New Millennium: in praise of folly: Or how we made our world but dropped the sense from it

Rate this book
The present work explores man and his world in the new millennium. Man being a social animal what made him separate from his ape cousins? Bipedalism or was it sheer ignorance of the perils he faced in an uncharted territory as savannah? Having come this far, what the author has collated his findings, which like the proverbial curate’s egg are wonderful in parts and bad in other. Tool making capacity of man for instance made the earth a global village. Is it not wonderful? The Age of Internet is where social media platforms are competing to disseminate news. Fake news however has come like worm in the apple of his ingenuity. Information overload is not as bad as conspiracy theories that travel faster than his ability to digest them. What worth are news that do not add up as machines that fail? Airplanes shrunk the earth, but two fatal crashes one after the other does throw up a serious identity image problem of Boeing or Facebook is nothing comparable. Foresight of man and his hindsight do not match. He ushered the nuclear age and his excuse was to stop a global war. Now the world is sure to end in a nuclear holocaust or end up as a planet plastic.
