Jiang Ying, a controversial second-generation celebrity. Loves nothing more than collecting dirt on other stars.

Qi Zhu, a controversial actor. His hobby? Counterattacking trolls, tabloids, and anti-fans.

Classmates from elementary school to high school, they fit the mold of childhood sweethearts. And yet they were more like fire and ice: utterly incompatible.

Back in high school, they fought while reviewing test answers. On set, they fought over their scripts. For better or worse, the two were in contact every single day. Their QQ streak has never been broken.

By chance, Qi Zhu discovered his own dirt in Jiang Ying’s possession.

Qi Zhu: ?

Jing Ying: Don’t you know? Your scandals are way cuter than you.

Jiang Ying thought they would bicker for the rest of their lives.

Until, one day, he came across a new ship on Weibo: ZhuiFengZhuYing.

And a supertopic to match: ZhuYingYaoHong.

Soon after Jiang Ying was born, his parents held his zhuazhou ceremony. Among the items they set out before him, Jiang Ying crawled to the keyboard.

Ever since his youth, Jiang Ying had never lost an argument.

In a popular squabbling app that randomly matched users with differing opinions, prompting them to fight, Jiang Ying could handily defeat any opponent.

After spending three years on the app ‘Fight!’, Jiang Ying reigned as king of the leaderboard.

Out of the goodness of his heart, to benefit society, Jiang Ying took an apprentice who clearly didn’t know the first thing about dissing people. He worked hard to train up his little apprentice until the kid could diss and roast as fiercely as the king.

It was only later, when he was pushed down in bed and [redacted] by the typically cold and taciturn Qi Zhu, that Jiang Ying realized Qi Zhu had somehow learned every trick in his book.

This is the story of Jiang Ying and Qi Zhu. Jiang Ying is the younger brother of the ML on the previous book I recently read. He's the guy who loves to diss people.😅

So this is more of a childhood friends turned to lovers kind of story. It has a very different dynamic than the previous book which apparently is a prequel novel. They have a saying that is quite apt for Jiang Ying's situation: a frog that is slowly being boiled on water won't feel/notice it is being boiled.😂

There are lots of funny situations in the novel especially the interaction of fans on the comment sections. At first, I was not that into their story because Jiang Ying is just too ridiculous and not that charming. But in the end he kinda grew on me.

I love how he lives his life just being true to himself and enjoying life. To be honest the ML, Qi Zhu is a bit flat for me. He has his moments but Jiang Ying really carried the story for me. No nsfw scenes here, they were skipped. A little bit implied but no detailed stuff. So it's more tame than the prequel.

It was a sweet, free flowing and a bit combative kind of atmosphere. Recommended for short reads.🖒❤

I really wanted to like this one. It is quite funny and I like the MC. However the ML just doesn't do it for me, I don't feel any chemistry between them and the lack of plot doesn't really help. I felt so bored in the last 8%~ I did like the comedic aspects tho.

A cute and lighthearted story about two childhood friends/rivals to lovers that also happens to be set in the entertainment industry. I read the other book in this world, Your Memes Are Better Looking Than You, a while ago and really liked it, and finally I got around to reading this book as well.

Your Scandals Are Way Cuter Than You follows Jiang Ying, a low tier actor whose passions lie in fighting with others, whether it's online on Weibo, through an app called Fight, or even spectating an in-person fight between strangers. He also loves to collect dirt on other celebrities, especially his middle school deskmate and fellow actor, Qi Zhu. The two of them don't get along and are always squabbling over the stupidest things, but they've maintained their chat streak over the years and have never missed a day when they don't message each other.

I had a hard time getting into the story initially, especially because I was traveling and could only read in very short spurts, but eventually Jiang Ying grew on me. The story also gets funnier as he keeps digging bigger and bigger pits for himself, and there were a couple moments that had me bursting out into laughter. I was a bit torn about whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars, but eventually rounded down because the story is very light and it did start out slow.

Qi Zhu didn't really make much of an impression on me. He's your typical cold ML who speaks very little and doesn't show much emotionally, but it was nice to see how much he indulges JY. It was pretty obvious from early on that their supposed rivalry might not be as mutual as JY thinks. I'm glad JY eventually figured that out too, even if it took lots of convincing from random strangers on the Fight app. I was dying when he got assigned random questions like "Is ZhuiFengZhuYing shippable or not" XP

Here are some of my favorite scenes from the story:

When all of Qi Zhu's fans believe that Boss Crab is a hardcore Qi Zhu fan after Boss Crab vigorously defends him in Fight

But there were some other invitations that had a bit of… character. A few of those caught Jiang Ying's attention—

[Sister, I have a recording of Qi Zhu-gege's deep, sexy breathing sounds. All collected from various dramas. You want?]

