Cute story. There were a few parts that dragged a bit, but overall it was quick and fun. My only complaint is that it’s never explicitly stated that the hero didn’t have sex during his years away from the heroine, and I found that to be a downer. It would’ve been far more thrilling and swoony if he had told her that he was never with anyone else. I also didn’t care for the fact that she didn’t say the same to him. There was no sense of him claiming her as HIS, no sense from him that “she’s mine” and it was really empty and kinda fell flat because of that. So while the story was cute, there was no swoon for me

WOW!! I couldn't put this one down. I absolutely love it!! This was a nice quick, short read.

Jasper and Evangeline knew each other growing up. Jasper would defend her when other kids picked on her. Evangeline always had a crush on Jasper and thought he was a bad boy from his bruises. They run into each other at the market and she finds out he's back in town for his dad's funeral. Gray and Nora come to Rosewood for the funeral, they find out that Jasper has been medical discharged from the army. The next day they ride together, they are the only ones at the funeral. Then they head back to the hotel and change to go and see what needs to be done to their father's home. When they get back to the hotel Jasper says his goodbyes, Gray and Nora will be leaving in the morning and Jasper has a doctors appointment he needs to head to. Evangeline heads to Jasper's old home, she parks behind a rental, as he's walking down the stairs of his old home. She finds out that he'll be in town a little longer than he planned, he asks her how her nursery is coming along. Jasper asks her out on a date and she accepts. The next night Jasper picks her up and asks her where she would like to go for dinner. They head to a restaurant and the waitress tries to flirt with Jasper but he ignores her. When Evangeline orders just a salad Jasper tells the waitress that instead of the salad she'll take a steak with macaroni and cheese. After the waitress leaves he asks her if it's was alright, she tells them she thought that what she was suppose to order on a date. He tells her he wants her to eat what she wants and be happy around him. She tells him she loves macaroni and cheese and he tells her he remembers. He tells her he remembers some of the things she ate in school and caught everything she did. She is shocked especially after he tells her she was the most beautiful girl at school. She tells him no she wasn't and he tells her she still is. They order dessert to go, and he asks her if she wants to do it again. She tells him okay, they head back to her home. They talk about why she never left Rosewood, and she asks him if he'll be sticking around. Before she gets out he asks her to have dinner with him tomorrow and she tells him she can't she has girls night. So he asks her what about the following night and she tells him it's a date. Jasper calls his brother, Gray when he gets back to his hotel and let him know he needs to tare down the old house and build new. Gray offers to come and help and Jasper accepts. Brooks calls Jasper after he hangs up with his brother to let him know he's coming back state side. So Jasper asks him to come to Rosewood and he'll have a place to stay. At girls night, they asks Evangeline about Jasper and she tells them about their date. When Brooks comes Jasper and him get to work taking out everything they can before the construction begins on the house. Jasper puts a call into Ender to watch over his brother Gray. When Brooks comes back and finds out Ender is with Gray in Pittsburgh, he thinks about going there. After their dinner Jasper takes Evangeline to get some ice cream, they start kissing. When they get back to Jasper new vehicle she asks him why he doesn't like Rosewood, he tells her about his abusive father and why he left to join the army. He asks her if she would like to go anywhere else and she tells him she's always wanted to go to Lookout Point. They start kissing and are getting comfortable with each other when her phone rings. Her mom needs someone to drive her home she went to the ER and has a sprained arm. Jasper shows up bright and early the next day to Evangeline's nursery's grand opening. He brings her coffee and donuts, then helps move this to open the doors. Soon Rowan and Sydney, Evangeline's best friends, show up to help out. Jasper leaves soon after he needs to meet up with the construction crew, he tells her he'll pick her up for dinner and she asks him if they can eat in. Jasper pick up