Bad so bad.

Caleb DeLuca knew that tattooed, scarred ex-cons didn't usually get trusted with anything precious. He'd spent the second half of his forty-three years atoning for the lives he had destroyed in the first half and was shocked to get invited to the club his brother-in-law owned. Especially when he found out what type of club it was.

Max was too young, too beautiful, and too fragile for Caleb to get any ideas they could ever be more than friends. Besides which, Max was searching for a man that would inflict the pain he craved, and Caleb was done with hurting people.

Even if that was what they wanted.

Bad Daddy is the story of a man who doesn't believe he deserves anything good and the boy who finds out sometimes the best things come in most unexpected packages.

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

Still a very nice daddy read.

------------------------------

I really liked this. It would have been 4.5 stars if not for the drama at the end. I thought it was too late in the book for that, and it wasn’t fleshed out enough.

I read the first book but skipped the second, but this book works fine as a stand-alone.

I really liked how sweet and patient Caleb was. And Max was such a sweet thing, even though he tried to be prickly, he couldn’t really pull it off.

I was happy to see that Max slowly came around to realising he might not know what he was looking for, and that he might actually need a daddy, and not a hardcore sadist, as he figured he would need.

The daddy kink in this is very light. Caleb is only just realising that the way he wants to care for his partners means he is a daddy. But Max thinks having a daddy means he has to be a little like his friends Charlie and Dash. But he slowly figures out that daddies and boys are not all the same. And that they can be whatever they want to be.

The one thing I didn’t like was Max’s grandfather trying to make him stop seeing Caleb, while the old man hadn’t been present in the entire book. I would have believed in it more if it didn’t feel like it was added as an afterthought at 93%.

But other than that this was just lovely.

Well, another one of those books that could actually be outstanding, but fails because of the little things.
The careful, slow development of Max and Caleb's relationship is nicely done, even if sometimes you want to climb into the book and shake the characters until they finally talk openly to each other. grrrr. But ok, we're used to that. The circumstances of the two make it difficult and in this respect I was also grateful about the tentative development.
I thought it was very interesting that both are surrounded by friends who are active in the age-play scene, but are not attracted to it. Since I'm a big fan of age-play, it was nice to see it from the outside. And it was refreshingly different to see Max and Caleb find their own Daddy/boy niche.

“I’m not brave, far from it. It takes way more courage to be an adult and get down on the floor and play like a young child than it does to stand against a St. Andrew’s cross. It takes incredible bravery to make yourself that vulnerable. To be opened up for ridicule and scorn.” 🥺🥺🥺

What I don't understand and what annoys me a lot now is that such nice plot possibilities are opened up and then not followed up on and only find a brief mention in the epilogue. And the things with the asshole grandfather also finds no real conclusion but only such a half-assed marginal mention. Question marks remain and I don't feel satisfied. 🤯

Caleb pushes his vehicle to brother-in-law, Adrian's, club and that is where he meets a beautiful young man, but he doesn't like the pretty man's expression. When the young man needs a ride, Caleb offers.
Our characters are a bit complicated.
Younger Max, has black hair and green eyes,

is wealthy, but controlled by his ornery grandpa, who keeps him under his thumb. Max searches for what he thinks he needs.
Caleb, big, tall, tattooed and pierced, looks fierce,

and is an ex-con who makes cakes at Sprinkles, and works on motorcycle restorations, a gentle giant.
The two men begin to hang out and learn about each other. Caleb wants to take care of Max, but he's not a "Daddy" like the usual description. Max is under the wrong impression of what he needs, plus his anxiety and lack of sleep, has him suffering for being unsatisfied.
We see them try to work out the definitions of their roles, and some things fit, some don't. Their sexy times are very hot and satisfying, and when love comes into play, it's more important to give and take and make it work.

This is a lovely exploration, angsty, no ABDL, but we are shown a different Daddy/boy concept.
Caleb's back story is horribly sad, and Max's loneliness is soul deep. They must find a new way to their happiness.
Oh, BTW, Caleb is not a "bad Daddy," he's just different than most.
ENJOY !

his book is a really charming exploration of a young man who doesn't know what he wants or needs, and an older man with a lot of baggage who discovers things about himself he didn't know.

