Not much to say on this review. Was it worth 600 pages? heck no! Was it worth the two days I spent on this book? NOPE! 😫 This was worse than the first book, the story just kept getting draaaagggeeedddd… I literally skimmed through a lot of chapters, I also just skipped a lot of the sex scenes because they were repetitive and I got bored. 😑

Sorry. Not sorry. I didn’t like the book. 🤷🏼‍♀️

There are times when I don't understand Charlotte. First of all, whenever you say you have no choice. That means you don't want to take responsibility for what you do. I'm irritated by Charlotte's relationship with Xanders. She said she didn't love, didn't care, and Blame it all because of him. That was right, but her actions were the opposite and contradicting each other many times. Even though she's defensive, having a common past, in fact, she just doesn't want to admit that. She betrayed Lucio. I don't like her behavior especially at xanders' funeral. I understand the feeling of sadness But the situation at that time If I were Lucio, I would think that Charlotte loves xanders. so many times I don't see sincerity Or her love for Lucio, she betrayed him.

for Lucio I think he is weak contrary to the Don's position in the family When he learned that Charlotte had betrayed relationship of the two not yet profound besides not punishing He still gave her a good life. Trapped in an apartment that has everything. Be a prisoner with a privilage He tried to be angry with her. But in the end couldn't. I was disappointed. For me...Charlotte should have been taught a lesson. Although she did not sell the secret to the Polish. But she didn't cut off xanders. she helped him . Charlotte is still betrayed. Many times she made mistakes And I don't really like , you say, you'll tell, but there's no chance... if real life You want to talk, just say It's not an excuse Only Charlotte chooses not to speak.

Whatever, for me, this novel There are many fun parts. But may have to be patient with Charlotte's character.

I know I am so behind in book reviews, apologies.

I am currently reading this book. I've had to pause Nicole Fox's books for awhile, but the blurb for this book got me curious. But I am on book 2 of this story and I am frustrated for the same reason why I paused her books in the first place.

I enjoy her mafia books, but the way she recycle plots and make the H, who is the mafia boss, make rookie mistakes that he wouldn't have made in the beginning of the books frustrates me so much that I lose enjoyment of the books because it is not consistent. This is what I mean when I say recycled plots and rookie mistakes:

1. In the beginning of the story, the H a mafia boss is seen as powerful with a lot of loyal men at his side, but then towards the climax of the story, the H suddenly loses all or most of his men through ambush attacks that could have been easily foreseen or the men all of a sudden changes loyalty to the villain who makes it clear that he views his men as pawns. Why would the men change loyalty to someone who doesn't care about them.
2. The H is in a war with another group, but he acts as if everything is fine. He goes to the restaurant or somewhere without any backup and then act surprise when he is ambushed.
3. The H who in the beginning has many men start acting solo without back up and fighting alone.
4. The H starts making dumb choices like inviting his enemy into his compound and leaves him to wander around or having a bachelor party in his compound after a huge attack that left many dead.
5. By the end of the book, the H loses most of his men, but instead of making sure anyone survived or checking up on their families which the H would have done in the beginning of the story, the H ends up just starting a new mafia.
In all, the H described in the beginning of the book ends up being a different H by the middle of the book. Ugh, it's frustrating!

5.0 -Character development
5.0 -Story line/plot
4.0 - evolving story
3.0 - book 2 was too long and drawn out
3.0 - some content was too repetitious

Charlotte and Luca's story concluded in book 2. I liked both characters because they had flaws and were far from perfect throughout both books. They were not only believable but felt like normal people with their doubts and vulnerabilities who were trying to get though a very precarious set of circumstances. They made allot of mistakes and had allot of do overs but in the end came together when it was important. Their attraction for one another was off the charts throughout this book even when the "trust issues" rose their ugly heads. There was allot of back and forth when it came to trusting one another which became tedious at times but also had it's place in the plot.

The suspense and story really takes off in book 2 with the Polish Mafia, the FBI and the re-emergence of Shona, Luca's ex as well as Evie (his little girl who captured his heart in book 1). Lorenzo and Adrian's characters are so refreshing and so important in book 2. They add to the banter that goes between characters and keep things real when Adrian goes off the deep end or when he needs a reality check. There are allot of twists and turns and revelations that lead the reader on a roller coaster of suspense, emotions, and angst.

My only complaint about the second book was that it was too long. I felt at times some dialogue was repetitious or that we were once again addressing the same topic; read and repeat.

It's a good read with characters that are can resonate with most readers, even those that may be new to Mafia genre.

