Rule of reporting 101-- don't bang your subject. Sophie Hall has just gotten the opportunity of a lifetime--to profile Nathan Ryder, the hottest baseball player since A-Rod, for her first solo assignment as a reporter. Rumor has it Nathan is going to be drafted to the Major league, and yet he still fits an intense training regime around volunteering at a animal shelter. He's a prodigy with a heart of gold, as American as apple pie and has an ass that deserves a trophy all its own. He may be the country's heartthrob, but Sophie isn't going to fall for that. She just has to remain objective and cover the story. But she didn't bet on Nathan's gorgeous green eyes or the way his arms flex with muscle when he's holding a bat. And she certainly didn't think he'd be witty and smart and caring. Nathan is completely untouchable, but she can't help it if those lingering gazes turn into something more. How could she not fall at the thought of the hottest guy she's ever met devoting his limited free time to saving kittens? When Sophie's scoop turns into Nathan's scandal, Nathan needs her more than ever. With both of their careers on the line will they strike out - or hit a home run?

4.75 Stars Sophie Hall is a 23 year old fledgling reporter with a dream assignment to interview the rather press elusive Nathan Ryder. 22 year old Nathan is a college senior about to be drafted to the major leagues. Now you don’t have to be a fan of baseball to enjoy this one. Trust me, I’m clueless when it comes to sports. The fun comes from the cute building of romance in this well written, light-hearted story that had me giggle-snorting out loud quite a few times.
“‘But, course, that’s all off the record…’”
Nathan is a refreshing hero, a smooth but reserved guy with a passion and talent for baseball. But that’s the only kind of player that Nathan is, and it’s part of what makes him a real catch. Sophie is a determined young journalist but she has a lot of integrity too. She’s also a likable heroine—strong, confident but with realistic insecurities. And despite all the challenges and headaches that are thrown at her, Sophie is never weak and maintains her spunky attitude.
“‘You might be the hottest thing since microwaves, but I am now officially immune to your charms. I’m done letting your smile and your tight shirts and your great butt distract me!’”
Thought they are smitten with each other off the bat, their first meeting is a bit of a strike out. Still, it’s clear the pair have some real chemistry, and there are plenty of playful scenes which help build that too. I got a kick out of Nathan’s attempts at railroading the interview and the irony that he was potentially digging himself in deeper.
“I could only imagine what I would do if I had his undivided attention. I would interview him all night long. Probably halfway into the morning as well. He looked like someone who was good with a long, hard line of questioning.”
Between Sophie’s often colorful descriptions as the first person narrator of the story and Nathan’s ulterior motives that fueled the plot and the romance, the story is a real delight. I also enjoyed the addition of Chris and Mandy. They were another cute romantic aspect of the story.
And while it takes a while, there are some sexy times too! “‘F*ck me,’ he groaned. ‘I plan to,’ I said and kissed him again.”
This book is what upbeat, exclusive romance is all about, and if the author produces more like this one—more sweet stories that keep you smiling the whole time—well, I’ll surely be reading.

This right here. This is my jam. Sports Romance for the win everytime and this time it involves baseball and one of the sweetest yet overtly sexy heroes since Knox Masters of Sacked fame. Game On by Katie McCoy may not have the same loud overzealous stage presence as Pucked in fact it’s like experiencing a personal acoustic set-it’s far more intimate, you pay way more attention to the details in the writing and you come away feeling all warm and fuzzy inside as though you lived your life through those words and they were written just for you. I didn’t even care that it wasn’t a dual POV and I ALWAYS care if it has a dual POV, in fact Game On is told entirely from our intelligent, incredibly ballsy and funny journalist heroine’s point of view. This girl, Sophie Hall, cracked me up, she was very reminiscent of an American Bridget Jones, endearingly clumsy, instantly likable and says pretty much anything she is thinking but when it comes to chauvinistic, fifties throwback misogynists this heroine knows a thing or two about taking them down a peg or two, subtlety be damned. It’s this personality and beautiful face that attracts The Longhorns’ star player Nathan Ryder, a young ridiculously hot but humble baseball star in the making and on the cusp of superstardom.