Max is rich, but firmly under the control of his very narrow minded grandfather. He knows BDSM is what he needs to balance his life, and has been well trained in the lifestyle, but can't seem to find a Dom who is willing to give him more than one scene. He's lonely, struggling with life, and can't find the outlet he needs to thrive.

Caleb is an ex-con who just opened his own business, but is convinced he's not good enough to be in a relationship. He carries guilt for what put him in prison, and has some phobias from his time in jail that could impede his ability to have a relationship in the BDSM lifestyle.

The two MCs revolve around each other, both sure that they either don't want, or aren't worthy of, the other. But with enough exposure to one another, "life happens" stuff, and some self-discoveries, the two grow closer until they realize they are what each needs.

Ultimately, this book is an easy read, has some very likeable characters (both the MCs and some of the side characters), and results in a well-earned HEA.

ARC review for Bad Daddy
Such a good read. The same feeling I get from a warm hug, that's the feeling I had after finishing this book. Caleb and Max were good for each other. Caleb discovering his Daddy tendencies was a joy to see. Max was just so confused and needed to be loved and cared for. This was a short read but it packed a lot of feels. They focus more on the relationship and not the label which was a big positive for me. This is a romantic read with wonderful characters and very easy to read.

Well, surprise, surprise I wasn't expecting to love this story like I did, I struggled a bit with the previous books in the series. I went into this one thinking it would be another typical Daddy/little story and those aren't my thing but it didn't turn out that way. I'm not really sure why I picked it up to read but I'm so glad I did! Bad Daddy ended up being a very sweet, heartwarming love story between a man who was surprised to find he was a Daddy inside and a boy that loved (and deserved) to be cared for. Yeah, this was a good one!

TAGS
-- Daddy/boy -- some angst -- some heartbreak -- some tears -- some laughter -- a whole lot of aww -- very sweet -- age difference (20ish years) -- how family shouldn't be -- LOVED the MCs... Max & Caleb -- light on sex -- characters from past stories -- couldn't put this down -- wish it wasn't over -- sigh worthy -- would definitely read again

I was gifted my copy of this book direct from the author, and I thank Ms Sue very much for that!

This is book 3 in the Unexpected Daddies series, and I read book 2 AFTER this one, so you don't need to have read those two book before this one. Those guys pop up, but you don't need to have read their stories to follow Max and Caleb's.

Caleb isn't a Daddy, but he finds himself drawn to Max. Max who wants someone to cause him pain. Max who brings all kinds of feelings out of Caleb he didn't know he had. But Caleb can't hurt anyone, even if they want it.

I loved this book, I inhaled it, totally and utterly. I'm not a rereader, not at all, but I find myself unwilling to let these two go!

Caleb is atoning for his sins in a previous life. He can't hurt anyone again, even if Max is looking for that. What Caleb wants to do, is look after Max. In a way he wasn't aware he needed to. In a way that surprsies him, totally. It surprises Max too, how much he likes being looked after, how much Caleb makes him really feel. He hasn't felt much in a long, long time, but Caleb is pushing buttons he didn't know he needed pushing. And as much as he likes it, it scares him too.

The attraction they share is instant, but the relationship builds over time, and I loved the build up, the development that these two go through to be together. they understand what they are feeling is new to them both, different to what they usually want, but they work at it and it really is beautiful reading, that working at it.

I quote from my review for One Cup Of Daddy And A Dash of Love: "This is about learning what you need to be for your partner, and what they need from you." And that perfectly sums up this book too. I didn't feel that so much for book 2 though (I read it, but didn't write a review, bad me!)

Cup of Daddy is a sweet book, almost rot your teeth, kinda sweet. THIS book is not sweet, not at all. But what it is, is a beautifully written story about going for what and who you want, even if they are far out of your comfort zone. It's about two men realising what THEY need, and what the other needs, even if neither knew before.

Thank you, Ms Sue, for this book. I really loved it! Best of the three, I reckon!

