Merlin’s final words haunt the Sentinel’s dreams. Kellan’s eidetic memory replays them with perfect clarity each night since he breached the guff and withdrew three human souls. Now, more than a year later, both he and his Soulborn wife are visited by an entity who channeled Universal power to enter our world from another. This Emissary of Destruction provides the young Sentinel with a gift of unimaginable power and a dire warning. This combination sets Kellan on a journey which takes him to the land of Fae. There he must gain support from the Fairy King and Queen. Unfortunately, all Fae extract a price commensurate with the help they provide, and Kellan is no exception. The royals send him to confront historic evils and tragedy in return for empowering the emissary’s gift.As well laid plans built by Mantels, gods, and other immortals hurtle toward their conclusion only one element could not have been anticipated. What would the Sentinel of Order do to honor departed friends and protect those who remain? Kellan has risked his life many times for those he loves. Is he now also willing to accept, A Burden of Chaos.
I listen to books. Seldom do I read books. Who has the time? Well, for "A Burden of Chaos" I made the time. Not by choice, but necessity. You see it took over six month to come out on Audible. I just missed the characters so much, I had to read the book. Then when the audible version came out (May 2019), I enjoyed the story again listening to Nick Podehl do his wonderful performance bringing the characters to life. If you have not read the previous books, I envy you. You have 4 fantastic books to look forward to. Read or listen. You will enjoy either way. Tell your friends. Help support Robert. Sadly, for some of us we must now wait for the next book (slated for November 2019).
For those wanting to know "when will the next book be out?" I was most pleased to find that Robert created the area http://spartamac.com/current-writing. The area will show the status on books with nice progress bars. The storytelling continues to be fantastic and needs time to work through whatever writing process Robert uses. It is good to have somewhere to monitor and see if Robert is working more like Brandon Sanderson or Patrick Rothfuss.
In summary, the Sentinels of Creation series just keep getting better as the characters develop and grow. That include Lucifer, who we now know will grant success to authors just to mess up the author priorities so they never finish their book series. That truly is evil. Read, and you will enjoy. A Burden of Chaos was a fantastic addition that ends with a significant cliff hanger. Like me, you are going to want book 5 ASAP. Now you know where you can monitor the progress.
What an amazing 4th book!!! Highly recommend it! Holy shit this is the kind of book that just BOOOOOM blows your mind! I just love this series so much, I literally can't get enough of this rich world. I just got done with my 3rd time listening to the previous books in the series just last month. Now here came the forth much anticipated book and damn if it didn't deliver in every single area. This was just an amazing 4 th book that delivered awesome action with suspense, romance, twists and even when I thought I knew what would happen, the author would delight me with a different twist. I can't emphasize enough how rich and alive these characters and the entire world feels.
This series has a special place in my heart I really love the humor. It can make you laugh out loud. Love the pop culture references as well.
Praise for another Wonderful entry in to one of my favorite worlds the Sentinels of Creation series.
I use ratings to decide which books I am going to buy, and I recently decided I am partially responsible for inflating the ratings on books. Either they were 5 star or 1 star. I decided to use the star rating more objectively as follows:
★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will). ★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this. ★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad. ★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time? ★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.
