In a world filled with chaos, they’re still searching for paradise …

William and his friends have battled scores of diseased and left communities behind them on their journey to find what lies south of the wall bisecting the country. They’ve lost loved ones and overcome many challenges, but they’ve never faced an obstacle as great as the one before them.

The wall; steel, sheer, and two-hundred feet tall. An insurmountable barrier designed to separate the north and south. Their dream should stop here, but the group has a plan to get to the other side, and it might just work.

If they get past the wall, will they find the paradise they’re searching for?

Will they finally find somewhere they can make their home?

And if they do, will all of them still be alive?

“Maybe survival is the best we can hope for in this world, and while we have it, we need to honour the moment more.”

This journey has been memorable, travelling light but heart and soul heavy with agony, tears, despair, facing unimaginable dangers, cruel encounters, but also with fun, emotional and loving moments filled with laughter and joy. Discovering the worst face of mankind, but also a kindness, generosity, hospitality and love in a world extent of humanity.

The characters are amazing, resilient, the epitome of strength and fortitude. How much will they be able to resist?
The world Michael has built is as amazing as it is disturbing. I definitely hope society doesn't take this route. The pacing is... let's just say that it won't let you go.

This hasn’t been an easy read for me. The last 40% of the book had me all winded up; I had to stop and try to relax, I was so nervous ! It took me at least two hours to come back and rejoin the protagonists in their adventures. Michael Robertson sure knows how to pull the reader into the story, so vivid and realistic it is, with a 3D feeling . Lol

Now that we are where we finally wanted to be, I fear the worst is yet to come. It has been so intense reading this premise, but I’d read this series again, wouldn’t miss it for the world! I’m already looking forward to reading Divided #11, that fabulous is this series!

Our group of survivors keeps diminishing as some friends are killed, the last one being Max, leaving Olga in a fury and lashing out at everyone. The group have left Dout and are making their way to the wall, an obstacle of gigantic proportions made of solid steel and behind which they hope to finally escape the apocalypse which their life has been fighting like forever. However some needed to find closure whilst others to get better equipment in order to scale the wall so they separate, William and Gracie go back to Dout and find trouble there, whilst Nick and Artan go to the enemy camp to steal more magnets to help them scale the wall. Olga, Matilda and Hawk remain in the cottage but they all fall foul to the diseased and worse. Their biggest problem is that of self doubt and feeling remorseful for not having done enough, all seem to blame themselves for something they did or failed to do. This book is a real gut wrencher and one of great heroics, whereby our friends watch each other's backs even at the risk to their own lives and making sure no one gets left behind. The ending after all the nail biting is another cliff hanger and I cannot wait to read book 11. Will our survivors ever get to see the paradise they are seeking and get out of the hell hole?

“You screwed up. You hurt one of our citizens. That hurts me. If they suffer, I suffer. But it’s too easy for me to punish you. Instead, your friend will pay the price for your error.”

After Dout fell the gang now along with Gracie and Nick hatch a plan to cross the wall. This means sneaking into the community that Attacked them to steal much needed tools.

'A red light burst to life above them. They all froze. Olga and Gracie leaned out as if it might give them a better view of their destination. Not that they needed to see. The red lights were on. They all knew what came next.'

More pain and suffering is endured but the gang find what they need and begin their ascent, with some of the worst timing possible.

“I must say,” Hawk said, “from what I’ve seen so far, I’m wondering if we’ve made the correct choice in coming here.”

Is the other side of the wall really a better life? It sure doesn't seem that way. I cannot wait to see where this series goes now and I seriously feel like they are in a lot more danger than every they were before.

Another fantastically written entry to the series. With the addition of two very likeable members of the gang. A lot more lain and suffering and our favourites coming out on top ( or near enough)

5* absolutely faultless

A fast read 10th installment

Being the tenth book in this series we have gone through a lot with our little band of warriors. Sometimes it pushes me to continue suspending my disbelief about how much bad luck they can endure or how they could possibly have continued good luck in dodging diseased and other threats. I suppose Max's death was a bit of a reality check in that regard.

At this point the books come and go pretty quickly, like serialized episodes more than books. That's good in some ways because the suspense can be hard to take for long sometimes. I continue to enjoy the series and will stick with it. My only issue came when the author wrote the scene about the group physically climbing the wall. I became frustrated because the mechanics of getting over might have made sense in the author's mind's eye but they didn't translate well to my mind's eye. I finally just had to tell myself "they are going over the wall" and skip ahead lest I get bogged down in whose foot or hand was being placed where and how. I look forward to seeing if crossing the wall will bring the better life that was anticipated - somehow I doubt it will.

