Over four hundred years ago, Malachai Noble’s family murdered mine. Days ago, he personally ordered the death of my best friend, and in doing so, stole whatever future Roman DeLuca and I were tiptoeing toward. Now I’m Malachai’s prisoner, with no way home, and nowhere to go but forward. He’s my escort toward execution. But I go willingly, because the moment I step on to enemy territory, I intend to avenge centuries of sins committed upon my people. My name is Tallulah Aurelia Della Katarina King, and soon, I’m to be crowned queen of Luméa—but first, I must prove I don’t need a king. If only the long days, and steamy nights I’ve spent with my enemy in this bloodthirsty forest weren't making me doubt myself.
Emilia Finn is an Amazon Top 20 bestselling, Australia-based author with more than 55 books written and published to date.
She's a mom, a coffee addict, a collector of quirky coffee mugs, and before she had kids, she was a real-life full-contact fighter.
Her experience on the fight circuits helped her pen her first ever book—Finding Home—featuring a world champion MMA fighter Bobby Kincaid, and his leading lady and equal in every way, Kit Reilly. What was only supposed to be a once off experience instead turned into a career for Emilia, a thriving empire, and a daily grind she never wants to be rescued from.

Main characters: - Tully:❣️❣️❣️ - Malachai: ❣️❣️❣️
POV: The story is told from Tully and Kai's POV
Writing: ✍️✍️✍️ Hmmm... I love Finn's writing, but this book is sometimes so confusing, especially the world building... And their feelings are everywhere... They are Inamorata, so why I don't feel their love, connection and chemistry??? Maybe the next book will be better... The last few chapters were better and more interesting.
This book was messy and unfocused. The prologue was the perfect indicator: the queen yelling a story that rambles off course and has no point while making numerous self aggrandizing statements which apparently make everyone love her. Yeah right. This is teen drama with lots of toxic masculinity, with hints of dubious consent. Despite being 25 years old, the princess is apparently a childish, unskilled whiner who has minimal leadership traits and apparently spends her time expecting others to rescue her and lead for her (namely Rome). The dialogue was disappointing, with people throwing insults and bragging like teenagers, distracting each other on a war mission instead of focusing like the trained adults they supposedly are. The relationship drama is high school worthy and the characters thinly developed. No one is actually likable or interesting. I skimmed after the first 20 or so pages and finally gave up 200 pages in.
I’m a huge fan of Fantasy novels. I could hardly wait to read one by Emilia. The storyline was good and well thought out. She did a good job with creating different beasts in this new world but not so much on the food. No one really expects people who eat pizza and burgers to fight with swords and crossbows but hey at least the rehydrated meal was more in keeping with a fantasy genre. I was not surprised by the end of the book. While yes a cliffhanger stinks, what was left hanging was not unexpected. I’m excited to see where this story will lead. Maybe more will be discussed on how this human race has managed to live for so long.
2.5. TAB (taking a break) but might go back and finish later, so not a DNF yet. I'm about 25% through and not particularly engaged. There are some tired tropes (bitches who pull your hair, even though they train in combat for 4 hours everyday for the past 8 years, still only know how to pull hair in a fight?) No reason for that conflict except bitches, am i right? All the characters feel incredibly juvenile and one dimensional. Are they 14 year old going through puberty, or a class of warriors who train relentlessly to best their arch foes? It's supposed to be the latter, but all the actions and dialogue seem to be the former. Also, the world building is confusing, they have glitter and bleach blonde hair dye but not guns or distance communication. There are few enough people that they all go to a single location because of alarms, but 10,000 military people is only an investigation party or part of the military? I'm not any type of military strategist, but when you lead you're people into an obvious trap (that many people note in a trap) and then you're rescue quickly leads the rest of the army into an obvious trap (again that is noted as a trap), maybe pay attention and reassess? I guess those decades and centuries of military training were for not. I don't mind having the obvious happen in a book, but if we could get there a little more creatively or at least a little more quickly, that would greatly help. I think this book could have potential, and sometimes an author isn't great at the setup but good with meat and potatoes, so I might come back to it. I'll rewrite my review if I do.
I am impressed with how well Emilia wrote this, and I really enjoyed hearing more about her relationship with BK to write this book. I always enjoy reading series by Emilia Finn and I really hope she decides to make another series like this with Kai's brothers even tho she has said it's a stand alone series of only 3 books.
I love Emilia Finn but was hesitant to read this book as it is fantasy driven. I love her real world things. Once I decided to read this, I very much enjoyed reading this and actually read the series again. It was a fun and different world for Emilia. The parts that were harder was due to the current world items randomly dropped into the story. It is set very far in the future with fantasy elements but then they are playing pool or eating pizza. It kind of pulled me out of the fantasy world for a bit. Overall this is a good story. I definitely enjoyed it more reading all three books together. It made the unresolved plot points easier to take when you know the next story is ready and waiting for you.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Inamorata series and ends in a cliffhanger. The reality in this universe has a country split into directions and different leaderships. The people populating the N, S, E, and W have magical abilities to control either air, water, fire or earth. The people also have a really long life span of over 500 years with little aging. The North and the South have a shared history, with the actions of their ancestors causing a hundreds year old war.
