Rate this book
Astari is a world made up of twelve zodiac Queendoms, each fighting to find their True Queen, and Libra is running out of time.

Ren really couldn’t care less. As a half-breed mutt living in the void, her world is simple – maintain the balance at all costs.

Her life is simple – wake, train as an elite Zeta hunter, sleep (with the occasional extra-curricular activity that is nothing short of risking death) and repeat.

Until the day Hel and Fate decide to change the world and claim her as their daughter.

But they don’t make things easy. Ren must survive on the tip of a knife blade and only Lady Fate’s gentle nudges and Hel’s unwavering persistence can get her to the pinnacle of the scales. She might even make it there in time to save the ones she loves.

If she survives...

This Book’s Got Spine

🎶 I like thick books and I cannot lie
The Balanced Queen’s one you can’t deny
It has a big ole spine and a storyline that’ll knock you out your chair
It will amaze you and daze you
Don’t let that faze you 🎶

Ok ok, though I could go all day, I’m going to stop there because I just don’t have the brain power to turn everything I want to say about this AMAZEBALLS book into a rendition of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s masterpiece lol.

The Balanced Queen is a full length stand-alone with HEA. If you’ve ever read an Amanda Cashure book, you know she’s one for the details and this book baby “apple” of hers doesn’t fall far from the tree. If you’ve never read Cashure before, don’t let the world and character building in the first few chapters scare you away from the story. I promise you won’t regret hitching your wagon to this horse, it’s going to take you to some wonderful places within your mind.

Ren is a wonderfully strong woman and her harem only adds to her ability. If you want an FMC who can save herself, Ren is your girl. The harem itself has a female within, so if you aren’t a lover of ff content, you’ll want to reconsider diving headfirst into this one; dip your toes in a bit, get a feel for the characters and swim around those ff scenes, pretty sure the author tells you exactly where they are in the book so that you can do just that in avoiding them, but boy are they steamy and dreamy.. Another great thing about Cashure’s writing is that she is a master of making you laugh and this book here did not fail to have me out of breath and in tears on multiple occasions.

Long story short is that if you love thick books with amazing world & character building plus lots of laughs, you are going to want to grab this bad boy right now, find a nice cozy spot to bunker down in and go on and get lost in this world of wonder and adventure.

Love it!

The Balanced Queen is of the Royal Celestials storyline and 7th in the series. Every story is a standalone and can be read out of order. If you haven't read any of the other books, I recommend starting here because 1. world building and 2. book length (the other books from this line are pretty short). This book is long but it's because Cashure delivers on building a rich, detailed story that a reader can fully invest in. I love that the story was told from multiple perspectives. Overall a super fun book and one I will most definitely be rereading (I will most likely be updating this review as well).

*I recommend reading the glossary even if you aren't normally someone who does. (Cashure writes her glossaries like she's talking to you as if you're hanging out together and I think it's great and nerdy and sometimes you just need something simply fun like that).

What a wild ride - this story sort of has a fantasy Hunger Games feel to it. Ren and her brother, Fury are Zetas, children born with a House of Day and House of Night parent. Zetas are captured and sent to live in this place where they have to fight and form small packs to survive. They are learning to fight for survival and follow the rules sent down to them from the palace. Fury is older and has been taking care of his sister and has the mentality of “that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Ren has her girl, Clem, and then along comes Vengy. Then one night Hel breaks loose and Ren meets Demi and Pen. - I love, love, love the dynamics between all of them. The scene where Pen figures out the how the marks work is hilarious! Demi is hot, Vengy is kind of sweet (considering his life as a Zeta) and Clem is just awesome. This story has action, humor, and steam!

Amanda is one of my absolute favorite, favorite authors. She just hits all the greatest things that I love in a story. Her character development is so unique and every single character she goes in depth, and it's just fabulous. Her world building is beyond any other author that I've read to date. This book is the longest I've read from her. And it doesn't disappoint at all. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, since they each are from different authors and can be read as standalone. The main character Ren is a Zeta her and her brother Fury and other children are considered unnatural as they are from one light parent and one dark parent...(who should NOT mix let alone have children) so they are rounded up and trained and used as slave labor. Rens harem consists of one girl (some ff) Clem (also her bff), Vengy, Demi, and Pen. It has alot of fun, action and suspense. And heat steamy steamy heat! She lets you know when the FF is going to be so you can skip it if you want. It won't mess with the story line. It is an epic story!! I loved it! You really need to get this one!!

Amanda Cashure is become one of my favorite authors.

I really enjoyed this book. Amanda is excellent at building a world and characters you enjoy reading about. This RH was a little different than most having a female in the harem. If you are uncomfortable with this, there is a warning before the steamy scenes and if you skip it takes nothing away from the story. It was the first of the series I read because I really like the author, but I see a couple more that interest me that I’ll be reading.

The truth Queen and her brother

This book was everything with so much story, back story, tangled twisted together so you never know whether you're in day or night! I loved the parts to the story along with the quotes. And the book went on forever!

Another rich and detailed world that you just want to go and live in, without the whole zeta thing of course.
It's long but it needs to be. One for the re-read pile