Wow…just wow part two will make you stop whatever you are currently reading to start or finish where book one left off. Let’s say Lucio was beyond mad, hurt, trust broken yet he still loved Charlotte oh he didn’t even know he loved her, or should I say how much he loved her until he sent her away. She was the light to his darkness; he was the guiding star to her lost way and the two of them together were unstoppable and let’s not forget happy. After killing the Polish leader for her no less his brother steps into his shoes and he is worse this the previous leader and he is out for blood. Charlotte realizes that the man she sacrificed so much for was just a jerk and never really cared for her. She stayed with him because she felt like she belonged somewhere to someone/anyone, no matter how bad they are /were for and to her. After some fighting and then more fighting between Lucio and Charlotte they finally come to an agreement. Also, Lucio finds out his daughters’ mother was something else she played both sides the Polish and the FBI. Again, emotional bounds weren’t on the menu, and attachments certainly weren’t supposed to form. But when love rears her beautiful head and throws yet another wrench into the works then you get two people who love each other but yet both afraid to tell each other how they feel but war has a way of bringing love into perspective. Can the two of them get through the war, the F.B.I. and will their love survive all that is thrown their way?

WOW! What a great continuation from Liar’s Lullaby. It was very hard to put my Kindle down as I was so into the story. Lucio is hurt, mad, upset, devastated that he fell for Charlotte’s lies and that she betrayed him with the Polish mafia. He was finally starting to care about someone other than himself and he loses his daughter. He punishes Charlotte by putting her up in a nice apartment (yeah, that’s rough!). He is torn because he feels something for her, but he is beyond pissed that she betrayed him. Charlotte is hopeful that Lucio will come around and see that she really does care about him and Evie and that she was about to tell him the truth. Only she didn’t get a chance before Evie was kidnapped.

The second part of this story has everything you need for a good mafia story – explosions, betrayal, fighting, double agents, suspense, twists, darkness, passion, revelations, and secrets. I really enjoyed how Nicole Fox let you get to know Lucio and Charlotte on a more personal level. You learned about their childhoods and their feelings (or lack of). I felt like I was able to connect to Lucio and Charlotte and felt each of their emotions during the story. Great story, great characters and I really hope that there is a book in the making for Lucio’s right hand man Adriano! I look forward to reading more by Nicole Fox. This is the second simply captivating instalment of this book
When Charlotte had been brought into his home initially it had been because she had been caught lying and stealing and this is something that the head of the Mazzeo family must be seen to deal with harshly.
He had allowed her to stay after she had been punished and he had then allowed her to help him raise the baby daughter he had not even known existed suddenly arriving on his doorstep when she had died. He had taken his daughter in to his home and had allowed her free movement and a free hand as his daughter’s nanny.
His daughter will be found and when she has been those that have taken her will be made to pay dearly and he will then spend every waking moment finding the woman he had started to trust.
Charlotte Dunn will regret the day she was born and he will ensure that she never forgets the fact that she has been traitor to both him and his little girl, this is unforgiveable she should never have known the fear of being taken by strangers, held for ransom.
Not His Little Girl!!!
A totally riveting read that you will not be able to put down once you start reading.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

After the tense ending of the previous book, in this Charlotte is not going to have a better time. Knowing that she betrayed Lucio’s trust, she eagerly awaits his next move.
Lucio is shocked to discover that his ex-fiancé Sonya, Evie’s mother, is still alive.
Sonya takes Evie from him and he desperately searches for her for months.
Charlotte wants to get her back too and to regain Lucio’s trust she gets into the lion’ den, she infiltrates again with the Polish.
This book will not lack action. There are moments where you don’t know who is going to die next, full of twists and full also of very hot and passionate moments.

“So what now, Sonya?” I ask, disgusted and exhausted. “What was the point of all this?””If you really want Evie back, then you’ll do exactly what I’ve told Kazimierz you will. You will hand over control of the Family to him.” “That’s never gonna fucking happen.” “Then you’re never going to see Evie again.”

Charlotte. I already know that sex with another woman is only going to leave me dissatisfied and frustrated. There’s only one of her. My cock is still hard, but I ignore it. Even rubbing one out wouldn’t put a dent in the thing that’s consuming me. Not after I’ve had the real thing so recently. Not after I’ve had her tight little pussy on my cock, milking me and moaning like music in my ear. A sinner’s lullaby for me and me alone.

Lucio and Charlotte continue to burn up the pages, sheets, doors, supply rooms, walls, wine cellars and assorted surfaces with a passionate hate-love-hate-love story that concludes in SINNER’S LULLABY.

There is so much I loved about this story. I don’t know which moved me more - Lucio’s first true understanding of what love felt like with his young daughter, or his fierce battle with himself over Charlotte’s betrayal.

There was never a lull in the action whether it was raids by the feds, ambushes by the Polish mafia, or emotional boatloads with exes. Both Charlotte and I had some misplaced suspicions, and Luc and I were infuriated with Charlotte’s inability to listen when he was trying to keep her safe. Evie and I (understandably) had a huge difference of opinion regarding Sonya.

