But peace in Wundor is threatened. A bitten werewolf is pregnant with a pureblood pack's heir. A civil war between the wolves could destroy the Guardians forever.
When a friend asks Luca for help, he must decide what matters more. Returning to Zara? Or preventing a Civil War?

I loved Guardians of Wundor and Child of the Moon is a fitting sequel. Fast movie and full of magic and adventure, Child of the Moon is a must read for lovers of fantasy and paranormal romance.
Luca the half-elf and one of the guardians of the rift in Wundor is torn by a decision he is forced to take, that of helping a friend or keeping his head down in order to get relocated to the other side of the rift to be with his girlfriend Zara, a human. When Brax's daughter Aeylin's life is in danger because she was pregnant with a full blood's wolf cub Luca decides he and his friends have to help in what ever way they can but taking Aeylin across the rift to keep her safe might not have been their wisest decision, especially as they went behind their commander's back and Skylar was furious. A war ensued between the guardians and the werewolf pack under the orders of Kinnison's tyrannical and very powerful father who would not accept his heir to have a child with a half blood. He lured them all into his castle and set them up but they found help where least expected. Zara had kept the secret of Wundor from her human friends back home at great sacrifice to herself as she felt so alone without Luca but when Aeylin's life is on the line Josh and Emma are dragged into the world of Wundor too and right into the heart of danger which nearly cost them their own lives. I love the heroism shown in this book by the two young wolf servants, Beth and Myles as well as the loyalty and courage of Nero. I also liked the way Emma took to the magical aura in Wundor and had no regrets about experiencing this magical realm even though it nearly cost her, her life. Zara is on to new adventures and hopefully she will learn fast in order to return to her beloved and her numerous friends on both sides of the rift. I look forward to reading into her next adventure and hope it will not be as risky and exciting as this book turned out to be!
'Protect the Rift' is book two in the 'Guardians of Wundor' series by Miranda Harvey. Book one 'Into the Rift' was a bit slow paced for me until the last half but I understand Ms. Harvey was setting up the scene for the rest of the book. I also felt it was more on level with middle school reading. That being said, book two has matured and advanced to high school/adult reading material. It is fast paced and dives into the adventure right away. There are more intimate detailed scenes and a ton of Wundor world characters and adventures.
The story is not so much about protecting the Rift as it is about family loyalties, outside tribes and who to trust within the leading Royal family, sounds a little familiar. The Guardians of the Rift try to uphold their loyalties to the Guardians first, protect the civilians, and be as diplomatic as possible to all. Betrayal abounds, there is dramatic family disputes, warring factions, good fight scenes, adventure and more drama traveling back and forth through the Rift. The world building is fun and magical. The character are relatable, some of my favorites end up in painful situations and the romance between Luca and Zara keeps growing and gets steamy. Book two is worth the read and will certainly entertain you from the get go.

This was another fun read in the world of Wundor. In this second instalment, half-elf Luca and human Zara get drawn into messy and complicated werewolf politics as they attempt to help a pregnant bitten werewolf in danger, and end up getting more than they bargained for!
It was fun to be back with these characters again and to meet some new ones. I admit that the reasoning behind some of the decisions the characters made (like going to the werewolf castle and not calling Emma an ambulance) sometimes felt a bit flimsy. I can see why the events were necessary to drive the plot forward but at times I felt frustrated with characters making such obviously silly choices.
Nonetheless it was still an enjoyable read, especially the second half, which really picked up the pace towards an exciting climax. There is a revelation at the very end which leads into the next book and I'm really excited about the direction it's taking and the possibilities for book three.

Peace in Wundor is threatened over a bitten werewolf who is pregnant with a pureblood pack's heir. Having a civil war erupt between the wolves and the Guardians could destroy the Guardians forever. Because Brax's daughter, Aeylin, could lose her life over this, he needs Lucas’s help. Luca and his friends make a bad decision, however, when they take Aeylin across the rift to keep her safe. That gave the wolves the reason they needed to attack.
Zara had been keeping the secret of Wundor from her human friends back home. However, with Aeylin's life is on the line, she brings Josh and Emma into the world of Wundor too -- and unfortunately into danger which almost cost them their lives. Will they ever get this straightened out? How much trouble is Luca in now?
True Love can put ALL you hold dear on the line! Book Two!
If you have made it to here, you have probably already read book 1 "Into the Rift" if not do get it and read it first.
In a world just the other side of that tree there are Elves, Dragons, Unicorns and Fairies and more and while it is just the other side of that tree it is not next door. Us humans are not welcome there, but that may change thanks to Zara, Emma, Josh and a half-elf named Luca. Come join them on the ride of their life!
PS: While I signed up to get an "ARC" I could not get it to work for the first book in the series and not fo this one either so I did buy them from Amazon.
I enjoyed this story as the story was better then the first with more problems and craziness about to blow up. Danger, betrayal, a possible rebellion, intrigue, and Zara and Luca trying their best to blend in and not cause waves. Of course their plan to stay quiet and in the background does not go as planned and thus the story is fun to read. The story sucked me in to see what would happen as I am now familiar with the character and the 2 worlds. New characters and returning ones show in this story. I liked it.
Love and War! So much is happening, in this unpredictable, action adventure, Zara and Emma deal with a werewolf pregnancy. Luca and his friends deal with a war in this easy to read, entertaining story that has great world building and wonderful characters. Looking forward to more adventures in Wunder.
Set aside most of a day for this PG15 paranormal saga in which the half-elf/half-witch Luca must choose between his human love, 19-year-old Zara of The Haven in Rosa Brook, Australia, and helping a fellow Guardian protect his daughter from the pure-bloods.
