From New York Times bestselling author, JB Salsbury, comes an angsty new romance with a bossy hero and woman who was born to survive.

To me, he was Grizzly.
To the world, I would learn, he’s someone else completely.

I should have died on that mountain.
But he rescued me.

More animal than man, he’s cold, distant, and fiercely territorial. He seems to hate me for simply breathing, and yet, he brought me back to life.

After my return to the city, I can’t stop thinking about him. His rough hands, intense glare, and the way he cared for me as if I meant something to him.

He tells me he’s dangerous. That I’m not safe around him. I would eventually understand why he warned me away. But by then it’s too late. My heart is his.

Wild North is book one in the brand new series, The North Brothers, by J.B. Salsbury. This is my very first book by this author and I am in love. It was beautifully written and I could not put it down.

Jordan Wilder is on a camping trip when she leaves her camp site and becomes seriously injured in the mountains. With her serious injuries and the cold weather, she fears death will be coming for her, but instead, a huge man who seems more wild than civilized, rescues her and takes her back to his cabin. He tends to her injuries but she still fears for her safety. He won’t talk to her. Is he planning to do something worse than what she already experienced to her?

“This cabin has always been my refuge. With her, it feels more like a padded cell.”

All Alexander North wants is to be left alone. He certainly didn’t want the company of a woman who asks non stop questions. But what else was he supposed to do? Leave her on the mountain to die? An unexpected ice storm has blown in and her injuries are serious. So they are stuck together until she is able to travel and the weather clears.

As the time passes, trust begins to grow. Alexander slowly begins to accept Jordan and even enjoy her company. And Jordan is more than intrigued with this man. He wants her to see his hard exterior but she sees so much more.

“I’m glad you found me.”
“Which time?”
“All of them.”

After Jordan is returned to New York, Alexander is all she can think about. Her life is a mess. But he is always there in her thoughts.

“She really is the perfect woman. But I’m far from the perfect man.”

I loved every single thing about this book. Alexander had so many secrets. But I couldn’t help but to love him. He was so misunderstood. He’d been used by so many. I had to believe that his brothers truly cared for him but I think that’s about all. And I love Jordan. She had been hurt by so many but she was so strong. Things were so dismal but she just kept on trying to survive.

I am definitely going to stay with this series. This is a stand alone but I already love the brothers and will want their stories. I loved the way J.B. wrote this and will also now need to look through her other books to see what else she has. This is a sexy, intriguing romance that I couldn’t put down. I’m so glad I decided to jump in to this new to me author’s series and can’t wait to see what comes next.

I guess I just needed more cabin time! I enjoyed this, specially the first half where they were stuck in the cabin in the wild and she was badly hurt and he was nursing her back to life. I enjoyed how she was annoying him and how he was trying to stay away. I liked them both in that first half of the book, but ugh I really didn’t like the Grizzly and Jordan in the second half.

Around the half way point, it all went downhill. For some reason I didn’t like the heroine in the second half like I did in the first half. I feel like she gave me an illusion of something that she is not. I can understand that when she came back she has nowhere to go and no money, but I didn’t like that she had to pretend like she doesn’t know that her cheating boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend and left her in the wild without searching for her! I don’t know what did I expect from her when she came back, but it’s definitely the complete opposite of what she did. She was just kinda too chill for my liking. Sometimes it felt like she got some fire in her and sometimes she’s such a pushover. It was really confusing. Also that reveal at the end? I didn’t like it.

The book had a strong enjoyable beginning, but the second half kinda ruined it for me. I just didn’t like it as the first half. They should’ve just stayed isolated in the cabin!

[image error] 📚WILD NORTH 📚 is the first full length romance book in the series 'The North Brothers', by J.B. Salsbury. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

This was a strong start to a new series, I love survival stories, out in the wild, isolated from civilisation, so I was excited to read this one.

Whilst out camping in the Adirondack mountains with her boyfriend of two years, and their besties Jordan Wilder catches her boyfriend and her best friend fooling around behind her back, finding out his best friend was on look out duty so they wouldn’t get caught, was a double whammy.
Taking off she takes a stumble down a ravine, coming to she wakes up in a small hunting shack being taken care of by a man who barely tolerates her in his space. He’s gruff, standoffish and downright rude, he’s more grizzly than human.

Thirty-three year old Alexander North prefers his solitude over a woman in his space asking non stop questions he even berates himself for saving her life. With the unpredictable weather making them having to hunker down until she's healed and they can trek out he begins to slowly to thaw in her presence.

Whilst tending to her needs they do have a fleeting connection before they are whisked back to their lives. New revelations are revealed about Alexander which endeared me to him more.