‘He laced his fingers in the chain fence on either side of my head, effectively pinning me to the wall. I could feel the heat of his body as he leaned forward, his eyes hot and intense. I knew I should stop him, I knew this was a bad idea, but instead I just met his gaze and licked my lips. He groaned deep in his throat and I knew we were both goners.’
Game On is an intelligent, entertaining and realistic take on a sports romance especially when Sophie and Nate have quite a few pesky obstacles blocking their way to a happily ever after. It is a bit of a slow burner but those are always the best. It’s a slow simmer, gaining heat and tension until it finally ignites into a raging inferno of repressed passion and unfurling love. It’s sometimes difficult to balance how much sport you actually portray in a book, with how much romance is thrown in and I think in Game On we would have benefitted from more game time and player interaction, just so we got a sense of how Nate is among his peers rather than just his best friend Chris, besides this I think Game On needed a little more in the drama stakes, it was a nice change of pace to not be worrying about slut shaming the ball groupies attacking the hero or having the heroine stalked by a deranged ex either, so apart from these small issues, Game On was without a doubt another terrific piece of writing and I can’t wait to see what Katie has in store for us all next.

A page turning romance, full of laughs, baseball & my new book boyfriend, Nathan Ryder!
Sophie Hall is a reporter, sent to Austin to take on a story that could change her career. A exclusive interview with "The Nathan Ryder". Star player for the Longhorns. This is her chance, and shes going to prove to her co-workers that she can do her job better than them. But a failed first impression and shots, make this trip and interview more complicated than Sophie could have imagined. Nathan Ryder does not care for reporters. He wants to play the sport he loves, go to school, and prepare for a long career with baseball. He is damn good at what he does, and he doesn't need the sexy, feisty, funny, Sophie Hall to mess that up for him. But both Sophie & Nathan can't deny the attraction between them for long. There is something there that intrigues and temps them to let go and have some fun together. Neither one would have thought that more could come out of the game they have been playing with one another.
Sophie is an amazing female lead. A fresh take on a book heroine. She's sassy, funny, sweet, and goes after what she wants. Nathan is every girls dream. All American sports player, a gentleman, caring with a alpha side, sexy body, who can recite poetry. He is defiantly at the top of my book boyfriend list.
I read this book so fast, hoping it would not end. The world that Katie McCoy has created is so much fun to read. Baseball, guys in tight pants, great friendships, sexy times, so many laughs, characters that have become some of my favorites, and of course love!
Katie McCoy has become a favorite author after reading Game On, I am so excited to read whatever she writes next.
Game On is a sweet and sexy sports romance that will have you experiencing that new love, forbidden love feeling until the last page… and begging for pictures of those nice tushies in baseball pants.
Sophie is a strong woman working in the “man’s world” of sports reporting. She has her first assignment and she is going to use it to prove that she is more than eye candy. That’s when she meets the ovary-bursting Nathan Ryder. The man is a greek god, philanthropist (kids and kittens, COME ON!) and has mad skills in the bedroom. I would be a goner!
The only problem? He is supposed to be the main focus of her work…not libido. Oops! Can Sophie find love and a name for herself in such a cut-throat, and not always honest career field? Only one way to find out.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed on behalf of Bookalicious Babes Blog. **
This book was okay. It had a great premise. Sophie Hall is a reporter wanting to make a mark at the newspaper she works at. When she was given the opportunity to interview up-and-coming baseball superstar Nathan Ryder, she was determined to hit it right out of the ball park (pun intended). But Nathan has other ideas. He doesn't really like reporters. Then there's also the undeniable attraction between them, which adds to Sophie's problem because as much as she wants to do her job, Nathan has proven to be a distraction she can't seem to quit.
