow, this story packed loads of emotions and my heart is full to the brim. Chevelle and Cam had to go through the full range of heartaching feels and I couldn't be happier for this amazing couple.

Chevelle always had a unique connection with her brother Fisher's best friend Cam and Cam always hides what he really feels for her. But things happen in rapid succession. Cam is cut off by his father( also the owner of the marina)after he beats Chevelle's date for hurting her. He has to start a fishing boat business that is direct competition to Chevelle's. And he has to move in with her as he has no place to live. Things are about to explode. Can Cam get inside Chevelle's tightly locked heart?

I have been falling in love with Cam slowly over the other books featuring Chevelle's siblings. And I fall even harder here. He is widely known as the playboy, the badboy charmer, the rich arrogant man..but he is so much more. He is afraid to disappoint his father but his heart isn't into the cutthroat business. He is also brave enough to build something of his own. He is the nicest, sweetest, most protective and possession guy under the ahole exterior. Losing her mom in the accident that involved her has changed Chevelle forever and she is scared to love. Her guilt and fear are the biggest obstacle in Cam's way. Cam made her safe and she wanted to open up but something was holding her back. But hey, it's the Greenes. They always step in with their over abundance of love, unflinching support and good natured nosey ways. And they helped Cam and Chevelle to sort things out. It was a lot of fun and spice. Chevelle and Cam had this cute and adorable and flirty friendship that will give you butterflies in stomach. It was rough waters for a bit when they were fighting with their feels but everything worked out so beautifully at the end. The chemistry was sizzling hot. And the grandmothers will be there with all the entertainment.

PS GUYS GUYS GUYS CALISTA AND RYLAN ARE COMING SOOOOOON!!!

i’ve been waiting for cam and chevelle!!!!!! the tension was high all throughout the other books whenever they make a cameo together, everyone knows that they’ll end up together, and they finally did! i love the whole greene family as well as meeting the some of the baileys once more (it’s to hype up callista and rylan’s story).

chevelle has always felt that her mother’s death was due to her fault. she was the one who wanted to play in the lake that broke apart. she was saved while her mother passed away. while everyone has been telling her it’s an accident but there’s too much “what ifs” for chevelle. as she deals with the guilt, chevelle’s crush on her brother’s best friend is slowly turning into love. one thing she’s certain: he isn’t interested. however, we know that cam is. since chevelle is his best friend’s sister, cam knew that she’s forbidden. feelings grow as cam deal with his father’s expectation of him taking over the family business. this story was fun, entertaining, and spicy. while the grandmother gang didn’t appear that much, you know they’re invested in this pairing as the others.

Review:My Brother's Forbidden Friend by Piper Rayne. The Greene Family Book 9.
⚓️
I can’t believe this is the last full novel in the Greene family series. Fortunately, there’s still a novella to wrap up everything for all the couples and Rylan Greene and Calista Bailey story will kick off their own series. But I’m already feeling the loss of this incredible family. And Piper Rayne ended on a super high note, because this Cam’s and Chevelle’s story is perfect.

What a holler coaster of emotions this great couple brought to me. I laughed so hard, tear up during some scenes, fanned myself over others and full ugly cried over that amazing emotional scene toward the end or that epilogue. It was the perfect balance, such as this couple. Their story has been told little by little since the first book in this series and now they are face to face with their big love.

I had lots of fun with their bickering but the utter respect and caring they have for each other. My heart broke over Chevelle and her grieve and guilty towards her mom’s death and how for Cam that proved that money sometimes interfere on love and how the Greenes were more of a family to him than his own.

They had each other to heal all wounds and soothe any pain and they end up stronger in the end. Even better, they’re chemistry! They were great together, from her independence and his everything (I’m super in love with Cam!), to his Five Seas… swoon hard!

I highly recommend this book, actually the whole series is 100% must read for any romance lovers.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Chevelle got the exact story that she deserved. I've been waiting on her story for so long, the tragedy in her life was one that no little girl should have to shoulder. But she felt guilty from the age of 5 and the man that was always ment for her was there on that swing just days after the tragedy happened.

Cam was always there for her, even when he annoys the life out of Chevelle, he was there for her. He was always part of the family as Fisher friend and when he finally stood up for her and lost everything, things change. But that's the fun in reading this story. Now that's more than what I think I should say just know it's a full of fun and banter kind of story, that had me laughing but also I shed way too many tears.