[link][link]

Jiang Ying blinked. The fuck. No, he did not want.

[Sister, as I'm sure you know, it's impossible to be Qi Zhu-gege's fan without desiring his body. Take a look at these delicious photos of him in post-battle makeup. So alpha, so seductive.]

[image][image]

Jiang Ying blinked again. No, absolutely not. There was no desire. None.

[Sister, I have pics of Qi Zhu-gege's sexy abs. Wanna see?]

[image][image]

Jiang Ying, who accidentally tapped open one of those photos, blinked again.

Okay, so those really were some nice abs. Like. Really nice.

He was a bit salty about that.

But he seriously wasn't a fan. Last night, he'd really just wanted to win a fight. Why did no one believe him?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Qi Zhu is so smooth with their first date haha
From the moment he stepped out of the car to the end of that meal, Jiang Ying felt as though he were in a trance.
Qi Zhu, as logical as ever, gave a perfectly rational explanation that totally had no holes whatsoever: "I made the reservations a long time ago and forgot about them. Since you mentioned lunch, I remembered."
Jiang Ying said nothing to that.
And the red supercar in the underground garage? Had that car been teleported there, just by chance?
And the bouquet of red roses next to their table? Had they just magically bloomed on their own?
~~~~~~~~~~~

JY's ability to interpret his apprentice's chats is unparalleled XP

His apprentice's daily slight smile emoji, sent at the exact same time every night, was definitely a sign of his dissatisfaction.

If Jiang Ying didn't do something, wouldn't he lose this apprentice he'd always been so fond of? Unacceptable.

He had to win his apprentice over again.

[Fighter3357868]: SlightSmile.jpg

His apprentice had sent that an hour ago.

[Restless Boss Crab]: Apprentice-didi, I'm back. Cuteness.jpg

[Fighter3357868]: So you know how to come back. SlightSmile.jpg

Jiang Ying didn't know why, but he could practically feel resentment rolling off the screen of his phone.

Jiang Ying obviously hadn't done anything wrong, but he still inexplicably started to feel like the scum of the earth.

He blinked.

[Restless Boss Crab]: I've been too busy lately.

[Fighter3357868]: Mm.

Jiang Ying blinked again. He was doomed. This 'mm' clearly expressed the other party's immense dissatisfaction and deep-seated rage.

[Restless Boss Crab]: My IRL job has been keeping me busy.

[Fighter3357868]: Oh.

This 'oh' expressed the other party's doubt and disdain.

Jiang Ying perfectly interpreted it all.

[Restless Boss Crab]: Alright, I've been doing too many freestyle fights lately.

[Fighter3357868]: You also lost a lot.

His apprentice even knew that?!

Jiang Ying was a little surprised. Not only had Fighter3357868 sent him messages every day, he'd also watched Jiang Ying's fights?

His apprentice was straying farther and farther from the path of a good apprentice, and Jiang Ying himself—

Well, this was just outrageous.

I remember reading the first book in this series and not liking it that much so I didn't really have high hopes for this, but I honestly really liked this one. It was so cute and hilarious and it proved to me why the childhood friends-to-lovers trope is superior.

Jiang Ying (MC) is such a breath of fresh air - he's confident and self-aware, and I really liked his energy. He's also never pretended to be someone he's not and he isn't afraid to speak his truth. He loves fighting but he doesn't like bullying others and he really only fights back those who shits on him. Point is, he's got some solid principles and sticks to them, which I admire. And his other hobby involves squabbling with his long-time friend, Qi Zhu (ML), who's similar to him in that they're both self-assured and mature young men who know how to dish out arguments but QZ is much calmer and not as restless as JY. I loved their interactions though and even though they were always "arguing", it was just harmless stuff and they in fact respected each other.

The way their relationship developed gave me so much joy - because they're both celebrities and have always squabbled, people and their fans have always thought that they didn't get along and were enemies. So to outsiders, their relationship probably evolved from enemies to friends to lovers. It was hilarious mostly because of the reactions the fans and passersby had as JY and QZ's relationship progressed and was revealed online as they worked on a drama together. There were some parts where I literally laughed out loud, and it's mostly because JY isn't the type to take online opinions seriously so the overall vibe of the novel was lighthearted and even a little crack-ish.

And of course, it took a while for JY to realise his feelings and that QZ was pursuing him but even then he wanted to win by confessing first but through his relationship with QZ, he learned that he wouldn't think of only victory and defeat and he would learn to just feel from the bottom of his heart. And while JY was learning the more subtle feelings of the heart, QZ was learning how to fight and argue from QZ HAHAHA. Seriously, they're way too funny. But they were also really sweet. They really loved each other but I have to say that QZ is definitely the sappier of the two, doing and saying really sweet things to JY. Their happy ending was shared by all their fansa nd netizens as well, and I really liked how there was no homophobia in their universe as everyone congratulated them on getting together. In conclusion, this is uch a feel-good story.