Wow what a let down! I’m honestly baffled at all the five star reviews ********This review will contain SPOILERS so don’t read it if you don’t want to know certain things. Honestly though I feel like these are things you should know before reading.******

This book started off so good and I was so excited. However around the halfway point things went downhill. when everything was revealed it was so disappointing. If I had known this was a dead ex book I 100% wouldn’t have read it. No matter what the circumstances surrounding the ex were, I would not have read it because I DESPISE dead ex books so I wish I had known.

Basically, H has a gf he loved so much proposed to her in front of people she said yes in public, once in private she was a bitch and revealed to him that his father hired her and she was actually sleeping with his father and wouldn’t marry him, he crashes their car in a blind rage and kills her. He vows to never love again all because of this and it holds true the rest of the book. He tells the h he doesn’t live her and will never love her, and he never tells her he does. The stupid h “understands” of course because how could he???!?!?!

He pushes the h away in an extremely cruel way, tells her about his ex, proceeds to tell her he doesn’t love her and never will and then leaves and says she can stay until she finds somewhere else to go. He stays at his office and has his driver let him know when she’s gone.
He goes to the woods to resign himself to never having her again and she supposedly leaves to move on to have a new life and job. Supposedly is the key word. All of a sudden she chases him and shows up at his cabin and says she’s fine with him never loving her. Pathetic imo.

The kicker to it all that really pissed me off? She looks just like his ex. Amazing. And seriously how is this a romance if they never exchange I love yours??? He doesn’t love her, obviously as that’s what he says, he just likes that he can possess her. He would’ve lived the rest of his life without her if she hadn’t pathetically chased him. And don’t get me wrong I’m alllll for a possessive hero, but that possessiveness usually come with a hefty does of love...not the case here.

I’m going to stop ranting now. I was going to give this one star but I did like the beginning so I’ll leave it at 2.

Note that two of us read this title and had vastly different reading experiences. The star rating is an approximation of our thoughts, so read on to see what we both had to say!! That's books, right?

Listen up y’all – this is some straight up sublimely addictive, superbly satisfying, sensationally emotional book crack.

I devoured this story. I lost an entire day in the secluded mountain wilderness with Alexander and Jordan. I ignored my family while following their story out of the woods and into the real world. I was held completely captive, glued to the pages while J.B. Salsbury delivered bruises, balms, and butterflies to my heart.

It 👏 Was 👏 So 👏 FREAKING 👏 Good!

My heart is cracked wide open for these damaged characters and their nearly savage love story. I was already primed for a grumpy/sunshine narrative, but this completely blew me away. It was riveting, emotional, and complex. It sometimes hurt to read, but the reward was insanely satisfying. There is something about a growly, possessive alpha who falls in love against his own will; something about seeing that man brought to his knees by a woman – ungh… I will never get enough of it.

And gaahhhh you guys, Jordan was such a perfect heroine. Like, there could not have been a better match for Alexander and I so enjoyed her indomitable spirit, her inner fire and unapologetic sass. I adored her and her giant heart so so much. She was amazing. The two together were a force of nature – captivating, powerful, and a whole lot of awesome.

I am already half in love with the rest of the North brothers so, even having turned the last page, my heart is fluttering with excitement for more. This was the five star read I didn’t even know I needed. The kind I wish I could read over again for the first time. The kind that left me with a book hangover I don’t even know how to move on from. Wild North was a top 2021 read for me, for sure! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

***

As soon as Wild North hit my kindle, I couldn’t wait to dive right in! I needed a broody, grumpy hero to help pull me out of my book funk. I was counting on Alexander North and his rescue and subsequent romance with Jordan would do just that . . . and initially it did! And then things went a bit off the rails.

Straight up, I loved Jordan and her spunk. And her willingness to try—try to find a way out of the predicament she was in. Try to allow herself to fall in love again, even after getting her heart broken repeatedly. Try to find a way to communicate with a grumpy, surly, gruff man who through his actions and mannerisms could truly be the man of her dreams—even if his communication skill needed a whole lot of work.

And initially, I liked Alexander, liked that even though it went against all his personal barriers and instincts, he didn’t hesitate when he realized Jordan needed help. But as time went by, it seemed that although Jordan grew stronger, Alexander really didn’t move much beyond his monosyllabic words.

Until his brothers came into the picture. An honestly, their interactions with Alexander is what put me off completely. I could not buy into the way Alexander’s family treated him as though he was some sort of machine—a genius among men who, if changed, apparently the genius couldn’t or wouldn’t continue. There were snippets of Alexander as a child with his grandfather that i would have loved to have seen more of—perhaps showing how their relationship helped Alexander “fit” in with his brothers and their interactions. Help better explain why the brothers got away with their actions.