This book and series is a huge recommend from me. I can honestly say I've loved every story. There are a couple of stories I hope we will get before the Greene's sign off. But even if i ended here, it's been enough.

Another great read by Piper Rayne, I loved My Brother's Forbidden friend!

I loved Chevelle and Cam, they were likable, passionate characters that touched my heart with their story. These two were perfect for each other, they had great banter, a deep friendship which at times anyone would think they hated each other but it was all done from love.

I've enjoyed every couple/book from the Greene Family series, and Chevelle and Cam's story was the perfect couple to complete this series.

Looking forward to the next love adventure Piper Rayne is going to send us on :)

Brothers best friend is my all time favorite tropes, and this was also my first time reading this author, so I was really excited. But, the delivery just wasn't one that I was expecting. I didn't really like our heroine (though I definitely emphasized with her, especially a certain situation) but I just wanted some more longing, more feeling, more sparks, just more.

I did really like Cams growth during the book though, and he really figured out what was important in his life and what wasn't. Other than that though, this book just wasn't for me.

Chevelle has had a crush on Cam for as long as she can remember but since he is her older brother Fish's best friend, he is off limits. And she thinks she is only seen as the little sister anyways. Cam, though, he has always seen Chevelle and lately he doesn't see her as the little sister. She is most definitely off limits. When Cam stands up for Chevelle he gets kicked out of his apartment and is forced by his dad to start a venture that is directly competing with Chevelle. Chevelle's family convinces her that she has to let Cam live with her since he was helping her out. So not only are the working together on the docks all day but now they are living together. No more hiding for either one of them.

I always thought Cam was the fun loving party boy so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he was more than that. Cam and Chevelle were fun. I loved their banter and the hijinks that they both got into with each other. This was a pretty fun and light read in comparison to some of the other Greene siblings. I am going to miss them but this was a great series and a great ending to the series.

So weit so wunderbar.

Not only is "My Brother’s Forbidden Friend" the most apt example of the phrase "saving the best for last," but it was also a beautifully bittersweet farewell to the Greene family that I wasn’t expecting.

If you’ve followed the Greene family since the beginning, I’m sure you’ve been just as intrigued by the tension between Cam and Chevelle as I have, but nothing could have prepared me for the number of tears I would shed. The laughter we all expected from the Greene family was as fantastic as ever, but as Chevelle’s love story played out, there were several times I had to wipe tears in order to be able to see the words on the page. I wasn’t ready for the emotional Greene family tragedy to completely and utterly consume my thoughts and emotions and transform them into a very real sense of healing.

Chevelle had a whole different perspective from her siblings on the loss of their mother. She held a lot of her feelings close to her chest, and she had a way of keeping people at a bit of a distance. Why would you want to love someone only to lose them? She didn’t let it completely harden her though, and I think along with her strength, that’s also attributed to the love the Greene family has for one another.

Cam has been a part of the Greene clan for years. People on the outside saw someone who grew up with everything, but the truth was that he found everything a child needs within his best friend’s family. He may have never seemed like the type to settle down, but the moment he saw the girl in the purple dress, his future was written in the stars. He was the perfect blend of protective alpha and swoony.

The tension between Cam and Chevelle could be felt the first time they appeared on the pages together, and as the other Greene siblings fell in love, the two of them were dangled in front of us like a sexual tension infused carrot on a string of panty melting overprotective words and sassy retorts. From the moment they met, they were inevitable under all the perceived hate of one another as two halves of a soul waiting to become whole.

I loved that Cam and Chevelle saw much more in one another than in each other. She saw him for who he was on the inside and not as the boy who had everything handed to him, and he saw the pain and guilt that had embedded itself inside her on that winter day. I giggled at Cam’s overprotectiveness, and when Chevelle let her emotions slip through, I had to wipe away tears in order to see the words before me and antics that made me laugh out loud. Everything I love about the Greene family, but this was more than that. It was a beautifully woven story of love, and the last piece the Greene family siblings needed to allow them to finally feel a sense of peace that was only ever going to happen with Chevelle.

I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so overwhelmed by the final book in a series. This duo has a way of infusing the families they create into your hearts, and you undeniably become a part of them. The laughs they’ve brought me when all I wanted to do was cry, and the tears I’ve shed by finding a sense of healing alongside the fictional characters are something that will remain long after this goodbye.

