I have always been a lover of words ever since I left the womb. I began writing as soon as I could form sentences. Writing was my escape into new worlds while I was growing up. I have always been influenced by the horror and romance genres.
Super fun, quick read. I can imagine this being a real thing as well which added another level. Really liked the main character, and really felt for her, especially the end!
This was an interesting read. I enjoyed the storyline but I was annoyed with the amount of grammar mistakes. There was a lot of misspelling of names too. Definitely needed to be revised better. But other than that, I flew through this book.
Wrath by Karmellah Howlett is about a woman, Cleo, who recently lost her daughter to a serial killer. Her husband couldn’t deal with the pain and confusion of this loss and unalived himself. So Cleo is alone and not doing well. She is approached with the opportunity to exact revenge on the person who killed her daughter. I’m going to leave it there as this is a short novella and to say much else about the plot would lead to spoilers.
*Possible Spoilers Ahead* I enjoyed Wrath. It went into some extreme territory that I was not expecting, so fair warning and definitely check out the trigger warnings. The weakest part of this book, I’d say, were the characters. I only really got to know Cleo, it felt like to me. There’s a few other characters and I kept forgetting who they were. Having said that, Wrath is a short novella, as mentioned, so I’m a little glad that not too much time was spent on them. One thing Karmellah does really well is putting you into the grief and suffering of the protagonist, thereby putting the reader in an awkward position. Do you root for or against Cleo? I rooted for Cleo and felt dirty for it. And yet justified. I love it when stories do this to me.
Wrath is the story of Cleo and two other men who have all suffered an egregious loss of someone close to them. They pay a fortune to fly to a private island and seek some closure.
This book is like vigilante meets Hunger Games. I felt for the characters and their losses. The deep emotional turmoils and moral quandaries between griever becoming the murderer was intense.
The ending really elicited wrath and rage in me, I could feel for Cleo and Archer. I wish the ending was a little longer but I enjoyed the cliff hangar and felt it was an appropriate ending to a series. Leaving me enticed for the next book. Enjoyed this novella!
This was all the female rage I ever needed in a book,I was SCREAMING for Cleo the entire time. Desperately hoping she would get her revenge. The war within Cleo’s head about if getting revenge for the things that happened to you and if it would make you feel better was truly so well done. No one knows how that would feel until you are in that situation.
I can’t wait to read the rest in the series but also that ending 👀👀👀👀
Loved this novella! My heart was hanging on each page for these characters!! Howlett did a great job of keeping me on edge and building up these characters. Such a thrilling quick read with lots of guts and gore that could easily be a movie! Cannot wait for the other books in this series.
The premise of the book was great, unfortunately, the writing was a bit of a letdown. I try to immerse myself in my reads and ignore small spelling and grammatical errors, but there were so many in this short story it took me out of it constantly. There was really no character development so I found myself not caring what happened to who.
I really loved this book! It is very well written and easily kept my attention the entire book! A book of what happens when you ask for answers and revenge! I felt like thete were no boring parts of this book. Can't wait to read the rest in this series. Go Karm!
A quick read that will get you thinking about justice, wondering what you would do in the MC's position. Gory, so was fitting for Halloween, but a little weirdly paced and fleshed out.
Dnf. While I liked other stories in this series, this one was missing key information like characters entering and leaving a scene that made following it a bit confusing. There were some spelling and grammatical errors, as well.