Judging from the 5 and 4 stars this book is getting, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority. I just couldn't get into the book. I tried. I really did. But I didn't find Sophie particularly relatable. I should have since she has a sympathetic backstory but I found her incompetent. That sounds really harsh but I really did. She's a reporter who is supposed to be desperate to prove that she's got what it takes but oh my god, she didn't do her job at all. She was unprepared and I was left wondering how in the hell did she even get this assignment. I was told -- or the reader is told that she went and made this fantasy baseball team and write about it. I was told but I didn't see her "skill" in action, which was a bummer.
The hero, Nathan Ryder...I feel bad for not feeling him either. He's just one-dimensional to me. I tried so hard to feel something because this guy is supposed to be super talented and a super nice guy. I mean, he loves poetry and kittehs, goddammit, but all I could think of while reading about him was, I'm bored. I'm so effin' bored.
The writing was good, it just failed to make me connect and care about the characters. That plus the fact that I found the conflict really weak. The main conflict revolved around Nathan's reticence about being interviewed which suggests that he has a secret he doesn't want exposed. It was drawn out and when the reveal came, it was anti-climactic. I just went, "Huh! That's it?" And Sophie's inner conflict about wanting to be taken seriously as a reporter didn't pan out and everything just came together for her. And before you know it, it's already HEA.
Overall, this story had potential. But the weak conflict and one-dimensional characters did me in. I really wish I could like this more.

Me wishing I was someone else, somewhere else...
Me still waiting...
Not A Fan Of The Characters
Her....
I could get into the characters No, if I'm honest, I just didn't like them, individually nor together.
She oh so subtly plays the victim too often...
She has a punk-ass boyfriend with shitty sex and is jealous of the people next door getting it on.
She sees a sweet romance blooming elsewhere and is jealous.
She didn't go to college and is jealous of the scenery.
The jealously is subtle and even she knows it's the wrong attitude, but it's off-putting no less for readers, especially considering the rest of her character flaws.
Her co-workers view her as unworthy of her job because she doesn't have a degree or experience; she thinks they assume she has and will use her youth and sexuality to get what she wants professionally.
As someone who believes you earn respect and prove your worth, I can't say that I empathize with the victim plight she's laying out. Sorry:/
^Of course, it doesn't help that she's there to work and instead finds herself getting shitface drunk the night before she's to interview her subject, drunk again the next afternoon while she's supposed to be watching the subject practice, living out a college frat party and BFF scene the next night (complete with a make-out scene,) getting shitface the next night as she is trying once again to interview him, and then using the sexuality (that she's so worried coworkers assume she uses mind you) to "distract" him when she finally does interview him. Dear merciful Kindles~ please make it stop!
Him...
The male MC is so standoffish, aloof, and so immediate in his anger at her just because of 'her job,' that I can't conjure a lot of like for him either. His flirting? Omg I know pubescents that have more game.
You Cant Be Really Asking Me To Buy This Shit!?
I'm far from a prude. My usage of "fuck" and "motherfucker" more often than "the" prohibits such foolhardy! Now...
Drinking, flirting, and all aside between the MCs. What professional reporter goes to a college frat party "off the record?" Plays matchmaker with college kids and helps the girl she just fucking met get dressed for a date like she's her roommate & new BFF? What professional reporter pours a water bottle over a teammate of the guy she's there to interview & engages in a team water fight like she's just another college friend of the team engaging in fun shenanigans? Tells her interviewee "fuck you?" Is uneducated and inexperienced, but ignores the boss that took a risk on hiring her and assigning her a hot article?
Basically, the author made a huge mistake... I'd have bought her as a college newspaper reporter. A professional reporter on her first big assignment, trying to prove she deserves the paycheck on merit vs sexuality? No! Just no way!
The Plot
She needs to interview him... He doesn't want her to interview him.
She wants to bang him like the 4th of July, but resists because that would be unprofessional *eyeroll considering ^* .... He wants to bang her like the 4th of July, but resists because of her profession.