I did enjoy the end—of course when Jordan and Alexander got it together for their happily ever after. But I really wanted to love Wild North in its entirety. Really wanted it to be an amazing, hold-my-breath-until-the-end romance. But that just wasn’t what happened when I got to the end. ~ Missy, 2.5 stars

Jordan went camping with her boyfriend and their friends. After a shaky discovery, she stumbles and falls down the mountain. Luckily, a huge, loner mountain of a man finds her and treats her injuries in his cabin. 🌲
He seems more like a beast than a man – intense, muscular and he barely speaks – but he take care of her with devotion… His name is Alexander, but she calls him Grizzly because of his looks. 🤎
He hates her incessant talk and questions – even her presence and the only thing they have in common is the immense attraction for each other. But until they finally come to an understanding and spend one night in peace, they are returned to the big city and Jordan finds out who Alexander really is… 😱

📚 “𝗨𝗽 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.” 📚

I really liked the first 70%, when they were isolated from the world. Compared to other books with "Loner Hero in the Middle of Nowhere" I was surprised by the twist when they returned to civilization, but what happened next was less to my taste. 🤷‍♀️
I was curious to find out the secret and understand Alexander's cold / hot behavior – and when I did, I kind of wanted to kick him in the balls… I was able to understand his pain but it still did not give him the right to act like an idiot. 😂
And Jordan? I did not like her at all! All I wanted was to get inside the pages, shake her and slap her hard to try and put logic in her head. 🤦‍♀️

📚 "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿." 📚

Make no mistake, Salsbury’s writing was excellent (as usual 👑) so I finished the book despite everything that bothered me.
The next book is about Alexander's brother, whom I really liked, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading it! 🤎

I listened to the audio version (which was great)

I sure know how to pick them?!
It doesn't matter that you look like his dead ex who he killed in a car accident. He just wanted to shut her up and slammed a car in a wall to do it! But is not his fault she was a bitch and saying all these mean things to him..eye fucking roll... it doesn't matter that hero is one walking, talking red flag!! I mean come on..

I wonder would she stayed with him if he was broke AF

had potential but aggressive male leads are not my jam...

Full Disclosure: I knew nothing about nothing except when I saw this cover, it called to me. So I #oneclicked. While we’re here, let me take this opportunity (if you follow me then this will not be new to you) to emphasize how important covers are, in my humble opinion. You never get a second chance at a first impression. The cover of your book is almost always, the first impression future readers get about your book. They will make assumptions (and by they I really mean Me lol) and they will asses based on those assumptions. So, you know, give them some thought :) That’s my half a cent on cover #winning, let’s move on!

I felt every single moment of this journey. I was addicted to the storyline from the moment I started reading. My eyeballs were on fire when I finally finished and even then, I wanted to read more. This story is not a simple one. It’s layered and a bit twisty and delivers on the anticipation meter off the charts! I don’t know where this author has been all my life, but I’m glad this cover caught my attention because now we’re going to be #bookbesties!

I was sooo looking forward to read this one, but unfortunately I didn’t like it as much as I was expected 🥴

Jordan is camping with her boyfriend and their friends. She runs of, gets in an accident and wakes up in a cabin, saved by a man: Alexander.
Alexander does not like her, and shows that. The snow and Jordan’s injuries prevents them from leaving.

”She has taken so much more than my basic resources, time, and energy. Her presence interferes with everything I come out here to find.”

I liked the first part. Him being all anti-Jordan, and her pushing all his buttons and smirking 😏
But then the twist came... end it was just bad 🥱
Alexander has some seriously unattractive red flags 😬

Spoilers ❌
I could’ve handle the psychological effect he suffers after neglect (he lived in foster care, and had a shitty biological dad). These kind of heroes are usual, when they are being mean and pushes the heroine away but grovels and we get a HEA. The classic.

But when the people around the hero keeps hinting that he is abusive and dangerous to women, and therefore encourage him to keep it to escorts, I have a hard time liking a hero.
I try to be open minded when it comes to romance and anti-heroes, but these kind of stories where women are killed by the hands of men even though it’s portrayed as the woman was a gigantic bitch - it’s to much of an reality many women suffers from or being fooled by. It’s just sad.
And I can’t like this hero because of his “mistake”. He seriously killed a woman in rage ❌❌❌
It’s to big of a red flag, so any woman should run the other direction.
He is too much of a anti-hero for me 🤥 I know that romance is not a reality, but this is glorifying a man that should be looked up! He wasn’t sorry for what he did, he excused with his reason (she had slept with his father and was a gold digger). And all the people around STILL protected him, made him to some kind of big shoot, and let him be rude and mean. He hadn’t learned shit.