Evangeline and heads to his hotel room, he shows her that he moved into a new room that has a small kitchen. He gives her flowers and chocolate before they start eating dinner. As they eat she asks him about his injuries and he doesn't want to keep anything from her so he tells her about his scares. He asks her how she got into gardening and she tells him about her grandfather, where he lived, and she tells him she wishes she could buy the house. Jasper asks her if she's ready for dessert and their eyes lock. He tells her they don't have to do anything, so she asks if she can see the bedroom again. She undoes the zipper of her dress and lets it fall to the floor. He tells her she is beautiful, she tells him it's his turn. Jasper strips his clothes off, and she tells him he's handsome. They go to the bed and he pleasures her, when he stands she knees in front of him and pleasures him. Soon he tells her he needs her and pulls her up, and places her on the bed. He goes slow at first but when she nods to him he thrust into her, she tells him she okay. They cuddle afterwords, she tells him that was good, he teases her asking just good and then flips her onto her hands and knees and enter her from behind. Gray and Nora come back to help out with the house, he asks Jasper what he's going to do once the house is finished. Gray tells him if he wants to keep the house he can, Jasper tells him he doesn't think he will. Evangeline has another girls night, she tells Rowan she'll watch her daughter Harper while she catches up on some sleep. They talk about Jasper and if he's going to be staying in Rosewood, she doesn't want to open her heart just yet until he decides where he'll be living. Rowan and Sydney tells her to just talk to Jasper about what his future will be. Jasper notices Evangeline pulling away from him, so he heads to the nursery. He asks her what he did wrong so he can fix it, she tells him she's never leaving Rosewood. She tells him she wants to know what he's going to be doing and where he's going to be living. He tells her he hasn't made any decisions yet. She tells him she needs to protect herself and her heart. She tells him he can hurt her she doesn't want to get any more attached if he's going to leave soon. He tries to speak but he's not sure what he wants to do. She asks him if he wants to stay in Rosewood. When he still can answer her she turns and runs to her truck and leaves. Jasper finishes up and locks up before he heads back to his hotel. A week later and Evangeline hasn't heard or seen Jasper. Her friends are worried about her. She's about to lock up. for the night when she sees Jasper pull in. He tells her he needs to talk to her. She asks him how he's been she heard he went to Pittsburgh, he tells her he went to see his brother. His brother is engaged now, he wanted to celebrate with them. He tells her he went to see his brother also so that they could attend group therapy sessions together. He is also going to go to the VA for group session on some of the things he went though. She tells him she is glad he is getting help. He tells her he messed up, the week without her taught him that he needs her he's miserable without her. She asks him if it would be better if he left Rosewood. He tells her he doesn't want to leave her, he wants to be with her. She asks him if he's sure and he tells her he's so sure he bought a house. He pulls the papers out of his pocket and hands them to her. When she reads them over she realizes he bought her grandparents house. He tells her he know how much she loves the house and hopes that she'll move in with him eventually. He tells her he loves her and she tells him she loves him too. He tells her he doesn't care where they live as long as he has her. When they get back to his hotel room they strip off their clothes, she tells him she loves him and he tells her he loves her too. She tells him she's glad he came back, he tells her there's no where he'd rather be. Five years later, they have a two year old son, Noah and are expecting a second child they know it's a girl. They're in Pittsburgh visiting Gray and Nora, they've been married for four years. They got engaged on their one year anniversary, she moved in with him six months before that. Jasper has been working with Evangeline at the nursery so she can run the landscaping business. She tells him she loves him and he tells her he loves her too. If you had told him five years ago that he would be happily living in Rosewood, working at his wife’s greenhouse and nursery, and in therapy, he probably would have laughed in your face.