EDIT : Okayyy i continue and finish it lol.

So this is might be 180 degrees different from my previous comment. Just forget them, and amnesia.

the story is very funny, hilarious, and adorable.

I can laugh with every MC's behavior. He's so good at making me chuckled. The way he dissed people are so brilliant. He's the typical MC that I adore. ML on the one hand is the type to stealthily attack. They have a dynamic rival to lover(but we will always fight)kind. Their relationship is close to ideal, not perfect, but very sweet and harmonious. Precisely because they often compete in many things (from past to present) , build a very good communication for each other. You will be made tenfold excited by their relationship, both as "Fight" ( you will understand what is this later) player or as actors or as couple. They were just.... unique, and cool in their own way.

Well actually what i dont really like, the story is very light and not too much drama, that somehow make me read this in hurry. Which i think is really unfortunate. If there is a conflict, there will solve soon, especially bcz our MC are too baddass to handle it haha. Maybe because its not a plot-wise focused. Its more into their daily lives in the showbiz industry and romance, probably. Nice.

Oh btw they have married licence 👍 and also prequel for brother's MC love story too (idk when will i read it)

I really enjoyed this one. I just find Jiang Ying so adorable and his chemistry with Qi Zhu as childhood "frenemies" was so good. I know some people find Qi Zhu too cold but this is my third novel of Mao Qiu Qiu and now I really could understand how to read between the lines in their stories. Mao Qiu Qiu writes such unreliable narrators who exaggerate or lie to themselves about their feelings and are quick to deflect with humor. But if you squint just enough, you can see how their words don't match their actions. Fortunately, Jiang Ying is very honest and self-aware so it's easier to see. And Qi Zhu's interest in Jiang Ying was written so well that I could feel it as soon as he appeared in the story and I was hooked immediately. This book helped me through my pain (from minor surgery and multiple chronic pain conditions and also other acute conditions) and made me laugh out loud several times. Would read it again soon!

It's a very cute story. No angst, lots of comedy. Childhood friends to sort of rivals (enemies in the public eye, they're actors) to lovers. Very cute dynamic. The MC is one of those 'feral child' types. He's hilarious. The ML indulges him a lot.

Another good novel to read if you like this one is Good God, Stop! (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...). Similar MCs, similar relationship dynamic, even though Good God, Stop! is about e-sports.

Overall, very lovely and adorable. Highly recommend for lovers of fluff and comedy.

I love their chemistry & dynamic. The best. But I feel the story a bit lacking..too short? Or less action on Qi Zhu part? (Unlike Jiang Xun who really took a lot of action in protecting & pempering GuWei). It focus too much on JY & his fighting, and some thing are not properly wrap. It's say a lot of candy, but we don't really taste the sweetness. I wish it has more interection between the two of them other than keep on fighting. 4.5 star from me

This book is so funny to read. I love Jiang Ying so much…. Hahahaaaa the plot is nice, also the characters. Author really portrayed Jiang Ying so well; I love his strong will. The couple love story is interesting too; when they realized they both liked each others, they just go for it, no unnecessary angst hahahaaa just so nice to read.

This is a sequel to 'Your Memes Are Better Looking than You'. It's one of the best danmei I've read recently, but the first book is still the best in my eyes.

It was an incredibly fun read. I finished it way too fast! I regret it now 🥺. I'll miss my fierce Boss Crab and his gege. Their relationship is everything I aspire to have.

((Sequel to the last book)) Honestly, there’s barely any plot, but the MC is so outrageous that you don’t need any. Actually such a crazy guy and the ML is so real for going along with his secret identity of being an infamous keyboard warrior who literally just spends the entire day arguing with people. My dream job.

Love Jiang Ying. I think it could have used more of Qi Zhu’s POV or more from him… I don’t feel like I know him besides loving Jiang Ying. All the side characters are great and I love the Fight! app.

Slightly better than the previous book, characters are better developed. I also like this couple's dynamic a bit more. I love Jiang Ying and his releteless will to fight, but also his care to know when and where to fight hahaha

เรื่องนี้จริงๆ ให้ 3.5 ดาว แต่เลือกกด 4 ดาวแทน 3 ดาว (กลัวจะโหดร้ายเกินไป 555)
ได้อ่าน "Your Memes Are Better Looking Than You" ที่เป็นเล่มก่อนหน้านี้

DNF - at chapter 23.

Not as interesting as it’s prequel so I found myself growing bored.

May pick up later on when I’m in the mood but for now the MC and ML aren’t all that interesting.
