When I read the synopsis for this book and saw some teasers from Courtney, I knew I wanted to read this book! Is there anything better than a misunderstood Duke and a young miss who doesn’t care about titles in her search of true love? Here for it! I enjoyed these characters so much. I love the secret alliance because you know where it’s going to lead! This book had some fun twists and turns that made it original and its own story!

I am super excited for book 2 in this series!! Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Content wise - there was mention of casual infidelity (nothing detailed) and mild swearing.

Although I enjoyed the story, it had some bad language, mostly the d word😕, that in my opinion could have been left out. It always takes away from the story for me. It didn’t have any sex, but indiscretions were mentioned frequently, including marital affairs, which I hate to read about. I enjoyed the characters, and have jumped right in to book 2, I’m only hoping the author leaves out the language.

2.5 stars rounded to 3, purely because I've been on a real 2-star tear lately and my goodreads average rating requires intervention.

This wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly gripping either. Isabel is secretly engaged to a merchant's son who she hasn't seen for over a year (their relationship spans several years). Her parents are social climbers so she knows their blessing of this relationship would be unlikely. She finds herself at the duke's home at a house party that his mother hosts every year, and she's been invited specifically to catch the duke's eye. Which brings us to James. James doesn't want to marry. The reason is (and full spoilers) he suspects that he's illegitimate and since his mother won't confirm or deny this, he doesn't feel worthy of the title and therefore avoids most of the responsibilities associated e.g. participating in parliament, heirs etc. Anyway, he also has a complicated relationship with his mother because she's had extramarital affairs which led him to doubt his legitimacy to begin with and rah rah.

In terms of the overall plot of the book, it was just fine. I found that there were a LOT of characters to keep track of at the house party. There were the invited guests and also James's two friends. The author did attempt to make them distinct and memorable by giving them a signature caricaturist trait but this didn't hold much water. And to be honest I quickly gave up in trying to keep track of the other characters beyond James and Isabel.

James and Isabel for their part begin to bond over their secrets. Her secret engagement and his fear that he's illegitimate. It was okay, I just wasn't invested in these characters at all. I also found them to be emotionally inconsistent. For example Jame's relationship with his mother wasn't written well in my opinion. There were moments he deeply despised her and in the next moment it was more apathetic and at times even understanding and empathetic. All in the same couple of paragraphs! It wasn't a satisfying relationship to read about. Even when their central conflict is addressed there's no satisfaction. It turns out James is legitimate however his mother had had an affair that resulted in a daughter being born who was given away.

In any case, James and Isabel eventually fall for each other and he puts his feelings on her line. Although Isabel returns his feelings she rejects him out of loyalty to her affianced. She immediately regrets this but James is already gone. She ties up her loose ends by ending things with her merchant. I had deep frustrations with how this was handled. Isabel had been emotionally cheating on this man for weeks. And she does kiss James also. She recognises she has to take accountability. Which is great. But then in this eleventh hour, at the very end of the book, our first time meeting this off-scene character, the author completely villainizes him. He's abrasive and rude and turns out he only wanted to marry Isabel for her money. I just don't think this was necessary. Why can't Isabel just make this different and yes difficult choice instead of it being made to feel that whew, thank goodness she chose the duke since the merchant who was a terrible person, therefore she didn't break his heart after all.

Anyway, it was a fine read - I finished it and don't feel deep rage within me, more apathy than anything.

I always love finding new Regency romance authors to read. I was definitely impressed by Courtney Willis and am excited to read more of her stories! This is an enemies to allies to lovers story that was unique and definitely kept me turning the pages. The plot centers around a lovably irritable duke who believes his past precludes him from marriage and his title. So, when his flighty mother shows up uninvited to his estate with a slew of guests, he immediately resents her visit and interference in his life.

Isabel is one of the young women who’s been invited to the house party by the Dowager Duchess. Unlike the other young women, she’s not interested in marriage. She has her own secret engagement she’s hiding, especially from her parents. When circumstances present an opportunity for Isabel and James to share their secrets, they decide to forge an alliance. They will keep each other company to protect themselves from other marriage minded guests. When the last thing happens that neither expects, Isabel and James must decide if they can let go of their pasts to find a happy future.