Summary:
In a world filled with distrust and The Diseased, Will William and his friends ever find a place to call home. After loosing Max, the group is struggling to find their way back together. Olga’s anger over loosing her love Max is making it difficult to maintain her composure. Unfortunately, their world is filled with danger and death lurks around every corner. The only way out they can see is to somehow find their way over a huge metal barrier that divides the North from the South while always hiding from the diseased. Max and Nick devise a way over the wall, but it isn’t without risk. Gracie is determined to return to Dout forcing the rest of the group to split up. The danger from enemies and The Diseased keep them on high alert, but even that may not be enough.

This is an incredible saga about friendship, family, loyalty, and the refusal to never give up. I for one will be waiting to see what happens next.

After the debacle at the Dout enclave, our remaining group of Edin refugees is on the move again to tackle the daunting task of scaling the 200-foot steel wall forming the southern boundary of their country. As they make their way south, the group needs to split up at times to find food, water and necessary supplies, which further exposes them to the ever-present diseased creatures, as well as the belligerent roaming groups of southern refugees, who mercilessly torture and kill everyone they encounter. Their usual plight has been to take two steps forward and one step backward; will their luck ever get better? The nerve-wracking dangers keep emotions raw, threatening to break up the group over differences of opinion. Can they hold their feelings in check and keep working together to complete their quest?

This story is an easy read, with Mr. Robertson delving into the emotional interplay between his strong characters as they face the constant threat of death and disheartening setbacks and losses. Each book in this series digs a little deeper and keeps the suspense building: can this band of refugees survive everything being thrown in their way? I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series so far and look forward to completing the journey. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion. I bought a copy to support this outstanding author, and I’ve pre-ordered the next book, wishing it could be ready to read tomorrow!

No matter what this group of friends continue to brave the hardships that the world keeps throwing at them despite the loss of friends and family. In an increasingly hostile environment and hostile enclaves, they continue to strive to conquer the wall to find out if life is better on the other side. Michael Robertson continues to make you feel the characters angst, terror, hope and determination as they go through all the hurdles placed in their way. This is a wonderful post apocalyptic tale and I enjoyed it very much. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and recommend this one.

I recommend reading the Beyond These Walls series in order. The main reason for this is that Michael Robertson does not rehash the storyline. The story is fluid and continuous. In this apocalyptic zombie world, it's hard to stay alive. This crew does an amazing job at doing just that thru perseverance and determination. The dream of a better place, a safe place drives them, but how will they survive without their strongest member? Getting over the wall? And what is on the other side? Get ready for a stress-filled ride that will answer these and other questions. I was lucky enough to score an ARC copy and I honestly recommend this entire series.

Another action packed installment with Dout having fallen. William and his friends must now find away to get passed the great wall. First they must find somewhere to rest and hide from the deseased
Then devise a plan for retrieving more magnetic handles to help scale the wall. This is a real page turner with twists and turns. The suspense never lets up as they discover just who lives in the community and what will be required to collect the handles. Definitely recommend this book and the whole series.

I wish that I could give this book more than 5 stars. Absolutely brilliant. Each book in this series gets better and better. This instalment is epic. The Beyond These Walls universe has expanded again. I really don’t know how Michael Robertson does it. There was a part in the book describing a high place~it was so well described I needed to stop reading as I felt sick (being someone who is terrified of heights). This is how talented the author is. As always I am looking forward to the next book.

Another tense instalment in this brilliant series where the 'gang' attempt to climb the wall...

This series has great characters, each with flaws, each with strengths, each human and wanting to survive the grim world left after the devastation of the past. Their exploits are certainly filled with suspense; just when things might be okay, oops.

An intriguing new character caught my interest; I wonder what that means?

Very well written and fast-paced with a satisfying plot and sense of place - definitely a compelling read. And yes, I have pre-ordered #11.

Highly recommended.

I really appreciated that this instalment of the “Beyond These Walls” series provided us with our first real opportunity to see William and Matilda willingly separated. The decision to separate the characters was a welcome one, and the three subplots worked together well. I feel that the depiction of Olga’s grief missed the mark slightly for me, but the novel was well paced as always and an easy and enjoyable read.

This episode does an excellent job of following on from the previous episode and setting up the coming 11th episode, all the while taking the reader on a wild action-filled ride through three different communities. This story just keeps getting better with each new release. I received and Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.

Love this whole series

It's good to read storylines that are set so long after the initial outbreak. This entire series is really good, as are other books by the author that I've read. If you're a fan of the zombie genre I would highly recommend that you read them all!

Reading this installment(10) of Beyond these Walls is like a reunion of friends you haven’t heard from in a while but you care deeply for them. Michael Robertson has created another action-packed, tension-filled adventure that I could not put down until the last page. Awesome characters and a well-developed world make this series a MUST READ especially if you love apocalyptic/dystopian tales.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this ARC from the author and this is my honest and unsolicited opinion.