That's the premise for 50% of the book. I just can't deal with these characters plus the boring monotone of the plot.
Calling It Quits
If this was ice cream it'd be that off-brand of sugar-free vanilla that one only eats if desperate or medically necessary for survival.
I made it to 50%, and only because this was highly recommended by a reader who I adore and value their opinion. Clearly, we read this book with very different eyes because I found nothing of value, thus my one star rating, and she absolutely adored it, thus her five star rating. Sorry, E:/
4.25Nathan stars!!I absolutely love this hero! Not a manwhore, sweet, Hot, sexy, funny, and just a really nice guy! At times I wanted to smack him but I easily forgave him(who couldn't) lol Sophie was a good h she was hilarious! But at times I didn't like some things she says about her ex. Nothing too bad just my preference. This was a really sweet story! I have to admit at times this was kind of slow for me. I mean they didn't even have sex until like 70% but oh boy it was HOT! Some things weren't perfect like I kept thinking why Nathan had a hard time trusting her at times. I thought maybe he got burned before but no I guess just him being a big star he had his hesitations. Gosh Nathan was just a great guy:) liked the epilogue but so need more! And omg Mandy (she is friends with the hero and then later with h)and Chris(friends with hero also teammate) what a beautiful sweet couple. I love them together. Chris is a great guy too! Mandy a sweetheart! Mandy and Sophie were great friends! All in All I really enjoyed this more so because Nathan was a breath of fresh air!
Safety: well h lived with a bf for 3 months and together for 6. It starts with her going out of town to do an interview with the H. her bf calls her and tells her she's never there for him and he thinks they should break up. So basically he breaks up with her, tells her BTW you got an eviction notice (she gave him money to pay the rent he never did) bit don't worry I'll be fine a girl from his band(he is a musician) is letting me stay with her. lol He was such a loser. he smokes pot quit his job when he moved in with her. It's kinda of the point that she always picks losers. She really isn't that upset about the break up more upset with herself picking a loser. There is one scene where we see her ex again . h and H are at a bar and her ex is there singing (a song he supposedly wrote for her) which really was so funny and stupid). he added lyrics and it was about their sex life. that part I didn't need to know(like them having sex and her giving him bj) but it was too funny! they get into it a little and boy that was funny.lol thats the only time we see him. she does say some comments I could of did without like her ex being good looking him handsome in her bed etc. she also says that the sex was good 3 months into their relationship but when he moved in he couldn't get it up and it sucked . he was selfish lover they didn't have sex often like probably very rare those 3 months.lol that part was funny too. H well was perfect lol no mention of anyone except one gf be dated in high school. we do see her once but it's not bad at all. it's just too clear up something. that's it no mention of any other woman, nothing about his sex life, how good he is , no oral nothing mentioned. No mention of condoms used before but for some reason it didn't bother me plus I think they did. they used them both times together. There are only two actual sex scenes but some kissing and oral in between(those were pretty hot too)of course I could of use more sex! lol I think that's all. if I forgot something I apologize:)
just added: I forgot to mention one thing. when h is in her hotel room she starts to hear moaning and bed banging . she says it's hot and kind of gets turned on . that didn't bother me but for a minute there I was thinking oh hell no please tell me that wasn't the H with OW . thank goodness it wasn't. at that point we haven't met him yet so I didn't know what kind of guy he was. just thought I warn my GR friends because that was scary for a minute:)
I absolutely loved this book! It had me captivated from the first word to the very last and it was so good that I read the whole thing in one sitting. Game On has everything that you'd want to find in a book!
One sexy journalist ✓
One hot as hell college baseball star ✓
Adorable kittens ✓
A career changing job assignment ✓
Secrets being kept from one another ✓
Sophie Hall is a 23 year old fledgling journalist who is asked to do the assignment of a lifetime: to interview Nathan Ryder, the hot as hell college baseball player who is about to be drafted into the MLB. This is her first solo assignment and could make or break her career, since Nathan is known for his anti-journalist stance.