I enjoyed the moody, irascible hero with a soft heart. I’m always a sucker for the Mr. Darcy/Mr. Rochester type and James fits this bill. I was particularly impressed by Isabel’s character. She’s a strong woman who strives to be loyal. I admired her honesty and the way she’s willing to stick firmly beside her past decisions even when tempted not to. Yet, she’s also bold in seeking the truth and finding real happiness. I enjoyed her artistic talents and the way painting played a definitive role in the story.

All in all, a really enjoyable novel. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series. There are a few minor swear words here and there, but nothing truly offensive. There are also mentions of infidelity but with no major details. I received a copy of the arc from the author but also ended up purchasing the Kindle version from Amazon. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

“The next four weeks would undoubtedly be a torment, attempting to hide from her house party, but at least he had his two friends to suffer with him.”

“The life of the wealthy and noble often included a life without love, and Isabel was determined not to fall into the same trap”

“Clearly this man did not want to be caught, so she could give the appearance of trying to win him, and then, when the end of the house party came, she could walk away unattached. Because the truth of it was, she couldn’t become engaged to the Duke of Norland when she was already secretly engaged to someone else.”

“Isabel defined honor a little bit differently, as someone living true to themselves and not according to society’s demands. So she would continue to push against them, especially if it meant she could have a chance at love”

“His candor allowed Isabel a moment to relax. “Not to worry, Your Grace. You’ll not receive any advances or entrapments from me.”

“Isabel took a deep breath and nodded. “Very well. The truth of the matter is, though the duchess may wish us to be together, it can never be, for I am already engaged to another man. In secret.”

“He held her gaze for another moment until he finally said, “Very well. Your secret is safe with me.” He extended his hand, which Isabel took. “I will be your ally in this situation, for no other reason than to pull the wool over my mother’s eyes for once.”

“The duke certainly was not the man she had expected, nor what everyone else around the breakfast table anticipated either”

“Miss Hastings was certainly different from how he’d originally imagined her. She was not a desperate harpy out to lure a duke into marriage, and he found that trait alone the most intriguing.”

“He had no desire to pull Miss Hastings away from the man she admired so, but now that he knew a woman like her existed, for the first time, he was sincerely disappointed he would not be a marrying man.”

“Isabel would still go home at the end of the month and hopefully marry her fiancé someday, but while she was here, she could at least try to figure out a way to protect the duke’s name from gossip”

“But still, whenever she passed his hand or paused across from him, her smile radiated, and he was pleased to see that she was happy at Wynnwood Park, that she could find a way to enjoy the company. His company.”

“Isabel later learned it was in the shop that day, that the duchess had picked the bride for her son the moment she caught a glimpse of Isabel”

“The Duke of Norland chuckled, and the sound settled over her heart, making Isabel want to capture it and guard it forever.”

“The sight of her brought a strange sensation to his chest, a thrill and a contentment at once, and this troubled him”

“of all the women the duchess had brought to house parties in attempts to marry off her son, Miss Hastings was the only one who came close to the type of woman James would consider marrying. If he ever were to marry.”

“He was such a genuine person, almost more than anyone she’d ever met, and it made her feel continuously drawn to him.”

“Then pausing to press his lips together, he said, “And I see the way he looks at you, though I cannot quite deduce where you stand on the matter.”

“Very well. The truth is, of all the gentlemen present, the only one I could see myself happily paired with is you.”

“I’m happy it’s you as my ally, Your Grace, and I’m grateful I can call you my friend.”

“when I saw Miss Hastings in the modiste shop, I had hoped she’d be the right girl for you. This time, I think I’m right. You’ve smiled more with her than I’ve seen from you in years”

“Once she left, she’d be bound to be a merchant’s wife, so all their ties would be broken anyway. This could very well be his one chance at a life of love and happiness, and he couldn’t pass it up now.”

“She couldn’t leave without knowing how he felt, or without giving him a confirmation on how she felt, else he would always wonder and damn himself forever.”

“With each hand exchange, with each shared glance, he came to the realization: he loved this woman, and he would be a fool if he didn’t at least try to fight for her”

“he had no doubt he’d look forward to everyday for the rest of his life if she were with him.”

“James shook his head, taking a stabilizing breath. “I mean, stay with me. Be my wife.”