- No cheating between MC but heroines boyfriend is, in the beginning.
- OW/OM drama: nothing that effects the MC
- Dual POV
- Triggers: Several
- HEA I guess

”This is so messed up.”
“It is.” She draws closer. “It’s messy and probably unhealthy, but it’s us. It’s ours.” She tilts her head back to look up at me. “And I want to keep it. I want to try. Because even at our worst, I’ve felt more cherished and cared for than I have with anyone else in all my life.”

I literally DEVOURED this book.

Grumpy hero/ sunshine heroine -✔
Forced close proximity - ✔
Damaged hero - ✔
Angsty -✔
Swoon worth hero -✔
All the feels - ✔✔✔

The first part during their time in the wilderness had me smiling,  I enjoyed  Jordan's chirpy character and non stop question while Alexander is in his "don't talk to me" grumpy behavior.

However,  as they part their ways,  my heart keeps on clenching. For Jordan's sense of betrayal - not knowing the truth and for fear of what Alexander might do. The push and pull is extreme. It's ANGSTY and I. LOVE. IT.

I also love how Ms. Salsbury slowly introduced us to the North Brothers. Their dynamics was something to look forward to.

I'm just a tad disappointed when the issue was resolved and wrap up all of a sudden. 😔 You know the feeling when you're anticipating for more angsty moment when whoa... that's it?? Don't get me wrong,  obviously I love for them to get their HEA but I just hope for more struggle/ indecision angsty feel 😁

Still, I highly recommend this book. If you're looking for an entertaining yet angsty read that is a real page turner, this is it.

This was my first read from this author and it won't definitely be my last. Can't wait to read the the next North Brothers stories.  I wonder who's next.  🤔

Wow, this book! An exciting and intense romance that is unexpected, passionate and full of emotion, it’s another fantastic read by J.B. Salsbury, and I loved it!

Jordan is camping in the Adirondack Mountains when she becomes separated from her group and has a dangerous fall. She is rescued by a ‘Grizzly’ mountain man who carries her back to his cabin and tends to her wounds, and the two of them soon find themselves stuck there when bad weather traps them together.

It’s a great set-up, made all the more amazing because of these incredible characters. Jordan is bright and optimistic with a lot of sass, where as her ‘Grizzly’ rescuer, Alexander, is everything she’s not – cold, broody and closed off, and very unimpressed to have somebody imposing on his quiet getaway in the woods.

An ice storm holds me prisoner inside my own cabin with a woman who irritates the fuck out of me by simply breathing. And it’s my fault she’s breathing.

Initially, Jordan’s injuries keep her quiet and bed-bound, and Alexander is busy keeping the two of them alive in the harsh conditions. But as Jordan recovers, things become really entertaining as she tries to drag Alexander out of his shell, and they form a connection that neither of them saw coming. It’s sweet and fun, the chemistry is electric, and the sexy time is super passionate *fans self*.

Everything changes for them when they are returned to the big city, and are exposed to the realities of the other’s lives. Turns out Alexander is a genius and a millionaire , with the weight of a huge corporation on his shoulders, while Jordan’s ‘real’ life is pretty much falling apart. It’s a complete shift from what they thought they knew about each other, yet they cannot stay away, and I loved watching these two navigate such a completely different environment.

“You say you don’t love me, but you’ve been loving me well since the day we met.”

More importantly, Jordan comes to learn more about Alexander – about who he is, what he’s capable of, and terrible secrets from his past. He is a complex character, and is beautifully written, and I felt so much for him. And Jordan is such a wonderful heroine – a pillar of strength determined to be with the man she loves, but also not willing to get walked all over. They are facing a difficult situation, and there is some back and forth as they work through it all, but they handle it beautifully and the emotion is just gorgeous.

He closes the distance between us, his hands grip my hips, and he pulls me flush to his body. “I’m going to screw this up. Don’t let me get away with it.” The vulnerability in his eyes makes my heart ache.
“I won’t.”

Along the way, we get to meet Alexander’s brothers, and wow, what a complicated bunch! There are some extreme personalities here, but given what they’ve had to deal with while growing up, it’s to be expected. There are some fantastic dynamics at play and I can’t wait to get to know them better as the series continues.

I loved this book. It’s intense and angsty, but it has moments of lightness and sweetness. Jordan and Alexander are wonderful characters, and I felt so much for both of them throughout the book. The romance is honest, sweet, and seriously sexy, and there’s something so natural about it. I loved seeing these two together, and I thought their story was beautifully told.

J.B. Salsbury has given us a really strong start to the North Brothers series, and I cannot wait for more!

4.5 stars!

Awesome romance fiction!

While on a camping trip with her boyfriend and two friends, Jordan catches her boyfriend in a sexual clinch with her friend. Distraught, she runs away and accidentally falls over a cliff just as a major snowstorm is about to roll in.