>When the future King of the North, Malakai, captures the future Queen of the South, Tully, they discover their shared history may not be based in fact. Their whole journey starts out horrid, with Kai mistreating Tully, until he realizes she is his fated mate, or inamorata. I get the whole fated mate thing, but I needed more true feelings from Kai and Tully, not just forced feelings because they figured out they were fated. Kai is protective of Tully, but Tully needed some jealousy or something to show her feelings for Kai. The author does introduce an ex of Kai, but never puts her into the path of Tully.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I love the time the author took to show the relationship between Tully and her bodyguard, BFF, Rome. His feelings of betrayal were all the more poignant later on.
“I’m here to add to your life, not take anything away.”
I love Emilia Finns’s contemporary romance and decided to give her romantasy a try. I thought this was a great start to this trilogy. It’s an enemies to lovers romance with fated mates vibes. I always enjoy the fated mates trope and that was no different here. The characters seemed to accept their fated mates status pretty easily though and it was a bit of an abrupt jump from enemies to lovers. The characters were likable at least in the end. I struggled with Kai in the beginning but he really grew on me. Tully was a queen AND a warrior and I appreciated that she wasn’t some delicate flower. The supporting characters added humor (Ari) and layers (Rome) to help flesh out the story. The world building wasn’t overly detailed but I did get enough to get a sense of what it was all about. The political intrigue helped keep things interesting too. Between the secrets, relationships, and political machinations, I was invested in the story hook, line and sinker. I also found this to be well written and paced for the most part. This book was a good foundation for the story to come and I’ll be eagerly picking up the next installment. I’d have no problem recommending this to fellow romantasy fans.
I love Emilia Finn's style of writing and the characters she creates, some a lot more than others. I kept seeing this in my recommendation section, but I always passed right by it. The cover didn't do and out to me much and the summary of what this story could be didn't intrigue me much. But because she's one of my favorite authors I felt compelled to give this story a chance. It was a little difficult to get past the first two to three chapters simply because those chapters were telling the story between two tribes sworn to be eternal enemies until one defeated the other other. I easily guessed where the story was headed but there was a slight plot twist I didn't see coming towards the end. In the end, I applaud Emilia for trying something different. It's not at the same level as the Checkmate series for me (that's my absolute fave series), but it's definitely more than average. I'm intrigued enough to find out what happens next and that's really what truly matters. She has captured my attention and can't wait to see how this story ends.
I really wanted to like this book but I couldn’t anymore. The H does not deserve the h at all, I understand they are enemies but I feel like he was just to cruel. He captured the h has her bound and blindfolded and constantly pushes her has her falling and slipping on ice that he creates with his power. There was at one point when she was sleeping and freezing because of him so he decides to warm her up so he starts thinking about the summer when he’s with some other girl which makes me sick, so here we have our H warming up our h by thinking about fucking OW, how romantic. And here we have our h who saves the H from some type of animal and tells him next time she’ll let him die but then she help heal his shoulder when he was attacked by a different type of animal. Yeah he saves her once but it was his fault because he throws her in the river with her hands bound and she asked him to untie her hand so she could swim but he doesn’t so she drowns. There’s more that pisses me off but I have to stop or I’ll be here all day making them all.

This book is exceptional! A perfect mix of another world (with magic) but still modern somehow, deep and likable characters with tension in places, love and hate, peace and fighting, right and wrong, funny and serious, and add in a bit of sexiness to it and you got yourself an exceptional book. I am glad I waited for all the books to be out before I started reading this series, it ends on a cliffy. Emilia Finn was really good about communicating the series plan and guiding readers to make their choice (read and suffer the wait until the next release or wait until they all released and binge). I started to follow her after reading a book I fell in love with (Pawns In The Bishops Game) but this is just as amazing with excellent character writing, world building, scene setting, and plotting. I’m racing to move on to book 2!
I had no idea what to expect from this book, since it’s such a departure from Emilia’s Rollertown world, but I’m totally hooked! Although I still hate cliffhangers and my heart has yet to recover from the enormous plot twist at the end of this book that should thrill me, but has left me utterly confused, I trust that Emilia will wrap it all up awesomely, because she always does!! I can’t really give my opinions without giving anything away! Wow! This is really a book that must be experienced blindly—no spoilers! It’s a great ride! I don’t know if I’ll survive the wait for the next book, but I know it will be worth it!! Emilia Finn is a master of her craft, in my opinion!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow, this book...it’s a whole new world for Emilia. But knowing Brooke’s writing in Full House, I knew it was still going to be epic. It was more than I expected. There were parts that made my heart ache & there was a point where I said “I don’t like the way this is going...I can’t do this.” Did I put it down? NO!! Bc I can’t, I was intrigued. I still needed to know. These two are so explosive when they come together. A forbidden love that didn’t stand a chance of being squashed. The suspense & secrets...just kept you wanting to guess what’s next. But in true Emilia fashion, you never can get your guesses quite right. Great start to a new world, Emilia...I’m ready for more!!