“I’ve fallen in love with you, Isabel. I know you’re engaged to another, but I had to tell you. If you must leave here tomorrow, then I will not stop you, but I couldn’t let you leave without knowing the truth.”

“Please believe me when I say how sincerely I care for you, more than I ever thought I would. More than I should. But I am already engaged to marry another, and I must honor that.”

“How could she have thought rejecting the duke was the right decision? She was in love with him”

“Though she thought she had found love with Gilbert, she now knew the difference from feeling the real thing, but to end the engagement after promising herself to him so long ago did not feel honorable either”

“a conviction began to grow in her heart: she couldn’t marry Gilbert. Not now, when she knew what she knew about love. It wasn’t right to consign Gilbert to a wife who only married him out of duty.”

“Her heart sank. She was too late. The devastation and disappointment made her soured stomach worse”

“When she pulled back, her eyes sparkled with delight.
“Friend and ally, confidante and lover,” she repeated. “I can think of nothing better”

“Now that she was back in his arms, he was determined not to let her go.”

“You know I am no romantic, that I have no sweetness of character, but I consider myself a lucky man that I can call you my wife the remainder of my days.”

It's so refreshing to read a Regency romance novel where the two leads DON'T WANT to get married to each other instantly! I hate insta love where one of the characters instantly is set on marriage, it's weird! In this case however the Duke is a super grumpy guy who has a reputation for being not very nice (hence the Undesirable Duke) and Isabel is actually secretly engaged. To make the house party easier on them both they agree to pretend an attachment, which works out in the long run because a true friendship develops which JUST MIGHT turn to love. You will have to read the book to find out if they do! Looking forward to more in this series!!

The Undesirable Duke by Courtney Willis

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Story Notes

Courtney Willis brings Regency readers a story of love between a surly duke determined never to marry and a spirited young woman who only views him with friendship in mind.

I love when I know from the first few lines that a story is going to be a new favorite for me. I’m always a fan of grouchy male MCs but this had the unexpected addition of a plucky lady who had no plans to marry this duke because of her own secret engagement. However, in order to get what they want – or get what they think what they want – they have to survive the house party they are duty bound to accept. The story begins with James, Duke of Norland, surprised by the very early arrival of his mother at their country estate. Given that he does all in his power to avoid being in her presence more than respect requires, James is frustrated by her unexpected arrival. The news that she has brought several sets of unmarried young men and women with her is further reason for him to descend into surly silence. He agrees to let them stay if she agrees to him not attending their events and plans. Isabel Hastings was required by her parents to accept the invitation of the Dowager Duchess of Norland to her country estate in the hopes she will make a match with the current duke. But Isabel has plans of her own and they do not include acquiring the duke as a husband given she has already been secretly engaged these past several years. Her first meeting with the duke is less that ideal as he accuses her of only attending his mother’s party for her own mercenary gain. However, Isabel can hold her own with the grumpy duke and meets his barbs with plenty of her own. She takes him in her confidence about her engagement and slowly convinces him that she isn’t interested in his title. But now, she’s a puzzle to him – how can she be so loyal to her fiance when everyone else sees them as a good match? As the house party proceeds, friends and alliances will be made and truths will be told that will affect everyone. Will James set aside his pain and resentment from the past and offer forgiveness or will he let a chance at real love slip through his fingers? And will Isabel discover that there is more to this oft-grouchy man who carries secrets and pain and projects a wall of pride to others? Come read this marvelous story and find out!

I really enjoyed diving into this story and its engaging characters. There was the idea of “enemies to lovers” but it wasn’t presented in a trite way. Everything was given a new fleshing out with plenty of depth and feeling to make it unique. Courtney did not shy away from telling of the sometimes brutal realities of life but everything was told in a beautiful way that made the story flow well. There was a bit of crass language but the addition of it gave the characters bulk rather than giving offense to the reader. I’m not a fan of unnecessary language but the words she allowed showed the lifestyle and way of speaking of the male characters before confronted with reasons not to speak in such ways. The slow reveal of James’ past was very well done and kept me reading to find out how everything would be explained. The agony of James letting go of his anger and discovering a reason to love was so good and made my heart hurt to see him so free but lost. The ending of the story was just perfect, with everyone getting what they deserved. And, not to spoil anything, but I officially HATE Gilbert – you can read to find out why. I’m very much looking forward to Henry’s story as he needs someone to take him down a peg or two. I’ll definitely be recommending this story and the series to others as one not to miss. Well done with this one, Courtney!!