Alexander is a socially awkward architectural design savant with anger management issues. When he can’t stand people anymore, he retreats to his grandfather’s remote hunting cabin. He’s on one such sabbatical when he discovers the unconscious, injured Jordan. He’s resentful that his solitude has been violated, but he saves her life, taking her back to his cabin.

She’s a pain in the ass. She’s nosy, doesn’t respect boundaries, and talks too much. He’s fierce, angry, and taciturn and won’t even tell her his name.

Just as amity (and physical attraction) develops between them, Alexander’s brothers send a helicopter to retrieve him and they’re thrust back into the real world where Jordan discovers that “Grizzly Adams” is an elite, wealthy design powerhouse from a very dysfunctional family whose history and background is a big mystery no one will talk about.

Wild North is a standout for its well-crafted story line and excellent writing. Details are delivered at just the right moment to keep the reader hooked and the story moving forward. The sex scenes are exceptional, some of the best I’ve ever read. Not only are they hot, they flow naturally out of the plot and character development. Like the rest of the plot points, they happen at exactly the right time and fit the characters and story perfectly.

This is one of the best books I’ve read all year. Wild North is book 1 of The North Brothers series. The other books aren’t written yet, but I can’t wait to read them and see what happens to Alexander’s brothers.

3.5-4 ⭐️ I wish this would’ve given them more time in the cabin because I felt it was rushed and the heroine acted a little childish at the beginning but other than that I enjoyed this one.

REVIEW
I read this book a few years ago, and I am happy to report that it held up to my memory.

Alexander has all the characteristics of someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder, and while that may not be the most compelling romantic lead, JB Salsbury managed to write a romance that still made me swoon.

Spoilers Ahead

Alexander rescues Jordan after she almost dies in the wilderness after catching her boyfriend cheating on her with her friend. Alexander is abrasive, going as far as referring to her as a pet in his inner monologue.

He does not like her in his space. Jordan isn’t magically “the one” to open Alexander’s heart. It comes with time and many missteps, including both of them pointing a shotgun at each other.

I really enjoyed their time in the wilderness. It was a bit jarring to suddenly change the setting to the city, where Alexander became less rugged and more refined. We discover he’s a billionaire genius who goes on these mountain excursions so he doesn’t “lose his cool” and hurt someone, as he has in the past.

Alexander regards Jordan as a possession, albeit a highly valued one. He is not above saying “please”, nor is he above apologizing, but he does it after saying hurtful things—and boy, does he know how to pack a punch. To be honest, he’s far more redeemable to me than some other “heroes” I’ve read.

He is upfront about his violent tendencies. He never hurts Jordan in the way he feared, although their interactions do tend to be a little rough (which she vocally enjoys). He is seen as barely holding onto his control, his temper often getting the better of him.

This mysterious situation that’s alluded to throughout is finally revealed toward the end, where we learn toward that Alexander was driving when his ex was ejected from the vehicle. She had been berating him and revealed she’d not only been paid by his father to be in a relationship with him, she was also sleeping with his father. He said he just got so angry he crashed into a wall. He hadn’t known she unbuckled, but it didn’t matter because she was dead, and he had killed her.

Now, this is where IRL, this is a dealbreaker and is truly heinous. However, in this genre, there’s been worse acts committed for far pettier reasons. Not that the comparisons make it better, of course. I’m not here to excuse murder, but I can look past it, ya know? Also, it was described far better and with more compassion in the book.

Jordan and Alexander’s love is unconventional. He never does say the words “I love you.” He says he will never love her because he CAN’T. His actions speak loudly and it’s clear Jordan is his entire life. He spoils her rotten and promises to do better—and does. If you need the characters to say the words, you’ll be disappointed (and I understand), but it worked for the couple and their story.

The part I hated the most was the fact that Jordan looked like Alexander’s ex. It was unnecessary, and honestly was barely even mentioned for it to be impactful. That one detail aside, I’m fully invested in this romance.

OW/OM DRAMA OM — Jordan is dating a cheater in the beginning
|||
not really OM — a man offers Jordan a job where she’ll have to relocate and flirts with her heavily. she is uninterested
|||
past OW — Alexander’s (dead, by his hand) ex causes him to push Jordan away out of fear he’ll hurt her

CHEATING not really — Jordan is with her cheating bf in the beginning. after almost dying, she didn’t have a chance to break up with him before getting with Alexander, but the relationship was essentially over on both ends
THIRD ACT BREAKUP yes — reconciliation very quickly after
ENDING HEA — near future epilogue

I can count on one hand the authors whose books I'll blindly pick up, and JB Salsbury is one of them. So I get pretty excited every time I see that she has a new book coming out. Wild North is about Alexander North and Jordan Wilder. When Jordan decided she wants to make a last trip to a waterfall before leaving the forest she ends up in a ditch and blacks out. Alexander saves and brings her to his small cabin. Alexander is the silent, grumpy, and broody type and doesn't appreciate Jordan's curious personality. I was hooked to the story from the start and couldn't wait to see the relationship develop between these two intriguing characters. I was especially curious about Alexander because he didn't give away a lot. It took Jordan a minute for him to acknowledge and actually have a conversation with her. I could feel Jordan's frustration as it was my own. I loved that the story took a big part of the book in the mountains because I enjoy that middle of nowhere setting where the characters almost have no choice but to get to know each other.