I think this is the first sports romance I have read where the star is quite humble and doesn't want to have his name splashed out there in the spotlight for everyone to see.
Game On is a lighthearted read that will have you laughing throughout the entirety of the book. The romance is a slow build that will have you yelling at the characters to get their butts in gear, and their heads on straight, before they lose their chance at love with one another.
I fell in love with Sophie and Nathan and wished their story was a never ending one. I was very surprised to learn that this was the author's debut novel because I wanted to read more from her! I really hope she releases another book soon, maybe with more hot baseball stars.
Game On was the first book in Katie McCoy’s Players series.
Sophie Hall was an aspiring journalist. She came from a struggling single mom upbringing and wasn’t afforded the luxury of going to college so she worked hard for her opportunities. She had a big break by interviewing an up and coming baseball star that was set to go pro soon. But as expected, not everything was smooth sailing.
Nathan Ryder was a college baseball pitcher and a rising star with high expectations. He was also the master of avoidance when it came to interviews as he hated being the center of attention. His chemistry with Sophie was off the charts but any journalist was the enemy. Although he was scripted to be a bad boy, he really wasn’t, just cautious.
Game On was written with Sophie’s POV. I enjoyed the storyline. It wasn’t unpredictable, but it was fast paced, sweet, entertaining and I enjoyed going back to college for a bit. If you’re in the mood for a light hearted sports HEA, then Game On is the perfect choice.
This book was not what I expected, it was even better than what I thought it was going to be out. First when I pictured nathan I saw him as player, crude, drop dead gorgeous and confident. But when I met him and saw that he was sweet and still drop dead gorgeous, it was his sh shyness that I fell for, when he blushed I mean how cute is that. He was still alpha but he was kind like closest one. Which made me fall for him even more. And than animal shelter and the kids stacked. But his secret triumphed all of that. He's to damn perfect! This also happens to be my first book by Katie can't wait to read more.
To be the first debut of this author. I'm ecstatic! This book was incredible and I LOVED every sweet and sexy part!
Here we have Nathan who is a college senior, he has this important sport career, and he's going to be drafted to the major leagues of baseball. Who doesn't love a sexy athlete with a sweet heart?
Sophie is a journalist, who has her biggest assignment, an interview with Nathan the bright star of baseball, also this assignment is to prove that she can be the best... In a world full of men.
What Sophie doesn't expect is the attraction towards Nate, and the chemistry that starts to build up in every encounter. A forbidden attraction, I might say because she's supposed to prove them wrong and her libido is in the mix now!!!
I definitely enjoyed this book, there are funny, sexy, and lovely moments that I really enjoyed going through every chapter. Also the characters are relatable, they're realistic and the way author build up every scenario, lead to an incredible ending!
And I need to say that Sophie, she was one of those heroines you love! She was confident, but she had her own insecurities and her embarrassing moments? God, o had a good time with them because is something that can happen to everyone of us *laughs* and she was so so cute!
Nathan, sweet and sexy Nathan! This guy... I felt everything with him, from his dirty mouth to his manners, and the way he was with Sophie.
I can't express how much I adored this book! And I'm very happy I had the opportunity to read this book from Katie... Here to her next book!

I didn’t know what I expected from Game On, so to say that I was blown away was an understatement. To say I liked it was also an understatement. I didn't just like it, I loved it. I love, love, love, love it.
From the first page, I found myself adoring and liking Sophie Hall.
Game On was funny, hilarious, and from the moment we were introduced to Nathan Ryder—this book was swoon-worthy in all the right places.
Every little interaction between Nathan and Sophie had me grinning and giggling like an idiot. Jesus, these two were so… EVERYTHING. They were witty, funny, charming, clever, and hot together. I was rooting for them since the first moment they met.
Oh Nathan. From the very second we were introduced to him, I liked him already. He’s funny, he’s sweet, he’s guarded and he was hot. He sounded so perfect that I’m upset he wasn’t a real person.