This is my first book by Courtney Willis and I enjoyed it. This is book 1 in the Reluctantly in Love series.

James Barrington it's the Duke of Norland and prefers life at his country estate where he is hosting a couple of friends to do what men do out in the country. But when his mother makes her annual appearance unannounced and brings a house party along with her, James wants nothing to do with her matchmaking ways and steers clear of it all.

Isabel Hastings is a guest of the house party and she's been earmarked by the Dowager Duchess specifically for snagging the duke. But Isabel doesn't want to snag him and this works out good because James doesn't want to be snagged. To put James at ease, Isabel confides that she is actually engaged to someone, so once that pressure is off both of them, they relax in each other's company and become friends and allies. But James confides in her too... He's long believed that he is illegitimate and therefore has not attended Parliament nor wanted to make a match since he feels like he's living in limbo. Much of the drama rests on this storyline and his mother. But at the same time, Isabel hasn't seen her fiance in a long time, but they still exchange letters. When Isabel's feelings for James begin to grow, she suppresses them knowing her plans with her fiance are starting to take shape. But when James learns of his true lineage and starts falling for Isabel, her loyalty is tested. Then James emerges with a young woman at his side...

This was a good book, but not a great one. There are a lot of characters to try and keep straight and eventually I just kind of gave up and tried to keep to the main character stuff. The whole point of James' mother's party was for matchmaking and James' two friends were eager to participate just to mess up all his mother's matching. It was fun to watch but got confusing after a while. I really liked Isabel and James but I needed more from them. I liked that after sharing their secrets they became friends because they felt they weren't a threat to each other. But we needed more moments that brought them closer, making them see more and more how much they were truly good for each other. James does take a chance and tells Isabel he loves her and she loves him but her loyalty weighs heavy and prevents her from telling him. James and his mother's relationship was a bit weird and it all boiled down to secrets. But it seemed like if his mother could just give him a straight answer it would have cleared things up. She was so wishy-washy, I was getting frustrated with her.

This is a new author for me and I am not opposed to reading more but I'm not overly excited about the next book in the series. I may shelve it for now. This is a 3 star book for me. Zero steam. This is a clean, sweet read, with kisses and embraces only.

The Undesirable Duke She Comes To Know

This is a first time author for me and I totally enjoyed this story. The characters are well written and the house party is fun with more than one conflict that needs to be solved.

Since the death of his father, James Barrington, Duke of Norland, hasn't returned to London to take his seat in Parliament or to enjoy the London Seasons. His attitude has gotten him the nickname of the Undesirable Duke. There are whispers about his paternity among the servants and his mother's actions over the years has seemed to give those whispers credence. The relationship between the two of them has been difficult over the years especially when she brings her yearly house party to his estate, with the chosen woman she has picked for him that year to marry. This year he refuses to go along with her plans and he immediately snubs the chosen young lady. Surprised by Isabel Hastings responses to his curtness, he may just to have to change his plans to find out more about her.

Isabel Hastings has seen the horrible marriages that her siblings have entered into due to her parents arrangements. She doesn't want anything to do with their upward reaching plans so she will not be attempting to trap the Duke into marriage while she attends the house party. After her first irritating interactions with the Duke- she wants to make it known to him that she is not interested in marrying him. She even shares with him, her secret engagement to another man. This conversation seems to change the interaction between the two of them leading them to comfortably interact. What happens between them as this house party continues may not be what either one of them expected.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Beautiful Story . . .

James Barrington, Duke of Norland, is not at all happy with his mother who has arrived early to hold a house party. He had not expected her this soon and did not appreciate his staff being pressured to deal with this, although his mother calmly informed him that was what they were there for. He knows she is hoping to marry him off to one of her attendees. He has no intention of cooperating. He just wants this month-long house party to be over.