Jasper is a former military man with some past traumas. He’s heading to his hometown to handle some family business and runs across his high school crush, Evangeline. He can’t help but pursue her like he never got to before. It doesn’t take long to realize they each had a crush on one another. Evangeline and Jasper are so sweet and passionate together! Their story has a lot of depth that we don’t always get in novellas. You do not want to miss the is 2nd chance-adjacent romance! And bonus, you meet a bunch of side characters that already have their own stories!

Another day another shitty justification for abandonment.

I'm so sick of authors writing trauma as some sort of blanket justification for why their heroes are allowed to hurt the heroine. Especially if the trauma is childhood trauma that has fuck all to do with the h. It's not her fault you're fucked up emotionally so why are you taking it out on her?

H takes h's virginity and then promptly skips town without a word after making her cry in the parking lot of her nursery. Then he returns and says he bought her grandparent's old home and that he wants to "try" to make the relationship work.

Jasper was so fucking wishy washy. It was so annoying. He uses his emotional state as an excuse for yanking Evangeline around and quite frankly he has way too much power in the relationship dynamic and she just accepts it.

Everything is done on his whim. He doesn't feel like he wants to talk about the future? He dips. Things get too real? He dips. Without even telling her, he leaves town and is radio silent to the point that she has to hear from other people that he ghosted her and just left town.

That's behavior indicative of a person who doesn't have the emotional maturity for a relationship let alone someone who even gives a shit about you.

Then he shows back up and says that he loves her and all is forgiven? Weak heroine.

HEA- epilogue w/ kids

2/5🌟Jasper seems like the type of man that's too much like his father and would abandon his family the moment shit gets hard and their HEA was super unbelievable. His little brother was more mature and his story was much more interesting and HEA more believable. Gray

**I received a copy of Always in exchange for an honest review.
Actual rating is 3.5 stars.

Always is almost a second chance romance.

I mean these  love birds liked each other in high school, but because of life circumstances they never really acted on those feelings. Fast-forward to the present and life has brought them back  together.

Jasper is back to Rosewood after being hurt in the military, being discharged and his father dying. He wants to make this trip a really short one, bury his father, sell the property and get out of town.

The problem with his plan? Evangeline.

Evangeline always had a soft spot for Jasper. Even though everyone in town thought he was a "bad" guy for always having bruises and being a secluded kid. Everyone just assumed he was always up to no good, when in reality his abusing father was always getting drunk and hurting him and his brother.

Against all odds, Evangeline developed a crush on him because of his good heart. He was always standing up for her when she was bullied in school. So naturally she liked him.

Now that Jason is back in town Evangeline can admit to herself she never really got over her crush on him and it might appear that he might also be fond of her.

Our dear Evan is soon opening her dream business, a flower shop/nursery and with Jasper not knowing what he plans to do now that he is no longer in the military, Evangeline is daring to hope he might stay in town for good. The only problem with that hope?

Jasper is not sure he wants to move back to a town with the only good memory he has, is her.

Told in dual POV, with Always we get to read a very cute, very sweet love story, about two souls made for each other,  with a possible future full of love. They just have to decide what is more important to them, the past? Or what the future might hold, if they can let go of the old bitter memories and start creating new ones.

This is book number 1 in the Rosewood series and focuses on Jasper and Evangeline. We met Jasper in his brother Gray's book (Gray- Eye Candy Ink: Second Generation) when they come back to Rosewood to bury their dad. At 18, Jasper left Rosewood to join the military so he would be able to provide for Gray since there dad was an abusive drunk. He had no plans to return to the place that held so many awful memories for him but he did. He is recently out of the military due to an attack that left him pretty injured. When he returns, he sees the girl he always loved but never acted on because he didn't feel like he had anything to offer her back then when he was barely surviving. Evangeline fell for Jasper when they were teens but also never made her feelings known. With him back in town, Jasper dives in head first with Evangeline and they both fall hard and fast. Unfortunately old and new scars don't heal overnight and Jasper is struggling with his childhood pain, his memories from war, and his physical injuries so it makes figuring out what he wants in life more difficult. I absolutely loved that this book showed the healing that both Jasper and Gray got over the years and how he was able to find a home in a town that brought so many bad memories with it. This was such a wonderful story and a great start to the series!

BOOK:-HOMECOMING HEROES-A MILITARY ROMANCE ANTHOLOGY BY C.H.JAMES
BOOK REVIEWER-OKOKO AYEZU TAMARAPREYE
BOOK ONE:-ALWAYS BY SHAW HART.
A military prose set in Rosewood Germany, about the high school mates character Jasper Mack Mackelroy and Evangeline Evàn Rauley in which they take turns to narrate. The story is about Jasper's home return for his father's funeral(fun-air-al/era with fun for reading or book in ijaw) which was not a real loss with bruises and his meeting Evan who has a desire to open a Garden nursery and flower shop just like her Grandpa who used to have a garden. It also tells on a second leg about Jasper's meeting and invitation of military mate Brooks for a catch-up in a room with two(pronounced to) bed(be aired/be erred ) even as he heals and grows out his beards(be erred). We see a Jasper who loves Evangeline and wants to be with(wee-T) you(hue) to make memories(make me-more-ri's with ri for eat in ikwerre and me for do in ikwerre) as a home cuming he row.It raises questions on choice of career based on job availability ;whether the male parent had to pass on before the female and whether ones female parent was one's "fa/far-meal-lee" with fa for "no"or "absence of" in ijaw.