The duet really worked. The players in the Mazzeo Family I want to know more about are Enzo and Adriano. I have a feeling all that was going on with Adriano is novel worthy on its own. To be prepared, read the Matteo Mafia Family duet of Liar’s Lullaby and SINNER’S LULLABY by Nicole Fox.

'Sinner's Lullaby', the second instalment in the 'Mazzeo Mafia' duet, doesn't disappoint one bit and brings us the conclusion to Charlotte and Lucio's story. As with the first book, Nicole Fox achieved the perfect balance of drama, intrigue, action and steam, with complex and realistic characters.

The characters persevere in their struggle to find out who they truly are and to accept their place in their violent world. They continue to fight their battles, to grow and to develop, both individually and in their various relationships. They face unforeseen challenges within their relationships and with the outside world, weaving an intricate web of tangible angst, pain and anguish. All of this is combined with love, loyalty, trust, passion and fast-paced action to make this book completely captivating and enthralling. I cannot recommend this duet enough and will definitely be reading more books by this author.

Disclaimer: I received this book as a free ARC for my honest opinion and review.

This has quickly become one of my favorite duets by Nicole Fox! I loved Sinner's Lullaby! Lucio and Charlotte were great together. They really had to work on their issues to be able to work together for the bigger picture. I loved Lucio's growth in this. He really had to confront his feelings and decide what he really wants. I also loved that he didn't change too much, sometimes the guys get super sappy and Lucio stayed true to himself. Charlotte was great here just as she was in the first one. I really liked her character.
There were lots of unexpected twists that made the story super exciting. I had a hard time putting it down and because of that I ended up reading it in only a couple sittings. I was hooked. Nicole does so well with her character development and you become invested in these characters. You want them to do well and find what they need because they are like friends now. Such a well done book. Well written and thought out. Very entertaining and exciting and a must read! I loved it and recommend it highly!

I betrayed Lucio's trust, but I didn't betray Lucio.
Lucio finds it extremely hard to trust anyone. So when he learns of Charlotte's betrayal he is crushed. But, the Don of the Mazzio Crime family doesn't show emotions and Charlotte is not going to change that. He'll use her for what he needs. She decided to betray him, so she'll have no choice In what he decides to do with her. In order to make amends, she'll do exactly what he tells her to do, when he tells her to do it, no questions asked. And I'm sure that will work just fine with sassy Charlotte. Lucio will make sure she learns quickly, no one crosses the Don. The only part that really ticked me off, was Lucio not letting Charlotte explain what happened. And...everytime Charlotte had the opportunity to explain she didn't. She left the important parts showing her innocence out. Drove me nuts! All in all I have to say that this two book series is up there with "The best I've ever read." As far as stars, we're only able to leave five. What the hell, let's do this again!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book - amazing! It's the continuing story of Lucia, Charlotte and Evie. However, there is one more important person that causes so much trouble in this book. Yes, Charlotte lied, but it was something that she was trying to correct, but Lucia was not even willing to listen to her side. Poor Charlotte, she really has never had anyone on her side, that is except her best friend Vanessa. She wants to help Lucia in the war that is developing between the Polish mafia and Mazzeo family. Whatever was thrown at Charlotte, even though she was scared out of her mind, she stayed calm and defiant. She found herself in positions she was not used to, but played them very well. It was so hard for Lucia to forgive, and you wanted to slap him sometimes, but between him and Evie, you just prayed that he saw the "light." This is a great Duet - Everyone should read these books. I HIGHLY recommend this duet. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

This is one of the best duets from Nicole Fox. There is so much going with Lucio and Charlotte as well as the Polish, the FBI, Evie's mom, and Evie. This is an amazing conclusion to their epic journey to finally find happiness and be able to be a family. There is a lot of action and adventure in book 2. There is a lot going on with the Polish still wanting to kill Lucio and Charlotte. As well as trying to use Evie as leverage to get Lucio to bend. He also has the FBI breathing down his neck and there are threats coming from all over.

Don't worry though the plans that he executes are superb and you will thoroughly enjoy him and Charlotte's reunion and future plans as well. They are such a powerful couple and their love for Evie is beyond anything they could ever wish for. Being parents to that little girl is their ultimate goal and nothing will stop them from loving her and each other. Happy Reading!

Part 2 of Lucio and Charlotte's Story

Part 2 is longer than part 1, but it is a more enjoyable and entertaining book.
Whoever wrote the blurb of this book either did not read the book or they were purposely misleading the reader.
Lucio Mazzeo is the Don of his family. He is very dominant and domineering, but he demonstrates a softer, loving side towards his daughter and Charlotte in this book.
Charlotte Dunn has tempered her sharp tongue and defensive behavior, devoting herself to Lucio and Evie.
The nemesis Sofia is described in conflicting ways. Book 1 identified her as Lucio's wife, who had disappeared 7 years prior. When she was first introduced in book 2, it was as his ex-fiancee, then as his wife, and then, finally, as the fiancée who had fled 2 weeks before their wedding.
The Polish mob, especially both Dons, are portrayed as pure evil, brutal and violent.
The book is long but entertaining. I recommend it.