"You say you don't love me, but you've been loving me well since the day we met."

I honestly loved everything about Wild North. The author really took her time for the characters to develop a bond. I don't like it when things are rushed and so I appreciate it when things happen organically. In the beginning both Alexander and Jordan are suspicious of what the intentions are of the other, and it was brought to life perfectly in this story. I loved the banter and how annoyed Alexander was with how much Jordan was talking and asking questions. The groundwork for their relationship was everything. I loved seeing them starting to see each other in a different light. Alexander and Jordan were perfect for each other and I really respected Jordan's patience and determination. It wasn't always easy being with Alexander, but I loved that she didn't give up. This was a fun, sexy and sometimes emotional romance, and I loved it so much. I wish it was longer because I didn't want to say goodbye to the characters. I am so happy that this is part of a series, because I need for all of Alexander's brothers to get their own books. Plus I want to see how Jordan and Alexander are doing as well.

Premise sounded interesting what with the whole forced proximity trope between a grumpy recluse and a sunshiney type heroine.
That being said the setting was not only aggravating but distasteful and OTT.
During a camping trip, heroine hurts herself fleeing from her boyfriend cheating with her best friend.
The whole debacle felt terribly contrived and ridiculous and I should have left it at that.

However I soldiered on because this story came recommended to me many times.
I didn't care for the so called chemistry between Jordan and Grizzly. I've liked reading about obnoxious growly motherfuckers but this dude was just not likeable nor redeemable, even less so after we're made aware of his "troubled past". The power dynamic felt—dare I say—abusive, considering his history with violence.
The heroine isn't much better than him, I think I've had pretty much written her off since the first chapters and her meek behavior after catching her bestie and boyfriend doing her dirty.
Hard pass. Do not recommend.

ohohoho....
I liked this very much!

I've read it in one sitting...
If you like the whole recluse-a-bit-of-anti-social/psychotic-grumpy-highly-intelligent type of a guy...this IS your BOOK!

And the heroine...simply rocks!

p.s.
I didn't like the way one important occurrence in the story was dealt with :/ BUT some might consider it, a done deal, but for me, it was awkwardly presented. *shrugs*

And of course, I am looking forward to more of The North Brothers!

„I want you. I need you. Everyday. Forever.”

I live for unconventional love stories, and JB Salsbury never fails to deliver just what I need. Wild North is a book that totally consumed me, bringing the angst, raw passion and so many emotions. It's absolutely phenomenal!

As a huge fan of grumpy, troubled heroes, it's no wonder that I fell in love with Alexander- hook, line, and sinker. This man is mysterious and intense, awakening the reader's mind and body by mere appearance. While his detachment and harsh personality initially left a lot to be desired, the later explanation for his behavior and the development of his character knocked me off my feet. I adore him!

Now Jordan… I liked her curiousity and tenacity. Despite the unpleasant situations and betrayal that affected her in life, this girl showed great determination and patience. She definitely has a self-preservation instinct and a good head on her shoulders.

These two met under unusual circumstances, and although their first interactions were not the most pleasant, over time they filled with an unrestrained lust and wild passion. I loved to see how they opened up slowly to each other, how they gained mutual trust and how they allowed each other to show the feelings they both guarded. Alexander and Jordan's love story is complex and imperfect, but that's what makes it so beautiful and special.

I love that JB Salsbury writes about complicated love and that she does it so beautifully. Wild North was a captivating and unique read that was totally unputdownable and I cannot wait for more books in the series. The other North brothers definitely caught my attention, and I really want to read about each of them!

Wild North is the first book in the North Brothers series and the one that had my attention since it is a bit of a survival romance/isolated mountain-man/tortured hero vibe. Or seems to be and starts out that way at least! 😆

The story starts off following the heroine Jordan. Feeling like her relationship is in a rut and fizzling out, she decides to take a last ditch effort camping trip to the Adirondack mountains with her boyfriend and their 2 best friends. But while on the trip Jordan catches her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend, and his best friend was in on it as well since he kept their secret and acted as the lookout while they hooked up. Hurt and embarrassed, Jordan runs off and ends up falling into a ravine where she passes out. She wakes up later and is rescued by the hero, who she calls Grizzly because of his “mountain man” vibe. But we find out the hero’s name is actually Alexander North and while gruff at first and very stand-off-ish to Jordan, he starts to feel pulled to her and (slightly) warms up.

