He rescued her from the flames, but she set his heart on fire…

Fiona has been healing her clan’s people ever since her memories are remembered. But not long after a sick child dies in her hands, she is accused of witchery, and her life is suddenly hanging by a thread.

Yet fate has another plan for her…

Malcom Dunn, Laird of Lennoch castle, is a widower with a young son. When death threatens to take his little boy away from him, he asks for the so-called witch as a last resort to save his son’s life.

What he does not expect to see under the sorceress’s veil, however, is a disarmingly beautiful woman.

Despite what the whispers in the corridors say, Malcom can’t help the spark of desire that Fiona ignites. But before they can give in to their growing passion, a mysterious disease creeping through the castle makes Malcom question Fiona’s true intentions.

With death looming at every corner, can she make him trust her? And how can she find the real reason behind all these misfortunes before it’s too late?

He saved her body from the fire, but he was the one to put her heart aflame…

Kenna Kendrick is an American based author of Historical Scottish Romance living in Austin Texas with her husband and three children. Her, more than 25-year-old, experience as an English Teacher has brought her close to the literary world, growing her love for fictional stories.

Her love for literature was also strong because of her father John, who used to write crime-stories. While she tried following on her father's footsteps, a trip to Scotland sealed the deal, as she fell in love with the Celtic myths and the bleak Highlands.

This book is perfect for lovers of angst, but the plot itself was rather predictable and I started to skim at 35%. The villain was obvious, so obvious that I found the characters’ ignorance and naïveté to be tedious and painful—thus the skimming.

My personal opinions in regards to the main characters:

She Was His Everything and She Was His Savior:
Let's just say I made the mistake of starting this book in the evening and I lost a lot of sleep because I could not stop turning the pages until my eyes gave out in the wee hours.
One of the best healer stories I have read in a vey long time. There was never a dull or slow moment in this book. An adult romance with passionate intimacy before marriage.
The story is about the healer Fiona and the laird Malcom. Both have had trouble pasts and have emotional scars that make this a very intriguing and tense story. They helped each other to heal and find their love for each other. A very despicable villain who is very deceptive.
There are so many enjoyable moments. The lairds son was entertaining, the magic of a special tea, a mysterious deadly illness, lots of teeth clenching moments, a bit of humor along with a couple of big shocks at the terrifying end. A wonderful extended epilogue that makes for a happy ending and a promising future for another character of the story
I can't give enough praise for this wonderful exciting and touching story that I highly recommend.

For much of this story, Fiona is hounded by her village and the people of the castle, for being a witch. The prejudices and dangers she faces are true to the era, and highlight the unfounded fears of almost all the highlanders. Even when she works herself almost to death to save the people, it seems it's still not enough and the constant threat she faces from both the mob and the nasty Luther almost break her spirit. Even Malcom doubts her despite his attraction to her. I would think, although it wasn't stated, that the father of the dead child did not allow his wife to give the child the herb tea Fiona gave them, and this was why the child died.
There is a dark side to this story but it still has some romance, even it that is not as happy as usually portrayed.
The extended epilogue is lovely, and I can't wait to see what happens between Dalilah and Andrew. This was an ARC copy and I review it freely. I gave it 4 stars for being a bit different.

Wow!

This story has it all: hurt, love, treason, trust to be earned and a happily ever after. Fiona is a very sweet young woman whose only sin is to be too nice. Malcom has a great loss to mourn. I love Fiona’s determination to her work. The relationship between the two of them develops sweetly. We are at a time when any woman could be declared a witch from anyone... Fiona has to deal with this and it is utterly frustrating. If people truly behaved like that in the 17th century, I am absolutely delighted to be born 3 centuries later. The villain is an absolutely despicable manipulative bastard. He will get what he deserves. I hope another book will come right after this story ends: the extended epilogue is quite the tease!! Can’t wait to read!