Absolutely Stunning Conclusion to Lucio and Charlotte’s story!
The ending from book one of the Mazzeo Mafia Duet left me reeling on what Lucio would do after the Polish’s revelation on Charlotte. I felt how torn Lucio was by Charlotte’s betrayal, so he pushes her out of his physical sight, but never out of his mind. The plot twists abound with Lucio’s ex harsh dealings of him and their daughter, so Lucio has no option, but to bring Charlotte into play in his plan against the Polish. I love that Charlotte has no qualms putting her own life at risk for Lucio and his daughter. As Lucio’s unknown feelings for Charlotte gets further muddled, will Lucio be able to pull off the exploit of the year with the Polish and FBI after him? You have to read to find out and won’t put the book down until you turn the last page!

This is the 2nd and continuation of Lucio and Charlette’s story. Lucio is left devasted and broken by what he classes as Charlotte’s betrayal, and once he gets his little girl Evie back from kidnappers, he intended to find Charlotte and extract vengeance that will make her rue the day she was born. As the was between the Polish and Italian mafia escalates Charlette finds herself in the middle. Bring in Evie’s mother back on the scene and things become complicated. This is a well written action-packed storyline which is an emotionally charged story, and is action packed with betrayal, lies, secrets, twists, suspense, drama, and love, which all leads to riveting and steamy all-consuming read. I was totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This book was better than the 1st one. Even though Charlotte was putting her life on the line for Evie, she still kept neglecting to tell him things that she knew he should know. This caused his distrust in her. Also, it caused many of the problems in their relationship which caused others to get hurt. This was beyond not trusting, this was just being neglectful which I understood why he continued to not trust her. I did like when they were working together to get Evie back, both were willing to sacrifice them selves. Both were raised with parents who showed them no love and were not willing to put them ahead of their own needs. This was a toxic relationship that required a lot of work to survive. Finally, both where able to tell each other how they felt by showing the 3 of came first.

This is a mafia romantic suspense at its best by this talented author, I devoured this book in two days, I just loved it, plenty of intrigue and action, bloody at times, a storyline full of twists turns and betrayals, described with such in-depth detail that I could actually imagine myself there. Following on from book one Liar’s Lullaby, Lucio is finally trying to settle into his new role as a father to Evie, when someone from his past returns trying to take it all away!!!
Charlotte is besotted by Lucio but he is a hard man to love, (he doesn’t take kindly to betrayal) however she constantly gets herself into trouble trying to prove herself. Is it possible Charlotte and Lucio could have a future together, with the DEA and a rival mafia family close on there heels could this be the end for the Mazzeo mafia family.
This is definitely a duet you will not want to miss. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was totally happy to provide.

Now I can exhale the breath I have been holding since Book 1! The cliffhanger was a dozy but now we find out "the rest of the story". Lucio had a terrible childhood and so did Charlotte, maybe that is why they have such a strong attraction as they try to find out what a "family" means. There are so many twists turns, breath catches as we are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Through it all, Evie and Enzo' character are wonderful surprises as we get to see their real personality begin to soar. There is a surprise thrown in at the end concerning Adriano (another fascinating character) which gives me hope that he might be included in an upcoming new book, hint, hint.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

This book picks up exactly where Liar’s Lullaby left us. Charlotte is now a prisoner in an apartment being guarded by Lucio’s men and little Evie has been stolen by her mother leaving Lucio heartbroken. Lucio plots and schemes to get his little girl back while fighting his feelings for Charlotte despite her betrayal. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat so many twists and turns. Just when you’re sure you know what will happen next there’s another twist! Will Lucio be able to forgive Charlotte and trust her? Will he be able to get his daughter back safely? Will the FBI or the Polish be the ones to take Lucio down? Or perhaps his own broken heart will do the job! I could not read this book fast enough to get to the answers.

Sinner’s Lullaby is the second book in Nicole Fox’s Mazzeo Mafia series. It continues the story of Lucio and Charlotte. Charlotte tries to atone for her sins and suffers in isolation for it. She reconnects with Lucio and their intense relationship resumes due to their combustible chemistry. To make amends she works to help Lucio putting herself in jeopardy. She is determined to help Lucio reconnect with little Evie.

Once again, Ms. Fox uses vivid scenes of explosions, fighting, and double agents to move her fast-paced plot along. The dialog is intense. I liked how Charlotte and Lucio preserve and in so doing discover their identities. Ms. Fox is a master at character development. Her lead characters are multi-layered with personality flaws. In presenting their path, Ms. Fox reaches out to readers and laves them hoping for a happy ending. Well done, Ms. Fox!