So about halfway into this one we find out more about Alexander and his actual identity. It ends up taking him and Jordan back to the real world. I wasn’t as invested in this portion of the story, I was enjoying the first half a lot more in the isolated setting on the mountain. 😅

2.5

during the first half of the book, the main characters were stuck in a cabin and the forced proximity trope worked quite well. i also liked that it took some time for them to start liking each other and that most of their interactions were angsty.

however, after they leave the cabin everything got boring af. they seemed like completely different characters and the plot was very cliche (not in a good way). the hero was also shady af and i honestly think it would’ve been better if the mc’s didn’t end up together 😵‍💫

***4,5 "My Grizzly!!!" stars***

AVAILABLE NOW

"The greatest risks can lead to the greatest reward."

This was a very different story than the usual and I loved it very much.
I believe that this is my second book by this author, but just from the cover I knew that I wanted to read this story and the author really impressed me with the characters and the storyline. So much that I'm afraid that the other North boys won't meet my expectations since Alexander was one of a kind... And Jordan was such an adorable creature!!!

"To me, he was Grizzly.
To the world, I would learn, he’s someone else completely."

Everything started when Jordan took a mountain trip with her boyfriend and their friends... Betrayal hit her hard and she ended up battered and hurt. She was saved by a broody man and she was forced to live under his cabin's roof for weeks since the bad weather wasn't leaving them in peace.
Grizzly, or Alexander as his real name was, was the silent and terrifying type, but slowly and steadily Jordan had managed to override his barriers...
But when they managed to find a common ground, reality changed everything for them!!!

"I should've died on that mountain.
But he rescued me."

"This woman's presence is unsettling."

I loved very much Jordan and her Grizzly. I liked their beginning. It was making me giddy and I was waiting like crazy to see how things will end up between them. To say that I wasn't surprised of how things turned out after all, it will be a lie!!! I didn't expected it, but I really liked it!!!
After all, it is blessing to be hurt deep in the woods, if there would be someone like Alexander to save you, even when he is an unwilling knight in "white" armor!!! LOL!!!

"This cabin has saved me more times than I can count. This time, I fear it might ruin me."

I loved Grizzly... I loved him even when he was mad and irrational. Alexander was a different hero and very moody, but he was a great person... He was carrying his own demons and he was cutting himself short and he didn't deserve that!!!
As for Jordan??? She never lost her courage and she knew how to find her way through your heart. She was very strong and determined and I loved her for these reasons... She was the perfect match for her Grizzly even when she seemed that she couldn't be more unfit for him!!!

"You push every single button I have without giving a single shit about the consequence."

"Every mark on my skin will remind me of the brutal, savage man who saved me. The man who struck me with both fear and longing."

These two were explosive together and I enjoyed their crazy story very much!!!
Can't wait for more of these North brothers, even Hayes's turn who didn't make the greatest impression to me!!!
J.B. Salsbury created an amazing world here and with just one story, she made me already addicted to this North boys!!!
This book totally deserves your attention. Trust me!!!

"I'm glad you found me..."

Unique and interesting

This was so unexpected and different, it's got me wanting to read more from the series immediately. I love forced proximity and a grumpy hero, so I thought I knew what I was getting into with this one. I didn't. It's a lot more complex than anticipated, and the unpredictability had me hooked. As a romance reader, you get used to seeing the same tropes recycled over and over again - so it's refreshing to read something that's not easy to label. While initially I would've called this a Beauty and the Beast story, it shifts gears along that way and transitions into something more nuanced. This is one of those rare instances where I think the story could've benefited from a longer length, because I was SO CLOSE to rating this as 5 stars, but there are a few things that could've been handled better.

The story follows Jordan, a woman on an outdoor adventure with her boyfriend and friends. The trip was Jordan's last attempt at repairing her relationship, which seems to have run its course. So when she sees her boyfriend cheating, it throws Jordan off-balance - and she runs. Directly into a winter storm. Saved from death by a mysterious stranger, Jordan finds herself in a cabin. It's only the two of them against the elements, and Jordan isn't sure if she can trust the temperamental, beast of a man. But Alexander has helped Jordan heal, and shown concern for her well-being in her time of need. Surely he can't be all bad. As the two spend time together, they become closer... until the moment when Jordan realizes that she never knew Alexander at all.