Caleb and Max were opposites in so many ways. Caleb had a prison sentence in his past, and the much younger Max had grown up in a world of wealth. There was still an instant spark between them that they couldn't deny, though Max tried to ignore it at first!
Caleb had a tragic past, and I loved seeing how kind and gentle his heart still was after all he'd gone through. He still had a sister and brother-in-law who believed in him and loved him, he just needed the one thing he didn't believe he could have - a loving partner.
Max came from money, but he had to toe the line or risk losing everything. Since he didn't feel loved and wanted by anyone, he clung to the belief that he'd have nothing if he didn't follow the rules handed down to him. His only hope was to find a dom to give him the pain he needed to escape his reality, and he was running low on that hope. When he met Caleb, who refused to inflict pain, Max tried to push him away. Luckily for both men, events played out to bring them closer together, and I absolutely loved their road to romance.
Caleb and Max are wonderful, and the supporting characters are perfect. I recommend this sweet romance about a daddy who is not bad at all, and the boy he loves. It's sweet, sexy, and terrific.

This is a powerful story. It highlights that there can be lots of different reasons that a person is left with insecurity and fears. Both of these men have plenty of baggage to unpack but it is also clear that they are suited well to meet the needs of the other. I also like that when Max pulls back it is not for his own selfish reasons but because he is worried about Caleb. The supporting characters offer great support which make the story even more rich and full. I hope there will be more to this great series.

Nice addition to the series.

Like all the books in this series, I enjoyed the reprieve from the day to day stuff to sink into this fluffy Daddy kink romance. Max wants a Dom, what he discovers is tattooed, hugely muscled, cake decorating, sweet Daddies are really what he wants. Some angsty moments as they both discover what they mean to each other.

I had some issues where I got lost because of either Wrong name or mis-paragraphing the me out of the book, but otherwise a lovely little book. And mistakes in the last paragraph...hmmm...

Overall a sweet daddy/boy book (with no age play). Lots of heart and great characters but very rushed at the end.

I have a hard time rating this one. So the title and description are NOT an accurate portrayal of what you’ll be reading. Which was okay with me. Frankly, the characters didn’t fit the pain vibe that the description gave off. What follows is a beautiful journey as two men discover themselves and what they really want. The first 85% was 5 stars.

And then there’s the last 15%. When I looked down and saw how much I had left, I wondered how it could conclude that quickly. And then some major drama was thrown in on top of that, which frankly seemed kind of pointless and unrelated to most of the concerns expressed throughout the book. The drama was solved and it was wrapped up with a clear HEA, but it felt majorly rushed. The end of the book simply wasn’t up to the caliber of the beginning. It seemed like a deadline rush and was 2-3 stars for me. Frankly, these characters deserved better.

Lovely - Caleb and Max were two broken souls who found their home together

This was such a lovely book. Caleb and Max were in very different places in their lives and yet in many ways were very similar having suffered so much. There was such a sweetness to the way Caleb acted - I don’t think you could have found a gentler giant. I loved how much he was this quiet wall of strength and calm and kindness. These two are definitely my favourite and though I have loved the couples in previous books, I think this book had the most depth and feeling to it (that’s not to say the others weren’t great too!). I can’t wait for Rowan’s book and though I currently find Matthew to be a horrid little creature I do wonder if there’s something else going on their (sadly I am a true sucker for the redemption arc). Either way, I can’t wait for the next one and to get to see Caleb and Max again.

A pleasant surprise!

This is a new to me author and so happy I found her( and this book ) listed in a Facebook group.
Bad Daddy isn't what I expect at all. Both characters were sweet and despite their age difference worked so well together! I can't wait to read the others in tis series!

I loved this book. Max had this image built up in his head of the type of Dom he needed and Caleb didn’t feel worthy enough. They danced around each other for what felt like forever in this book & once they quit fighting what was right in front of them everything worked out fabulously. There were so many sweet moments too. I’d definitely read this book a second time.

A very enjoyable read, cozy despite a lot of dramatic flair.

I totally get why this could be preferable on one hand, but on the other it's also what kept this from being wow: If a major plot point is Caleb not being good enough for Max because of his past mistakes, why would every reveal about his past paint him as a victim in all of it? His insistance on taking full responsibility despite a lot of unfair circumstances make him seem like some sort of martyr and frankly, it was laid on a little thick for my taste.

All in all a good read, though. I liked the mood and the characters' figuring out what they wanted and needed in life, when it turned out to be something different than what they initially thought.