Isabel Hastings bumped into the angry, grouchy man as she looked for the dowager duchess who summoned her. He called her a child and was rude. But she wasn’t worried that she would have to win his favor. He was totally disinterested in marriage, and Isabel was already secretly engaged to another man, a merchant’s son, Gilbert. She would marry for love, not for a loveless marriage of title and wealth like her parents and siblings. She wasn’t willing to live that lie. But the Duke continued making snide remarks about her trying to trick him into marriage, so she had to confide in him about her engagement, just so he knew he was “safe”. He agreed to keep her secret, and she started to see a different side of him, a side she began to appreciate and even like. And both of them felt a change in their attitudes as they were more relaxed and more attentive to each other. James even found himself wishing he could marry someone like Isabel. But she was one of a kind and she was engaged. And Isabel couldn’t keep her eyes off of James, realizing his smile lighted the room when he saw her. And she realized she had been putting off answering Gilbert’s letter. What was happening to them? Will either of them recognize what has changed before it’s too late and they go their separate ways?

James, the Duke of Norland, is an unhappy soul. James believes that he's illegitimate and is fearful of being found out. He has two close friends; otherwise, he hides at his country estate. Mother and son are at odds with each other. James doesn't understand the relationship between his parents but adores his father and tolerates his mother. Now that the old duke has died, James doesn't expect to know what happened between the duke and duchess.

When his mother arrives with her annual house party, James is furious. It is a matchmaking exercise to find a suitable spouse for her son -- and others. The secondary characters could have used some fleshing-out.  The dowager duchess picked out Isabel for James. She's educated, well-dowered, and has a commendable ability with a paintbrush. However, unbeknownst to anyone but Gilbert Howard, Isabel is secretly engaged to a merchant's son. However, Isabel's parents want her to marry aristocracy, not a working man.

When Isabel shares her secret with James, they forge a partnership to protect themselves from the others in the marriage-seeking group. Isabel is honorable; she sticks with her engagement even when James offers marriage. Even though she realizes that she loves James with an adult's love, she honors her pledge to another.

However, she realizes that she -- and Gilbert -- would be miserable if she married him. So, she breaks off the engagement and gets the shock of her life.

This clean, historical novel starts at the Duke of Norland's country estate where the Duchess, his mother, is hosting her annual house party. She turns these annual parties into matchmaking parties and this one is no exception. Her chosen debutante is Miss Isobel Hastings whom she is hoping will be the ideal match for her elusive, grumpy son. His reputation has been put into question when a scandal in his parents' past affects him. Isabel has never intended to be married for advantageousness only but for love. She has been secretly engaged to a merchant for a few years and her and the Duke after a rocky first meeting, form a friendship and become each other's champions. Both are not interested in each other initially but that changes as their relationship develops. Both characters were likeable and realistic, the storyline was well developed and I really enjoyed this lovely story. I rate it 4.5*. This is a clean romance (only kissing) and no swearing.

"He had no desire to pull Miss Hastings away from the man she admired so, but now that he knew a woman like her existed, for the first time, he was disappointed he would not be a marrying man."

James has become a master at avoiding his mother's ploys to secure a wife for him. This year shouldn't be different. But Isabel who has been tasked with securing the Duke's hand before this year's impromptu house party ends, is secretly engaged to someone else!

When she confides in the duke in order to put him at ease, she finds an ally and a friend. Knowing that neither of them has a hidden agenda, they finding themselves seeking out each other's company more and more.

This was an adorable story and I loved watching their friendship blossom. Romances where one character is already engaged can easily become uncomfortable and feel like they are treading dangerously close to cheating, however, I think the author was quite mindful of that and managed to work with it well. They were absolutely delightful together and I was taken with the book from beginning to end! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What is love?
I have to be honest it took me some time to get into the story it seemed a bit slow maybe it was just me. The book did catch my interest after the first few chapters and I enjoyed the story. James and Isabel did not have a great first meeting he was in a foul mood. This one was a bit of a rollercoaster in the relationship to the emotions of the characters, and they are so many secrets. It did make it interesting, and the introduction of Miss Clay got my attention. In truth I felt sorry for Gilbert and then he totally messed that up with this reader. It ended well, and I am glad I read the piece I am very happy to recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is my first book by Courtney Willis and I have to say I loved IT! I enjoyed the flow of the story and the development of the friendship between the main characters, James and Isabel. This is one of the few romance books I've read where the main characters developed a friendship and comradery without wanting to marry immediately. I loved that the beginning of the book gave the the illusion of an "enemies to lovers," but it allowed for a great friendship. I loved reading every chapter of this book and can't wait for the next installment in the series.