This book/story was bland. It took me a while to get into it. The dialogue was dry and writing style was generic. I felt no connection to any character. The two main characters lacked chemistry and author failed to sell me this great love that grew out of nothing but sudden physical attraction and hate that quickly turned to mated love. This was yet another book that describes a male character's eyelashes being so long they touch the top of his cheekbones. I mean why are these writers being ridiculous with such nonsense, just try and imagine a man with such long lashes, probably touching his forehead too once he opens his eyes. Seriously why are so many writers recycling this cringe worthy content.
Seriously! 🤯 I have LOVED Emilia’s world since I first met Bobby and Kit. There is no comparison between that world and this new, exciting, and magical world because they are so completely different. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Emilia in this type of genre, but she absolutely blew me away. The storyline, the intrigue, the enemies-to-lovers, the damn CLIFFHANGER 🤦🏼♀️‼️ I cannot wait for the second book to come out. If this world is anything like her other world, this story will transcend time. WELL DONE!!!!
From the moment this book started, I was drawn into a new world that Emilia Finn has created. From the Lumé to the Xeo, to the creatures living in the in-between, I immersed myself into Tully and Kai’s world. They come from different families,, both told stories of the others betrayal and trained to end a war that has been going on for 400 years. Can they put aside a feud that has been woven into their histories to bring peace once and for all? I loved this first book in the new series and can’t wait for the second!!
In a world far away a young woman learns to be a warrior. Her grandmother leads an army away and she becomes the acting queen. When grandma doesn't return when she's supposed to our h forms up another army and marches off to rescue her. During a battle she is captured. This can be read as a stand alone, with an ending that is unsatisfying and left me hanging, wanting to turn the page to finish the battle. I would recommend the book, but have the sequel ready so you can finish the battle. I would give it 3.5 stars. The story pulls you in.
Emilia Finn is my favorite author but I have never read a fantasy book so I was filled with dread going in honestly. I was so afraid I wouldn't like it! I loved it and look forward to others in this series. I would have loved to see more of them being able to just be together and get to know each other more. So basically a longer book haha and more love scenes. BUT trust Emilia Finn, and give this a try and you'll love it too!
Well hello syfi action adventure! Woah! What an amazing alterative universe! I have to say this book was not expected. I mean some parts absolutely were (strong female, bullheaded male) but honestly the new environment really put this out there. It's so unlike your previous works! It was just a little bit of this and a dash of that and wallah! adventure! Excitement! Death! Evil villain! Plot twists! 10/10 girl you're Killin it!
I am not a fantasy fan - it’s just never been my thing. But I LOVE Emilia Finn, so I decided to give this book a chance and boy am I glad. I sped read through this book. I couldn’t put it down. I was completely sucked in from the get go with this one. I’m SUPER FRICKIN BUMMED THAT IT ENDED. Can’t wait for the next installment. Definitely a must read!
Amila Finn has a way of captivating you with her words and writing style. She has you falling in love over and over again and when you think you've found your favorite, she comes back with more. This is a new series of hers and she did not disappoint! Can't wait to see what happens next for Tully❤️💙
Once again Emilia Finn delivers a book that grabs you and doesn’t let go. This was my first ever read of this genre, and there is no other author I’d rather follow into the unknown than Emilia. I must say Tully and Kai made my heart race in the best way as they came together to survive their journey. Can’t wait for book two.
I had a bit of a slow start with this one but it isn't my norm. Although what I thought was slow was actually building this new world for the reader to understand. The twists and turns along with the strengths of the characters grabbed me and didn't let go. I can't wait for the next chapters.
Warning: reading about this princess leaves you with a cliff hanger and wanting more as soon as you get to the end. This story had a bit of the kind of predictability you were hoping for. Forced proximity turns from bitter hate to love and understanding. Now, we patiently await the rest of the series.
Not my usual type of book. The first chapter was tough to get into because of that, but as soon as I got the correct pronunciations and began to understand the characters, I fell in love! This was really amazing and so much more than I expected. Well written, well edited, great story line, deeply emotional and humorous. Can wait for book 2!
I wasn’t sure I’d get into this book since it’s really Brooklyn’s book, and I knew that. Was I wrong… I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for the next one in the series to be released this October. Your books are such a joy to read even though I’m on my toes. Your characters are so real. I’m even rooting for the aguars!! Thank you!
This book intimidated me, so I had a hard time starting it. I am not generally a fantasy type of fan. I also knew things from the little snippets in Brook’s stacked deck story. I was nervous to read about the death of characters that you attach to.
Oh my, this book sucked me in and was amazing. I don’t know how I will wait till October.
So I never ever write reviews and felt the need to with this book. I loved it. I have read all of Emilias books except Redeeming the Rose and chasing fire so far. She is awesome and I love how fast she puts out new books but I think I might go crazy having to wait until October to read the next book in this series!