This book was so enjoyable that I found myself flipping through the pages and eating it all up like brain candy. I’m so upset it had to end! (Nathan and Sophie were so adorable!) Oh my God, I want more.
Sophie Hall is capitalizing on the chance of a lifetime. Her task: interview Nathan Ryder—college baseball star and MLB draft sure-thing. She's angling for a feel good exposé, profiling the sexy, enigmatic star who hails from her hometown of Houston. If she nails this interview, she'll buy herself some credibility at her "good ol' boy" driven newspaper, and make a huge step towards advancing her career as a journalist.
Nathan Ryder doesn't trust journalists. He's not an easy interview and to make matters worse, he doesn't trust Sophie before the interview even begins. Still, he's drawn to her. He's not willing to give her anything she can use for her interview, but he's more than willing to give her pieces of himself to get closer to her heart. Only, he’ll have to open his heart to her in return—and that’s going to mean trusting that she’s not out to hurt him.
I loved Nathan. I mean, what's not to love? He was a frustrating interview subject, but all those "off the record" nuggets of knowledge he dropped on Sophie just made me love him even more. And then...the kittens? Dead. I am dead. He is too much.
I was slower to love Sophie—I never really clicked with her. She was nice enough and I loved her friendship with Mandy and Chris. But for a woman hell bent on making a name for herself in her career, she made a lot of questionable decisions. And sometimes her distress read more like whining, and I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get her head in the game!
I also had some pacing issues with this book. For a while it felt like things were moving kind of slowly, I found myself skimming paragraphs waiting for the next thing to jump out and grab me. Then, later, it moved incredibly quickly—in a way that caused my eyebrow to raise in doubt. There’s a happy medium in there somewhere, but it didn’t catch just right for me in this book.
That said, there were also moments that took my breath away. Nathan is sort of the king of romantic gestures and they were just right for me—not too showy or over the top, and just nerdy enough for me to fall hopelessly in love. I also loved the dynamics between the secondary characters here. I mentioned Sophie's friendship with Chris and Mandy, but also the dynamics between Nathan's family—there's a lot of heart there and I really enjoyed reading about them.
In all, this is an extremely promising debut. It was sweet and swoony, and Nathan makes a pretty wonderful book boyfriend. I look forward to reading more from this author! ~ Shelly, 3.5 stars

Sometimes, a girl just needs a swoony baseball player. And when you do, you can find one here, in Katie McCoy’s debut, Game On. Chockfull of charm and adorableness, it was fun way to spend a few lazy hours…even if there were some moments that had me shaking my head.
Sophie Hall’s big break comes when she's given the chance to interview rising baseball star, Nathan Ryder. He's known to be reticent around journalists, but she's determined to hunt out a feel-good story on him, that will cause him to open up to her.
What she wasn't expecting, was their intense and immediate chemistry…
Like I said, Game On was heavy on the charm. I might even call it cute. I mean, kittens. Come on!! Is there anything cuter than kittens? Not bloody likely. It was funny in places, sexy in others, and quite easy to get lost in.
However, I'm a little worn out by the ‘will do anything for a story’ journalist trope—it remains a sore point for me, having grown up with journalists, and listened to them gripe about this exact stereotype. And because of that, I had moments where I couldn't contain my frustration. Having said that, I was pleased to see that Sophie’s morals pointed her in the right direction. That, for me, was a redeeming factor in this overall storyline.
Another redeeming factor for Game On? The overall delight that was Nathan Ryder. Although he makes mistakes—and the same ones in repeat...boyfriend needs to listen—he was smolder, steam and sweet gestures, too. It was not hard to see why Sophie, whose occasional woe-is-me attitude rubbed me the wrong way, would fall for a guy like Nathan. She did, I did—and I firmly believe you will too.
