Metahuman Files Volume Two

Rate this book
For the first time, Hailey Turner’s Metahuman Files and Metahuman Files: Classified Novella series have been brought together in three epic box sets! Please note, no new content has been added.

Volume Two:
In the Shadows
Staff Sergeant Alexei Dvorkin doesn’t trust easily, and he most certainly doesn’t trust spies, but Agent Sean Delaney is proving to be the exception to the rule. Sparks fly when they’re partnered on a mission to find evidence of criminal wrongdoing against the owner of a private military company. But when the mission takes a turn for the worse, Alexei and Sean will have to put their differences aside in order to win the fight and each other’s hearts.

In the Blood
Captain Jamie Callahan and Staff Sergeant Kyle Brannigan, along with Alpha Team, are frustrated with constantly being at the mercy of the enemy in order to further the Metahuman Defense Force’s goals. For Jamie and Kyle, staying out of the political spotlight becomes impossible when their families are threatened and vital choices about their future together can no longer be ignored. Meanwhile, Alexei and Sean’s time together is brutally interrupted, and the only way they can make it out alive is to give into the enemy’s demands.

Out of the Ashes
Alexei and Sean are still reeling from their stint as prisoners of war. Their physical wounds might have been mended, but the emotional scars left behind aren’t so quick to disappear. Recovery is slow, and guilt over past actions threaten to tear them apart.

In the Shadows ~ I actually think Sean and Alexei are my favorite couple. I like Jamie and Kyle but these two really worked for me. In fact, the whole story and book did.

Now they’ve got add Declan to the list of bad guys out to defeat the MDF and metahumans as a whole. He’s smart and savvy, maybe more so than some of the other baddies they’ve tangled with.

Regardless, Alexei and Sean are fantastic together and I can’t wait to see more of them. Outstanding book/series!!

In the Blood ~ YES! YES! YES! Finally feel like I really connected to Jamie in a way I hadn’t before. This book was amazing especially doing multiple points of view which the author handled very well.

I really hate Jamie’s dad... almost as much as Stanislav and Declan. I’m salivating for the moment when those two bite it. Although having Kyle gut Cillian and then put a grenade inside him so he exploded into SO many pieces, was fabulous. He deserved it.

The love stories are still really good although I hope Jamie and Kyle can figure out a way to be together without it having to be a secret. Alexei and Sean will survive although it’s going to take a while, understandably so, to deal with what happened to them.

Out of the Ashes (Metahuman Files Classified: 1) ~ An excellent addition to the series. I already completely loved Sean and Alexei so watching them struggle to heal after what happened in Boston was both heartbreaking and hopeful.

I highly recommend Metahuman Files. I can't say enough about the world building and the character descriptions for this series, let alone the action, story and the steam level. I was hooked from the beginning. The backstory connecting the main story keeps you going. This series would definitely make you think how much could someday become our reality with the way money gives way to far too much selfishness, greed and the perceived power of males in charge.

Still going strong

Some parts of this volume was difficult read as with great scenes of action, suspense came with some of torture. But the story was superbly done. Lots of twisting plots and now established characters you love but somehow managing to be still romance with lots of heat. Recommended.