My Brother’s Forbidden Friend is without question the essence of saving the best for last. An enthralling combination of an intoxicating tension-filled slow-burn, a swoony hero, a sassy heroine, teeming with laugh-out-loud antics, giggle-inducing banter, from the laughter to the tears, each character's emotions bleeds through the pages, nursing home shenanigans, all set inside a fictional town in a state I’ve never visited, but all the same, it’s become a part of me, as the Greene family has offered me a sense of home and love that my heart had been missing.

We had to wait all this time for Cam and Chevelle's story but boy, was it ever worth it.

First of all, I want to say how much fun I always have reading a Piper Rayne book. Every book makes me feel all gooey inside and Cam and Chevelle's story was no exception.

The first part of the story was so much fun to read. I love Cam and Chevelle's banter and how they play tricks on each other, all in good intentions of course. I mean we've known since book 1 that these 2 would end up together and it was fun to see Cam as more than a player. I was actually expecting a bit more "playerness" from him, if that is even a word, but I was happy to discover his sweet and playful side. I was so happy to see him evolve as a dependable partner for Chevelle. He always did have a soft spot for her.

Chevelle is such a strong woman. Having gone through what she did, I can only imagine the shell she had to build for herself. Being the youngest and only girl in her family (not counting her step sisters of course) she always felt like she had to prove herself and she did so well!

And well, I won't spoil it for you but did I cry like a baby at the end? I did. I SO did. It just was the most beautiful ending for Cam and Chevelle who deserved all the happiness in the world. But I mean... soooo maaaaany teaaarrrssss. Happy tears, I promise.

Now waiting on the Christmas novella just to round it all up. It will be sad to officially say goodbye, but I'm looking forward to get glimpses of both Bailey's and Greene's in Rylan and Calista's book next year!

What a way to end the Greene Family story! The last part had me in tears. Oh how I love this family. Cam has always been Fisher's best friend, but he has always been there for Chevelle since her mother passed. When Chevelle was 5 her mother died after she went out on the small frozen lake to get little Chevelle after she went searching for her brothers. But her mother fell through the ice and couldn't be saved. Chevelle has felt guilty all of her life.

Now that they are older, Chevelle now runs her own charting business taking people out on her boat for fishing or just to have fun. Cam is still looking out for her like another older brother and she hates it. She has always had a crush on him and wishes he would look at her as a real woman instead of the little girl he's always watched over.

Cam hates the guys Chevelle keeps going out with. None of them are good enough for her. He doesn't like how his feelings have changed. How can he want her when she's his best friend's little sister?

Things get really good after a situation with Cam and his father. He has nowhere to go except to move in with Chevelle. What could happen there? Can he do this without betraying his best friend and going to do what his heart is aching for?

Thank you for putting an incredible end to this wonderful family's story. Piper Rayne are my favorite authors and this series is one of the best I have ever read. Thank you for letting me read an ARC copy. We need more family series just like this! Incredible! Enjoy

Just when you think you have read the best from the Greene family this writing duo throw a spanner in the works with their next hero and I fell hard and fast for Cameron (Cam) Baker. You knew it was going to takes special guy to win Chevelle’s heart because this man not only needed to win her over he also needed to win over her brothers so who better than a brothers best friend.
We have met Cam before because he is Fisher’s best friend but now it’s time for him and Chevelle to get their own book and what a wonderful, witty journey they took us on. I loved this couple but what took this book to another level was watching then grow as their story unfolded. They had an unspoken love but they danced around their feelings and it took time for them both to be on the same page at the same time so now it seems this is finally their time but how will Fisher react when lines are crossed……one click to find out.
This is the final book in The Greene Family and yes I was sad to see this series come to end because this family and their partners feel like family and I will miss their antics and their laugh out loud moments but I know I will never forget thus family and I will certainly read this series again. The chemistry is scorching hot, the banter is witty and lets not forget the grandmothers hilarious antics.
This was the perfect story to end thus amazing series on.

This is book nine in The Greene Family Series and it is Cameron and Chevelle's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Wow I can't believe that this is the final book in this amazing series but Piper Rayne certainly saved the best for last. This story takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I was in tears more than once with everything that was happening so make sure that you have the tissues ready because you are definitely going to need them. I absolutely loved how perfect Cameron and Chevelle were for each other and to watch there love story grow was such a beautiful thing to see even with there many ups and downs. The storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout and you actually felt like you were part of the Greene Family living through everything with them and I couldn't put this book down as it was a real page turner and so addictive. Piper Rayne are amazing authors and writers and they certainly know how to keep there reader's attention while reading there book's and I can't wait to read more in the future.