An okay read with a former ex-con (innocent of course) daddy who runs into a pain-slut sub in his brother-in-laws BDSM club. But he could never whip someone after what happened to him in prison. However maybe the kid doesn't need pain but something else and he's kind of a snotty rich kid searching for a perfect dom to free his mind (doesn't sleep, eating disorder, medication).

Of course once he agrees to be "friends" it moves to more and it's pretty straightforward until his homophobic grandfather who controls the purse strings gets nasty. You don't really get much in the way of direct interaction, just told about it and the solution. *shrug* There is also drama with Caleb and his family, that ends up more or less HEA as well.

I always love Victoria Sue's books and this one is no different. I love Max and Caleb! Caleb is exactly what Max needs even though both didn't know it. I love seeing how these two get together. With them starting as friends to becoming more. I love this slow burn and I couldn't put this book down. Such a perfect addition to this series.

Cabel was great but Max was too immature for his age plus extremely boring. Wanted Caleb to get a little dommy and Max to get his shit together. The relationship was dull and the sex was lacking.

I really love how Victoria Sue writes Daddy stories. The characters are well developed and realistic, and the feelings are just ... Gah! So good! Caleb and Max are the perfect pair - even if they don't initially think they are what the other needs. It's a lot about preconceptions and not judging, or being judged, by your past or circumstances. I really loved how both men wanted to fight against their attraction but didn't do a very good job at it! They both had emotional baggage to overcome but the author shows this in a very understanding and believable way. She doesn't just throw instant "fixes" out but makes the characters actually work for their HEA. It feels very genuine - while also being heartwarming and hot 🔥🔥 I'd read a couple of the other books in this series, so I was pleasantly pleased to see faces that I was familiar with pop up! I'm very much looking forward to reading more of these Daddies and boys and very highly recommend this book! It made me smile and sigh, and in the end that's the tell of a really good book!

I loved this story and the struggles that they both had as to others' perceptions of themselves and what they wanted out of a relationship. They always respected each other as well as did their best to be kind. I loved that Caleb gave Max the strength to achieve what he wanted and needed but also Max was a fierce strength behind Caleb when it was needed. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

Another great addition to the Unexpected Daddies series and I pretty much read it in one sitting.
Caleb and Max were such a great pairing even if it didn't seem to be the case at the start. I adored seeing Max finally get the love and family he so desperately wanted and deserved. He thought he needed pain and a Master to take him away from his crappy life. But what he really needed was a Daddy. Not to give him pain but instead love and care. And Caleb was just the man to do that.
After a lifetime of bad decisions and wrong turns in the face of grief and parental rejection Caleb is finally getting his life back on track. He didn't know he was a Daddy until he met Max and all he desperately wanted was to take care of Max - swoon! Seeing Max finally accept that maybe just maybe Daddy Caleb was right for him was adorable.
Really hope there are more books to come in this series.

With Caleb getting a new start to life, he is hesitant to define his role in a relationship.
Max on the other hand, knows what he wants from a relationship but has just not found the right partner.
When they meet, there’s an underlying attraction that is brewing between them, but both are too apprehensive to make a move towards the other.
Over time, as they spend time together, they make new discoveries about themselves and realise, maybe they are exactly what each other needs.

Being the third book in the series, this reads well as a stand-alone. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed seeing them come together and discover new aspects about themselves. This was a relatively low angst read, with some sweet moments woven into it. The ending was a bit rushed for me, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

There was no "bad" daddy in this story. Just a lovable older man who had some tough breaks early in life, paid for the worst of them in prison, and is now a baker who specializes in cakes and pastries. And there was a sub who came from a wealthy but broken home life, with a nasty, controlling grandfather, and a need for someone to dominate him and make the stinking thinking go away.

Two men who come from very different perspectives, who know they can need meet the other's needs, and yet they do. They are like jagged-edged jigsaw pieces and they slowly grow to learn that each is actually exactly what the other needs.

I enjoy Victoria Sue's stories and this series is no exception. I hope this isn't the last of them because there were a few "littles" in the playroom who definitely needed a "daddy" and I'll happily sit with their books and slip away from reality for a while.
