While there were a few interestingly new ideas, most everything is standard dinner fare. There is a lot of bread products, pasta and rice. I know we are feeding kids here, but they are also willing to branch out. Sugar in some form, and condensed soups show up in a fair amount of recipes, and there is a low-fat section. I'm not a fan of any of these.
There were some cute ways to put together a dish for kids; funny faces, animals, etc.
Not a lot new here or enticing. However, if a parent is brand new to cooking and needs to rely on some processed foods, this is not a bad place to start.
Our oldest loves to borrow cookbooks from her elementary school library. Most have a child-centric focus, and that holds true for this book, but it's certainly written with parents in mind. The recipes are kid-friendly, although many require adult supervision.
The photographs are colorful and many include children preparing the meals. Overall, it's a good cookbook and I asked our girls to pick out a couple of recipes for us to try.
My mom never had to make my food cute to get me to eat it, but I like this book because it helps with sneaking vegetables into your kid's (or um, maybe husband's) food.