I cannot believe this is the end of the Greene Family series--well besides the little brother, but we'll see about that set up that we caught a glimpse of in this one!If you love a good brother's best friend, you definitely need this one! Also, let's talk about the fact that these two are completely meant to be, and have been friends since they were children. They developed a bond when they were young, and it's just kept growing! This gets real messy, with a crazy ex, forced proximity, and workplace competition. Seriously, this one had it all. I cannot believe we ended on such a high note. I love how Piper Rayne has written these family series that pull you in and keep you hooked until the very last one is coupled up! I sincerely love the Greenes and it's so awesome that you can start with the parents' story (Hank and Marla) in My Twist of Fortune!

5 Amazing Stars!!!

I seriously am running out of words to describe the words and feelings of how Piper and Rayne make me feel when reading one of their books. I mean every single time these ladies take me on a journey of coming home of love, life of heartbreak and of healing and I am here for it all.  Now I have been waiting for Chevelle's book since book #1 and knew it was going to be so special. I also knew that I was more than likely going to cry through it than any other book.....I was right. But I also laughed and swooned so hard at Cam. Like I knew there was so much more to him than what we had seen so far. And he was absolutely perfect for Chevelle!! Cam knew just they way to heal her pain and it was the most beautiful heartbreaking written words I have read in such a long time. I had to actually lay my kindle down for a few minutes to get control of my emotions. The way Piper and Rayne took us full circle and gave these particular Greene's what they needed was just so beautiful and perfect. These two are the perfect writing duo and I would recommend any and every book they have ever written together. 1,000 Stars for this book is what I was i could give it!!

The time has come to say goodbye to the Greene and I really don't want to. We have had glimpses of Cam and Chevelle over the series and I always wanted to know more about them. I love how Chevelle's personality was written, she was fiercely independent, knows her own mind but didn't have the harder edge that some authors give these types of female characters. Although we know some of the story it was good to see the events and how it affected her from Chevelle's perspective. Eventually Cam won me over with his sheer persistence and determination to prove his feelings. Piper managed to have the emotion of the story sit beside some fun times. The antics of the extended Greene family and especially the grandmas give some of the funniest moments, I really would love to be part of their crew. I loved them as a couple they were supportive of each other and it didn't hurt that they had sizzling hot chemistry. I don't know what's next from this author but I will be there waiting.

When this book dropped in my Kindle, I just stopped what I was reading.
When Piper Rayne drops a new book, I just have to read it right away. And so I did and OMG!
We've been waiting for Chevelle's and Cam's story and it is just AMAZING!
Loved every bit of it and chapter 28... that one really hit home and have been through the same with me and my parents, so yeah... I cried and think it's the first time for me reading a PR book. A really emotional one!
We've seen this love story coming, but I tell you... it got so much more!
Cam's story... wowzers! Yeah... he is, with Noah, my fave man of this series. He's been watching Chevelle from away, but he has always been there for her through all the years.
And Chevelle... heartbreak is all I can say. Behind her tough exteriour is a really beautiful person.
Yes, this story is amazing. If you've read the whole series so far, you really should read this one. It's the perfect "closure" of it.
4th October is the release date, so get ready for it (and for the residents of the Northern Lights retirement center).

Wow! My Brother’s Forbidden Friend is the most heartwarming, funny, wonderful story and an epic conclusion to the series! I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
Its also one I have been waiting in anticipation to read.
Chevelle and Cam’s book is one helluva ride. With so many feels! Sizzling tension, witty banter and the antics from the grandparents, I laughed alot!
The words, the characters and the support from the families, sent my emotions into turmoil, making this one of my absolute favourite stories of the series.
Not much more to say other than I would highly recommend you read the Greene Family series, each book the duo writes, gets better and better each time. Exceptional read, they definitely saved the best for last!

My favourite quotes:

“If life has taught you anything, it’s that tragedy can strike when you least expect it, so cherish every good thing and live your life to the fullest”

“Live your life like there isn’t a tomorrow.”

Finally Cam and Chevelle's story is here!
This is the final Greene Family book! (Don't worry, there is a another novella and we still have Rylan's book)
The sexual tension has been building between these two since the beginning of the series.
Boy does it combust in this story!
Both are great characters and have some things to work though.
How Cam protected Chevelle, he's such a great guy.
I absolutely love them and their story.