Jasper is heading back to Rosewood after being medically discharged from the military, to arrange for his father's funeral. He never thought he would return to the small town that thought him a trouble maker, when he really was a victim of abuse from his father. He does not plan on staying in permanently. Jasper sees Evangeline, he loved her since high school but never acted on it.

Evangeline has never left her small town, she saved her money to open her own nursery. She had a crush on Jasper back in high school but she was never the sort of girl guys noticed.

This is the first of the three stories of three friends, Evangeline, Rowan and Syndey finding their HEA. This is sweet and steamy story, with a character suffering from PSTD from military service and child abuse. Jasper brother is Gray from the Eye Candy Ink Second Generation by Shaw. The pain these two men feel about the past jumps off the page.

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although it does deal with some delicate subject matter like child abuse and PTSD. The characters were interesting and likable. Jasper was amazing. If I'd been in his shoes I don't think that I would have done anything with the property and I definitely wouldn't have done anything about a funeral. Jasper and Gray working on their issues together at therapy was both sad and heartwarming. Jasper came back to Rosewood to deal with his father's funeral and his house but didn't want to be there. He was happy to see Evangeline again. Evangeline was still in Rosewood and still just as sweet as she was when they were younger. She had a crush on Jasper back then and was definitely attracted to him now that he was all grown. Their interactions were sweet and steamy. I loved them together. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

I was familiar with these two from Jasper's brother's book Gray. Jasper and his brother had been through a lot in this town and were both struggling with having to come back to deal with their fathers stuff. Evangeline grew up with them but had the opposite type of home life and didn't know what he was dealing with as a teen. He just seemed like the town bad boy. Both were interested in each other but neither made a move then Jasper was gone into the military. While it felt lighter than Gray's book to me, this one still tugged at my heart. The reconnection started slow and gained speed before doubts crept in. Very emotional and we definitely get a HEA with these two that is well deserved for both characters.

This story was fantastic and I absolutely loved it. So much feelings, pain, loss, and new love is all in this story. I just want to hug and squeeze Jasper. This was a great book and I can not wait for the next book in this series.

Jasper is back at his home town after being injured in the army and finding out his dad passed away. He soon runs into Evangeline and all the feelings he had for her back in high school come rushing back. Back then he never made a move on her because he never thought he was good enough for her, but now that he is older he wont give up.
All through high school Jasper was the only person who stood up for her and did not pick on her. Evangeline even secretly had a crush on him the whole time too. Years later she sees him and her feelings have not changed.

I thought that this was a really good book. I am really glad that we finally get Jasper and Evangeline' story! These two were great together. I really enjoyed the connection and the chemistry between these two; their crushes have been able to last through the years. Now, that Jasper has come back home, Jasper and Evangeline are able to reconnection with each and try to have a relationship that they always wanted. There is a little bit of drama between Jasper and Evangeline but these two are able to talk and work their issues and get a really sweet HEA. I can't wait to read the other books in this series. I would recommend this book and Ms. Shaw as awesome author.

Evan and Jasper were high school best friends and had secret crushes at the time. Years later, he is out of the military, has PTSD and comes back to his hometown to bury his dad who had severely abused him and his brother, and settle the estate. So many bad memories for him... except for Evangeline. She grew up with just her mom and little else, but has saved to start a flower shop/nursery.
The characters are wonderful together, with deep emotions and feelings going every which way, grounding them so they can deal with the past. The storyline has plenty of misconceptions, drama, surprises, and romance. Loved the way they connected and pulled each other through to the future. Great ending.