But my favorite thing about this book was the swoon-worthy subplot of Mandy and Chris. I was taken by them from the moment Sophie grabbed that camera and saw the pictures. They were awkwardly adorable, and I'd have happily read about them more and more. It was sweet to see them together, and the little (and not so little) nudges that Nathan and Sophie gave them just made me love them more. Nothing says good people like trying to help your friend get laid…err, I mean, fall in love.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It may have given me a few moments of pause, but as a whole is was light-hearted and likeable, and I’d love to see more baseball books—or any other kind, honestly—from Ms. McCoy in future. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars
I love a good sports romance and I really don’t think there are enough baseball love stories out there. So, I was excited to read Katie McCoy’s debut novel, Game On and I really enjoyed it!
Main character Sophie Hall is given basically the story of her career, when she is asked to interview baseballs up and coming new star, Nathan Ryder. She feels like she has something to prove not only to herself, but to her co-workers who are mostly men and pretty much want to see her fail. Unfortunately Nathan doesn’t make her job easy, because he is a pretty hard nut to crack. With his reluctance to be interviewed and the sexual tension between the two of them (that they are both fighting), Sophia has a hard time getting her story.
The banter between Nathan and Sophia was super cute and although I am not the biggest baseball fan, after reading this book, I found myself wanting to watch a game just to check out those tight white pants and sexy buns on display! Nathan is definitely not your typical “player” main character. He is really sweet, giving, and loves doing charity work. There was a couple moments that things Sophia said got on my nerves, but she was still a very likeable main character. I think my only complaint about this book would be that is it a tad on the “insta-love” side. But, then it also is a shorter love story, so things had to move a little quicker. I loved the epilogue, but wish we got to see a bit further into the future of how things turned out.
If you are a fan of sports romance and are looking for a quick, sweet, sexy, love story then definitely pick this one up!
This was the first book I have read by Katie McCoy. Sophie lands a reporting job to interview Mr. up and coming baseball star, Nathan Ryder. I liked Nathan, he was sweet, and had substance. He immediately was attracted to Sophie and I really liked their relationship. Sophie grew on me. She lacked self confidence and was a little all over the place, at first. I would have liked this book to move a little faster, at times I got bored reading and I think it would have gone better if there hadn't been so much internal dialogue with Sophie. Still, it was good and I would read more by this author.
Really enjoyed this book. I love sports related books and even though the sports side was not the emphasis on this story, there was enough of it. This is a nice story of love and learning to trust. I read it in two days and loved the characters.
Nathan is as sweet as sugar and really a nice guy. It was a refreshing take on all the alpha male books out there.
Nathan Ryder is a college baseball player and Sophie Hall is a reporter who has been tasked with interviewing him.But he doesn't like reporters. This was okay read,I love sports romance books and this was funny read with lots of drama but in good way!
I had a lot of fun reading this book. It was fast-paced but well developed so it was a great way to spend some time after midterms.
I really liked Sophie and Nathan; both together and individually. Nathan was a total sweetheart that had me swooning really quickly. I liked that he wasn't some egotistical jock that Sophie "changes" as soon as they meet. Neither lost themselves when they met the other and that was really important to me. Sophie easily won me over as well and I loved watching her character develop.
There isn't too much to the plot but that really works to the romance's advantage. There is some great sexual tension between these two which makes reading this book so great (and so much fun!). Despite everything happening in a matter of days, I really saw why these two would work and that sold me on their romance.
Overall: a great sports romance story. One of the best baseball based stories I've read in a while! It's a solid debut!
What a great book! A really fun read with lots of drama and HOT scenes! Definitely has something for everyone.
Sophie has worked up to this moment her whole life. With an office full of men who doubt her skill as a journalist she needs this interview to go well to prove her worth. Interviewing Nathan Ryder could change her life and nothing, not even Nathan, is going to stop her. That is if she can get close enough to him to actually interview him.
Nathan hates journalists and Sophie has to use everything she has to get him to trust her. But the more she gets to know him, the harder she seems to fall. With her career on the line she tries to resist but with an undeniably attraction how long will she really be able to last?
