The first day at Mortuary School begins with a bang for Imogene Lynch when a corpse is discovered in her biology class.

Tucking in neatly after To Dye For, Mortuary School is a novella continuing the Mortician Murders series. I adore the Imogene character and her perfectly imperfect lifestyle. Though there were fewer Phil-isms and Imogene wasn't quite as quirky or full of her initial dry humour from the first book, the story did have many appreciable moments.

Thank you to Greta Boris for this free copy. As always, my opinions are my own, honest and true.

This mystery is a quick read that you won’t want to put down and can read in one go. Imogene and her friends try to solve the murder when an additional body is found in the box with their cadaver. Given how short the book is, it is amazing how much humor, suspense and character development the author fitted in while also including a secret society, a special gift and the planning of a Halloween party in the midst of a murder mystery. Well worth the read.

Mortuary School by Greta Boris is a wonderful novella that you can read in one sitting. It is a mystery, a who dun it! It starts off with young Imogene heading off to Mortuary School, meeting some interesting people, who mostly come from families who are in this very competitive trade.

She then meets Cadaver Mike and Josh, who are keeping each other company in a one person box.
She joins a secret society and that is where the fun begins. This is a novella so there is not a lot of room for character development but I think the characters were quite underdeveloped, so much more could have been done to build and grow Imogene’s character, especially her gift, being the link she has with the afterlife.

I believe that if Greta Boris, the author, chose to write a book 2 about Imogene’s life, I would be very interested to read it. The story concept is great, the story structure is great, and I would love to see more.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author through Deadly Secrets: A mystery Anthology, Mortuary School is the third story I have read from this collection.

Mortuary School - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Imogene is committed to qualifying as a full-time mortician, (rather than a part-time intern at a funeral home and part-time as a beautician).
When her boss at the former pays her fees, she enrolls at the eponymous Cavendish Mortuary School.
Several mishaps and an eerie experience or two occur as our intrepid heroine joins an unusual society, where events turn a lot darker - literally!
Imogene, El and Rochelle are all believable and very engaging characters and Greta Boris has a magic touch in keeping the storyline flowing smoothly along, seeding a couple of red herrings and clues in the reader's mind to keep their attention throughout.

Very imaginative creative writing makes Mortuary School a great addition to her Mortician Mystery series, of which there are luckily 5 more already available.

Well worth reading - get it today and spread the word to all your book-lover friends!

One might think that reading a book about a mortuary school might be gory, but not Greta's book! This series is a variety of ... Humor, mystery, suspense, even drama!!
Immogine is secretly staying at her grandmother's home in a retirement community, secretly wanting to move to her own place, however doesn't want to hurt her grandmother's feelings. Meanwhile, she works two jobs & decides to go to mortuary school (one of her jobs will pay her tuition).
She is a hair stylist and works at a mortuary.
While she is beginning her school year, she ends up in a hazing situation, unaware of the perpetrator. There is a murder, secrets, and all the emotions mixed in with all the genres.
Greta is a FANTASTIC writer, and I have enjoyed several of her series, immensely!!
Thank you Greta for another FANTASTIC READ!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I started this book, I had no idea what the story would be about. Even half way through it, I didn't really know what the mystery would be. The heroine, Imogene Lynch, was simply pursuing her education goal at a strange school for morticians. Her encounters seemed a bit strange, but that didn't surprise me. Then she gets involved with members of a secret society and things take off. Luckily she has some good friends and makes more along the way. She has a special gift and also a sense of foreboding that sometimes make her life difficult, but in the end help her pull through a difficult, life-threatening situation. A quick read and a real page-turner.

Mortuary School, my eleventh read from author Greta Boris. After reading Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow earlier today I knew I had to read more from her and this relatively short read did not disappoint. Imogene’s gone to Mortuary School and of course trouble follows her. “I received a courtesy Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Bald-Headed Lies: A Supernatural Mortician Murder Mystery (The Mortician Murders Book 3) high on my TBR list. What a refreshing read.

Imogene has an extraordinary gift. She can sense how a person died simply by touching the corpse's hair. now her gift seems to be expanding and she can sense things without an actual corpse in close proximity.

I really enjoyed Mortuary School. The characters were well thought out and believable. It contains enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages.

Mortuary School was included in the Dead Silent Box Set and was the first book that I have read from this author. It most certainly will not be the last.

Mortuary School is part of the Mortician Murders series. Imogene has decided to leave her career as a hair stylist and enroll in mortuary school. Her first class will unveil Cadaver Mike and a new addition to his box, Josh. Josh’s murder will set Imogene on a path, including joining a secret society. As she follows the clues, Imogene will find herself confronted by the killer. A cute, easy to read, novella. Though I did enjoy this fast-read, I wish there had been more development to this story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a quicker read than the first book and mainly centers around the first few days of Imogene in mortuary school. While I liked the book, I missed the lovable characters from the series like Gran and El (he was briefly in the book). I did like some of the additional characters and a new setting, although I missed the town too.
The book was interesting and had a good story line. Fast paced and a little more paranormal than the first book. I loved the secret society aspect.

I love Greta Boris books. This one is kinda creepy in a different kind of way from her others. There were a few needed edits and since the book has been out a couple of years they could have been fixed.
It was good to catch up on the background for the others in this series.
Greta Boris has a strange mind to come up with these ideas.

A whodunnit which a touch of the supernatural. Who would have thought that a book about the dead would be so interesting and informative. I love the way the author keeps you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book.

Embalming bodies - dead people who need your help - and the living who may want you dead - all in a day's work for Imogine. An original concept and perfectly crafted, you're going to fall for this author's engaging and skillfully written story. Highly Recommended.

Decent enough but why not more of Imogene's gift? Isn't that her special feature? Missed opportunity here for a better story.

An interesting trip through Mortuary School, or at least the start. As you can imagine it takes some strange twists. It seems that there is some afterlife, but the story doesn't go that way very far. We just find some people who are a bit damaged and don't really know how to be the best the can be. But we also see some quite interesting people.