Gripping and Suspenseful. Kenna Kendrick's stories are always interesting with flawed characters who manage to grow and yet retain their personalities which captivate you from the very beginning until the very end. Bewitching the Highlander is an emotional rollercoaster ride that brims with tension-building twists and turns, sizzling passion, characters that are well thought out that you find yourself drawn into their story, with a gripping plot! As a wicked web of deceit, deception and murder is being weaved by an unknown foe in this action-packed story that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat until the very end as Fiona and Malcom try to stop a mysterious illness that are killing Malcom's clan.

The enemy within.

Great book. Fiona is a young healer often called a witch by the very village she serves. When Laird Malcolm requests her presence in his castle to cure his son of an unknown illness, she reluctantly agrees. Malcolm has basically been a recluse since his wife died in childbirth 5 years ago. He turned over his responsibilities as laird to his second in command Luther. But when he lays eyes on Fiona, things start to change. He begins to feel like his old self. He must overcome the damage done by his absence in the clan and Fiona must try to cure and identify the source of a mysterious illness that over takes the clan before she is accused of being the cause. Loved the characters and the storyline.

Was she a Witch or was there just evil lurking around the castle. ? So much Mystery , Sadness, Pain,
Lack of Trust could the dark cloud pass and happiness finally return ?
Fiona Duncan Village Healer / Witch and Malcom Gunn Laird of Castle Lennoch met under dire circumstances. Forced into trying to heal his Clan of a mysterious illness and witch hanging over head , she had to form a trust. This is much easier said than done.
Many things are happening in this Page Turning. story . You will be totally involved with there Tale as well
As emotionally invested as you experience a Growing Love.

Fiona is the village healer after her mother dies but when a child dies, she is accused of being a witch. She is given a second chance by the village elder but lives in fear of being burnt if something else goes wrong.

Malcom Dunn, Laird of Lennoch castle, is a widower with a young son. When his son becomes ill and no one can find the castles healer Fiona is called to look after him.

This is just the start of the story.

There is a little intrigue, betrayal and of course sexy romance.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

This book was excellent! I loved it! The love story of Fiona, the Healer and Malcolm the Laird! I could hardly put it down! Full of intrigue, excitement, suspence and mystery. A lot of healer's were considered witches in those days! The villian is despicable, and not a good person. He gets what he deserved in the end! Malcolm was in mourning far too long and Fiona helped him get past this with love in her heart... The ending was happy for all!

Painful drivel

I threw in the towel when the author described a COW as having TUSKS.

There is nothing to commend this drivel.

The characters are one dimensional.

The 'plot' is so obvious that I knew who the antagonist was within one sentence of his introduction.

The author's use of vernacular is stilted & painful to read.

Both the 'hero' & the 'heroine' are puling, drooling morons who are reveling in their own asinine pity parties. I hated them both.

*gag*

Pretty good read.
You could tell pretty quickly who the bad guy was and the romance happened fast (but without any real connection ie. is it love or actually infatuation? because romance happened rapidly (but I guess that's how the old world worked sometimes huh))
Everything tied together at the end so I'm happy about that.

Healers Magic

Lovely story following Fiona and Laird Malcom. From the village healer whom people suspected as a witch to the Lairds keep to help save his son. Fiona fights against prejudices to save them all. In the meantime love blossoms between her and Malcom. Hope to see a follow up book to their story.

This book was filled with interesting characters and lots of ups and downs. You can figure out who the villain is pretty quickly, but some of the twists and turns are quite unexpected. Fiona is a healer accused of being a witch with many accusers threatening her. She is summoned to the laird’s castle because of illness, will she be accused of being a witch again?

I enjoyed reading this book. Although you may suspect the villain early on, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader on edge. Who knows if your suspicions will be correct? It was enjoyable to find out!

A Witch! Like her mother before her, Fiona is a healer. Like his father before him, Malcom is a Laird. They come together through Malcom's son. Danger lurks in the shadows! Dark intriguing romance. 3 1/2 stars.

Great romance

Well kenna has done it again! This was a very absorbing story, one you can't put down. However I did suspect Luther from the beginning as he was total jackass. There was so much angst and evil in his demeanor.

It is a great story.

It is a great read. It had me crying in some places, laughing in others. I just hated that some still thought she was a witch.