Absolutely loved this book! I mean who could resist a hot baseball player who volunteers with kittens and kids?! Loved the chemistry and the story between these two – a must read!
This is the perfect book for when you're in the mood for something light and fluffy, without a lot of drama or serious subject matter. The writing is engaging and it didn't feel like a chore to finish this short book. The first person pov of the female MC is quite humorous at times, but I found it all to be a little contrived, like she was trying her best to be quick witted. The tension b/w the two MCs was middling at best, and the chemistry was just OK. I felt like this story had a lot of potential, but it was too underdeveloped for me. I liked that Nathan wasn't some gross, manwhore baseball player (although, who knows...he could have been before this book- like I said, underdeveloped) and he seemed like a sincerely nice guy. I liked that the female MC (I can't even remember her name and I just finished the book) was a hard worker and tried very hard to prove to everyone that she was more than just her looks. Unfortunately, this book just fell flat for me.
Nathan is a protective man, "Nathan’s eyes went round and I saw him take a step forward, his fingers curved in a fist. Before he could do something that Tim would most certainly be thrilled to put in his article, I plastered a big fake smile across my face and unwound myself from Tim’s sweaty grasp, stepping between the two of them." I really enjoyed this book Nathan was sweet and sexy.
This was a cute book. Nothing to write home about though...I guess I just prefer my H to be more assertive and OTT. Nathan was sweet, but there were times I wanted to punch him for being a jerk.
I am very used to reading books about up-and-coming college sports stars. They know they are good and they want the world to know how good they are. Although that never really bothered me, Game On wasn't like that. Nathan Ryder wasn't like that and it was a very refreshing reading experience for me. He was humble and down to earth. He spends his time at a no-kill animal shelter because he enjoys it and it makes him feel good and I thought that was so amazing and very worthy of a story.
I loved Sophie and how much she just wanted to create a story that showed the world what Nathan Ryder had in store and how much of an amazing person he was besides his mind blowing baseball skills. After seeing the cover (which, was extremely attractive by the way), I expected Nathan to be more of 'bad boy' but he was pretty much the exact opposite. He was a big, ball playing teddy bear who spent his free time with kittens and reading to children.
Sparks flew as soon as these two met and if I thought they were adorable together. The only problem was that Nathan -understandably- couldn't stand to be around reporters. He felt as if they were constantly waiting to dig up something that could ruin his career and I didn't blame him because that is very much the case a lot of times. However, no matter how much he tries to evade her and his growing feelings for her, it's impossible. I loved seeing him warm up to her and finally understand that maybe not all reporters are the same. I admired these two together because they very often brought out the good from one another. The epilogue was absolutely adorable and I honestly just wanted to keep reading more about these two.
Katie McCoy is a new author for me but I am very excited to see what she has in store after this book. It was a very funny, sweet, and undoubtedly sexy read.

This was my first Katie McCoy book, and I absolutely loved it. I haven't dabbled much into sports romances, but this story hits the top of my list. It wasn't like all of the others, and I loved that!
Nathan is a college senior, who is about to be drafted into the big leagues. Sophie is just trying to prove that she is a damn good journalist. One night at a bar, Nathan and Sophie hit it off, but to Nathan's horror, Sophie is a journalist who is supposed to interview him the next morning, and he sort of feels lied to. But it's hard to deny the chemistry the two of them have, and they can't stay away from each other. Sophie knew that she had to get this interview done, and every time she did Nathan would take her right of track. "But, of course, it's off the record." I'm normally someone who loves dual POV, but just reading from Sophie's view was great for me. I loved being inside her head and watching her help Mandy and Chris finally get together after hiding their feelings from each other. Nathan wasn't some arrogant jerk because he was being drafted to the big leagues, but he was a soft spoken kind of guy who loved volunteering at an animal shelter and cuddling kittens.
I don't know what else Katie has in story for me, but I will definitely be waiting!!