This is sort of a book in two halves, the "before" and the "after." What probably would've pushed this into 5-star territory for me is a longer "before." I loved the scenes with Alexander and Jordan at the cabin, her getting to know a man who is total mystery. There are some great quiet moments and subtle shifts in their relationship during that period that I wanted more of once the story switched gears. I needed them to have a stronger connection going into the "after," because Alexander is a scary guy. It's tough to explain without offering up spoilers, so I'll just say that I ended the book confident that he'd do something violent and terrifying in the future. I really enjoyed the reading experience, but that's definitely something that's on my mind. I also picked up the second book in the series (featuring Alexander's brother) immediately and dove right in. I have a feeling that the whole series is going to feature unique storylines, and I'm ready to get reading.

Audio note: I liked the audio! It's got dual narration with two solid voices. I'm not overly familiar with either narrator, but I recognized both of them. The female narrator has a bit of an accent, so her voice is easy to listen to but also unique enough to catch your ear at times. The runtime is just under 10 hours and easy to speed up if you're trying to fit this into a workday listen. It's not a slow burn, but the steamy scenes are pretty short, so I didn't have any trouble listening while working. The overall tone is more somber and tense, with a few sexy moments in the mix.

This book pulled me out of my reading slump!!!
It's the first book I read from this author and now I want to check out her other works too.
So, we meet Jordan who is in a relationship and we find her hiking with her boyfriend and friends. After being stranded alone and hurt in the wild, she finds hope and help in a mysterious, cold and brooding man. She calls him Grizzly. His actual name is Alexander and he is not your usual hero.
Being nursed back to health by a stranger is no easy thing to endure. Jordan's bright personality, clashes with Alexander's and what we get is a tenion filled journey. With the proper amount of angst, of course.
I loved the writing, the characters, the chemistry. So why 4 stars?
Because by the time it ended, I felt as if I had missed a part of the book. We get our resolution quickly and easily and that didn’t side with the story in its entirety. I felt as if a few chapters were missing.
Besides that, this was a refreshing story that I loved.

I love a good old stuck in the wilderness romance and this one did not disappoint! After Jordan blacks out in a ditch, Alexander begrudgingly rescues her, only to then be stuck together in his snowy cabin retreat for several weeks. Alexander takes moody to a whole new level, is very gruff and definitely not patient with Jordan while she is healing. Slowly, they form a bond, only to be taken back to reality.

I loved everything about this. Alexander was an atypical hero and I loved being inside his head. I am curious if there’s still more to him than meets the eye. Jordan was a sweet heroine and I loved how she took no shit from Alexander. I am also dying for Hayes’s book! He was such a prick to Jordan but I loved how he had his brother’s back no matter what. 4.5 stars

Holy hot Grizzly Adams!!

What an intense and wild ride of emotions this was! It was phenomenal!!

This emotion-packed story was utterly captivating and I was enamored with all things Alexander North. His scowls, grunts and growls, his brutal honesty, his quirks and habits…everything.

Jordan was absolutely fabulous.
She has been dealt a shit hand in life, many times, but she is one tough cookie. Her sass, her strength, her tenacity, the fight inside her made me have quite the girl crush. I looked forward to every interaction between Alex and her. I adored how she called him Grizzly Adams. I enjoyed how she pushed his buttons. I loved how she slowly, and oh so cleverly and adorably and annoyingly broke down his walls and helped him lighten up and be…happy?

The energy between these two was electric. Their chemistry poured from the pages in tingles and sparks and sizzles galore. I swear my Kindle vibrated when they were together.

Not only was this an emotional read at times, but there was a perfect amount of humor spread throughout at exactly the right times. And suspense? YES. Full of surprises? Definitely. It always kept me guessing. Loaded with sexy deliciousness and fire and all-consuming passion between the hero and heroine? OMGoodness YESSSSSS. Loved this book so much.

Unputdownable, highly recommendable, and so very unforgettable.

Kingston’s story is the next book.
Am I going to read it? HELL YES I AM.
I want all the North brothers!!!

OMG! Alexander (aka Grizzly) and Jordan have an amazing story to tell. I devoured this book in a day because I HAD to know what happened. The cover and the blurb gives a mountain man vibe, so I was intrigued before even turning the first page.

I love Jordan from the beginning and I hated the jerks in her life. I am sure you will feel the same. She has such a fighter spirit mixed with a beautiful heart. It is somewhat surprising. As you learn about her childhood, how she isn’t hardened irreparably is shocking. Alexander had me asking questions right from the star. His brutal honesty and hidden savior qualities increased my need to know more. HOLY HECK, when you find out more, plan for many surprises.

I really feel with Alexander you don’t get your typical, often regurgitated hero. His behaviors and personality kept me more that intrigued. He wasn’t really an anti-hero either but had his own stuff to work out. Jordan is the perfect heroine to help nudge him along on his journey. Love it!

Lastly, Alexander’s brother appearances in this book help me see that they all have their secrets and own unique personalities which means I need their stories ASAP. Wink!

Have fun experiencing this five star book. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