Jasper and Evangeline are adorable together. He’s a wounded military veteran returning to the small town he ran from a decade earlier. She’s the girl who pined for him from afar and was sad to see him go. When they meet again the feelings they harbored for each other resurface and it is on. I really enjoyed watching them overcome their personal issues and take a chance on being each other’s forever. Jasper and Evangeline’s happily ever after was sweet and sexy.. I’m giving Always the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval. TBR and Enjoy!

I received this as an arc for my honest review

This was a wonderful story and I loved it from the first page. I love stories that are tied to past stories and this was, so we got a nice visit from Gray and Nora. This was Gray’s brother Jasper’s story. I really liked that this storyline paralleled that of Gray, both brothers finding their HEA at the same time was a nice twist. I liked that both Jasper and Evangeline had liked each other as teens but didn’t act on it, now their relationship was just so much better. I really loved reading this story.

Evangeline and Jasper

This second chance romance is so sweet and moving! I love the history between Evangeline and Jasper and the newness of a budding romance. Dealing with so much turmoil which leads him back to his hometown of Rosewood, the only bright light is Evangeline. Through ups and downs of dealing with PTSD, both from his old home life and a near tragic accident in the military, they find their way to their HEA.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Jasper and Evangeline never got their chance when they were younger. When he comes back to town they reconnect and the attraction is still strong. Jasper and his brother were thought of as the bad boys around town but there was much that people did not know. Jasper was scarred by his past and Evangeline heals his heart. They both have to trust their hearts and each other to have a happy future together. I enjoyed their love story

Always was a great beginning to the Rosewood Series by Shaw Hart. I loved the connection between Evangeline and Jasper. Jasper never wanted to return to Rosewood but he has little choice when he gets the call that his dad has died. He is surprised to see Evangeline, one of the only bright spots from his abusive childhood. As they spend time together, Jasper has to decide what to do with with his life now that he is medically discharged from the military. Evangeline has quickly fallen for Jasper but will their love be enough to make Jasper want to stay?

Always was a sweet and satisfying start to falling in love with the Rosewood series. Jasper and Evangeline have had feelings for each other since they were kids, and it was beautiful to see their relationship bloom i their small hometown. If you love an H who secretly always stood up for his girl and put his brothers happiness and health before his own this is going to be a good one for you. The whole story was so comforting to read, and we finally got the healing between Jasper and his younger brother! I had such a great time reading this one and can’t wait for more couples!

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Jasper and Evangeline and does not let go. Jasper returns to his hometown to bury his father but does not want to be there with all the horrible memories of his childhood. However, Evangeline is the one bright light that draws him in. What will he have to do in order to keep Evangeline in his life?

A friend to lovers romance that delves into serious themes while still maintaining the focus on Evangeline and Jasper's developing connection. With an array of secondary characters, candid moments that lead you to become invested in the story and a sweet slow-building romance, this book made for a great start to a series. I enjoyed the main characters, their romance and the range of emotions brought to the page. I can't wait to read more about these friends!

Wonderful story

This story had a bevy of different emotions. A bad home life and the horrors of war bring on an emotional toll that's difficult to deal with, finding an old love from the past is till there helps give courage to work through it all. This was a wonderful and heartwarming new beginning for Jasper and Evangeline. I loved it and highly recommend everyone read this book.

Always is a amazing second chance story of Evangeline and Jasper. Young crushes when the were kids, but feeling and pain that pushed them away had a way of bringing them back together. Jasper has returned to town to handle his father's estate, and finds the one he thought he was not good enough for.

Great story that will warm your heart and have you lost in each turn of the pages.

Evangeline and Jasper 3.5*

Jasper is back in Rosewood, the last place he wanted to be but after being discharge from the military and his drunken father's death he need to sort things out befits moving on. The last thing he expects is to come across Evangeline, the girl he always had a crush on but never thought himself worthy of her. But when their relationship evolves he doesn't know if it is enough to make him stay. Highly recommended

Jasper and Evangeline are so good together, their story is full of emotions, connection and chemistry. It is a story of a second chance, of pasts, pain, loss, steam and plenty of love. The story moves along well and holds your interest.

The first book in the Rosewood series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Evangeline “Evan” Rauley and Jasper “Mack” Mackelroy's story as they get their second chance, and he is able to let go of somethings from his past. The story was well worth reading. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