A sweet romance with interesting characters

Miss Hastings and the Duke form an unexpected friendship and alliance during trying circumstances. Their story is sweet, enjoyable, and fresh. They enjoy getting to know each other but are then surprised by unsuspected aspects of themselves.

As things happen, they each discover the errors of some of their beliefs and judgements. The plot twists lead them to take uncomfortable but appropriate actions. Their 'happily ever after' is well earned and satisfying.

If you're in the mood for a sweet romance between believable, interesting characters, this is the book for you.

This was pretty good. A clean read that made me not want to put the book down.
The Duke is suffering through the Mother's house party at his estate but he's determined not to be caught by any of the young ladies his Mother invited along. Isabel hates that her parents want her to marry for prestige and wealth, rather than for love. But she's sure she's found love already. Now she just needs to get through the time with the Duchess. Can James and Isabel find friendship together before going their separate ways?
I also thoroughly enjoyed the prequel book in this series, Mr. Harrison's Heart, and am looking forward to more books in the series.

A wonderful read that had me thinking of this cast of characters long after I was done.
I really loved the character development of both Isabel and James, but also the supporting characters were richly developed and easy to imagine in their setting. The interactions were genuine and I felt like I was watching a movie.
It was an easy read, with intense moments that had me gasping, laughing, and racing to read what happened next.
I am admittedly not a regular fan of romance, but this book kept my interest and wasn't something too predictable to enjoy.

James Barrington, Duke of Norland avoids Parliament and his mother, especially when she throws a house party at his estate. Her sole aim is to get her son married off to any of thd eligible debutantes at her party. Especially one Isabel Hastings who is both pretty and stubborn.

Isabel Hastings has her own reasons for wanting to avoid the Duke and confides in him that she is secretly engaged to another, however the longer she stays the more she doesn't want to leave.

So what happens next will force them both to face the fact that they mau just belong together.

This is a new to me author. I liked the story well enough though I couldn't keep track of all the characters at the house party. Quite frankly, I'm lousy with names in real life so it is no surprise that I have the same problem in books. His ward that arrived at the end seemed a little too good to be true but it made me wonder if she might get her own book at some point so we can get to know her better. The story is somewhat predictable with a couple smallish plot twists to add flavor.

Sex: talk of adultry
Language: some
Violence: no

The undesirable Duke: A Recency Romance (Reluctantly. in Love Book 1) Courtney Willis

The story of James and Isobel is about a house party thrown by the Duccess at the country home. Isobel first encounter with the Duke was not pleasant. They became acquainted, then friends as he became more sure of himself and who he was. He has his friend Thomas and Henry at the party that added interest to the guests at party. Thru turmoil of misunderstandings they developed friendships and love. This was a most enjoyable book.

Wonderful

This is my second time reading this book. It is certainly on if my favorites. James is perfect to me in every sense. His character was written almost flawlessly. Isabel was great as well. The paragon of what a book couple should be. I loved reading the words of both characters, especially James. I'm a sucker for dukes, so I was in from the beginning. The author did an excellent job weaving the story from beginning to end. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book both times. I'm sure it won't be my last either.

FIRST COURTNEY WILLIS BOOK and DEFINITELY NOT MY LAST!!! I really loved this one. House party, matchmaker, brooding duke--how could I NOT? I was immediately invested in this plot line. James and Isabel are so perfect for each other, but alas there is one very large obstacle keeping them apart. She’s engaged to someone else!! (Yes, you should read that in Kristoff’s voice) I loved the tension in this and nearly read it in one sitting. I was forced to put it down against my will, ok? I couldn’t wait for things to work out for these two, and I was soooo happy when it did. Fantastic read

The first book in the Reluctantly in Love series a well written story with a very good storyline that flowed smoothly across the pages. James Barrington the Duke of Norland and Isabel Hastings' story of a very grumpy man that meets his match. I enjoyed seeing this story come together and want to read the next book. clean romance

I enjoyed this story of secrets and self discovery.

Both the hero and heroine are caught in the secrets they both have that keep them trapped and they find support when the share with each other.

The author does a wonderful job of weaving a believable story and the plot keeps enough secrets of its own as it slowly unveils the storyline.

I look forward to seeing how the next book goes!
